No Nano, but not bad By A37PV5GMP2ILJC on 2007-10-08
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R1PSF1EUBG892A Just playing around with my first ever video review, so please bear with me.
The V220 is a pretty good mouse considering the price tag. It's compact and rugged looking, with rubber pads at the sides for a good grip.
It only needs one AA battery (Note: the diagram is misleading with regard to the way to put in the battery. You should see the + side when you're closing the top)
You can use it for desktops as well as laptops.
There's storage space for the receiver at the bottom, and once you click it into place, the mouse automatically shuts off.
The ridged rubber wheel is the noisy variety, and goes click, click, click, all the way home.
It comes with no software, but gives you a link to the website where you can get a download to make the mouse do tricks. After the download, you can scroll from side to side, click and roll to zoom, and if you give it a shove, it can even roll over and play dead.
It has a warning light to tell you when your battery needs changing.
It doesn't come with a case or pouch, but looks like it can handle going commando just fine.
In summary, it's a good mouse, but not a great mouse - and well worth the price.

The Only Cordless Mouse You Will Ever Need By A38H4XCCPLRF93 on 2007-09-28
Logitech's V220 is ergonomically designed and has soft rubber grips on both sides. It uses one AA battery, which is nice, you don't have to scour the planet trying to find the right battery to use. The tilt wheel is large, making it easy to operate. The left and right mouse buttons operate smoothly. There is a battery warning LED which is green if the battery is good and turns red when the battery is low. This is a great feature. Another thing I love about this product is the off/on switch on the bottom of the mouse. If you are going to be typing or reading for a while and won't be needing to use the mouse, you can simply turn it off and save battery life. The receiver slides into the bottom of the mouse and is designed to turn off the mouse when you slide it in and turn on the mouse when you slide it out.
The only complaint I have is the instruction pamphlet could have been a little clearer about which way to install the battery. The diagram shows the stud of the positive end of the battery going first into the mouse but it has a very small (-) sign on the end with a small (+) side on the other end. A quick glance leads you to put the positive end first just by how the drawing looks.
I purchased a bargain store brand cordless mouse that was much smaller, had a tiny tilt wheel with an automatic shut off that allows the battery to run down for several minutes before shutting off. The Logitech V220, for the same price, puts the bargain brands to shame. It's the only cordless notebook mouse you will ever need.
Comparable to Microsoft 4000. Well-built and improved over older models. By A2RW587355CMVA on 2007-10-15
I use my Thinkpad laptop quite a lot, so a reliable wireless mouse that's both low-maintenance and comfortable is very important to me. I have used an older model of Logitech wireless notebook mouse before and frankly I was not too impressed. Compared the said older model with my Microsoft Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 4000, which has been my mouse of choice for almost a year now, the older Logitech model came up short on a few design considerations. First, the general feel of key presses: Microsoft mouse buttons are very responsive and be clearly depressed with a comfortable amount of pressure; the older Logitech on the other hand felt ambiguous at times - user doesn't know for sure if a button has been depressed. Secondly, the USB RF connector on the Logitech is always loose when reattached to the mouse when not in use, resulting in pre-mature power-drain. Luckily, LogitechV220 has been re-vamped to address just these issues. Now I use my trustworthy Microsoft 4000 and the Logitech V220 almost interchably and not even noticing the difference a lot of the times. And I believe that's a good thing, a well-built mouse should be unobtrusive and becomes almost a natural extension of the computing environment - something that's so natural users don't even realize its presence. In this regard, Logitech V220 has done a tremendous job to up their previous effort.
Nice Mouse For Basic Needs By A1N5FSCYN4796F on 2007-10-01
This is a nice mouse for the price. Let's take a look from the top and see if it is for you.
Packaging: This is trivial, but so many of these plastic packaged products require a chainsaw to open. That's not the case with this one.
Setup: This model (and the V320) do not come with an installation CD with the Set Point software. In order to utilize all of the features of the mouse, you need to download the software from Logitech's web site. The file is just under 60 Mb so allow a few minutes for download. The installation took about 10 minutes on my laptop. Everything is straightforward, just make sure you allow about 20 minutes total.
Usage: This mouse has some nice features. The on/off switch is automatic based on whether the USB adapter is docked or not. You can also turn it off manually. Tracking is very precise, and it has a couple of extras on the scroll wheel. If you push down on the scroll wheel, you get a magnifying glass and can then use the scroll wheel to zoom in and out. The scroll wheel also tilts left and right for horizontal scrolling. If you hover over the Logitech icon, you get a reading on the battery life in the mouse. The only thing I would like to see different is for the mouse itself to be a little bit larger. If you have larger hands, this may be an issue (consider the V320 instead).
Conclusion: If you are only looking for a basic mouse, this should do the trick. You will not find any added features for controlling media players or gaming. If those are your needs, you should consider an alternative.
Working great By A15X2FH3XBG2UE on 2007-08-15
I purchased the Logitech V220 notebook mouse a few weeks after buying my new notebook for college. I'm pleased with its performance so far; I've had it about one month.
The battery life is listed at 6 months, with regular usage. The mouse includes a useful on/off feature, however, which is manual or automatically done by inserting the USB receiver in the bottom of the mouse.
I was happy that the mouse included a AA battery, despite not listing this on the packaging. The battery life light, located on top, glows green for just a few seconds after turning the mouse on. Another useful feature, which I appreciate.
For ergonomics, know that this mouse is rather small, due to it being a notebook mouse. Dimensions are roughly 2.5-3 inches long, 1.5-2 inches wide, 1 inch tall. It fits my hand well, and I'm 6 feet tall with larger sized hands. The clicks are responsive, as is the scroll wheel, both forward/backward and side-to-side.
Software for the mouse can be obtained from [..]. The software (Logitech Setpoint) allows customization a bit further, such as mouse speed, left/right click settings, middle click settings, among other features.
Overall a great mouse, very accurate and with long lasting battery life (afaict).
- Works as expected.
     By A174SIK4VS2R86 on 2007-10-03
I initially had problems getting this unit to work. It seems that the battery was not well positioned inside the compartment. Eventually I was able to fix this problem. After that the mouse works fine. I am not able to change my original review to the 4 stars that the working product deserves.
The software (a whopping 50+ MB file) must be installed to access the special features such as zooming and side to side scrolling.
My only complaint is that the product feels too light and insubstantial in the hand. A heavier, larger mouse would be more in line with what one is used to on desktops.
- great little mouse
     By A13K3ZLWAWN1EI on 2007-10-29
I love this little notebook mouse. The scroll can be set fast, it's very responsive, lightweight, and was literally plug and play with my Mac. No drivers to download or other hardware incompatibilities. Since it plugs into a USB port, it has a strong signal. Don't know if this is bluetooth or not, but works far better than any bluetooth notebook mouse I've gotten in the past (like Kingston) and I have not had any lag or dropout. Real nice. I also love that it uses 1 AA battery that can last up to 6 months, so it's easy to replace on the fly and no extra cords or cradles are needed to charge it.
- Prefer V320 & V450
     By AJE4WUGH46IOH on 2007-09-06
This mouse works great, but I do not like the storage of the USB receiver. Spend the extra $10 and get the V320 if you travel a lot because the receiver on that one will fit flush to the mouse and take up less room. Great battery life on all Logitech wireless mice.A much better value than Microsoft brand.
- Not a bad mouse
     By A1MAG8BDOVJHTT on 2007-09-27
I've put this mouse through some use that's most likely more strenuous than a typical notebook user. I will start out with some good features. It has a decent range, about six feet before the lag becomes too much to deal with (or it does not function at all). I see this as a good benefit primarily because I use my notebook on travel for giving presentations. This way I can use my mouse to advance my presentation slides and not have to take an additional gadget or rely on someone else's. The scroll wheel has a nice feel to it, with good motion and stops. While it is smaller than my desktop mouse, it's larger than my other travel mouse and it's not uncomfortable for my somewhat large hands. The USB receiver snaps nicely onto the underside for transport.
Now, for what I dislike. The battery mounts through the top panel, which does not snap in as tight and flush as I would like. This is a very minor concern. I often have a lag when picking the mouse up after a period of disuse. This I figure to be a delay in it waking up from its auto-off battery saver mode, but it's a bit annoying. Also, perhaps because my USB ports are on the rear of my desktop, I have experienced some interruption of signal or something which has me moving the mouse and the cursor remaining stationary.
Because of the slight annoyances, I give this mouse a 3/5. It's a nice thing to have, but not something I would call a necessity.
- This Little Beauty Works a Treat
     By A3HAC5PSLMHMR7 on 2007-10-26
This little mouse is almost too responsive for my mac. After I downloaded the software from Logitech's site and plugged in the dongle I was ready for the wireless experience, but I wasn't quite ready for the speed. The pointer zipped across my screen seemingly at the speed of sound, no make that the speed of light. I went right into my system file and slowed that baby down as slow as it could go and still it's faster across the screen than the corded Apple mouse that came with my iMac.
Also it took me a couple three days to get used to the feel of this little beauty. And having lived in the Mac world so long, I'd forgotten all about the right click business, boy is that ever neat. With the Apple mouse it seemed like I always had my index finger curled up ready to click. With the Logitech mouse I have my index and middle finger laying over the top, I suppose like the designer's intended. This took a little getting used to, but now it's ingrained. I don't think I can go back. Plus the scroll wheel works a treat. This is a great mouse, Logitech you have my vote here.
- Nice little mouse!
     By A1KATM2VHHZEFX on 2007-11-21
I like the size, I wasn't sure I would when I first got it - and the battery concerned me since it is not rechargeable.
I got some 2700 mAh rechargeables but they only lasted a day or 2. Not that it is a problem, just a nuisance to have to charge so regularly. However, the one standard AA I put in there has been going for about a month, so I feel good about the reviews stating they have lasted for almost a year.
However, the software gives plenty of notice ahead of time BEFORE the battery dies which is a great feature. I am a programmer and my computer is on pretty much all day. The auto 'sleep' function appears to be working. You may notice a slight hesitation when it wakes up, but it is very responsive and quick to wake and hasn't gotten on my nerves. All in all, a great product.
- Great Multi-Functional Mouse
     By AWPODHOB4GFWL on 2008-10-16
My Dell Laptop was giving me cramps with trying to move the cursor around with one finger, especially when trying to scroll up or down. Knowing Logitech makes great electronic items; I didn't flinch when buying this mouse. The USB mini-receiver fits under the mouse when not in use. Otherwise, just plug it into your computer/laptop's port and you're ready. The mouse itself is very comfortable with a soft but firm, comfortable grip. The wheel is ridged, so you feel like you have more control. This mouse is much more sensitive than my regular Logitech corded mouse, but it's not that big a problem. I do like being able to easily scroll from side to side and zooming in and out on documents. Especially convenient is that the V220 turns itself off when not used for several minutes, taking away the worry of battery burnout. Plus it works on almost any surface (think about being on a plane with your laptop on that tiny tray). For the price, it's a great tool, especially if you have large hands or are wide shouldered.
Do note that this mouse is only certified for Windows Vista compatibility; something I found out after the fact, but worked out for me.
- This Mouse Feels Just Right
     By AB0F3WF0GCCC0 on 2007-09-21
The price for portability these days is priceless - a nearly so. For the price to purchase the Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse, you're getting yourself quite a deal! I conduct 100% of my work on my an Apple laptop and have grown sick of the trackpad. So getting the Logitech V220 was like winning the lottery. It's fits fantastically in my hand (my hand is on the small side). The ergonomic design ensures a nice fit under my palm. I could see, however, where people with larger hands might run into some issues. The rubber sides facilitate a nice grip. It works well on my Apple laptop, and in fact, I like the feel of this mouse better than the Apple-branded mouse on the market. I love the center wheel, which I use for scrolling Web pages. The mouse's optical tracking is quite accurate, and if you're on a Mac, you can adjust the speed of the cursor and click-rate through your System Preferences. Two things that still somewhat irk me. The USB receiver fits underneath the mouse in a rather awkward way. When fitted under the mouse, it makes the base uneven - this bothers me for some reason; it ruins the sleek lines of the mouse. I also wish the mouse came with a holder or pouch of sorts (this might just be a high-maintenance demand of mine). Otherwise, I love this mouse. I love the size. The feel is sleek and modern. It works as it should. And for the price, you're getting a fantastic deal!
- Excellent compromise between form factor and ergonomics
     By A36JO8IHKYBMMJ on 2007-09-27
The pleasure of using this mouse starts with the easy to open packaging. No chance of slitting your wrists on a plastic monstrosity here. Instead, you simply bend a tab back and forth a few times and the plastic peels apart. I hope this becomes an industry standard.
As far as the mouse itself, it takes about thirty seconds to activate, with no additional software required. Thereafter, it starts with virtually no delay. Although I have big hands, I found this product to be more comfortable than comparable smaller mouses. It is almost too responsive. I had to adjust my normal mousing speed so as to avoid sending the cursor flying across the screen. Once I did, however, it was very satisfying. The fit of the receiver underneath the mouse for storage and travel is firm but easy to remove and replace--unlike some wireless mouses I've used in the past.
It is disappointing that the scroll wheel does not serve as a third button, but that is the only flaw worth mentioning. Recommended.
- Instructions not needed
     By A3FKGKUCI3DG9U on 2007-09-25
The most difficult thing about getting the mouse to work was getting through the packaging material. The mouse needs no software to get started. I did not read the instructions on setting up the mouse. If I can do this, then anyone can. I plugged the USB receiver into my T60p Thinkpad, snapped the AA battery into the mouse, switched the mouse on and it was ready to go. It rolls smoothly on my mouse pad or wood desk surface. The mouse fits nicely into my hand. The wheel makes scrolling simple.
Although the mouse does not need software, you can download a 60 MB file from the Logitech web site. I looked into this after I got the mouse working. You do need to know whether your operating system is 32-bit or 64-bit. Following the Logitech instructions for determining this did not yield the answer, but a web search found an easy way to make the determination. I was able to download and install the proper Logitech program. The software adds refinements to mouse operation that I probably will not need since the mouse works well as-is.
The packaging outweighs the mouse. It reminded me of the Russian nesting dolls. There was the Amazon box, about 1.5 x 2.5 ft. Inside that was the Logitech box, about 1 x 1.5 ft. Inside that was a plastic pack, 6 x 8 in. Inside that was the mouse, 2 in x 3 in. Fewer layers of packaging would be better.
- Love it!
     By A2BCDZO1XQLDH on 2007-10-15
Without a doubt Logitech make the best mice. Do not look at Microsoft mice. They do not compare and I have had nothing but trouble with them. I returned one 6 tmes and it did not work! The logitech mouse is ergonmically designed fits well in the hand and the USB dongle fits in the bottom for storage and also turns off the mouse completely to conserve battery life. So clever! I love the zooming feature that you can program into the wheel. I do prefer the laser controlled version of this mouse but this one is very very good. Enjoy!
- I Am Very Happy with this Nifty Mouse
     By A21UEAZHGW1648 on 2007-10-26
I spend most of my computing time on a laptop and am quite used to the track pad, so I didn't really think this mouse would be for me, not for word processing, which I do a lot of, anyway. However, Jack and I have a Mac mini under our TV. We use it for saving movies (which we've paid for), storing our photos (we have thousands) and for iTunes. We also use it as a DVD player. That Mac mini is hooked up to a pair of JBL Studio Monitors, so we get great sound.
Needless to say we're all the time using our Bluetooth mouse and keyboard a lot. Every time we download the NBC and CBS news. Every time we listen to music, view our photos, download photos from one of my cameras and well you get the picture, we utilize the heck out of that mini. And sadly the Bluetooth mouse goes through batteries like they're going out of style, plus I have to get up to go to the coffee table to pause a video, because the Bluetooth signal gets pretty darn week from the other side of the room.
Enter the Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse. The signal shoots clear across the room, no problem. I have a little lap board (originally designed as a cutting board) that I use with this mouse and it works great, plus it seems as if this mouse was designed for my small hands. The scroll wheel works great. I know this because it is possible for me to access my e-mail now from my recliner and sometimes I do. I don't know about the battery life yet, because I haven't had it long enough for the battery to wear out, but I'm told I'll get months from the single battery inside this mouse (my Bluetooth mouse takes two batteries). All in all, I have to say I couldn't be happier with this nifty mouse.
- decent
     By ATMZVZ7BS6SRU on 2007-12-28
i got this to replace my V200...and the only reason i needed to replace that one is because the reciever is in room 211 at the days in off exit 394 on 40 west in TN...haha...either way...i dont like the 220 quite as much because they made it a good bit smaller and i have a pretty big hand... on the other hand...it is very comfortable to hold and the feature i love the most is that instead of the reciever clicking or snapping into place for travel...it actually slides into the bottom of the mouse so that it wont just come off from something brushing against it in your bag...overall i say a great mouse
edit: i forgot to mention...the greatest feature with this mouse is the added on/off switch...that way when you're not using your mouse you can turn it off to save battery power
- Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks
     By A2BBJNMFDNJD4P on 2008-02-28
I bought two of these at Christmas time, one as a gift for my wife for her Dell 4100 desktop PC and the other for my IBM ThinkPad laptop computer. We have struggled with a couple wired mice over the years and had enough of the dust balls invading the mice. The Logitech V220 had numerous good reviews and the price was reasonable, especially with free Amazon shipping. They arrived soon after ordering and were put into service on Christmas day. Installation was plug and play for the receiver into a USB port. There is a download available for adding additional features. The mouse can be configured for various buttons. The mice came with an alkaline AA battery for each. Some of the reviews indicated battery life of up to 6 months. One of the mice lasted about one month. The other is still working 2 months later. I was curious about the current consumption as a retired electrical engineer and was able to measure the current on each. It turned out the current draw was identical for the two so I concluded the supplied batteries were not equal when purchased new. The mouse draws about 100uA static and about 14mA when in use. If the USB receiver is piggybacked onto the mouse when not in use the mouse is shut off completely, it appears. The performance is great, no problems. The Dell desktop has the USB ports in the back and I was concerned that the location might affect the wireless path but it turned out it worked fine. I would recommend this unit to all. There is no need to spend more on laser units.
- It Just Works

Just picked this up yesterday for use with my Asus Eee 4g. Stopped at Starbucks and opened it up, plugged in the USB and it works fine with the Linux laptop.
Bring it to work today, plug it into my work-supplied XP laptop, again, it just works.
Small, feels good in my hand and I have a portable alternative to the touchpads I usually have to use.
- No problems
     By A1C8C6O9Q6RHBQ on 2007-08-07
The one thing I do not like about this mouse is that the scroll wheel clicks versus having a smooth quiet wheel. Otherwise, it is an alright mouse/
- So much better than I expected!
     By A1ER5AYS3FQ9O3 on 2007-09-24
I'd never used a cordless mouse for a notebook before but I got a chance to try this one out at a friend's house. It had so many features that I didn't expect in a mouse from this price range. The ergonomic design was genuinely comfortable, the battery life was extremely long and there is a warning indicator when the battery is about to die. It can be easily moved from place to place as needed. Overall, this was everything I'd hoped for - and more!
Update: Months later, I am still loving this mouse. It took a long time for the battery to need replacing and I felt the loss for the day it took to buy a new battery . It is a delight to use, operates quickly and easily when it comes to scrolling up and down pages, etc.
- convenient and much better than using that touch pad on the laptop
     By A2AY83K9N60V38 on 2007-09-24
I was pleased with the packaging of this mouse. I'm so used to struggling with the plastic packaging and having to break out the scissors or knife to access the product that it was really nice to have the perferation at the top of the packaging and have it actually work to get to the mouse.
The mouse itself works wonderfully though I have to admit I wasn't thrilled that to use all it's features, you have to download some software offline. I'd much rather receive that sort of stuff in a disc rather than having to wait on the internet speed to pick up so that I could download it. However you can use the mouse for all the basics WITHOUT the download.
Honestly I've never used a mouse for the laptop before but really hated the touch pad so decided to give the mouse a try and have to admit I'm very impressed. Love that the wireless receiver fits nicely on the bottom of the mouse (though it would have been nice if the niche had been a bit deeper so that it would have been more compact when it's all put away but all in all a nice little device with a long battery life (which I fully appreciate)
- Great little mouse!
     By A3KZCNV1N8R9GC on 2007-09-25
Logitech has made scome great mice over the year, and this one is no exception. Its a nice little travel mouse, with basic features, a cool detachable receiver, and great battery life.
Features:
-2 buttons
-scroll wheel with some sort of "tilt" feature that I didn't use
-cool little snap on USB receiver (you don't have to dig around in your bag for the plug anymore!)
-Battery life is listed as "up to 6 months of battery life", and in my experience logitech lives up to its claims in this area.
The mouse uses only 1AA battery! This is great for a couple of reasons: AA batteries are the ones you're most likely to have around, you can find one easily, and you can use rechargeables if you want to, but you don't have to use some proprietary charge base. It's the best of both worlds.
For a lot of people, any extra bells and whistles aren't necessary. This mouse is great at what it is, and most of the laptop users out there aren't going to need any more features that the ones n this mouse. If you do want some extra buttons, check out Logitechs other "V" models, there's probably one for you.
- No-frills mouse for laptop users.
     By AC1K4OQOZ90RS on 2007-09-30
The Logitech V220 Cordless Optical Mouse for Notebooks is a practical and handy product for notebook users on the go. Setting it up is a breeze. Just insert one AA battery, plug the mini-receiver into a USB port, download the software, and you're in business. There is a small on/off switch to save battery power when the mouse is not in use. In addition, you can snap the receiver into the underside of the mouse when you are on the road. A light flashes red to warn you when the battery is low.
The controls are simple enough. The left and right buttons perform as they should, and the center wheel scrolls up and down smoothly. When pressed, the center button enables the user to zoom in and out. The mouse is responsive, fits nicely in your hand, and knowing Logitech's fine reputation, is undoubtedly well-made and reliable. The one problem I have is that I have no idea how the left-right scroll function works; I am still trying to figure it out. However, for the basic everyday tasks that most people expect a mouse to perform, the V220 Cordless Optical Mouse is functional and convenient.
- Good Choice for a Budget Mouse
     By A17L4NUSA5KZ0H on 2007-10-07
Although it lacks the more refined features of its pricier cousin the VX Nano (most notably the low-profile USB dongle) and the discontinued V500 (the perfect travel mouse, in my opinion), the V220 is a very good choice for a budget travel mouse. Ergonomically, it fits nicely in my large, adult hand and in my eight-year-old's hand. It feels solid and moves well, with excellent accuracy and control.
On the downside, the dongle snaps to the bottom of the mouse, leaving an odd protrusion. Other than that, I think you'll be satisfied with the V220's performance.
- Convenient, compact and comfortable
     By A26A64X86VL1R4 on 2007-10-15
This little mouse is perfect for using on laptops. I keep mine right next to my living room chair where I use my computer. If my thumb starts getting tired, I switch to this device and roll the mouse on the arm of my chair where the sensor has the same tracking response as on a smooth surface.
The ergonomic grooves on the sides of the mouse are rubber coated which makes them easy to rest your fingers in. My thumb feels better when it relaxes in this groove. There are also some smoothed out depressions on the click buttons. These features make it more comfortable to use.
The shape and size really work for me. I thought it would be too small but in fact I find it more comfortable than a regular mouse. Somehow being able to fit your whole hand over it makes it more comfy.
The mini-receiver slides into place on the bottom of the mouse and sits securely. I have dropped the mouse several times when the receiver was on the mouse and it stayed on. And the mouse worked after being dropped several times so it seems fairly durable.
This is a handy little gadget--I say try it!
- Simple, reliable, easy

Very simple to set up and use. Decent battery life... I use rechargable Ever Ready batteries... changing them about monthly. Reliable and durable, it takes a beating in my back-pack and takes an occasional tumble off the work surface. This one's a keeper.
