a small step down from what I had before By A2R6RA8FRBS608 on 2007-12-22
Logitech scores a goal with this very good, comfortable headset and microphone for your computer or any other device that has a USB port! It was easy to install into a USB plug and play port on my laptop computer.
I wound up buying this headset after my previous Logitech headset "went south" on me. Oh, well, these things aren't made to last forever--especially in this price range.
The sound quality is just as good as I got from my previous headset, which was Logitech's Premium USB Headset 350, and the very similar headphones are just as plush and comfortable. The microphone works well with your computer when you are using chat live software that requires a microphone. The microphone frequency response range of 100 Hz-10 kHz impresses me for a headset this affordable. The headband is also adjustable.
Another feature of this headset that works well is the volume control. Unfortunately, you cannot adjust the volume up as high as you can with Logitech's Premium USB Headset 350. You can still use the volume control to increase the volume beyond which your computer may be capable of achieving; but it isn't quite as good. However, the adjustable volume on the headsets remains a major selling point. The noise canceling microphone impresses me, too.
Overall, this still is one of the sophisticated and more comfortable headsets with a built in noise canceling microphone for this price. Logitech did a pretty good job with this headset and I highly recommend it for people who want quality without spending a small fortune for a headset with a microphone.
Good for chatting, not so much for music. By A1UL2JH7XOUGM5 on 2007-09-28
I bought this headset to replace a Logitech Premium 350 that I had given to a friend. In short, despite having "laser tuned audio drivers," so far the sound on this actually seems inferior to the 350. The audible output of the ClearChat Pro seems to be all midrange, which can be a downer for those really into music.
On the plus side, it is much more comfortable and the volume controls on the headset are super comfortable. The USB plug seems to have been machined a bit too loose (wobbles around in the socket) and therefore the headphones may come unplugged easily.
The voice chat seems to work very well with this unit. However, it has shortcomings in many other areas as described above, so for $50 I'm not sure at this point I got my money's worth. A good headset, but not the best due to the fidelity issues and USB plug craftmanship.
great! By A2VKGCVMVR21C0 on 2007-12-08
Forget the old style headsets of yester year with the mic and speaker jacks. Remember how you would always mix them up under your desk in the dark when you plugged them in?. That was so old school. USB is the way to go. Plug and play. This is mature technology from Win 98 to Vista. My old G4 Mac likes it also. They do a fine job. YOu can pay more money, but I don't know if your ear can tell the diffrence. Maybe if you are 16 years old and have never listened to any loud rock your ears might. But other than that, this set is outstanding.
Great Value By AKT7T79PWNZ6X on 2007-10-28
These are a great headset for gaming, Skyping, and listening to music. For the price it offers great clarity and is very easy to set up. On OS X I was able to plug it in and everything worked fine. On Windows XP I just had to change the sound settings in the control panel. Would recommend this product and already have.
flat sounding, all midrange, but good mic By A4IG1S7LTIKRK on 2008-03-06
I've had this headset for a few days now. It's ok for business type-stuff, IE Skype or other voip applications. The mic. is good and crystal clear, and decent sounding.
The headphones are not great. All mid-range, no bass sound flat. Kind of a bummer for listening to music or gaming.
I've already destroyed the box, but I would probably return these -- not worth 40bucks -- not horrible for 25 bucks -- but for 40 I expect a bit more.
- not usable for audio recording
     By A3D6JEQARS5RGX on 2008-05-14
I record free public domain audiobooks for [...]. When my trusty LogiTech 350 headset stopped working after 2 and a half years, I looked for another one locally but could only find this model.
I purchased it, and tried to use it to create an audiofile, as I have done hundreds of times before. Everytime with this model, there was a noticeable hum in the background, an unacceptable hum.
I returned this model as defective, got another replacement, and the same thing happened.
This headset is for low-quality gaming and Skype, where people don't miind low quality.
- perfect
     By A3BXHEN7W3S2OO on 2008-01-01
This was purchased for my husband, who has Parkinson's. He was thrilled with how it works with his voice-activated software, and I'm thrilled that we found a product that makes his life easier and more productive. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this headset to anyone.
- A Great replacement
     By A2NA4NHE5QRLZ7 on 2008-02-07
My old headphones died on me just as I was about to create my latest podcast. But, with Amazon Prime shipping I had these within three days and they saved me. The USB headphones worked with both my Windows XP and my Vista machines without any problem. I have clear sound quality. I love the light indicating that I'm on mute. And they're light to wear for long periods of editing. A great buy. I'm glad I stepped up to a little more expensive pair because these are worth every penny.
- Good headset for the price
     By A1F9Z42CFF9IAY on 2008-04-02
This is a good headset for the price for Skype calls, gaming, podcasting, etc.
It's not really meant for anything more professional or though.
I'm satisfied with this headset for the price I paid. I could have paid over double the cost for a nicer more professional one such as:
Sennheiser PC 166 USB Stereo Multimedia Gaming Headset
However since I only use a headset with mic occaisionally and I already have some good headphones for my iPod and stereo, I did not feel it was worth the extra money.
- Quality headphones
     By A21EV3Q9T3WNJR on 2008-05-07
I had to buy headphones because the one that came with my Rosetta Stone program was horrible! Those headphones were very uncomfortable, too loud and never recorded my pronunciations correctly.
The Logitech ClearChat Pro USB head phones may not be the most comfortable, but they work great. It records my pronunciations perfectly. In fact only rarely do I have problems with mispronunciation and I think it is because the Rosetta Stone program is being too picky.
These headphones are also compatible with Skype and I've had no problems with that program either.
- worst of the logitech less than one star
     By A19R1AJP21I3JM on 2007-12-26
I have bought five logitech usb headphones and they all are either too fragile and break up easily or they stop working and the computer wont recognize the headphone.
- Great utility headset, upgrade for laptop
     By AMYEXI37SB226 on 2008-03-28
It's not the most comfortable possible headset I've used, but it's certainly not the least. Audio quality is acceptable for music (better than earbuds) but I wouldn't use it for critical listening. For telephony/chat it's great.
The biggest "pro" of this headset over lesser models is that it's a dongle-free design: all controls are on the headset, and a single wire leads to the USB-A plug. No lumps, bumps, or adapters. The cable is longer than really necessary unless you need to reach a port on the back of your computer.
True plug-and-play driverless operation (as promised) in both Windows XP and OS X Leopard, though the first time you connect to Leopard you need to select the headset as default input/output in System Preferences.
If you have a noisy audio output on your laptop (like on my Compaq 6910) a USB headset is a fantastic upgrade!
- Great headseat, 1 minor problem
     By A3VKX9WAW86K40 on 2008-04-06
I've used/owned 3 other Logitech headsets over a 3 year period and to date this is by far the best. Much lighter than their last high-end USB headset and great sound quality. They also made a very smart decision when they moved the mute and volume controls to the headset. The previous models had the controls about a foot down from the headset and always managed to get caught on something.
The only drawback, hence the 4 and not 5 stars, is that the mute indicator is in the mouth piece and difficult to see if the "boom" is to low. The images shown for the product make it seem very bright and easily noticed but this is not the case, at least for me.
Overall a great product!!!
- Logitech Headset - great for skype
     By A9UB7LPHH4EU0 on 2008-02-09
The Logitech ClearChat Headset is great. Works exactly like it is supposed to and I'm happy with my purchase.
- Doesn't suck
     By AW5DEGGWSTXQ0 on 2008-03-26
Not a bad set of headphones, works with Skype over Mac OS X v10.5.2 - no complaints!
- Doesn't pick up outside noise
     By A2UN2EC55AGLR4 on 2008-04-07
This mic is perfect for recording to a computer. My other mics are so sensitive they pick up the computer hum. This mic didn't pick up the hum, and didn't even pick up the dogs barking outside! It's great for adding voice overs on your videos.
- Best headset I've had so far!
     By A2SOPFH1E5F6WW on 2008-05-20
This is by far the best headset I've owned so far.
I used to own the model that Logitech had produced before this and it too was good, but several improvements have been made to this model.
The old model had 2 mid-wire modules, one was the usb interface circuitry and the other was a clip-on mute/volume. I used to clip that onto my shirt collar, but at times if I looked down, it would mute the mic (not the headset) and I wouldn't know unless i actually looked at the front of it. This newer model has a 1 touch toggle for the mic and a small, gentle red light on the top of the mic, to let you know when the mic is muted.
The improvement here, is that all those mid-wire modules have been moved to the ends of the device, the controls onto the headset itself, and the interface onto the plug. I wouldn't have minded if the interface had stayed mid-line for the people that don't have usb ports in the front of their machine.
It has 3 sound modes: music, speech and gaming. Each one modulates / sound cancels / etc. when appropriate based on what you have it set to.
The only things I could really gripe about this product is the size of the ear pieces seem to be a little smaller than my preference, but I must say they are really comfortable.
One thing I recommend to customers who buy USB headsets, is to learn how USB audio devices work before getting frustrated. I like to use this instance to explain it for people who are new to the idea:
Lets say you have a song currently playing in your music player of choice, and you decide you want to listen to it on your new USB headset, so you plug it in. The music will continue to play on the device it already was playing on until you allow the program to release your sound device. To do this, you can either stop the music, or restart the program. This is no fault of the headset, rather it is an operating system quirk, that you just have to get used to.
- headset with microphone
     By A28621TSIR5EOG on 2008-09-02
Can turn on/off mic by tapping outside of ear piece. Red LED shows mic off. Records and transmits voice without popping and limits room sounds. Adjusts for phone, music and mic. Can hear yourself like a telephone when on Skype. Adjustable band, light and volume controlled by computer. Worked out of box.
- nice but top of head takes some time to get used too
     By A2Q40FX71M9O90 on 2008-03-14
these headphones sound great but...when you first start using them...the top of the band on your head feels a little heavy !
- Work great but hurts my ears
     By A277LU74AINP9A on 2008-03-31
I really like this headset but after about an hour my ears start to hurt. Just some getting used to I guess. The sound is great, the mic works good, and I love the volume and mute being on the headset.
- Very uncomfortable
     By A3U4UG65P1FXFT on 2008-05-08
Logitech ClearChat Pro USB Headset
It is a VERY uncomfortable headset using nothing but plastic parts for the headband. It's designed for looks rather than quality and we all know that looks sell especially since you can't try them on in the store.
If you could try them on, I'm convinced the store would not sell any.
Not recommended.
- Solid Headset For The Price.
     By A20TN2GROHQNMX on 2008-06-08
I received this headset for Christmas 2007 after my Plantronics headset started to slowly decompose.
PROS
-Lightweight design, you won't forget it's there, but it's certainly not uncomfortable.
-Easy volume/microphone mute controls, easy to reach although I have hit the microphone mute button by accident on more than one occasion.
-Microphone is pretty clear, sounds good to everyone else in Ventrilo or in game.
-Plug and play, no drivers. Very simple.
-Great price.
CONS
-Hurts the top of my head, and ears after long periods of gaming.
-Everything is plastic, which makes the headset feel cheap and flimsy, and probably attributes to the headaches.
-The microphone mute button is in a really stupid place, right in the middle of the right earpiece, so when you go to adjust the volume, it's easy to hit the button in the middle.
-3 settings for different sound (phone, gaming, and music) located on the right earpiece seem to be completely useless, I can't tell the difference between any of the settings.
Overall this is a pretty good headset, it really only gets uncomfortable after really extended periods of gaming, but for the price it's a great little set.
- Great sound, just can't wear them for very long.
     By AM9SVF7W2617G on 2008-06-09
I purchased these to use for voice chat in my PC games. I still use my speakers, I just feed voice chat through the earphones. It was great for that use and everything was very clear, the microphone worked very well for voice chat and VoIP programs like Skype.
The only problem is that after about an hour or so of wearing these headphones I have to take them off and take a break from them because they hurt my ears. I thought it was something that I'd get used too but 2 months later they still do the same thing to me.
If you're just going to be using these for short conversations or something like that I'd very much recommend them, but if you are planning on using them for a long period of time I'd look for something with more comfort.
- USB connector and cord fell apart
     By AATABEG8XGW82 on 2008-07-08
I'm going to exchange this for a new one because the plastic around the USB popped off and the wires became exposed. I'm hoping it's just a bad apple.
- Excellent headset microphone
     By A14846MPOJSHVC on 2008-07-17
I bought the Logitech headset hoping it would be comfortable and easy to use and both my husband and I are delighted by the clarity of sound and the ease of use. It adjusts quickly and holds the position on your head. I recommend this unit for anyone who needs a microphone headset. We have used it for Sype and for just plain personal listening to music and videos online.
- Good headset
     By ADYE2JUCH3T5F on 2008-08-09
This product is very good for the price that I paid for it. It works fine for me when I am listening to music, talking on ventrilo, or playing games. I also like the mic mute feature which is helpful at times. Overall I have not had any problems with this products and would recommend it to whoever is looking for a new headset.
- ClearChat Clarity
     By A11274BHR33RK9 on 2008-10-09
Logitech seems to have the market in these headphones wrapped up and for good reason. Light weight, comfortable and excellent reception.
- Great for Skype - good features, light, and comfortable
     By A1W5N8OT55A9Y3 on 2008-10-15
Bought this specifically for Skype with my Mac and it works wonderfully. I plugged it in, changed the audio preferences in Skype, and voila! it worked beautifully.
Sound quality is good. My callers tell me that the audio quality is excellent, and I have no complaints.
What I like about this headset:
1. Inexpensive
2. Easy to use - nice long cord
3. Controls are super easy to use while in a call - easily mute or adjust volume while on a call
4. Red light lights up on mic boom while line is muted. Good visual reminder (you can just see it while wearing the headset)
What I don't like:
1. The USB connector is a bit long - about 2", so it sticks out pretty far from the side of the Mac. When plugged into the right side usb port, it interferes with mousing just a bit.
2. Ear pads are stiff. But hey, what do you expect for $40?
3. Cord is not supple - its thickness indicates that it will probably last a while and be fairly durable, but the trade-off is that it is a bit stiff while you are working at a desk.
Overall, a great buy, and much easier to use than some earlier Plantronics USB-based headsets I have used (that required their own drivers and settings - bah!). I have not used them for music or gaming, so I can't comment on their performance in that respect, but I suspect that they would be adequate
- Worth the money
     By A3HCX0BK3N7G7E on 2008-11-09
These head phones does everything I expected and more. I wear a hearing aid and they are excellent with a hearing aid. I don't think you could buy a better headset for the money I paid for these. I would highly reccomend the Logitech ClearChat Pro to any one who does not want to spend a lot of money for a headset.
- Loogitech
     By A2S37V22KXZ6ND on 2008-04-29
I have recently purchased two Logitech items through Amazon, one being a Webcam and the other a Headset. The Webcam does not focus properly and the
earphones of the Headset keeps cutting out so that I cannot hear what people are saying. I don't know who to blame for this, Logitech or Amazon but I would suspect Logitech, Consequently, I think I am through buying
anything through Amazon in the future.
