  • Perfect, fast prints everytime

    By A3OXM4NUGQKIQ0 on 2007-09-12
I just got this printer today from Amazon and so far it has passed every test I have put it thorough.

First, I set it up through a wireless router and connected to my computers. Setting up the printer to the network is a breeze. You go into the touch screen and follow the prompts, select your network name and you are done.

Then I installed the software on the first of three computers. There was a problem at first of it not being able to find the computer on the network, but I realized my anti virus program was blocking access to it, so I disabled that and it found the printer and set it up. At first I couldn't get the printer to print, so I restarted my computer (it didn't prompt me to do that and it should have) and after that it worked. I printed a few test pictures and everything was great.

Then I got out my media card from my digital camera and printed a picture from that. I was able to see all the images very clearly and vividly on the touch screen and I adjusted the picture and cropped it, and it came out beautifully.

Next I set up the second computer and there was a small issue again with the firewalls and having to disable the anti virus program, but after that it restarted and worked. Another test print, this time a full page print came out nicely.

Lastly was the third computer which had a great deal of problems trying to install the software. An error message kept coming up after installing and reinstalling the program so I called tech support. Spent a whopping hour and twenty minutes on the phone with them, but got the problem fixed. This is the oldest of the three computers and the tech guy said some XP's have a problem with some of the drivers. What I eventually had to do was go into the control panel and install the printer manually without using the CD. Even though this took forever, I have noting but great things to say for HP's tech support. They even gave me a deal on ink cartridges, a whole set for $30 and 150 sheets of paper free. The ink runs about $50 for the set, and we all know how expensive photo paper is!

So then I did a few more test prints and checked the level of the inks, and they are still working fine. The picture quality is amazing when it is on `best' they are quality prints like what you get from photo machines and the ink dries in seconds. The printer doesn't take time at all to warm up, I had to unplug it several times while on the phone to tech support and each time it turned on and was ready to print right away. It is also very quiet when it prints, I was standing across the room and couldn't hear it. The speed of the printer is decent too, especially for documents.

The only thing that was annoying was that it took soooo long to install the software on the computers. And you have to keep on coming back and checking boxes, so you can't just walk away let it run. Also, I am not a fan of any of the programs it came with, the software runs extremely slow on all of the computers.

I am so happy I bought this printer; I was a little worried because I had not seen any reviews on it but decided to give it a chance anyway. I am very glad I did! The best feature by far is the wireless printing capabilities. I would recommend it to anyone who is in the market for a new printer.

**Update: I have had this printer for about 6 months now and I am still pretty happy with it, but there are a few things that I have noticed.
*Sometimes it wont connect to the router so it has to be restarted and warm up. This can take up to 5 minutes, and is VERY irritating when you are in a hurry.
*The pictures print dark sometimes and you have to adjust the color settings.
*All of the software that comes with it is HORRIBLE!! Sometimes when I turn on my computer, the install window will come up and it will say "please insert installation CD so your HP Photosmart can finish the installation." I either have to hit cancel about 10 times before it goes away or restart the computer when that doesn't work. Some of the software has to run all the time in order for the printer to be connected to the computer. If I want to open it to check the ink levels, or if I right click on it to close it, it makes my computer crash. I would really recommend installing the printer through control panel's add a printer. If you don't know how to do that, call HP for help (they are really helpful and nice) and ask them to walk you through it.

  • Update to: okay for everyday pictures - can produce excellent pictures

    By A2M8G7CK8YYZS9 on 2008-02-06
Since writing this review I have up graded my rating to 5.

After reading reviews I expected to get high quality color pictures. I have printed over 100 pictures with this printer and after comparing them to pictures printed at XXX-mart photo processing there was no comparison. Color quality and sharpness were observably inferior. Colors seem to have a brownish tint compared to crisp color of photos from XXX-mart. Along with the printer I purchased the best quality paper HP recommended for this printer, so the quality was not due to improper paper. I would suggest sampling the quality of prints before purchasing. The printer is very easy to use and the wireless feature is easy to set up and excellent for printing from my laptop. I love that feature. Just disappointed with the picture quality. I would say picures are ok for everyday, but, not suitable for framing.

I am updating an earlier review. I decided to try premium plus paper, HP's best photo paper. HP web site does not recommend this paper for this printer, but, I thought it was worth a shot. This change produced excellent crisp colors and the brownish haze produced by the advanced paper, which is the best quality HP recommends for this printer, was gone. I really like this printer now and rate it a 5, because it can produce quality pictures that are better than xxx-mart. Be sure to use premium plus paper for your best pictures.

  • Not Perfect but a Keeper - Use advanced options with caution

    By A3MF3OCND53N1H on 2008-01-27
My need and experience with this product is limited to wired network connectivity with Windows XP, although the product has wireless network and USB capability. Photos printed were from a Canon 30D SLR camera.

    General opinion--
After tweaking some settings in the printer properties, I am mostly satisfied for now with the photo printing results. Text printing looks great and photo printing better than most of my prior HP printers but still not as good as photo lab printing although I do have more control over how the results look than when using a lab. I think the photo printing is somewhat inferior to my old HP Photosmart 7550 printer before it broke, which is what this one is replacing.

    Problems and solutions --

    1. Used older HP Photo Plus Premium paper for photos. The printer did not detect this and printed as though on regular paper making the photo look extremely grainy. Solution was to create a printing shortcut in the printer properties specifying the paper type, size, etc. The shortcuts are more convenient than setting each parameter separately each time you print.

    2. Even with the proper paper settings, the photos were still somewhat grainy and some had many horrible streaks running across them. When I selected preview in the printer properties, I noticed the streaks were in the preview. The solution was to turn off the Real Life Technology (RLT) in the printer properties. The RLT modifies the image after you send it to the printer in an attempt to improve its appearance. Depending on its setting it tries to improve focus, improve brightness, inprove contrast, increase sharpening, and increase color saturation. I had already adjusted the image to look good on the computer monitor. This additional adjustment pushed it over the edge, causing streaks, and trying to bring the otherwise (intentional) beautiful background blur into focus, which just made it grainy instead. Turning off the "RLT" in the printer properties for the same image fixed this problem in the preview and on the photo itself. You might want to use the RLT feature with caution if you purchase this product.

    3. Even with RLT turned off, there were mild streaks and grain running orthoganal to the print direction near the leading edge of borderless print. HP FAQ on their web site suggests cleaning and if that does not work to simply print with a white border to avoid what they refer to as a defect. A brand new printer should not need cleaning but printing with a border fixed my problem, which was really not bad enough to be concerned about. It is just not quite as perfect as I would have liked or as I have had in the past.

    4. Installation conflicted with my old HP Officejet 7310 printer resulting in a lockup. After a few hours of disconnecting printers and reinstalling old and new drivers, both printers are now working fine with the new software. Installation went very smoothly on pc's without these old drivers.

    5. Photos appeared darker than on my computer monitor although my monitor had been calibrated by software for brightness, contrast, and color and also the monitor properly displays the photos without adjustment. I wanted to print photos straight from the camera using my pc without adjustment to the image. The solution was to use the handy customizable shortcuts in the printing properties color tab to increase brightness on photos only. After doing this, whether or not I modified the images on the pc, photos appear virtually identical on the print as they do on the computer monitor. It required about eight 4x6 test photo prints to obtain this calibration but the results are astounding. Once I make the picture look exactly the way I like on the computer monitor, I can now print with confidence that the printed photo will look the same. With these adjustments, most photos print at the proper brightness with no modifications by the pc. As mentioned above, this only works for me with "RLT" turned off. Only the brightness required adjustment. The color tones were spot-on with the monitor.

Overall, the printer is producing very good photos and page printing now that some of the advanced automatic features have been turned off and the brightness has been calibrated to the computer monitor.

  • Great Printer

    By A1YP222MPK3MSN on 2007-10-24
Just bought this printer from Staples. I am using it with a 24" Intel iMac 2.4 ghz. Installation was a breeze! Followed the set up guide and within 20 minutes I was printing pics! Wirelessly!!
Word of caution: If you print pictures, use the highest resolution. The printer is fast at the lower res, but the pics are not as good. The best resolution will slow down the print, but the end result is Beautiful pictures. I printed several borderless 8.5 x 11 and could not be happier.
The 6 individual ink tanks are a real plus. If your looking for a great home printer for pics, I highly recommend this one

  • Good luck getting it to work, software flakey

    By A2TS7FUBAE1FJZ on 2007-12-24
I just bought this printer. I'm using it via wireless, and on 2 computers.

My first computer is a Vista (HP) machine. Install was no problem. However after 2 days of using it, I've notice the printer connects/disconnects all the time with no explanation, and as a result 50% of the print jobs never get processed. Pretty sad when an HP computer and HP printer don't work.

My other machine is an XP machine. When I installed it, the install failed to detect the printer. I supplied the IP address, and it then found it. Installation was fairly painful. The printer came up in "offline" mode so none of my print jobs were going through... I found this and fixed it, and cleared the queue. Similar to my first machine, the printer kept coming online and going offline, but one this machine, maybe 25% of the jobs went through. The paper selection in the driver was also kinda awkward to figure out. The driver and software was EXTREMELY slow.

To make it worse, my second machine was also hooked up to an HP 2840 printer. After giving up on the 7460, I went to scan on my 2840, and now my 2840 didn't work. The scan utility flat out wouldn't come up. I noticed pretty much everything on the 2840 was dead... couldn't scan, couldn't print, nothing.

I went to uninstall all the HP software and reinstall. Stupid 7460 installs alot of garbage. Each program requires a reboot... takes like 30 minutes to uninstall the software. I remove my 2840 and 7460, and install just the 7460 and this time don't install the optional garbage. Again, printer is extremely flakey.

HP really needs to work on their software. Its bloated and flaky. They should be embarrassed of what they put out. I'm a electrical engineer, and couldn't get this to work. I will probably have to return this printer and either buy a different brand, or stick to my non-networked printer.

  • great printer
    By A1PN2U0AWXGVML on 2008-03-04
I picked this up yesterday on sale at OfficeMax for $99. The printer works great. The wireless works without a flaw even from about 20 feet away with a wall between. The 3.5" touch screen is great and simple to use. The printer has two trays. One is for 4x6 inch prints (borderless) and the other is for regular paper. The printer is quite big considering it doesn't have a scanner. The prints are beautiful since this is a photo printer. Its uses 5 colors and black which are included, although I believe the ink has less volume than stand alone ink cartridges but since you can replace only the color that gets low, it makes it a great value. The prints are crisp and accurate, although they seem a tad darker than the screen shows. I lighten up the picture a bit and the pictures work better. It prints the 4x6 in about 30 seconds average for a good color picture which I consider excellent. I've printed about 20 color photos (borderless) and all of them look as good as if I'd gotten them at Costco. Highly recommended, especially if you can get it at this price.

  • Quality Printer for the Price!
    By AWN4LENC2MNH3 on 2008-04-03
I purchased this printer as a replacement for my Epson R800 as the print head went bad. I am/was a huge Epson fan but decided on the HP because of the excessive print head cleaning cycles the Epson requires which is a big waste of expensive ink. The HP Vivera ink has similar characteristics as the Epson. I need 100 year ink as I print Giclee prints for my watercolor art and photography business.

The setup was quite easy and I had no problems. I am using one computer so there was no need to use the wireless set up.

The first print in the "best" mode was very acceptable. I will be printing my Giclee's in the maximum dpi mode though.

I just finished printing a 6" x 12" black and white on a sheet of 8" x 14" matt paper. I must say that the HP does B&W great! I was concerned as it popped out of the printer with a magenta color cast but in a few minutes it dried to a very acceptable true B&W print.

I did a printing job of 3- 8" x 10" color photos for a company in town and they were quite thrilled with the results.

I do use the printer in the full manual mode, nothing automatic.

A tip: if you are going to use custom paper you will go into the custom paper setup. After you have your paper dimensions inserted be sure and change the name from "custom" to a unique name in the heading box. I spent way to long trying to figure out why I couldn't save my dimensions.

  • An AMAZING Photo Printer
    By A4QTYGJS4Y44F on 2008-01-09
I bought this printer to replace my old HP 7200 series. The improvements HP has made on their photo printers in the last few years is really astonishing. The large, 3.5" touch screen is a nice feature, and the user-interface is very intuitive. It is equally easy to print directly from memory cards or from the computer. Having the separate ink cartridges is a great feature and is extremely cost effective. Even buying a full set of these ink cartriges isn't much more than buying the two cartridges for my old 7200 series printer, and it's nice to know I'm never wasting ink. The print quality is OUTSTANDING, and the printing speed, even on large photos, is impressive. The 4x6 tray works very well, and 4x6 prints seem to come out almost as fast as they do at the one-hour photo labs. Borderless printing, even in larger sizes like 8 1/2 x 11 (up to 8.5 x 24) is great for me since I like to do digital scrapbooking. Now, I can print digital scrapbooking pages for my 8.5 x 11 books with no white edges from my own home computer! Overall, this printer has exceeded my expectations (and my expectations were high, so that's really saying something). GREAT printer for the price. Buy it! You won't regret it.

  • Worst printer I have ever owned
    By A1BK60GZ4QME6I on 2008-07-08
I bought this printer on a clearance sale because the price of the printer was only $25 more than the cost of the ink refill on my old printer. Installation on my old machine was slow but I was able to get it to work using a USB cable. I will discuss the characteristics of the printer later. First let me describe my current horror story with this horrible printer.

About 1 month ago I decided to build a new high end machine running XP SP3. I downloaded the full HP driver (version 10.0.0, from the HP website) and decided to install the printer as a wireless printer. The installer got about a third of the way through and asked me to reboot. When I rebooted, the driver continued the install but said it could not find my printer. I checked my router and it clearly showed my router connected. Firewalls and AV programs were disabled. So I tried again and this time I specified the IP address of the printer. After hitting "Retry" 6 times, the printer was found. Then I clicked "Next" on the install dialog and I got an error message: "Your printer cannot be installed". The options at this point were "Cancel" and "Next". I clicked "Next" and the installer closed!

After trying this 3 times with the same result, I decided to try a regular ethernet cable. The exact same thing happened..."Your printer cannot be installed." No other explanations or log files ... just the simple message that the install failed.

I contacted tech support in India. Despite my telling them that I have a MS in Computer Science, they first informed me that I "must be using a telephone cable and not an ethernet cable". After we got past this point, the tech support attitude was "You must have your printer on a different subnet". I don't. The third call produced more advice: "Uninstall the driver and reinstall". The final advice I got was to download a program from an HP all-in-one and see if that corrects registry permission problems. That did not work. Tech support finally told me "We cannot solve your issue, you will be contacted in 2-3 days". I wasn't.

So now I am stuck with a piece of junk printer that cannot be recognized by Windows XP SP3 using either wireless, wired ethernet or a USB cable.

Now on to the printer itself. When or if you can get it to install, the print quality is not bad provided you tweak the settings properly. One con of the printer is that it is very noisy, especially at high speed draft mode, and most photo prints come out very dark, despite the images looking fine on the screen. Another gripe I have is that the printer makes strange noises: clunking, grinding and a rewinding sound as it sits there.

I never could get the wireless connection to work reliably, even on my old system. Wireless was flaky: on one minute, off the next, despite the fact that the printer was 10 feet from my wireless router at 99% signal strength.

I see several issues here: first, the printer driver is too bloated and buggy to be of any real use. Second, the printer hardware is obviously buggy and untested, attested by the fact that the wireless connection seldom works and the wired ethernet is very unreliable and slow.

I cannot recommend this printer to anyone. If it does work for you then it is only a matter of time before this printer stops working and causes you grief. I have spent more time trying to get this printer to work than I have spent actually using it.

  • This printer sucks.
    By ATVRR0YO67EL0 on 2008-02-02
I have had this printer for four months. It has worked approximately twice. I have definitely spent many more hours trying to get the piece of junk to function that I have actively spent using it. First it would not install correctly. Then the help was totally useless. The final straw was getting the (apparently INFAMOUS) "carriage jam" error message. The printer will no longer function at all, and, though HP will replace it, I have to pay for the shipping to do so. The printer is definitely not worth the money it would cost to mail it away.

STRONGLY RECOMMEND THAT YOU NEVER BUY THIS PRODUCT. I will not be supporting HP in any fashion in the future.

  • Good quality prints but what is it doing???
    By A2Q3ZTRJMBMN5H on 2008-09-18
First of all, I love the print quality. It easily detects photos vs documents and chooses the correct paper to print on. I like the separate ink catridges and software has level indicators. Also, the card reader is nice and with the display screen you can easily navigate your pictures on storage cards.

But, most of the time it is busy doing some sort of preparation. Its takes several minutes to get ready, reads ink levels, does a song and a dance spins around touches its nose and takes a deep breath then voila, its time to print my document. Yippee!!

Overall, its a good printer and I kinda get a laugh out of all its preparation. Fortunately, I'm never in a rush to get my documents.

PS. If you want a good laugh, print in draft mode. My daughter loves to run around the room picking up the printed papers as they literally fly out of the printer.

  • Great printer!
    By A1ZCRPRJFQFG1F on 2007-12-28
I've had this printer for about a month now and haven't had any problems. I did put an envelope the wrong way and it got jammed. The printer has a "back door" that you can open and remove jammed items - very helpful and convenient. The text printing is actually pretty fast for cheap printers. Don't have anything bad to say about this printer. It took about 2 weeks to actually receive the printer - it was in good shape when I received it and the directions were adequate. Sorry I can't be more helpful.

  • DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER
    By A2GUD2DC78AWIT on 2008-02-28
    1. The wireless connection will work for about a day or two.

    2. Both my laptop and my desktop can sometimes not detect the software.

    3. If you run low on any ink cartridge, it will not print at all no matter how much ink is left in the other cartridges. This is, according to the print screen, to ensure "printer health."

  • Perfect for digital scrapbooking and everyday photos
    By A21AD2367U712 on 2008-02-29
This is the first photosmart printer I've purchased, but after chatting w/ other scrappers and online research, I decided to purchase the HP D7460. I'm so pleased with my purchase! I design all 8x8 digital scrapbook pages, and with the borderless option, it makes printing a breeze! The colors are amazing and far better quality that those I've had printed elsewhere - not to mention the savings! I printed 45+ (not counting the ones I cancelled half-way through b/c I decided I wanted to change the layout of my page) 8x8 scrapbook pages on the HP advanced photo paper and it wasn't until then that I ran out of the yellow ink and had to stop - (all of the other cartridges still read nearly full) - but it printed perfect, amazing pictures each time! I love the feature that tells you your ink is out, rather than just swapping over to another color or black - it gives you the option to either cancel or use black instead. I was surprised at how quickly it printed as well! I'm very pleased with this product and will definately pass this wonderful product along to my friends/family/fellow scrappers!

This printer is awesome. I have had many printers but this is by far the best yet, very fast, very clear and the pictures quality is great, even on the fastest print setting. I think my favorite part is the individual ink cartridges which can be bought straight through the company for less then $10.00, so when you run out of one color you don't have to replace the tri color which is still full of 2 other colors.

  • Started out well. Proved to be JUNK with TERRIBLE service from HP
    By AILYUJA7BXLN5 on 2008-07-31
First off, I did not buy this printer from Amazon but thought someone might benefit from my experience. I purchased this printer in late April '08 and after moderate use, printing only photos, it has died only 3 months later giving me the "Ink system has failed..." error. It printed beautifully while it worked although if I printed on anything but HP Premium Plus paper, every print took on a very brown, muddy tone. After a lengthy live support session with HP, they finally agreed to send me a brand new replacement as I was still under the original warranty. Much to my disappointment, HP sent me a poorly packaged, refurbished printer that does not work. The replacement printer is also missing the 4x6 photo paper tray and the HP rep told me I would have to remove the 4x6 tray from my old printer and install it into my "new" printer. The "new" printer will not recognize that it has paper installed in the main paper tray. The HP rep insisted that I open up my "new" printer and clean out the interior components, which were filthy, as we had to troubleshoot this "new" printer before he could help me any further. Long story short, 3 hours of live chat assistance later, the HP rep finally admitted it was a faulty printer and they would send me another "new" one but I need to send in my first dead printer to close out the first transaction and then contact HP again to confirm they received it and then they'll look at processing further to send me out another "new" printer and I can then return the replacement printer they just sent me. And the HP rep also admitted after going back and forth that the 4x6 photo paper tray does NOT come out and he didn't know why the replacement printer was missing the tray because it should have been there but then suggested I take my first dead printer to an authorized service shop to have them take out the 4x6 photo tray if I wanted to which makes no sense to me at all????? So today I am sending back my first printer, when all is said and done, I will have been without a printer for almost a month. In the meantime, I'm going to do what I should have done in the first place and go out and buy an EPSON printer as I have no confidence in HP and will never purchase another HP item ever.

  • Used HP my entire life... Think again with this purchase.
    By AHML5IR53TN3G on 2008-10-27
This printer works, and that's about it. The print quality isn't much better than an older printer I had (3 years older than this) and it guzzles ink (Think really big SUV). I constantly have to replace ink cartridges, even when im not printing! Every time I turn this printer on it does a really loud song and dance for several MINUTES "cleaning the cartridge heads" (which I believe it's really just throwing my ink away or something). Never had such issues before. In addition to the ink issues and other annoying issues; whenever the ink begins to run out (which is extremely often) it gives 10-20 warnings before you can continue printing. Sometime it wont even let you print. Just for public info, I do NOT do much printing. Maybe 20 pages a month averaged out. This printer is ridiculous enough to make me (a non-frequent-reviewer) want to warn others. I feel ripped off.
These $10 ink cartridges contain ink in the range of 0.1 ounce to 2 ounces. So cheap, wouldn't cost them much more to give a decent amount. My pen has more than that.

So far I am very satisfied with this printer. It is faster the my previous HP Ink Jet Printer. Ther price was reasonble. I shall reserve comments regharding the many ink cartridges depending on how long they last.

  • GREAT PRINTER!
    By A19W4WDK30B9TJ on 2008-04-28
This is a great product. works excellent wireless. I have it hooked up through a cable from my router and can print wirelessly from all over my residence. my roommate also has one and never had a problem with signals or anything. also works well without being connected to the router. the pictures are great so far. i've used both the advanced and premiere plus paper for photos and texts prints out super fast. the touch screen is very handy in working with large photos because most aren't shot in pixel form that is 4x6 or whatever size you are printing so you can just move and zoom a square over what it is that you want to print. highly recommended whether you want the wireless function or not. also a huge plus is the individual printer cartridges, they last a long time i've printed a lot of photos. don't buy the photo pack that comes with paper though the ink is not the same that comes with the computer nor what you pay extra for. its kinda a rip off. the paper is also inexpensive if you shop around. overall buy this you won't be disappointed.

  • Love the wireless!!

This is an excellent product for the price. Prints photos wonderfully, easy to use, touch sceen and large display are user friendly and the wireless is great. I can edit photos at my desk upstairs and print them in my craft room downstairs.

  • HP PHOTOSMART D7460 - CLEVERLY DESIGNED TO EMPTY YOUR WALLET!
    By ABY1QRHQX4Z0W on 2008-10-15
As I concur with my fellow reviewers, the HP Photosmart D7460 was easy to set up and run. I purchased this printer along with my new HP Laptop - as I received $50 off the retail price. After only several weeks of using this printer, I found that it ran thru all of the color cartridges quite quickly. I don't print much, but it seemed that every time I used the printer, the screen indicated that I needed to replace one or more of the color cartridges! This printer was engineered/designed to foster several repurchases of their HP 02 cartridges ,,, which are pricy! I never have had to purchase so many replacement oolor catridges for a printer in my life. Although the photographic quality of printouts is quite good, overall -- the HP PHOTOSMART D7460 IS A RIP OFF! DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! DO NOT BUY THIS PRINTER! There are better, more economical choices out there. I wish I did my research. What a RIP OFF! Thanks HP!!! Now I'm sharing my story with the world!

  • WOW!!
    By A1OOXO0AM9A3YG on 2008-01-03
This printer was the easiest printer I have ever installed. Software version was not a problem at all. I installed three computers wirelessly just as fast as installing a printer with a USB on one computer. The printing and photo quality is great. I would recommend this printer to anyone wanting to place the printer in any location of their home, and not have to be connected by wires in order to have to print.

  • Pretty good.
    By A2JLOYNXSWPN5Z on 2008-03-12
Prints very well on photo paper, decent on regular paper.

Touchscreen navigation can take a little while to get used to.

Prints black and white fast, color takes a little bit.

    Wireless setup was a breeze.

  • Seems to be Good

Its pretty early to review, Ive only had the printer for a month, soo far I'm happy with the quality, I didnt know when you run out of any color of ink the printer will not print , until its replaced. My pictures look pretty good. : )

  • So far a great printer
    By A28KY5HDFLRZP1 on 2008-08-09
Received this product the other day and it arrived in excellent shape (thanks Amazon.com!). The unpacking and initial setup was a breeze. I am using the 802.11 feature and could not be happier. The setup was done on both a Vista32 and WinXP system without issue. The 4x6 prints are amazing and the standard printing is fast and quiet with good quality. This replaced an aging Epson Photo printer. None of the reasonably priced Epson Photo printers have built-in networking, which I feel should be very common these days. The initial reviews of this HP printer and its relatively low cost swayed me to give it a try. So far I am very happy with it.

  • I love this printer!

The HP Photosmart D7460 printer is amazing! I bought this printer to replace an HP Photosmart 7450 which had been giving me some trouble (white lines through print, etc.) and I wish I had done it sooner. The D7460 takes up a bit more room on the desk, but it makes up for it in quality, ease of use and setup (could they make the cartridges easier to install? I don't think so. A child could do it -- color and shape coded!), as well as price. A great value. I have made about 100 prints of varying color so far and the ink level has barely gone down. The ink gauge seems to be quite accurate, too. I would recommend this printer to anyone serious about printing photos and artwork, as well as documents. Prints made on photo paper are 100% archival, and are dry pretty much instantly. The wireless capacity also works flawlessly, and was easy to set up. Love it!
