  • Indestructible!!

    By A3FG0FQHNV2UP2 on 2006-08-17
I first purchased one of these for my older daughter in Germany. It's five years old and still looks great. My younger daughter loved hers - I purchased the twist top attachment (she's too young for a sport bottle top) and she drinks from the open bottle more easily than a cup. Perfect size for little mouths.

I was concerned that these are not meant for the dishwasher, and I was skeptical of the claim that they only needed rinsing. It's absolutely true. I bought some special cleaning tabs and I've used them only a few times - always when traveling and some sort of juice has been forgotten for days. (It's so easy to clean them out this way - warm water plus cleaning tab, 30 minutes later it's brand new inside) Great for lunches or backpacks, no glass to shatter or plastic lining to transfer taste. Can't live without them now.

  • It's chipping!

    By ATAY0ZVUOUGNQ on 2007-11-15
After lots of research, I purchased my kids each a Sigg cup and a Klean Kanteen. While I like the LOOK of the Sigg cup better, I am so disappointed with the cup's performance. We haven't had these cups more than a couple of months and all ready there are dents and chipping paint. I know it has this "leach-proof liner," but I wonder how well it works when the cup is dented. My son's cup I can't even give him, as he is only 1 and I worry that he'll bite it and injest some of the chipping paint. I am so shocked that these cups get such great ratings. While I'd definitely buy another Klean Kanteen, I would never, ever buy a Sigg again, especially not for a young child. My daughter is older and more careful with hers, but even hers has a couple of spots where the paint is starting to wear. She does love her cup, a 20oz Sigg and will be so disappointed when I wind up tossing it. Sigg cups are so expensive. I expected that it would last for years, not merely a couple of months.

  • Not quite what I had expected...

    By AWR0QD0GHXFX0 on 2007-11-25
I bought one of these to try for my 18-month-old since it's made of aluminum and it says it is leak proof. However, the lid, when open, spills everywhere. It is fine for drinking water outside, but he spills it everywhere in the car. I intended to use them for milk, but since they leak, we have only used them for water. Another thing, my son who can open plastic water bottles, cannot open the lid himself so that makes him frustrated. I love the idea but will wait to buy more when he is older. Plus, it is expensive. Why can't anyone make a perfect non-leaking, better-for-baby sippy cup!?

  • Not a great item for baby or toddler, but quality product.

    By A1AAAFV49LVBZ2 on 2008-02-23
I purchased one of these in each size for each of my 3 children, and while the product met my expectations quality wise, this is not a great item for a baby or toddler. My youngest is 15 months, has no problems holding the bottle or drinking from it, I would recommend if you are buying this to get a pouch, as when filled with cold liquids the container itself is very cold to hold. She really likes the bottle and the only reason I won't buy her another until she is older is that the flow from the mouth piece is fast and very "airy" she is swallowing as much air as she is liquids, causing her to "choke" on it a lot. I like the fact that with the lid on and cap closed this bottle is spill proof, and even when left open and on its side very little liquid will leak out. Overall this is a great product, but more for kids who are a little older. (3 or so)

These leak proof, durable, fun, easy to clean bottles replaces the sippy cup and lasts forever! They are more expensive, but they cannot even be compared to plastic bottles or cups.

When traveling, it is not always easy to clean sippy cups - this one only needs to be rinsed with hot water. Great for kids who want to be independent but still need the protection of the "sippy cup" concept. The loop for the screw on cap allows easy attachment onto luggage or a carabiner. Many designs to choose from, for kids and adults too!

Sigg Switzerland Aluminum Bottles are a "JetWithKids" recommended product!

  • Safe and plastic-free, cute, not ideal top for young kids
    By A3UTHRF9N30KID on 2007-12-03
I purchased the SIGG because I wanted a water bottle for my kids that was safe and Bisphenol A (BPA) free. I wanted to avoid all the dangerous plastics including #1 polyethylene terephthalate (PET or PETE), #3 polyvinyl chloride (PVC) and #6 polystyrene (PS).

I also wanted a bottle that was NOT made in China as that country seems to have no safety standards.

I had concerns about the SIGG liner, so I contacted SIGG via their online email and while they won't say exactly what is in their liner (it's a secret,) they did send me the following email, "We can ensure that non of any of these plastics DEHP, PET, PETE and PVC contains in our liner." (Forgive the English...he's Swiss and considering it was his 2nd language, he did a great job.)

So, I bought 4 bottles and love them. I know my kids don't have any dangerous plastic toxins leaking into their beverages. My only complaint and thus the lack of a 5 star review is the lid. For little kids, a sippy style lid would be much better. This one, if left open/unscrewed just pours water if not kept upright. My kids have a lot more spills now. But hey, that's a small price to pay to keep the toxins away and out of their bodies!

  • dent dent dents
    By A2TBLG0ZM9ZG09 on 2007-11-12
I have had a couple of the big bottles over the past years and dents were not an issue. I know they are just on the surface, but for $12? Give me a break. Dropped from shopping cart, 1 dent, into car, 2nd dent, brought into house, 3rd dent. She loved my bottle like this and will love this one too. Just the denting....AAAUUGGHH.

  • Love them!
    By ABWXHVXJSJ688 on 2007-12-11
When I did research on water bottles, I found that Siggs could be put in the dishwasher. I've had good luck running my through the dishwasher, and washing off the lip in between. I will say, I don't use our bottles for anything but water.

My kids love the bottles and travel everywhere with them. They have replaced a lot of the useless Juice and Gatorade they drank with water, because now water is fun! Plus, we probably broke even in about 3 months by not buying water everywhere we went.

Every time I use mine I get compliments on it. The water stays colder than it does in a regular plastic bottle, and no sweating. I would highly recommend this to anyone who is currently using regular plastic water bottles.

  • Durable, keeps beverages cold
    By A9UX3FNH0F9PB on 2008-03-27
First off, I'll explain my reasoning behind purchasing this water bottle to clarify its function. My 4-year-old takes a lunch 3x per week to school, and is lactose intolerant. I prefer to have him drink water or Soy milk/Lactose-reduced milk over sugary juice boxes. The first half of the year, I just sent him with store-bought plastic mini-water bottles, which seemed inexpensive at about $2 per 8-pack. However, I wanted to reduce costs, waste, and also be able to send him to school with milk but avoid purchasing those over-priced soy milk boxes.

So the practical conclusion was to purchase him a small water bottle to put in his lunch box. However, I wanted one that would keep his beverage cold (with an ice pack in his lunch), would last long enough to be cost-effective, would not leak, and would stand up to outdoor hikes and banging around in his backpack. So far, this water bottle has met all expectations listed above and then some. The aluminum keeps drinks cold for 3+ hours, even when left out with no ice pack. Further, it is fairly easy to clean; we just hand wash it every night in hot soapy water. The cap comes apart to clean all the nooks-and-crannies as well.

Finally, the cute designs make this an attractive beverage container for even the pickiest of preschoolers. Highly recommended!

  • Not good for my 3-year-old
    By A3FZB4CPORCH0W on 2008-05-28
I bought a Sigg bottle for my 3-year-old daughter based on the glowing reviews. While I'm glad so many have had positive experiences with theirs, it hasn't worked out for us. First of all, everyone says how "durable" their bottle is. My daughter dropped hers exactly *once* onto our tile kitchen floor - and remember, she's only 3 feet tall - and it dented. Didn't scratch the powder-blue paint, but I was hoping for more from a "lifetime" purchase. Secondly, the external cap that looks like a rounded baseball cap is difficult for her to snap on. She's not the most dextrous kid on the block, but still, it requires two kid hands. Third, when you twist the bottle top to open the spout, there's no noticeable way to tell whether it's open or closed. There's a double-headed arrow but it has no verbiage or icons to show OPEN/CLOSED. The adult eye can tell that the stem in the center is low or high. So a person picking it up for the first (or second) time might wonder, is it open or closed? Fourth - and I'm just being picky now - when the bottle is empty, if the "baseball cap" isn't closed, the bottle's somewhat top-heavy and therefore easy to accidentally send skidding.

The non-leaching aspect is attractive but to me it doesn't outweigh the other issues. Tap water is good in our area, so we don't carry enough water with us to have an ongoing need for a truly safe portable water bottle. If it were, I'd be scouting for other alternatives.

  • Impossible
    By A23ES9IIAXZAXP on 2007-09-06
Gorgeous water bottle, but impossible to clean. The opening is just way too narrow. Also, lining or not, the water tastes metallic.

  • Cool stuff
    By A1B8Y5EQIAH7D1 on 2008-05-04
I didn't understand what the others were saying when they said this product had a "screw top." I thought they meant it was just like a regular water bottle that you had to screw off the cap every time you drank from it and hoped that it didn't fall down the cracks of a sewer or something and then lose it.

Nevertheless, I thought the design was cute and wanted to do my part in being more "green." And after paying $16 for a tiny little water bottle, I didn't want to spend another dime for another top, so I took my chances.

Turns out, the top is like a squirt bottle and you do have to twist it to open (just a half turn to open and close), but it's not another piece that comes off and have to keep track of every time you take a swig. Granted, it is not like a sippy cup so there is still a little bit of drippage if it's on the side, but it's definitely not the waterfall I had envisioned from how others had described it.

Overall, it's cute and I feel good that we are saving on a few disposable water bottles. It would have gotten five stars from me had it been a little cheaper (why does "saving the earth" have to be so expensive???).

  • Cute graphics, but not worth it.
    By A31NBVR1QIPH1L on 2008-06-05
I am so disappointed. I really wanted to like this because I am a "graphics girl" and have a tendency towards good design---and non-BPA products. But as a mother of a 3 year old and 2 year old toddler, functionality and practicality win. This is impossible to clean without the sigg brush--which throws this in the category of being a $25+ cup. Price aside, within one week of owning this, my 3 y.o drops it (did i expect her not to?) and dents it--and she has a hard time closing and opening it, so it is constantly SPILLING. So what's the point? This would be great for a 5y.o plus child. It's still wonderfully designed, but you must consider the audience.

  • My kids love them
    By AVVXQNEDBW86C on 2007-12-27
My 4 & 6 year olds have had their Siggs for a little over a year now. While there are a few dents, the paint isn't chipping. My 18 month old got one for Christmas this year since he always tried to steal his sisters' Siggs. He doesn't seem to have any trouble with the lid. I usually keep it closed unless he's actually drinking. Yeah, it spills, but what kid doesn't spill regardless of the cup (even the "non-spill" cups leak)?

  • Good option to plastic, BUT.... (2 little negative features)
    By A2LQHLM7YCAMBV on 2008-05-29
I bought this for my 11 month old daughter after seeing how much she liked my SIGG bottle. (And of course, it is a great alternative to BPA plastics.)

Why not 5 stars? Two things:
    (1) It dents. Just a warning. It is not so forgiving to drops as plastic water bottles, but it is all cosmetic.
    (2) The lid that comes with it twists up and down and that is not only hard for little hands but also makes it a leaky cup (even for my 3 year old who forgets to close the lid). I suggest that you buy an additional "active" lid, which seals by itself to be leak-proof when the child isn't drinking. My daughter loves the active lid. It keeps her from drowning from too fast of a flow. (When you buy another active lid, buy the whole lid, because some of the mud caps have different sized hinges and can't just be popped from one bottle top to the next, as you might expect them to be able to do.)

It is very portable and doesn't leak unless you leave the valve open. I put it in my bag without worries, which I didn't do with any other sippy cups.

  • so much fun!
    By AEAF1LUYBQR45 on 2008-06-02
So far,so good. My three year loves his new dinosaur water bottle. I bought one as well for my 1 1/2 year old son, to try and wean him off the "ba-ba". I've been using the sippy cups for him and became worried over the whole toxic plastic issue. One word of advice though would be to not use this sport top bottle in lieu of sippy spouts, especially if you're child is not ready to let go. Now in addition to this somewhat expensive bottle, i'm looking at buying a "sippy-style" one too. Also, this is not a bottle that can be used in a laying down/lounging position as it drips.

  • finally - a lunchbox-sized reusable water bottle
    By AA76TWKFBB7UM on 2008-07-06
I don't like all the waste (and mess) from single-serve juice boxes or pouches. My daughter won't drink the 2% milk she could get in the lunch line at school. It isn't safe to reuse water bottles. Most thermos drink holders are too big for a lunch box. No retail store that I searched offered a safe, leak-proof, lunch box-sized reusable drink bottle. Finally I found what I've been looking for on-line in the SIGG Eco-Friendly Kids Water Bottle. It is small, cute, leak-proof, and easy for my daughter to use. It doesn't leave a weird taste on the water or milk that I put in it. The top disassembles easily for cleaning. the only thing that would make it better would be to make it dishwasher-safe and insulating.

  • No sippy lid, better for toddlers, great product
    By A2BHK4FHWSRKQJ on 2008-08-25
This water bottle is great for toddlers and older children. I purchased this for my month old, though I was pretty sure he would not be able to use it yet. I was right, he will not be able to use it for awhile, but when he will be able to use it it will be an excellent product for him. I have one of the 32oz. bottles and my 6 year old daughter has a .4 liter bottle. We love them, though my daughter's bottle scratched a lot quicker than I had anticipated, it is still functional and has no dents. This bottle is a great choice for people looking for an alternative to plastic bottles!

  • Great water bottle for toddlers.
    By A2594RG4B20CJA on 2007-10-17
Easy to hold, my child loves the top of it, and it keeps water cold in hot summer months.

  • Great purchase
    By A2FWNXU8LTWLRD on 2007-12-19
I bought these for my 2 toddler over a concern for the plastic cups and I am very pleased with them. They are easy to clean and use and the kids love them. The water tastes pure compared to water from the plastic cups which always seem to carry the tast of the plastic or our dish soap.

  • Excellent design!
    By A1CQX3VS609ESL on 2007-12-23
I just received this product to put in my son's stocking! It's adorable! It's sturdy with a well made lid and sippy spout! Plus it's not plastic so there's no worry about toxins. And it was made in Switzerland as opposed to China where so many of our "problem products" have recently been made!
It is a little more costly then your average plastic china-made Walmart cup but for peace of mind the price is well worth it!

  • non-leaching
    By A2TD2R21XB9LOY on 2008-02-23
The main reason I bought this product was for it's non-leaching qualities. I love this size for the lunch box. I have the other sizes to. I wish the caps didn't crack so easily. I have never cracked mine, nor has my daughter but my son has cracked two of them now. Should make ones that are more "liitle" kid proof. Overall a great product. I now have 6 of them.

  • Great so far
    By A2SOKXMYWDPZ3G on 2008-03-26
We've only had this bottle for a couple of days but so far my 16 month old loves it! I highly recommend getting the bottle grips though. The bottle gets quite cold when you pour chilled water into it.

UPDATE: my son dropped the bottle and the cap broke. Having trouble finding a replacement cap. The Mud Cap and the ABT Mud Cap don't work with the 0.3L bottle!

  • is lining BPA free?
    By A32KFBOULWTWGL on 2008-04-17
Every member of my family has one Sigg bottle. My kids love the designs and I love not going through so many plastic water bottles. Plus my kids get the floride in our tap water, which is pretty tasty, filtered and cheap. But, does anyone know if the lining of the bottle BPA free. After reading about canned goods, including infant formula cans, have BPA in the lining of the cans, I'm not so sure. That is the only reason I gave the product 3 stars, otherwise I love my Sigg bottle.

  • Child loves it!
    By A1WJI7177N5NC2 on 2008-05-03
My toddler loves his new water bottle. It is perfect and he had no trouble learning to drink from it.

  • Reducing plastic
    By A182WPNMLRPVOR on 2008-05-15
I purchased this for my 2 and a half year old. With all the recent BPA plastic issue I wanted something safe and environmentally friendly. My daughter can hold it and use the sippy function easily. I'd recommend it as a safe, environmentally friendly alternative to plastic water bottles.

  • LOVE IT
    By A3M9H1S4LQHPWK on 2008-05-19
This is great for children, my son is 2 and we use them at home and at his day care. Good for parents who are concerned with the recent BPA chemical found in plastics used for babies and kids. My son has a hard time turning the knob open and closed, but other than that we are very happy with this product.

  • Too small
    By A2SZ409T152HBG on 2008-05-25
Product is way too small for anything. The 0.4 liter is a much better size

  • Love it!
    By A2T72M80XJSLP on 2008-05-30
This water bottle is great! It's the perfect size for my 20 month old, who drinks from it all the time.

  • Perfect for little kids
    By A1F9CW42BDPKC3 on 2008-06-02
I purchased this water bottle for my friends 2 year old to give a safer option from the plastic bottles. The 2 year old loves having her own water bottle. The sport top only has an open or closed option so it created some small messes when it was left open. The 2 year old does like the sports tops that come on the .6L which are a no leak push to open.
