  This is one of those headsets that you hear about then decide, "Hey, I'm gonna buy this cause its a good deal!!" Seeing this headset for 39 dollars really made me buy it. Before I had spent a long time deciding on the brand and what type, then I saw this am impulsively bought it. Afterwards I had second thoughts, but that quickly changed.
  
  Opening the box, the packaging is beautiful as is the headset itself. The color scheme and decoration is wonderful. Of course, I could care less as long as it sounds good. I work a lot with sound... From having a 2000 dollar sound system in my car, to buying a Bose speaker set for my TV. I bought this on a wim, so I didn't think about spending much money. Plugging it in, and pulling the headset on I realized two things. One, the volume control and mic on/off switch was perfectly placed. Its far enough down to be out of the way, but close enough to be in reach all the time. Two, how my ears fit into the muffs. My head and ears are larger then normal so comfort was important. I started off playing various types of music. These headphones really handle well. Unlike other reviews, I have found the volume very adequate. The highs are high, mids are clearly distributed, and the bass low and precise. Playing games was also enjoyable. The headset performed well with explosions and shots going off. I was very impressed by how well it responded overall.
  
  The mic was pretty good as well. Overall, I was impressed. In games, I never had anyone tell me that my mic was fuzzy or distorted. Voice recordings sounded very good as well. I use Skype on occasion, and this is where I found trouble. Some of my voice was distorted when I did test calls. Also, it sounded pretty muddy on the Skype recordings. I am almost positive that this was a Skype config error or a Skype error in entirety. I love the detachable mic boom, because it gave me room to move and if I just want to listen to music it works beautifully.
  
  Comfort is another area. I can't however, speak to much for others because I have a big noggin. Putting on the headset is comfortable and my ears fit well into the muffs. I cannot speak very accurately about comfort over long periods due to my uncommon head size but.... I can say that it does irritate me slightly. It actually feels good to take the headset off every once in awhile to let the ears breath. Although, I have to say while playing I experience no discomfort and actually forget that I'm wearing a headset. Not the most comfortable thing when taken off, but overall not as bad as some.
  
  Overall this headset is worth every penny. It delivers clear sound and mediocre comfort. I mostly bought this headset for sound quality, so, I was very pleased with my order. The microphone is more then fine for me, so all works. I would highly recommend this headset because of the price, quality, and looks. Good work Creative.

• Great Headsets...but a little low

  My first complaint is not so much about the product but rather about the deal i got. I bought this a week and a half ago for $48 and now i see it at $39...Oh well. The second complaint, which is actually my only complaint about the product, is that it was not as loud as i expected. i bought these so that i won't get any further complaints from my neighbours when i do late night gamings at high volume on my logitech 5.1 set. I was expecting not to hear anything besides the game..but i was able to hear someone in the other room calling and disrupting my game time. Nevertheless, this headset is simply awesome and i have no problems to date. I have not unlocked its potential as yet since i am still using on board sound...but all that is about to change...extremegamer Fatal1ty sound card..HERE I COME!!
  
  [one week later...]
  I have now managed to use this headset for an extended period, playing Crysis for 9hrs straight and my ears were hurting. I didn't really notice it until i took them off. I am not sure if there are any headsets out there that would not become uncomfortable after 9hrs but this is not it. I had to rub my ears for a little while. i think that was one of the deciding factors to say that 9hrs of game play might be enough for now.

  Good sound quality, the mic is pretty clear, and they are pretty comfy on the ears, unless you wear glasses while using them. The only thing I had problems with was the boom coming unattached fairly easily. Overall, I'd say it's definitely worth the money.

  These headphones are of excellent quality. Despite some previous reviews, the volume is excellent. There is a built-in volume and mic on/off switch on the cord, which is quite useful.
  
  These headphones do a good job of centering all sound to you, rather than to everyone else in the room. I can listen to loud games, without bothering anyone else nearby.
  
  Although I am not a very big music critic, these headphones don't distort the sound as some other gaming headsets do. The quality is actually quite nice.
  
  The microphone is longer than some others that I have seen, and it is removable. It does exactly what it says, blocks out other sounds (including the sounds of what you are listening to). The cord is also plenty long.
  
  Overall, I am very happy with my purchase.
  
  
• Good bass and all around decent headset

  So far I have used it to play Crysis and Day of Defeat with good results. The sound is clear and the bass is decent. The ear pads are nice and soft and cover my ears. The mic works well and I like that I can disconnect it when not needed.
  
  I do agree with other reviews that it gets a little uncomfortable wearing them for an extended time. I wise there was an adjustable tension for comfort.
  
  I also choose this model also for the analog inputs. I have had some other USB headsets that are touchy with USB connections.
  
  All in all, a solid headset and good value for the money.

  These are overpriced even at $45. Mic went dead after a few unplugs and then left speaker snapped at almost zero pressure. The plastic is just pathetically soft and cheap. If you don't think you were ripped off, look at the A4tech HS-800, EXACT same headphones in features and cheap quality... but easily found for $20.
  
  The Creative Fatal1ty Gaming Headset would be a good deal if it was half the price.

  This thing is great, very comfortable and convenient. Sound quality is awesome. My only concerns may be the durability of the detachable mic, the arm is flexible and may wear out. Also, for a small woman, the headset is really large, not just in bulk but in fit, I have to readjust frequently. However, overall the product is great and the storage case is a plus. I would highly recommend for any gamer.
  
  
• Decent headset for the price, fairly uncomfortable

  This headset is fairly decent; the driver quality is sub-par compared to decent professional headphones, but is acceptable for gaming. The microphone, on the other hand, is astounding -- a *huge* improvement over generic microphones, or cheaper headsets w/ built-in mics.
  
  Two major downsides:
  
  1) The microphone on/off switch induces a loud "click"; if you use these headphones for Ventrillo or TeamSpeak and have auto-detect-voice enabled, your team-mates will hear a click when you turn on/off the mic. Creative could have avoided this by adding literally a one-cent piece of hardware to the on/off circuitry.
  
  2) The biggest downside, in my opinion: the cones which encapsulate your ears, despite being comfortably padded, are a very odd shape -- oval, giving more length than width. If you have ears which even slightly stick out from your head (I'm NOT talking Alfred E. Newman, folks!), these cones will rub up against the sides/edges of your ears. After 5-6 minutes of use, you'll find yourself wanting to take them off.
  
  I can live with the first flaw, but the 2nd is silly; Creative could have made the width of the earpiece 1-2cm wider and made the phones significantly more comfortable for those of us with human-like ears.

  If you want a decent headset but do not need a microphone go ahead and get this one. Just do not expect the microphone to work. Don't believe me? Go look at creatives own forums and select headsets. There are many people not happy with this product. And what is worse, creative will not respond to any of the problems. I have been trying to contact creative for a week now with my problem with NO response. There is NO phone number to call, you have to rely on email only.
  
  Stay away from this if you need a microphone.

  I bought this headset and instantly I loved it. They are great for gaming and listening to music. The 1st thing I noticed when I bought this headset was the velvet padded earphones, they are very comfortable even when wearing them for long periods at a time. They have excellent bass response and all my music and games sound great. As for the microphone it is very clear. Also, I really like the detachable microphone so I can use them for music. Anyways this is great deal and all around good headset. If you are looking to spend less then 50 go for these.

  I purchased this gaming headset for my son. All in all, he is happy with the performance and overall quality. As being something of a perfectionist, I was also rather satisfied with the audio quuality. However, I believe they could have put a little more thought into the cabling; the cables are very thin and somewhat apt to get damaged easily. I know that copper prices are up more than a little, but this is something of a "premium" headset. The repair charge from Creative, including shipping costs would be excessive, but I am sure that they want you to just buy a new one.
  As someone who has done more than his fair share of electronics repairs, I would have appreciated the ability to simply repair the cable without risking damage to the headset. There is one area of the cable that has gotten a bit abused, and the audio is becomming intermittent if it is moved around. I have no doubt that it is the cable, but I am not going to try and repair/replace the cable until it dies altogether.
  All in all, with the exception of the cheesy cabling, the headset has held out pretty well, and he is still using it today (about 9 months later).

  I bought these headphones around Christmas 2007. First time I bought any gaming headphones. I had read about there sturdiness and design specific to gamers.
  
  The sound, I must say, is really good, much better than with speakers. The Bass boost is impressive. The presence of volume control and removable microphone are good too. However, the ear muffs do not cover the entire ears, so you can still hear people speaking around you, which breaks the immersion. Also, the material used needs to be broken in, collects dust and is uncomfortable after prolonged use. Your ears will be warm and sore after three or more hours of gaming.
  
  The plastic frame feels cheap and light, though that was not what broke on me. The 6 foot wire got wrapped under a chair wheel and when I got up the wire that connects to the jacks tore off. It's now broken. Ive had these sorts of problems from cheap earplugs before.
  
  Overall, with a stronger metal frame and thicker, sturdier cable, this product would be much better.

  Bought this headset on Amazon with 2 day free shipping(yes, it actually arrived in 2 days-thanks Amazon). Very comfortable, removable microphone, gold plated connectors, good build quality. Sounds amazing for the price, much better than my previously owned Altec Lansing 615. I use this headset for everything-music, movies etc. Overall this is an outstanding product.   These are the best headphones I have ever used. They are very comfortable, and the sound quality is second to none. The only problem I have had is getting the microphone to work with games. However, I suspect that this is just a matter of changing some setting with my soundcard, and not a problem with the headphones themselves. The microphone does work if I simply record my voice.

  I have tried a few other headsets and was very disapointed till I bought this headset, it is great. I would recommend this headset to anyone, it's comfortable, great sound quality through headphones and mic. Microphone can be unplugged from headset when not in use so that it is out of way, the in line control for volume and mic is slender and not bulky like alot of other headset's plus it has clip so you can attack it to your shirt.
  This is a great buy and well worth the money.

  i really like this headset. my friends say they can hear me more clearly over Vent. the speakers in the headset are superb upgrading from my monitor's built in speakers music and games come to life because it really feels like ur in the mix. if you really want a good headset than this is the way to go.

  The headset is great, it fits on comfortably and blocks out a lot of noise from the outside. The quality is amazing compared to my older pair of headsets. I also like the detachable microphone and the padding on the top of the headset. The only con's are probably it was supposed to take 2 days and it took 3...i wonder why, anyway Great Product and I recommend it to anyone.

  So this is a good all around headset. I like the Sound and the Microphone, both work very well. The microphone is also very adjustable and removable, both functions are very real world useful.
  My one and only complaint is the fitting/structure on the left sid earpiece/speaker is not designed well. So that when you move your head you can hear the fitting rubbing on itself. Kinda annoying but not enough to make me dislike this headset. Setup was easy and no issues using this with COD4.

  This product is worth every penny for gaming. Mic/headset sounds up close and personal. There are defenitely better out there for movies and music, but this is not what this product is for so don't complain if buying this item for those purposes. I have had the product for 2 months and no problems. Handle with TlC and it should hold up just fine. For the value I would buy another one after this one just because it is such a great product.

  I bought this Headset about a month ago to play World Of Warcraft...and I must say the sound details you hear with them are amazing. After a while it can get uncomfortable but a while playing WOW can exceed 6 hours... Overall an outstanding product!! I also love the Mic. feature, you can actually detach your Mic. whenever you are not using it (and they even send you a nifty little bag to keep your Headset and Mic. tucked away nicely). My friends tell me I sound crisp and clearer than ever.

  The microphone is fantastic, and the fact that you can plug/unplug it from the headset is great.
  
  That said, the actual headphones don't sit well on my ears. They get really uncomfortable to wear after ten minutes or so. I got these with the sole intent of doing voice chat in online games, so an inability to wear them for extended periods of time really kills their usefulness to me.

  This headset was purchased to support participation in an online language class by my daughter. The headset is comfortable to wear, appears to be well made and functions very well for this purpose. The only drawback is that our computer's audio jack is in the back of the computer and use of the headset requires unplugging the speakers. Because of our configuration it is cumbersome to change from the headset to the speakers. This is only a reflection on our setup and not on the headset. We have had the headset for a couple of weeks and so far they work well.
