  • Very Nice...but

    By A3K8ZWL4E7C49J on 2007-08-09
Since Im a bit obsessional about my iPhone (who isnt who actually owns one) I have 4 different cases for it.

This one is beautifully made and works very well.
My issues with the case are these:
The corners are cut away. Problem with that is the corners of this device are VERY vulnerable.
I dropped my phone while it was in a Speck Skin case. The power button was damaged because the switch which is on the corner took the impact.
I want a case that truly protects the phone.
I also bought an InCase leather iPhone case. I love this case. It's very slim and it covers the corners and it is hipper looking than the DLO.
The DLO is a bit conservative in it's looks.
Great if you wear wing-tip shoes. I dont.

The Speck skin case uses a clip to hold the phone. Bad idea. My phone popped out of that clip and I wound up having to get my phone repaired. (for $280 all together) Dont buy that case.

So the DLO is a beautiful case.
It's just not my personal style and I worry about those corners.
It's largely a subjective call when it comes to picking a case but I highly recommend the InCase cases.

  • Nicely made but exposes iPhone to damage

    By A1F9Z42CFF9IAY on 2007-07-13
The iPhone really needs a horizontal case like this one. It's a bit long and wearing it on your hip vertically makes it uncomfortable and unwieldy when you sit down. Whereas a vertical case eliminated this problem. In terms of looks, I feel horizontal and vertical both look equally as cool but a horizontal case is a lot more convenient, at least to me.

This DLO case is nicely made and seems durable but unfortunetly, there is a flaw in the design: the exposed open parts can make your iPhone very vunerable to scratches. I noticed a fairly deep scratch on the back of my iPhone right where the middle opening on this case is. It could have happened from a zipper, metal button or most probably from a rivet on my jeans coming in contact with the back of the iPhone through the slot. I am switching to another case that covers more of the iPhone.

Just a side note about rubber iPhone cases: I don't like the feel of the rubber cases at all-they feel weird in the hand. And the rubber cases tend to stretch out over time and this lets in dust and grit which can scratch the iPhone. Also Apple recommends you not charge the iPhone will in a rubber case because the heat will not be able to dissipate. This means you have to keep taking it out of the rubber case and putting it back in every time you charge. You can see that these types of cases are less than ideal.

  • Comfortable, Stylish and Secure

    By ABUZDS1DR9ANS on 2007-07-13
I ordered this case before I even had the iPhone, and I've been very pleased with it. I feel safe in wearing it during the day, at the gym, everywhere. I did originally want one with a belt loop option, but the belt clip has been perfect, and actually, quite sensible. I can take it off anytime without taking off the belt. Easily clip to something (I use the clip to keep the iPhone on my seatbelt while I'm driving for easy access). Great case.

  • Everything I hoped for.

    By A83RPS198D04S on 2008-03-16
This holster is a winner for me.
It is lightweight and comfortable to wear. The finish and quality of the product are outstanding and the price is reasonable.
You can feel the vibration of the IPhone through the holster and accessing the IPhone is easy.
The inside of the holster provide good protection for the iphone screen.
The clip is tight enough so there is no chance the holster will slipped out of your belt.
    Overall an excellent buy

  • keeps your phone safe if you know how to use it!

    By A3CW4EZUTEV0VC on 2007-12-14
This is the best case for your iPhone, bar none. I've tried several and have settled on the DLO case for 2 months now and taken it everywhere. Here are the great design features:

    a) solid construction: high quality leather, soft padding, stitching that will hold up unless abused with intent!

    b) cut-away areas: the corner cut-aways allow for exposure of the earphone jack, the switch on the top, the speaker, and the microphone. The center cut-away allows for easy removal.

Unlike other comments here, I don't see how the cut-aways allow for damage. If you place the iPhone with the glass protected against the solid back, the front panel is completely unexposed to the elements. In contrast, the cut-aways allow you to use the iPhone (especially as an iPod) without removing the iPhone from the case. With only a modest amount of care, it's pretty hard to expose your iPhone to abuse while it is in this high-quality case.

Other features: the velcro closure avoids (a) the magnet closure (since it is recommended to keep the iPhone away from magnets) and (b) the snap-closure (which would require you to press hard against the iPhone). Besides, a velcro closure is no louder than a snap-closure -- unless you are the type that pulls off bandages very, very slowly.

The price is right as well -- and cheaper than I've found in retail stores.

All in all, a great place to keep your iPhone.

  • Works great for my iPhone
    By AWV5BWS9PTH5K on 2007-12-18
This works as promised. I also purchased an "Apple iPhone Soft Polycarbonate Slim fit Case" and it does fit inside as well. I'm always dropping my phone, so I love being able to keep the polycarbonate case on it, even when it's in the leather case. (If I had to swap them all the time I wouldn't use the polycarbonate.)

  • Best Case for iPone so far!
    By A2PIQ3696HW0OR on 2007-09-11
Finding a good case for your iPhone is a lot of work. I'll save you a lot of time... If you are looking for this style of case, the DLO holster is the best. It is slim and has a perfect fit. Only downsides are the velcro flap (which is hard to open in meetings) and the case obviously offers no protection if the phone is outside of it. I understand the velcro flap instead of magnets because magnets have reportedly been fatal to iPones already. For the second downside - I use a Speck IPH-BLK-TS ToughSkin iPhone Case (Black) case for casual use around the house. However, the Speck case covers up the nice design and attracts all kinds of dust and lint. If you by one case, I'd go for the DLO!

  • Great case for your iPhone
    By A35PE6GS966EPN on 2008-01-24
I'm very happy with this purchase, the iPhone fits securely in the case and when you turn the phone with the screen in and the top of the phone facing the rear, the audio out is exposed to allow earbuds or headphones.

Some of the other reviewers commented that the corners are exposed, they are to a degree but it would be hard to really damage the corner with how little is exposed.

The case is very nice leather and has a quality feel to it. The belt clip is tight and has not fallen off my belt.

  • Nice Case but major flaw with the leather covered belt clip.
    By A3CEN1KNU51AD0 on 2008-03-13
I really like this leather case but find one major flaw with design. The leather-covered belt clip fits tightly over a belt but if clipped just to a pair of pants without a belt the case would occasionally fall off of my pants. I actually stopped using this case because I frequently do not wear a belt and the case pulled off of my pants numerous times, especially when sitting and wearing a jacket.

  • Excellent case
    By A36UHEXHP6DTAH on 2007-08-23
I bought this case for my iPhone after a different acrylic case wasn't cutting it. I have had nothing but good use out of this one. The material and craftsmanship are really nice, it fits the phone perfectly, and it looks really professional.
Some nice benefits I've noticed are:
Its very easy to use one hand to take out or put away the phone.
The nice Velcro latch holds the phone securely but also makes it quick to retrieve.
The belt clip is very well made, holds to your belt nice and tight (doesn't shift around), and seems as though it won't bend or break easily (my biggest problem with cell phone holsters throughout time).
It has access on all sides to the earphone jack so you can talk or listen to music without having to hold it.
And a feature that I'm not sure was done intentionally but something I've discovered over use, if you align the phone to have the volume buttons facing up, you can actually touch the leather cover over the buttons and the phone will feel it and adjust up or down depeding where on the leather you push (this takes a little practice to figure out where to push to adjust the volume, but is much quicker and easier than opening the Velcro flap).
Overall this is probably the best phone holster I've ever owned, period.

  • the belt clip is weak
    By APP209B8YAJY3 on 2007-09-10
This is a nice enough case but, after just 3-4 weeks use, the belt clip tore away from the back. There is insufficient reinforcement in this area. You may not be as rough on it as I was, but I have owned other, cheaper cell phone cases that never did this. Sorry to report this because I have liked other DLO products.

  • Good but....
    By AGEPO9ZNXDS9O on 2007-08-31
I tried several cases before I came across this one. It feels and looks like quality leather. Appearance is very important to me and I would give this case 5 stars on that rating.

It also does not bother me when on my belt clip. Some cases cut into my side to much and this case rides well. So 5 stars again on comfort.

I had some issues getting the phone out of the case in a hurry (ie: when you are getting a call). I assumed this would become easier as the case "broke-in." so 3 stars on ease of use.

However, my big complaint was that the stitching tore the leather along the side after about a month of use. I should add that I was being rather forceful getting the phone out of the case and my irritation did wonders for removing the leather from the stitching. However, I consider this a weak point of the case and would give it 2 stars on construction/durability.

That being said, I am buying another DLO because nothing else out there looks as good. I will be forced to use more restraint when removing the phone in the future or just buy a couple more cases as back-ups.

  • Slick looking case with two tiny flaws
    By A1UT0ANTQB3EJ1 on 2007-11-22
This is the second iPhone case I have purchased and it's the best looking and most comfortable to wear. The other case I purchased was a Case Logic Horizontal case. It was cheaply made but very very functional. I preferred the Case Logic's magnetic flap design way more than the DLO's velcro. The biggest reason why I hate velcro is because, in a meeting, if I want to get at my iPhone, it makes that annoyingly familiar sound. The other reason I hate velcro is over time it wears out.

The other small gripe I have with this case is because the inside is lined with a super soft leather and not suede, it makes it a bit difficult to remove my iPhone that has a Bestskinsever.com skin on it. The Case Logic had suede but it was cheap and after three days was already starting to separate from the rest of the inside of the case.

As far as the look and feel of the DLO case, a billion times better than the Case Logic. BTW, I bought the Case Logic case from Fry's Electronics in Tempe, AZ. The DLO is about half as thick as the Case Logic and I believe it is REAL leather. Not the fake stuff. It feels amazing and is very comfortable to wear. The headphone jack is easily accessable and so are the buttons (if you wear it like me on the left side).

Overall, for the price I paid, less than $18.00, this is one HELL of a case and I would buy it over and over again until DLO changes two things, a suede interior lining and a magnetic flap.

    Bottom line, BUY THIS CASE!

  • Sleek and Functional
    By A3CURC59B8KTZ9 on 2007-12-10
I bought this product at the AT&T store, and can't remember what I paid for it, although I'm sure it was more than it is here. So when it came up on my recommendations, I thought I'd give it a quick "thumbs up." The leather is of high quality, absolutely gorgeous, as is the stitching. The case itself is designed smartly to allow access to the headphone jack, and the horizontal position on the belt is a comfortable fit- I often forget that I have a phone on my belt. If you're going to spend $400 on a phone, spend the extra $20 or so to protect it with a quality case. Highly recommended!

    UPDATE:
When I first purchased this case, I was in love with it- the styling, ease of access to phone, and overall workmanship of the product. After about six months of taking it on and off my belt, however, the stitching around the clip started to tear away. Eventually, the leather and stitching around the clip tore off to the point that the holster was hanging from my belt. This may be attributed to some harsh treatment in my use, but I still believe that it should hold up a bit better.

Nevertheless, it is still probably the best belt-clip case out there for this phone, and I purchased another one. Hopefully, if I am more gentle when removing it, it will last for another year.

  • excellent design poor durability
    By A26R3SPXLM31W9 on 2008-05-04
I received this holster as a gift for christmas '07 and by May '08 the belt clip had nearly torn through the leather. I had noticed a loose bit of material but did not pay much attention for a couple of weeks. When I took a closer look I was shocked to see that there was only an inch or so of material still holding the belt clip to the leather. If the belt clip had torn completely off I would have lost the phone.

I loved this case as I did not notice I was carrying it and accessibility to the phone was great. Too bad I can't recommend it because of it's durability.

  • Poor Make
    By A32WNZ9KE9RR71 on 2007-08-12
I bought this from the AT&T store for protecting my iPhone. I would rate it well for access (when you get a call) or routine use (having headphone plugged in while listening to musing).

However, it ripped within two weeks, with the leather around the belt clip exposing pretty shoddy leather and cardboard beneath.

Stay away unless you are a very delicate user.

  • great horizontal case for iPhone
    By A2SUMRGEOFNGV0 on 2007-08-23
This DLO case is a great horizontal case. The hole at the bottom of the case makes it very easy to push out the iphone so that you can grab it well, without it slipping out of your hand. Not much of the iPhone is uncovered while in the case, except for the corners and a little bit of the side of the iPhone (because there is a hole at the bottom of the case). However, as long as you put the iPhone screen side towards you, the back of the iphone will not get scratched at the exposed parts. The leather lasts a while, and so does the velcro strap. It is very comfortable to wear as well, which is probably the most important aspect about using a case.

  • Great product for iphone
    By A2D0OT1SCQ7Q2R on 2007-09-05
Love it it keeps your iphone safe from scratches its easy and looks nice I highly suggest this product

  • Best affordable leather case for iPhone
    By A1CXASEYLBAZ66 on 2007-10-14
I have had several Blackberries and a Treo and have always preferred a horizontal case with a simple belt clip that was fully integrated into the case. I am surprised at how comparatively rare this is for the iPhone. However I don't think you need to look any further than this case if that's the style you like.

The leather seems to be high quality and it has a nice finish. The inside leather is very smooth and the phone slides in and out easily. One thing I really like is that it fits very snuggly, which means the external profile is as small as possible. The clip fits easily over a belt yet it feels like it grabs the belt firmly.

My previous cases used a magnetic clasp, but I understand that iPhones don't like magnets. The velcro closure is fine. A bit noisy but I don't foresee it being a problem. It's a different kind of velco that doesn't look like it will catch a bunch of lint.

One other reviewer says he has torn up the leather already. I don't see how that could happen. The leather is thick and the stitching seems strong. The logo is embossed in the leather and is unobtrusive. Overall I like this product very much and I am sure I'll enjoy it. If you want a low-profile horizontal leather case, this one is great.

  • Nice Case but failed after 1 months use
    By A2GM0HBR6BSDFS on 2007-11-16
iPhone fit perfectly, convenient to use, but belt clip tore off after 1 months use. Getting in and out of car too much for case. If removed from belt prior to entering/exiting car should last longer.

  • Ripped
    By A1HR4NAO8YTYBC on 2008-01-25
I love this case, but I wore it on the side of my hip, and like others have said," it ripped away from the metal clip." I hit the corner of my desk at work, and the metal clip pulled away from the rest of the case.

I will buy it again though, at the price I am not to upset.

Make sure to wear it in the front to avoid this, or be careful where you walk.

  • Does exactly what is it supposed to do.
    By A3REAI2ZQDDLPQ on 2008-03-13
I have had the product now for about a month and honestly, I have absolutely no complaints with it. It works the way it should, it is small and doesn't get in the way and just simply, does what it is supposed to do.

It allows for easy access to the phone and to the headphone jack.

Great product and I would recommend to anyone.

  • Good Quality, decent price.
    By AFROEJC791W5Q on 2007-07-29
I picked one up at the AT & T store. I would prefer a "gel" or "skin" for my iPhone, but AT & T didn't have one in stock, and I was tired of not having a suitable case. The leather case fits well, and keeps the phone postioned vertically so it's not too bulky if you wear it as a belt clip. It's not too bulky for just sticking in my purse.

  • That's what I'm talking about!
    By AQTLYM367GTB on 2007-07-29
If you're looking for holster-style belt clip for your iPhone, look no further. The DLO Holster works great, and feels great, too. (My first case with belt clip was from Speck, which dug uncomfortably into my side.) There is also a cutout to allow moving the iPhone from holster to hand and back again without unplugging the headset; very handy if you need to look at the display while talking on the phone or listening to music.

  • Quality Speaks for Itself
    By A3S1ZZU6R9BOC7 on 2007-08-09
This case is well made and well constructed. Best case I've come across as a cellular and iPhone owner.

  • functional, but not ideal
    By A2V35UJNOR2YG7 on 2007-09-17
I like the horizontal fit when this is on my belt. it allows me to maneuver more naturally. however, i don't like the exposed corner and i would like being able to see who is calling more easily. i realize it's in an enclosed case, but flipping over the flap still reveals nothing.

i am going to look for a rubber-like case instead.

  • Ideal case
    By A2HMMH0EIO7SQG on 2007-09-26
    This is a great case.
Wearing it horizontally on my belt is very comfortable and I hardly notice it.
The cut outs enable you to remove the phone quickly and allow you to plug in the headphones, turn off the power and hear the two speakers on the phone. The clip is firm and secure and seems just like the one on my treo case that lasted two years worth of constant abuse. The corners of my phone do not need to be protected while in the holster, there is no risk of damage. The most peril my iphone is in is when I remove it from the holster and lift it to my ear when walking on concrete and of course the case doesn't help it here.
I could buy one of those cases that permanently covers the phone and then it would look like crap all the time but underneath it would be pristine, what's the point ? Most of us bought the iphone because it is the most beautiful piece of technology we have ever seen, this cover is practical and attractive.

  • Great Product
    By AOZS27E347W1L on 2007-10-11
great iphone case! Leather is of good quality, makes carrying the iphone perfect, protection from bumps and scrapes that other ones don't provide. Allows for connections (cables) and button operation even when in the case.

  • love this case
    By AHRV2MA56RX08 on 2007-11-03
purchased this case on the recommendation of a friend and I'm glad I did. Getting the iphone out of the case with one hand seemed a bit awkward at first but after 2 days, I didn't even think about it. Openings allow easy listening (both with headphone and without) and access to the silence button. Mini-velcro closure is seccure yet doesn't snag clothes. Clip holds the phone close to the body. An elegant case.

  • Very stylish
    By A10ZBR6O8S8OCY on 2008-05-23
This is a very well constructed leather carrying case for the iPhone. You can attach this to your belt and have the headset plugged in at the same time. The case is tight, well designed and protects the iPhone while in the case. The case is very tight at first, because it is leather, but will stretch slightly. You cannot fit anything other than an iPhone (meaning no extra protective sleeve) in the case.

Only complaint I have is that the iPhone has to be placed in a specific direction in order for the headphone jack to be useable. I wish it was constructed so that the jack could be used no matter which way the iPhone was placed.
