Annoying By A4CKPCBP1XNLB on 2007-07-20
The case and functionality with the device are nice. The magnetic closure is effective and quick to use, and if you've set your device correctly, email will open automatically as it should when the Blackberry is removed from the case.
However, the belt clip is terrible. Even if you're just a bit overweight, the top of the clip will jab you in the "love handles" section of your sides. The clip is extended in a way that makes no sense - for leverage when unclipping, I guess, and it's terribly frustrating. Not to mention the fact that it gets snagged on things and will break. I'm on my second holster already.
The Blackberry Curve is a great device. But I'm not sure there's a better clip/holster alternative for it. I wish there were - or that RIM would fix this holster clip.
Breaks much too easily By ADAAINI6O5RH6 on 2008-04-26
I've purchased two of these and both have broken at the swivel. The first broke after about three weeks. I caught it on something, so I wasn't too disappointed that it broke. But I did think it broke too easily.
The second one broke after about ten days of use but this time it was clear that it shouldn't have failed. It came apart with such little use that I was forced to leave this review to warn other that this product has a design defect. Which is quite unfortunate because in every other way it is a great product--looks good and the magnetic closure is cool.
The swivel mechanism is just a small piece of weak plastic. It will break and break quickly. It is junk and should be avoided.
Wear inside front pocket, not outside your belt!! By A21KAETYVKG0ZG on 2007-11-16
Watch Video Here: http://www.amazon.com/review/R2FBY4YFMBPOIW With a little modification, this holster can be a lot more convenient. When you clip these kind of cases to your belt, it isn't too long before it gets caught on something and breaks! Remember the old days of pagers, when you could carry them inside your pocket or on your belt? The free BlackBerry "calculator case" included with my phone was almost perfect... but it didn't have a clip so when I placed the case in my front pocket, it fell to the bottom of my pocket and made it impossible to reach when the phone was ringing.
This optional holster is strong enough to hold the phone on its own, so the little magnetic flap is unnecessary and prohibits you from simply turning the case around and placing the whole thing inside your pocket. But with a pair of scissors, the only thing showing outside your clothing is the small plastic clip. Because of the officially-licensed "proximity sensor" built into this case, you simply slide the phone back in to the case in your pocket and it automatically locks the keys from accidentally speed dialing your boss. Just cut off that stupid front flap and this case is perfect for anyone with a little touch of modern style, unless you're happy looking like some wannabe superhero with a utility belt.
Tight fit w/ skins By AV8VCLW3TQHG6 on 2007-10-08
If you are going to put a skin on your 8300 you should purchase the 8800 OEM holster. The 8800 is a little wider than the 8300 so the 8300 w/ a skin fits perfect.
Excellent Product - Could Use a Redesign By AI6KIYJJJYFU7 on 2007-10-12
The official 83xx series holster works quite well. It has all the usual Blackberry holster features (selective notification, instant screen off, etc.).
A number of reviewers have complained that the top of the belt clip pokes them in the side. My fix for that is to simply swivel the clip around and clip from the bottom (see images). The clip is a "J" spring design so it will still securely hold your Blackberry. The only problem with this method is the swivel has a stop that prevents the holster from rotating 180º (to prevent full rotation and the subsequent loss due to gravity). This forces front loading (vs. top loading).
A slight design change in the swivel mechanism and this problem would go away.
Get the inexpensive protective film from Best Skins Ever (total body) and you are set to go.
- Blackberry 8300 OEM leather pouch
     By A2VUZ4YBPVMRBS on 2007-08-18
I purchased this because this model was the only OEM clip/holster/leather case that I could find and Amazon has it the cheapest I've seen yet. I am very please with it. I did second guess it after reading reviews on here about it, but for my needs it works great and I have no negative issues with it.
I was very impressed with the seller as well. The product arrived in no time.
- I share the VER SAME thoughts ! ! !

THIS IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS GOING TO WRITE. So here it is :)
- Excellent product
     By AOQ2Z8RDNQRLS on 2007-08-16
I was very pleasatly surprised to find this item to be the genuine article. It is in fact made of soft leather with the blackberry logo. The BB screen does go dark when inserted in the holster, fits in perfectly and the magnetic flap works like a charm. The swivel clip works well and as intended also. The best part is that this item cost me about half of what I would have paid to RIM (if they had it in stock!). I would definitely buy from this seller again.
- So far so good
     By A8O29TMU46FYW on 2008-02-29
I just got this case today for my T-Mobile Blackberry Curve 8320 so while this review may be a bit premature, I figured I'd never get around to doing one unless I do it now. The case looks and feels nice. The leather is of good quality but it's a bit soft. The clip and swivel feel pretty solid so far. The whole case is a bit bulky so this is really only for wearing on your belt. If you flip it around and clip it in your front pocket, it bulks out too much to be comfy. I'd be self conscious of it sticking out. I also bought one of those generic skins and the BB fits fine in this holster even with the skin on. The elastic on the sides of the holster flexs enough to allow it to fit.
Both sides of the holster have a indent to protect the trackball but I find that putting the phone in backwards (screen facing the clip-side) works better. The backside has a long indented track (like the case that came with the blackberry) to protect the trackball but the front side has a fixed indentation point which only protects the trackball when it's in its fully holstered and lined-up position. I find that putting it in with the screen facing out results in the phone activating and dialing the last call. Although the holster is suppose to disable the keypad and turn off the screen, it doesn't quite work well with the phone facing frontward. I think it's just that by the time the magnet sensor is in the right proximity to the phone, the buttons or trackball has already been pushed. Sometime I'll put it in and the screen will go dark but then when the phone is fully inserted, the screen turns on again, then off again and then dials the last number! So, I'll just have to stick to putting it in backwards where the trackball is protected the entire length of the holster.
- I got a defective one - Would you? Love to holster destroyed by breach of trust.
     By A709RZQT0G5LX on 2008-03-05
I used this for 4 months and loved it. The love was shattered when trust was lost. While riding an escalator I brushed against the holster (I guess, as I didn't feel any impact) and the clip disconnected from the case sending the holster and the blackberry down the escalator steps. I got a defective one (see pictures uploaded). Would you? Blackberry wasn't affected, so this review deserves two starts, but since the Blackberry landed so close to the platform edge the product gets a single star. Are you a manufacturer or a seller? Does this product worth a better review or another chance? Prove me wrong send me another pair. Until then, this review stands, pictures show the defects, and I thank Web 2.0 for allowing me to influence the future quality of a product as buyers vote with their wallets.
- 2 broken in under a week
     By A1JNGE2D4808DL on 2008-04-13
Something is wrong with these. My pearl version worked for years, had two of these where the clip fell off in under a week. to bad since its a nice case.
- Not as good as it looks
     By A2JD7JLXFXX95M on 2008-05-24
Ordered this at the beginning of April. within a month the clip on the back broke off. I really liked the case and the clip worked well but one day it simply fell off. The phone in the case fell to the floor.
- Don't be fooled
     By A7HMXNIRYC152 on 2008-05-27
I thought this was going to be a great product. I paid a great price for it but I definately got what I paid for. THe holder broke the same day I purchased it and I was not able to fix it. I wouldn't buy this product again. May be inexpensive but it was a waste of money.
- swivel clip broke within 3 months of use
     By A2A8P5ANT2IFY6 on 2008-02-26
great functionlity and worked as needed. But just need to last longer.
I used plastic holster came with 8700g for over 2 years and it's still working. but swivel click on this one broke in 3 months.
I will not replace it with same holster.
- I bought 2, 1 didn't work that much and broke fast (unhappy)
     By AVENGI91GYWCR on 2008-05-05
It seems to me that the mechanism is very weak. I lost my money with one of the two I bought.
- RIM (OEM) BlackBerry® 8330 Swivel Holster - Pitch Black
     By AWMSEWRDQ0IWD on 2008-06-15
My first Hollster came with the phone. The clip broke after two weeks it got caught on my car seat. I purchase a new hollster and the clip broke after Three weeks. Poor design and would not recommend don't waste your money
- Blackberry Curve Holster already broken
     By A25HE0IG2VRZ7L on 2008-06-18
Curve Holster lasted only 3 weeks. Belt clip is held on with a cheap welded plastic button that didn't hold. Don't buy it. It's like throwing your money away!
- Piece of junk
     By A1QSYZBM3FFAJ1 on 2008-06-29
This is the first time I have been driven to write a review and unfortunately it is not for positive reasons. This holster is very poorly designed and within 3 months I have had the clip break off from 2 holsters. I had purchased a similar hoster inthe past for my older blackberry model and did not have any problems; given my expereience and other reviews I read here there is something at fault in the design for the hoster for the Blackberry Curve model.
Very disappointed ...
- Works great just as descibed and at a cheap price.
     By AVINACEFSL56Q on 2008-07-10
I read a lot of reviews about the clip breaking off and I have had the case for about a month now. It works great and seems to be fairly sturdy without any problems.
- The Clip Will Break.
     By A225FWH5WRMQW6 on 2008-07-15
I really wish I had read the reviews before I bought this case. The clip will eventually break, probably within just a few weeks of regular use. I actually bought two of them with the same result. I was fooled twice. It's very cheaply made.
- don't play to ruff with it on
     By A3C9C5D660TB4Q on 2008-07-22
This clip is good but just don't play to ruff with it on the clip part will break
- Very Good Holster!
     By AH972CC11LBKR on 2008-07-23
Very Good Holster! Could be better if magnet closure was stronger. I would definitely recommend this holster to anyone looking for a good looking, very functional holster case.
- Ditto
     By ANTRFKX2FY2AH on 2008-07-30
Bought this to go with my 8330 Curve - the clip broke within two days of use. Reading all the other experiences, I guess I'm off to hunt for a new holster.
- Life Expectancy - 3 weeks
     By A3LWB2AHXVVS0 on 2008-08-04
The case is great, looks good and does its job... for about three weeks. The first case broke in two weeks time at the clip, Amazon was great about replacing it. The second one broke just after four weeks. I would typically expect a case like this to go for $20 and made of higher quality. But since i'm seeing it being sold for under $10, i'd say its fair to say someone cut serious corners on quality.
And here's the kicker, there isn't another case out there, that looks this good and works this well ... that is for the three weeks it will last.
- blackberry curve case
     By A3SJ372HY5QWH6 on 2008-08-13
Love it! Came as ordered. Quick. Feels soft, easy to flip open. clips on. GREAT
- very nice case, very poor clip
     By A2UNXX4RY49I6Y on 2008-08-14
As a case, this product is excellent -- nice leather with magnetic latch -- protects the phone very well. As a clip-on holster, this product fails miserably. Broken clips on two cases in six months convinces me that I won't be purchasing this product again. The plastic swivel is too weak and any bump at all makes it snap.
Re. the suggestion from a previous reviewer that one place the phone inside a pocket and clip it to that pocket -- why have a clip at all? If that is the plan, why not just buy a case without a clip?
- What a deal!
     By A1MPR0SJPTT73I on 2008-08-15
$8.50 for the same genuinue Blackberry leather holster that the AT&T store wanted $30 for. It works great.
- Buy lots of spares
     By A1V0J86AWHPI7H on 2008-08-26
The case is outstanding in the leather portion, but if you have any job or hobbies that involve climbing in, on, or around tight spaces expect to break the clip off the case; numerous times. The other downfall is the Blackberry requires the magnet in the case to lock the phone on holstering, finding aftermarket cases when your on the road all the time is inconvienent so you have to go back to the closest carrier store.
- More Broken Clips
     By A1Z3D8M7OET53K on 2008-08-26
Just want to add to the list of failed clips. I had one of these cases as did one of my friends. Both broke at the swivel in less than a month. Nice case but defective design.
- Broke within 30 minutes
     By AVFUQG0FA5263 on 2008-09-02
I was pretty excited about getting my belt holster. It looked like a pretty quality product and was happy I wasn't going to have to keep it in my pocket anymore.
I got in my car to go to work, drove there, and parked. I stepped out of my car, and *snap*. The belt clip broke and my Blackberry fell to the concrete. At least the case protected it from the fall. But the plastic belt clip is worthless and makes this product unusable. I got about 30 minutes of usage out of it before it broke. And mind you, I'm not even overweight. It was on my left hip, I stepped out of my car to the left, and it broke. Very unhappy.
