Garrity KP052 Rechargeable 20 LED Crank Lantern with AM/FM Radiox$33.96
    (11 reviews)
Best Price: $53.99 $33.96
Need a good rechargeable lantern for camping or emergencies? Look no further than the Garrity KP052 rechargeable crank lantern. Boasting 16 white LEDs and four red LEDs, the lantern blazes brightly should the power go out or the campfire grow dim. The lantern offers two different charging options: a hand crank or an AC/DC adapter. The hand-crank option is terrific for when you're nowhere near a power source, such as while camping at the beach or fishing before the morning light. The AC/DC option, meanwhile, will keep your lantern charged for emergencies, so you can just grab it and flick it on during hurricanes, tornadoes, or ice storms. And should the rechargeable battery run low but you need instant power, you can run the lantern on three AA batteries (included). The KP052 is more than just a lantern, however, as it also includes a cell phone charger port and a built-in AM/FM radio. As a result, you can keep your cell phone juiced even during extended power outages while listening to the latest news updates on recovery efforts.

Fantastic Product! By AKBVMMZ1NLGCP on 2008-01-07
This was one of the best buys I made. It works wonderfully and without batteries. Just crank it several times and it goes and goes. What a wonderful thing to have if the power should go out. Or to take fishing or camping. The lights are bright and clear, and the radio works well. I heartily recommend this.
Pretty good - overall By A5LEZ4RC6BPN6 on 2008-03-30
Not the brightest lantern around, but bright enough for emergencies. It takes alkaline or rechargeable AA's (3), and they can be recharged in the unit. Haven't tried the crank. Surprisingly good radio. Seems sturdy. I'm going to buy more to keep around the house for power outages.
great product By A3HELMFVLOGUHY on 2008-04-08
This is a great lantern. You don't have to crank it very long to produce a good light, and it lasts a long time on a charge. The radio sounds better than I expected, too.
emergency lantern By A1DU7S96WE2F61 on 2008-03-07
I started out looking for a simple light source to be used during a possible power outage. In time I found the KPO52. A great package with lots of features. I'm a "happy camper".
GREAT BUY FOR THE MONEY By A14089SH36EP1H on 2008-06-13
I purchased this lantern after reading a review of another lantern on the Gadgeteer. My aim was to get a lantern for power outages and to take along on car trips. So far I have used it for a backyard BBQ when light was scarce. It worked great. I have also used the radio for patio listening. This little light is great! Lightweight, bright, has a built in hook, radio, crank and battery power, plus AC charging. I leave it plugged in and the red L.E.D.s provide a nice night light. I would buy this again and recommend it highly.
- Not very practical
     By ASY79BYG73B6M on 2008-05-29
In terms of practical use in blackout/emergency conditions, this lantern didn't work well for me. Although the radio is very good sound quality, the lantern isn't very bright to light a room in a blackout, and also only lasts for 6 minutes on a 1 minute crank. Since we were out of power all night, it got really tiring to crank every 5 minutes.
- Hard to Crank
     By AP9JKW08IACV0 on 2008-08-15
Not bad for an emergency light, but the crank is very uncomfortable to use, especially if you have to use the crank for any length of time.
- Rechargeable - great, crank power - a disappointment
     By A2030NMUDFT97P on 2008-08-25
I think its a nice little lantern - compact, good radio and the light is decent. I bought one after a power outage at the beginning of this year and I've been using it on a daily basis since it arrived. I love my garrity crank flashlight but I am disappointed in the lantern. The lantern runs a long time off a charge but takes a lot of cranking to keep even a dim light once the battery runs down. Then the little knob broke off the crank so now its just a rechargeable. I think it can be fixed but haven't followed up on that yet.
- Good for power outages
     By A5U0FSWB9ZF2H on 2008-09-15
Provides a decent (not great) amount of light, good enough for sitting around a table during a power outage. Radio works pretty well. Good for backup during a power outage or for outdoors use.
- Lantern
     By A36QSGG7DC6HR7 on 2008-11-16
Battery life seems to be pretty good, but the crank doesn't last too long. The light is very bright though.
