Looks Great but WAY OVER PRICED By A2XTYW9JKAQHDY on 2007-10-26
The stand is fantastic for my Dell Inspiron 17 inch laptop. Its stylish, slick, and does exactly what its suppose to do. So why the so/so review? I can't stand companies who charge exhorbant amounts of money for this type of stuff! I work in the plastics industry and I know how much these things cost so charging you $30 is way too much. The equation is simple Value = quality/price. The price for this is WAY too much. They know they can get away with it so they charge you $30 when something like this should cost no more then $15.
Its good, it does the job, but value wise it fails due to its very high price.
This is the one to choose ... seriously By A3R1WFO4KIUQXZ on 2008-06-17
I was concerned from the product photo that the Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand wouldn't raise my notebook high enough, so I was tempted to go for one of the adjustable stands. I am very happy I chose the Logitech. The angle could not be more perfect, the manufacturer obviously knew exactly what was ergonomically correct when they designed the stand, the center of my screen is exactly in the middle of my field of view. When in use, the stand basically disappears. Despite a ridiculously high price for a piece of plastic, it does exactly what it should, so to me it was worth the price. The adjustable stands I've seen are fussy and wobbly. In particular, the xbrand has small wheels that could send the notebook flying off the edge of the desk if it is accidentally bumped. Almost every other brand raises the front edge too high. Some, like the xbrand have trap doors you have to open to access front-mounted controls. I think many manufacturers take a simple concept and try to complicate it. That is one thing no one will ever pin on Logitech! This stand is a totally simple design. My home office is probably a bit stylish but I absolutely need functionality ... I work at my computer 12 - 14 hours a day. I hated using my notebook before, now with an HP wireless keyboard and mouse and the Logitech Alto Express Notebook Stand I hardly know I'm not using my desktop PC. I think this notebook stand is the winning entry.
PROS: Perfect viewing angle, rock-solid support, looks beautiful
CONS: Hey, it's a three-dollar piece of plastic with an insane profit margin, but I'd rather pay more for something that is perfect than something that misses the mark.
elegant By A2EQHUEC8NUV7W on 2007-08-08
this product is beautiful, and elegant, and well made. The width does not span the entire width of my 17" laptop, but it feels secure much less, and allows the heat to escape underneath and at the back of the stand.
A reasonable solution for most laptop users By AN85G70HW0YQH on 2007-10-09
I have tried 4 different solutions for laptop riser stands, and this one ends up being the one we use/like the most.
We have the alto keyboard stand and that was unusable straight out of the box, as the laptop would keep sliding off of it.
Pricey for a sheet of plastic By A3TYMC6QAIACUW on 2008-01-07
Don't get me wrong it works for its intended purpose, but looks like it is worth $5 to $10. If you have a front loading DVD/CD such as a Macbook Pro you had better look at another. The stand also moves easily on a smooth table top. This could cause problems. It's just pricey for what it is.
- Very functional, very elegant
     By A10KCAK279LO0W on 2008-02-07
Beautiful form factor. It holds the laptop up nice and high. With my 15" MacBook Pro, it is exactly as high as the laptop will allow (the screen cannot bend back any farther), so the screen is at an excellent level for working at a desk.
The only reason I didn't give this item five stars was because of the price. Something this simple should cost even less. That said, it does exactly what it promises.
- Graceful Desktop Accessory
     By A259LPXDG6OP23 on 2007-09-02
Can highly recommend this laptop stand, it's a simple but beautiful design, with a gentle curve in the middle to help with airflow to your laptop.
At this price it's a case of stop looking start buying.
- Nice design
     By A3WJEH08R7O6D on 2007-09-06
Stylish and rubust design, make me comfortable when watching movie in the bed. I do not need to look down to the screen any more.
Though it is a little bit expensive.
- good product, still needs keyboard
     By A1COS9QR0VV05M on 2008-03-23
This product is great. My 17in. is a little longer than the stand, but it fits just fine and secure. Lets heat excape, slim design, light weight, etc. The stand brings the monitor up to eye level so you don't have to bend your neck to view. However, I failed to think about the uncomfortable typing on the stand. So I also had to purchase a seperate keyboard to use. Just plan ahead and buy the keyboard also.
- Nice stand but beware
     By A24QX6M2GAHF0T on 2008-07-20
I was looking for a notebook stand for my Macbook Pro but I didn't want to pay too much, this Logitech product was the best cost/value I found. The stand itself is very simple, just a piece of plastic althought very nice looking but it is almost perfect for me. My big problem is that the MacBook Pro has the DVD Drive at the bottom and because of this is imposible to put or eject disks without manually lifting the notebook :(
It's not so much of a problem inserting the disks because you know "when" to lift the notebook but the problem is when for example I am burning a CD with Toast and the software automatically ejects the disk. This action make the cd stuck against the table and I have to manually lift the notebook and push the cd back in and then manually eject the cd again, this time having the notebook lifted of course.
Anyway, if you notebook's drive ejects CDs by its sides I think you will like it.
Price: $11.99 + shipping = $18.76
Value: 5/5
Usability: 3.5/5
- Buy this thing!
     By A3BIM9JP7IOJWK on 2007-11-02
This is WELL worth the money. I love it and it fits my 14" IBM Thinkpad T30 like a champ. Pretty slick looking, too. I wouldn't buy it for anything over a 14" laptop, though, at least until Logitech comes out with one that fits a 15.4" and a 17" laptop, then I would be all over it like white on rice.
- Useful and durable
     By A17T95A7I8MRWZ on 2007-11-11
this is a good purchase because it makes viewing the screen easier. ONE issue is that if you have an apple laptop with a front-side loading CD drive you have to pick up laptop off the stand to put CDs in.
- You need to match it with your own wireless mouse/keyboard
     By AX9DATZS8NJ9T on 2008-02-14
Pros: good stylish design. you have to match it with your own wireless mouse/keyboard
Cons: Upto 15.4 laptop, not designed for front loading drives, expensive, logitech coupon limited to one per home address. no cooling pad decking option. not portable/non collapsible for transport.
- Works like a charm. Not ideal for Macbook Pros though.
     By A2ZONOYHYELB96 on 2008-04-11
The Alto Express performs as promised: sturdy construction and a sexy, sleek design. All who are looking for a notebook stand that will complement their titanium or black Apple laptops need look no further.
If there is a customer who needs to be wary of the Alto Express it is the owners Macbook Pros. The curve of the stand does not allow for frontside CD entry. (It seems the architects behind the stand designed it for side entry CD-Roms.) No matter. The laptop will have to be slightly lifted from the stand in order to insert and eject CD/DVD's. Those who are looking for carefree ease of use, might want to consider another product (the Griffin line is a good place to start. Be warned the prices are steep!).
This aside, I am a happy owner of the notebook stand(even though I have a Macbook Pro.) Here's to happy lifting for CD use!
- Great for macbooks
     By AMSC4JT6HN9P4 on 2007-10-15
I have a 13-inch black macbook and it fits it perfectly. The angle allows me to tilt the screen as far back as it goes and I can avoid hunching. I love it, and the black rubber feet matches the black macbook color perfectly. It is completely unobtrusive on your desk, looks classy and functions perfectly. If you're in a dorm room, you can even set it up on your desk and watch movies from your bed.
- Alto Express - well made and designed
     By A26IGD4P5EL9X on 2007-12-30
Alto Express - well made and designed but it's pricey @ $25 considering it's just a thick piece of curved plastic with rubberized ends. Logitech makes the best products hands down.
- Perfect Fit for Macbook Air
     By A38NWOMXWBNO9P on 2008-04-27
This notebook stand is an amazingly good fit for the Apple Macbook Air, and it compliments the Air's styling very nicely. The missing 5th star is due to the price - this stand truly is a hunk of plastic with rubber feet. Having said that, it's one of the best looking hunks of plastic I've ever seen, with a beautiful flowing design that is enhanced by the sure-footed rubber at either end. It securely lifts the notebook at a modest angle compared to other stands I've used, but I've found the height to be quite adequate for my environment, and the space below the stand is a convenient place to stash a USB hub out of sight. Simple and functional.
- very nice item
     By AKGDOWG8O45D4 on 2008-04-18
very nice stand but if you have a 12 cell lithium battery on your laptop it tends to shift all the time because of the big battery on the back. all in all its ok if you don't mind the shifting.
- Excellent purchase
     By A36BPBFQELSDTD on 2008-05-05
Buying a laptop stand was recommended to me when I started working in my current office, and I am glad that I did. I bought this one because it was one of the cheaper options I could find, and I liked the way it looked. I am completely satisfied with this product, the only thing I would change if I could would be to make it adjustable height.
- light weight, stylish, portable
     By A231ZDQNG4G84L on 2008-09-16
This was one of the cheaper stands I found, yet it is so cute and matches perfectly with the mac book and mac keyboard. I can easily fit it into my backpack and I even drag it into bed to watch movies sometimes. Lightweight and practical.
- Great product for $$$
     By A747866CFRDRB on 2008-02-09
This product is great. It elevates my laptop to a good height and protects it from spills should they occur. Also it helps keep it from overheating since the underside allows it to vent. I would definitely recommend this to those on a budget.
- laptop stand
     By AAEBOGAJAPHRA on 2008-04-18
This stand sets the laptop at just the right height for viewing. Laptop stays very steady on this stand. Only problem...there are no holes for ventilation, so I placed a rolled up rubber shelf liner on the top which allows some air beneath the laptop. I would recommend this to anyone.
- Good enough - got it in a deal
     By AADYK95JZ7C5T on 2008-05-04
I use it on my desk for comfortable typing. Provides good air flow and looks classy. I did not want to spend $45 on other "branded" stands for my Macbook Pro. So got this one instead for $14 after MIR. But keep in mind, given the angle of this stand, there is no way you can use your laptop if you keep the laptop + stand on the floor.
Overall, it's a decent product.
- good deal a little pricey
     By ANTR1PD2OLBTT on 2008-05-04
It's plastic, but it does it's job and does it well and looks clean. It is highly priced for what it contains, but compared to other gimmicky stands-- it's affordable.
- Stylish
     By A2W2LHTFGIVMVC on 2008-07-10
It accomodates my 15" Satellite in a very stylish way on my very cluttered desk.
Leaves the screen at perfect height and secures the laptop in its place.
I will surely recommend buying this product.
- Perfect, although a little expensive
     By A1RFINGPQJGIAT on 2008-09-05
My laptop fits perfectly on it, looks good, and it's quite resilient. The price is not good, but anyway, i'm satisfied.

     By A34CL04CFNRVY8 on 2008-09-06
Awesome, the product was sent on time, arrived on time and was in excellent condition. I would recommend this product for anyone and from this company!
- serious flaws
     By A2DPENCES5X07J on 2008-09-27
I bought this on the strength of the claim that it works with most laptop computers. It does not work with my HP Pavilion 9700 series which just slides off. Any ports on the front of the computer are useless (on the aforementioned HP that means the remote control, the microphone and headphone sockets are unusable. I bought it to be comfortable watching TV and to use with Dragon Naturally Speaking. I can do neither. If that were not enough, I don't understand why it isn't perforated to allow airflow to the fan. There is a good idea here but this is poor execution.
Also, be aware of the small print saying you should use a separate keyboard and mouse which contradicts the claim that it de-clutters your desk.
- Works well for MacBook Pro
     By A3GVUFIVNQHZ3D on 2008-09-28
I use it all the time with my 15.4 inch MacBook Pro and my wife uses it with her work notebook. If you heavily use the optical drive on the MacBook Pro, this stand probably isn't the best but otherwise it's great.
- The best, but not perfect
     By AT8IZBH94Q9LL on 2008-09-30
Works great for my Dell Latitude D820, and would work just as well for any other non-apple laptop. However, costs about $10 too much based off what you actually receive. Also, as I like to move the stand on my desk, it squeaks hardcore when you try to move it backwards. Overall, a great purchase, just take those few things into account.
