Brilliant! By A34YDWC3VGB366 on 2007-08-30
Flight Of The Conchords is one of the funniest concepts since Ricky Gervais unleashed The Office. Alot of people won't get it which is probably why HBO almost cancelled their show. Unfortunately, they can't match the scary success of Sex In The City. The genius of their comedy is woven into their songs with such clever skill that it takes several listens to catch all the subtle hilarious references. Eventually, FOC will get the attention they so justly deserve but probably not until sometime in the distant future...the year 2000.
Awesome blend of comedy and musical talent By AKKN6TTVWGAZY on 2007-08-10
Flight of the Conchords is hands down the funniest show on TV this summer, but Bret and Jemaine are also known for their wickedly funny live shows. This little EP showcases both their in-studio and live performances and provides a nice little taste of the full album to come in early 2008. I can't wait!
He's the Hiphopapotamus! By A3LQMSNRCR6W8R on 2007-08-08
his rhymes are bottomless!
these guys are too funny. can't wait for the full album.
Oh yes, it's definitely business time. By A2WVHUF7B99P3D on 2007-08-08
How wonderful for Flight of the Conchords that they're finally getting the attention they deserve, and by HBO no less. Their laidback, quirky humor, mixed with definite musical skills, always makes me grin. I hope they acquire a HUGE fan following.
By the way, Business Time is by far my favorite song.
It's the Best 5 Bucks You'll Spend Today By AFKEFE1JCKR4L on 2007-08-19
I'm glad these guys finally came out with a CD that's easy to get in the States. The studio tracks sound great, but the live stuff is what gets 5 stars from me. This EP provides a nice selection of different styles, and even a little bantering. The only way to improve this is to add more tracks, but it's a wonderful teaser until the full-length CD comes out next year.
- Love the band and the tunes, don't love this EP
     By A3I2NJOJGUNDPS on 2007-08-23
Like a lot of Americans I first found out about Flight of the Conchords from their live HBO show. In that show Bret and Jemaine were at top form. The energy they brought to the performance really showed and their songs were catchy and hilarious. So when I saw an EP would be released I immediately pre-ordered. Sadly, upon listening to the EP I have to say it's not that great. The first few tracks were recorded in the studio and while it was fun to hear a multi-track version of "Business time" it lost the passion and immediacy of the HBO live performance and falls flat. Also, the live performances on this EP sound like they were recorded after the band had toured for awhile and both Bret and Jemaine sound tired. The multi-track recordings of "If you're into it" and "Crying", both songs that I first heard on their HBO comedy series, are funny and sound great but they're not the best tunes these guys have done. I guess they're saving their crowd-pleasers for the full album, which is fine, but makes this EP a mixed bag.
- F.o. the C. are the greatest!!

Fellow robots or "robros" you need to get this!!!
This EP is great and I just can't get enough, I'm really looking forward to the full album. I became a fan of these guys back in 2005 when I first saw them on HBO and I am so glad that are now getting some real recognition.
Also amazon.co.uk has the "Complete BBC Radio Series" three CD set with a running time of three hours. Most of the material has been reused for the HBO show but it is all still very funny. You should check that out as well.
- Flight of the Conchords
     By A1MXOOMABHTRS7 on 2007-08-29
This is a great little tidbit from the best comedy team to date. These guys are very funny. The songs here are just a taste of the refreshing, new talent that the FOTC bring.
- genius!
     By A1Y5QK2C33M2TS on 2007-09-18
Bret and Jemaine really know how to make us laugh. Each of their songs are so funny and unique. Whether it's making a song about David Bowie's ever changing alter egos, when they flow as HipHopapotamus and the Rhymenocerous (their rapping names) or talking about how tough the world is because people have knives and forks in their legs (and getting diseases from monkeys). There is never a dull moment with them because you really don't know what to expect next. Just when you think you have them all figured out, they bust out a song about gettin freaky on Wednesday because it's "Business Time". Bottom line, they rock.
- Hilariously folksy and witty
     By AT2G41N36P5EB on 2007-11-27
Quirky, off beat with a groovy beat. Definitly not for the main stream. Probably a good idea to see the show in order to fully appreciate the songs but not a necessity. Cant help at least grinning when listening.
- Too short to warrant a higher score.
     By A35CWBE1PB029E on 2008-01-28
I really enjoy The Flight of the Conchords, and really enjoy the songs on the CD. The problem is, the length of it and the small amount of tracks aren't nearly enough to satisfy.
Also, because there are so few songs, there aren't many to chose from, and when you want to hear a little FOTC, you're hearing the same things again and again.
I think the tracks with the high production values have more of a place on studio releases than do live songs, so I'd have preferred if The Most Beautiful Girl In The Room and Robots were studio tracks, and Banter omitted (or replaced).
- Great sampling of FOTC wit
     By A35LMHYDT1ZR5Y on 2008-02-08
When FOTC's show first came out, I was instantly sold. I ordered this EP and their 'Folk The World Tour' (live album) from SmokeCDs. Both of these albums have their own unique edge. This one (Distant Future) will whet your appetite for FOTC Season 2 (WTF?) and remind you why you enjoy their show so much.
While I wish either this or the 'Folk The World Tour' album contained the studio/show tracks (i.e. for songs like BOOM!, Robots, etc.), these are still pretty good--especially for a (mostly) live album. You can also get free mp3s off their site--google 'em and you'll find a few not on either album.
With the live show recordings, there's a great freshness to their banter that illustrates just how talented these guys really are (esp. on the fly). Buy this...and don't forget to check out their 'Folk The World Tour' album, too!
- New Zealand Invasion!
     By A1F650POD326EJ on 2007-08-21
If you've seen the HBO series, you'll know what to expect in this EP. Flight of the Conchords are a bright spot in the comedy scene. With this CD, you'll get a great studio version of BUSINESS TIME (different than appeared in show), studio versions of CRYING and INTO (same as seen in show). Live renditions of BEAUTIFUL and ROBOTS with a track of "banter". With the ROBOTS track in particular, you'll hear how musical tight and comfortable they've gotten in their music, even since the One Night Stand special. A MUST for fans, and a great tease for the forthcoming FULL LENGTH album.
- this is great
     By A2W1EGOI8FU59Q on 2007-08-22
This cd is great for fans but also to enlist new fans who may never have listened to them. I make people who have never heard of them listen to "Business Time" and then they want the entire CD. This is a great cd.
- Love it, Love it, Love it!!!!!!
     By A1PJMPKDCBVRC0 on 2007-10-16
This cd may only be 6 tracks long but it makes up in humor. You get the best of their studio and live acts. Bret and Jemaine's vocals compliment each others so well. John Mayer wishes he could sing as soulful as Jemaine Clement. "I'm Not Cryin'" is so great, everyone's been there when you fool yourself that its just been raining on your face. I can't wait for their full length album, and hear great tracks from the show like Sellotape and Inner City Pressure. The live tracks are hilarious, they make up for the cd only being 23 min long, especially the "banter" track, when they talk to the audience, and the "Robot" song, with the binary solo, too funny. I have no idea why these guys aren's selling out stadiums.
- TFOTC cd Rocks the Town
     By A1T7TQLRJOK5VJ on 2007-10-29
Friends and family I bought the CD for (some have not seen the series on HBO) love the music. BUSINESS TIME was especially the HIT most people commented on. I would give it **** out of 5 for content. And Business Time an individual ***** rating all by itself for most original and close to home hit- EVER! Love you Jemaine! XOXO Mel
- Short but Sweet
     By A3UPVY1BJR9U3L on 2008-01-21
This is, undoubtedly, one of the most funny things of it's kind out there. I myself never caught the show (no cable...) but was introduced to this duo by the singer of my band via a youtube.com spot. The dry, sometimes plodding humor these two use, I find, is nothing short of hysterical.
As EPs go this one is fairly average length. However, the amount of comedy these two pack into that short time is well worth the expenditure. Most of my personal favorite songs from Flight of the Conchords are missing from this EP, but there are still some very funny songs here. "If You're Into It" I hadn't heard before but laughed out loud when I heard it here. I wouldn't have been disappointed if "Banter" had been replaced by an actual song, but it's still good for a smile.
It's a good EP to snack on while we're all waiting for the full-course meal due out sometime this year.
- The Greatest Album of the Century By Any Artist(s)
     By A7J77UMZRCSBP on 2008-02-02
"The Distant Future" is the greatest album of the century by any artist(s) bar none! Original. Vibrant. Touching. Funny. Smart. The first four songs are small gems that shine brighter than anything churned out by so-called mainstream musical artists. The last two cuts require more of an acquired taste, perhaps for fans of the HBO series, but their quirkiness does little to diminish the overall album's charm and polish. If I've learned anything in life about meeting women, I learned a fail-proof opening line from song four: "You're so beautiful, you could be a part-time model." Rock on, Flight of the Conchords! Buy this album or risk dying sad and alone in a cold tiny studio apartment full of Celine Dion and Mariah Carey albums and a broken record player...

These guys are really funny! I gave this CD and the first season of "Flight" on DVD to my husband for his birthday. I was excited that I got a DVD and CD as a package and for the same price as just the DVD in the stores, plus I got super saver free shipping.
- Starts off indecent, but gets better near the end.

Flight of the Conchords should have done a little more brainstorming when trying to come up with things to sing about. This disc has five songs, and two of them are about sex. The opening track, "Business Time," is a rhythm-driven slow jam with the singer breathily monologuing about having sex with his wife/girlfriend... not a very welcoming way to start off your very first disc release. We move on to "If You're Into It," and hey, more sex! This time, the singer is encouraging a girl to have sex with some other guy.
Once you get past those two, the rest of the disc is very good. "I'm Not Crying" is, without a doubt, the best Conchords song yet. The subtle ironies and slight jabs at psychological denial of a lover's rejection are absolutely brilliant. The last three tracks were from a live performance in NYC. "The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room" is quite funny. The between-songs "Banter" is hilarious; a good chance to hear the two guys interacting with the crowd. Finally, the disc ends with "Robots," which, like "I'm Not Crying" and "The Most Beautiful Girl in the Room," is extremely good at subtlely poking fun at its subject matter.
So, in the end you get three very clever songs, a few minutes of good dialogue, and two repulsive songs about sex. Is it worth five bucks? Sure, go for it. The good mostly outweighs the bad.

These guys are amazing, this is a good little sneek preview for their upcoming full length album.

For the cheap price, this is priceless. Everyone should be exposed to this funny, sweet and original comedy duo's talents. Great stuff!

It's fun to watch see these two Kiwi's rise to success. Their music is creative and contagious. Wednesdays will never be the same!

The Flight of the Conchords cd has one major flaw. It is too short. It is a lot of fun and a must have for any fan of the HBO series.
- Best CD ever!

Thank you so much for sending this CD as quick and effiecent as possible. This has to be the greatest CD ever made!

I cant help but smile everytime I listen to this album! These guys are great! Dry humor at its best! Love their HBO show too:) Check out Business time, then imagine the TV episode! LOL
- AWESOME!!! But not quite enough.
     By A56S0Z5HYUAOB on 2007-09-13
As much as I love these guys, this CD was a little disappointing. Don't get me wrong, the songs are HILARIOUS!!! But what about the hiphopapotamus vs. the rhymnocerous? There are a few other songs they should have included.

This is a must-have for anyone with a) a sense of humor, b) an appreciation for good songwriting, or c) absolutely no fear of New Zealand.
If you haven't seen Flight of the Conchords on HBO (season 1 just wrapped up), do yourself a favor and download some of the podcast material available through iTunes. Then buy this CD. 'Cause it's Business Time, baby...
- My Review

I loved the c.d. I would tell anyone who like Flight of the Conchords to buy it. I can't wait until their new c.d. comes out.
- landing in a cd player near you...
     By A9FQVSL2OLXJO on 2007-09-25
Talk about funny. Better than six with a stranger. Although this is a relatively short cd, all of the songs are great. If you like parody music or comedic music, you will definately appreciate the laughs you get from these guys. If you have seen them on HBO and were entertained, listen to their music and be entertained some more. Covering modern topics like the prettiest girl in the "room", or hip robots taking over the earth, you will miss a great cd if you pass this one up. Affirmative, I poked it, its a hit.
