Fun game...but I want the old tracks...and a dongle? R U Serious? By A1QJO6AEN812G4 on 2007-10-28
I picked up my copy of GHIII last night and played it a bit when I got home and this morning. If you're a fan of the other GH games, you'll love this one too.
First the positives: I love the boss battles. Lots of fun battling against slash and one of the devil's minions. The expert level boss battles are insane!
I liked the smaller guitar and fret buttons. Gameplay controls and response time is spot on. I tried to play the PS2 versions of GH II and 80s on the PS3 with the adapter, but I ended up taking it all back to the store because the controls were crap. Finally we get a GH game made just for the PS3!
Now the middle road: I'm sure I'll get some crap for this, but I'm not that happy with the song list. Yes, playing "Welcome to the Jungle" with Slash and playing Metallica's "One" is awsome, along with Slayer, etc. BUT, I miss the GH II tracks I played when I used to have the 360 (before I traded it after the ring of death and having to deal with Microsoft...what a mess). I REALLY hope the track list for GH, GHII and 80s will eventually be available for PS3, whether its by a campanion CD or download from PSNetwork. Afterall, the price of the PS3 version is the same as the 360 version and that console can play GH II at least and has a better online capability (for now at least).
What I didn't like: With all the advances the PS3 has made...how dare Activision and Red Octane release the game with a "wireless" guitar that required a gongle attached to a USB port. Are you serious?! You mean to tell me they couldn't come up with a way to make it just as wireless as the useless six axis remote? Come on! No Bluetooth? No USB recharge capability? Weak! Just another thing I have to keep buying batteries for.
Lastely, I know I mentioned this already, but I want to be able to play tracks from older versions on the PS3 the way they were meant to be played. They better make it happen!
A fun game, fans of the older versions will love it. Gamers who buy this version as their first will probably be a little dissapointed to not have some of the tracks they heard about in the previous games.
Activision didn't pull through very well GH3 could have been much better. By A2AOVCOW5KXLG4 on 2007-10-29
I originally bought a PS2 just to play guitar hero 1. And it was quite ground breaking. I then followed it up and bought GH2 and Rock the 80's. GH2 was a big improvement over the first, and 80's is the exact same engine as 2, just with different songs and graphic overlays.
Now, I was expecting quite a bit for GH3 but I don't think I was expecting anything over the top of what is possible. And here start all my issues with GH3:
1. Sony added bluetooth to the PS3 which was an amazing idea. There was NO need to add a wireless dongle. There is wireless built into the PS3 for a reason, USE IT! A wireless dongle for PS2 would be understandable. But common activision, there is NO excuse for the dongle.
2. The implementation of the GH3 controller with the PS3 is below standards. You CANNOT turn on the PS3 with the controller like you can the sixaxis.
3. People have been waiting for a guitar controller for the PS3 so they can play the old GH's on the system. Here is the controller everyone has been waiting for, but sorry... this controller doesn't work with anything but GH3. GH I, II, and rock the 80's still have no way to play on a PS3 even though sony added backwards compatability for legacy games.
4. Why couldn't they model the guitar after a sixaxis? They could have made the guitar run just like a sixaxis which in turn would create a seamless integration with the PS3 like it should be. The 5 colored buttons could stay the way they are right now, the two bottom triggers on the sixaxis are pressure sensitive and could have been used for the wammy bar. The built in motion sensor could be the 'star power' trigger, and there is still many more buttons left over. There is no need for such a poorly integrated controller.
5. The overall timing of the game feels 'off'. I've calibrated and still the game doesn't feel right.
6. In practice mode, your calibration doesn't work. So if you calibrate your TV with lets say 50ms, in practice mode it's always at 0ms no matter what. In the high ms (80+) you will not be able to hit one note properly. Go try it and see for yourself.
7. There are some great songs on here, but there is way more filler than the good stuff. I've already beat the game on expert, and I got excited for maybe 4 or 5 songs the entire way through. Mostly it was "lets get this over so I can move on" type songs.
8. The guitar runs on 2 AA batteries. Again, if this was modeled after the sixaxis like it should have been, it would have been a simple usb cord to charge the guitar. Yeah I know it's just 2 batteries, but I still feel the developers were lazy putting this package together.
There are positives, the removable neck is great, the guitar feels solid, removable face plate, updated graphics (720P), downloadable content in the future. But I still feel let down with this one. Let the flaming begin ;)
Rockin' The Playstation 3 By A3W4D8XOGLWUN5 on 2007-11-08
When it came to great music games, nothing this past year has really proven to shine like the Guitar Hero franchise. With the past few installments delivering well on the Playstation 2, many PS3 owners have been anxious for their debut on the great video game. Nevertheless, it hasn't all been smiles. With the spinoff Guitar Hero Encore: Rocks The 80's, it really didn't click definitively with die hard Playstation 2 fans. But, the PS3 has that opportunity to make it its own into the well-dedicated franchise with the latest installment of the Guitar Hero franchise, and it will, it will definitely rock you!
Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock for the Playstation 3, brings the latest installment of Activision's great music game as it debuts for the PS3. The game brings out a lot when it comes to great rock music. The game includes a special wireless guitar for the PS3 which works well with the game. The graphics and sound really deliver well into the game. The latest installment also includes some new features into the game like boss battles, which fair well, but don't completely shine with just 3 bosses, unlike the rest of the game. The standard features are here like the previous installment with multiplayer action improved, as you can compete with others online, as well as co-op mode. The songlist also shines better here as well with Rock classics like Barracuda from Heart, One by metal gods Metallica, the traditional Rock N' Roll party anthem Rock N' Roll All Night by Kiss, and other interesting surprises here like the Beastie Boys Rap classic Sabatoge. The control works well with Playstation 3, as you strum your way with the specialty PS3 guitar, and the fun works quite well, as you bring out your inner rock god. There are also a few added features here, as you can unlock specialty venues and faceplates that you can customize your guitar with.
All in all, Guitar Hero III: Legends Of Rock is a great buy for the Playstation 3 that really is worth the money, and a mostly well-delivered debut for Sony's latest console. I absolutely recommend this as one of the top music games of 2007, and the price is definitely right.

Still fun despite various annoyances By AA98O5326L88T on 2007-11-14
I was a little worried when I ordered this game based on some of the complaints I'd been reading. Having received it and spent several hours playing, I find that the complaints are basically valid but not as big a deal as some might have one believe. Here are my thoughts:
* The song list ranges from worthless to classic. They're trying to please too many different people and should probably consider releasing separate games in specific genres going forward. I love the classic rock and '80s metal tracks, but a lot of the others don't do anything for me. I'm sure that plenty of younger gamers have the opposite reaction. Also, the fact that a few of the songs can only be played in multiplayer mode is extremely annoying.
* The gameplay is indeed much harder than in previous games. Aside from the fact that Easy still uses only 3 fret buttons and Medium uses 4, each difficulty level is roughly equivalent to the next highest level in the earlier games.
* The fact that the controller isn't compatible with the earlier games still blows my mind. This is shocking and inexcusable! What were they thinking?
* The controller does have some issues -- it occasionally misses notes and the star power sensor is way too sensitive. If, like me, you're mainly interested in just jamming along to fun tunes, it's not really a big deal. If your goal is to beat every song on Expert level, it might drive you crazy. I've found that playing while sitting down helps, but of course that's not as fun as rockin' around the room. (Note to those complaining about lack of Bluetooth -- bear in mind that the bluetooth guitar will probably cost an extra $50. The RF works fine - just hit the dongle button and then the P button on the controller. You might need to fiddle with it if it doesn't set the guitar up as controller #1 though.)
* If you have lag problems, try putting the TV into Game Mode (most newer HD sets have this). That cuts out most of the image processing in the TV and may solve the problem. I went through the GH calibration on my Toshiba DLP set and it reported 0 ms lag. I haven't had any lag problems at all.
* A couple of song download packs are now available, but they're on the expensive side for only 3 songs per pack.
That all said, it's still Guitar Hero and basically the same idea as the earlier games. The fun songs are still fun and it's still worth playing. It's just not at the level of quality that it could have been.
Couldn't play the thing...guitar didn't work. By AINWD4W4NMO4Q on 2007-11-02
I was very disappointed to get this game home. I was late to the Guitar Hero "party". I've never been musically inclined (of course, I love listening to music), and never had much desire to try it out. My younger brother had GH1, II, and 80s. He was finally able to convince me to give it a whirl and I was hooked. Living in different states and having traded in my PS2 for my PS3 purchase, I was eagerly awaiting this game's release. I bought it the first day it came out, got it home, and couldn't play.
The guitar, quite simply, would not connect properly. I got it to sync, but apparently suffered from a weak signal between the guitar and the dongle. I would have to hit a key numerous times before it would register with the game, making it impossible to play. Let me just say that Activision using infared INSTEAD of the bluetooth abilities of the PS3 was a very bad idea. I don't know that I've ever been this disappointed with a video game. Needless to say, I returned the game and will not buy it until a different guitar is released...wired or bluetooth. Activision should be ashamed of the quality they allowed to be released to the public.

Ok, first of all I can't beat one song on expert. I love GH2 on PS2 and I can rock five stars to most medium songs, and four to a few on every play.
I have never beat one of these games on hard. BUT I enjoy it immensely so I don't care what your 8 year old can do on expert.
As I said. I can rock through any song on medium. When Rock the 80's came out, I killed it on medium.
So I get GH3 on PS3. I was very excited. I was there Saturday at 12am to get it, drank a bunch of coffee and was ready to roll.
I start out and it seems MUCH harder, though the reviews say it is easier. That's fine though. I want challenges.
The guitar feels weird. but I can't seem to hit any notes right. I have calibrated and maybe i need to manually adjust it til it is right, but then in practice mode your calibration is disregarded. I mean just easy notes are all fudged for me. I feel helpless.I couldn't hit single notes and the strummer felt way too soft.
When I got to Lagrange by ZZ Top I failed in the first 25% 30 times on medium. Just regular strumming to successive notes. The thing is I regularly nail MUCH MUCH more difficult stuff. But then I beat the song, but I did it by muting the game. It was just weird.
I know I suck and you guys can rip on me because I can't beat it on expert and blah blah, but most of us can NOT beat expert. I think the medium songs have many more hammers and pulls which is fine, but I cannot seem to adapt.
Seems like Star Power turns on with too slight of movement too
I love the look of the game. I have a 61" HDTV so finally it looks spectacular, but the song list is not enjoyable like it was before, but that may change as I get better. The original series just seemed right, but maybe the change is the issue and it will pass, but currently I want to play Thunderhorse, Who Was In My Room, Monkey Wrench, and War Pigs.
It seemed to take forever to get to Maiden and Metallica.
Is it just me or is the timing in this game just not the same?
UPDATE: I SET THE CALIBRATION LAG MANUALLY TO 24MS AND NAILED IT. THE STRUM BAR IS STILL VERY SOFT AND IT IT EASILY BOUNCES BACK TO DOUBLESTRUM IN AN ANNOYING WAY. THE ONLINE MODE IS GREAT TOO!
- Tenacious D... they're kidding, right?
     By A3RKO5C3LEOVXT on 2007-10-30
So, overall the game is pretty awesome. Much harder than The last one, but what else do you expect? My only complaint is the songs.
On a game titled "Legends of Rock" I would expect classic LEGENDARY artists... not Tenacious D, AFI and lots of other UP AND COMING artists and people I have never even heard of... kinda disappointing. I am hoping for a game with GREAT artists and groups, like Nirvana, Johnny Cash, Van Halen, REAL Legends.
- GH3: how to ruin an indestructible franchise
     By AAQS3N9XPXHWW on 2007-11-05
First, the guitar is NOT compatible with any prior GH game. Indefensible problem #1. Second, like others I find it unresponsive compared to the original guitar. Third, in all prior GH games I could 5 star all but the top tier songs on expert. In GH3 hard mode is equal to expert in the previous games, and I won't even try expert, which I assume is unplayable. Instead of an immersive experience I'm furious while playing it over the blatant way the game is designed to be inaccessible even to experienced players. There's no feeling like you're playing the song when you can't hit any notes in succession. Hammer-ons and pull-offs are as hard now as the original, and since they make up massive sections of songs, those songs are worthless. Plus you can't play Sabotage w/out another player. Are they TRYING to turn us away? Avoid this and hope Rock Band gets it right.
- Guitar Compatibility Blues
     By ADJXCP2Y4OWZ9 on 2007-12-30
Your PlayStation 2 guitar will not work with this game, even with an adapter. Your Rock Band guitar will not work with this game. The guitar that comes with this game will not work with the PlayStation 2 or Xbox versions of Guitar Hero I, II, or III. The guitar that comes with this game will not work with any version of Rock Band. Basically, the guitar that comes with this game works only with this game, and this game only works with the guitar that comes with it. This is Activision's way of telling you that they hate you and want you to buy 2 guitar controllers for every single guitar game that you buy.
Aside from that bit of stupidity, the selection of songs included with this game is VASTLY INFERIOR to the ones included with the first two games, even if there are a lot fewer covers. The note charts also seem a lot less well-constructed; many of the songs are simply no fun to play. The new boss battles add nothing but annoyance and frustration -- two of them aren't even proper songs; just random noodling on the guitar by some washed-up has-been. Despite all of this, they didn't manage to completely destroy the game; if you have fun playing Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero II, you'll still have fun playing Guitar Hero III, just not quite as much fun. If you don't own the first two games, get one of those instead.
- Great game but much harder
     By A2ATDO0SYYU8LA on 2007-10-31
First off let me just say that this is a great game. I was a little concerned when it switched from Harmonix to Neversoft, but they have stayed true to what guitar hero is all about. Mechanics of the game is the same and the game play is very fun as usual.
This however is not for the faint hearted. The song list is great (mostly original artists and not cover bands like the last 2 games) but they are very fast paced and particulary "shredders" where you feel your arm is about to fall off. I play on hard and expert. You shouldn't have any problems and if you are new to guitar hero I recommend on starting out easy/medium due to the difficultly level being anti-upped in guitar hero 3. "One" in particular is the song title by Metallica which is a very hard song to beat and this would be for those who have played guitar hero before and want a significant challenge.
What's interesting is that they have added what's called "battle mode" which instead of star power, you get battle power. So when you activate your "battle power" (same as activating star power) you are able to distract your opponent but cutting a string, flipping his guitar to lefty, making him hit the whammy bar, upping the difficult (hard to expert) and doubling the notes. This is a very fun addition and adds to the party game experience while adding challenge too.
As far as the guitar it's self, I had no problem hooking it (bluetooth and the PS3 version using a dongle). Just hit the button on the dongle then the PS button on the controller. The strum bar does not click as much and it is slightly longer than the previous models making strumming easier. The buttons and neck seem sturdier and les paul design is classic with inter-changable face plates. The guitar is significantly heavier (but not heavy where it hurts the neck) so you don't feel like you're going to break it while rocking out to the songs. Online play is great and I haven't had any problems so far with lag time/delays. I would highly recommend this to has played guitar hero before and to people who want to start playing (just start out on medium trust me).
- the guitar is crap
     By A1PJVY6VUBRVST on 2007-10-30
I won't waste my time re listing all the problems with the guitar controller, just read other's reviews.
I love this game, but there is a definite lag and the controller took 20 minutes to hook up right.
- Another Great installment of the Guitar hero franchise
     By AC7Q6LSIGYLLG on 2007-11-07
First off I want to say that after hearing alot of negative reviews I didn't seem to have the bad experiences alot of people did. It did take me a few minuets to hook up the guitar but after that everything was great.
I love the guitar hero franchise and have been hooked ever since I played it. As for the 3rd installment and 1st for the PS3 I think they did a good job. I LOVE the new guitar. I really don't see the bad in it. It works great for me. To me it feels like a better quality than the GH2 version. I love the fact I don't have to shake the hell out of the guitar to get star power and I just flat out like how it looks. But just like Dino said in his review it does attract fingerprints.
The best thing for the game however is the online play. It is a pain if you cant connect (happens more than it should and will probably get fixed with patches) but it makes it so much more fun to know that at anytime I can hop on and jam out with another person. And it makes the replay ability that much better.
The one recurring negative theme of this game is the difficulty. On GH2 I was good enough to complete hard with but not good enough for expert. But with GH3 it is alot harder. I have already beat med with all 5 stars and im starting on hard and its exactly that HARD.
As for the song choice I would still have to say GH2 was better but I do like the songs in GH3. There are a bunch of fun songs to play in GH3 (barracuda, one, rock it like a hurricane just to name a few)and thats the key word FUN.
Really this game was everything I expected it to be. Great graphics, a nice choice of songs, better guitar and so the only reason I didn't give it a 5 star rating is the difficulty is just a little to hard even for experienced players.
- Some issues
     By A3PJLDD3Y1NEEX on 2007-12-01
Be advised that there are still some bugs with the release on the PS3 format. Internet connectivity is an issue so don't expect a smooth experience there. It takes quite a few attempts of at least 2 dozen tries before you can connect to someone.
There is only one guitar available and that is with the expensive game pack. Individual guitars will be released early next year. Don't expect Guitar Hero 2 wired guitars to play even with the adapter.
Also, if you are interested in the new Rock Band, the Les Paul guitar (one included with GH3) will not work as of yet for Rock Band. Again, Rock Band has only one included guitar with expensive game pack and no individuals available until eary next year.
- Waste of money
     By A2B3QX3RIFZTUW on 2007-12-26
I bought this game reading all the positive reviews, but this is a waste of $100. Unless you get the notes perfect every time not a little early or late, you fail the song. This is not fun. Very frustrating to say the least. The guitar doesn't even have strings.
- Love this game lots of fun
     By A2KA27UB363RNG on 2007-10-29
No sure what all these bad reviews are all about but I bought the game Sunday, went home and played for hours. Had some friends over and rhey could not put the guitar down. Would recommend to PS 3 owners
- Great Game
     By A2WY0FR0XH5WEP on 2007-10-31
This is the newest installment of a great series. The people stammering about how this game is terrible on PS3 are full of it. Just b/c it has a remote receiver doesnt make a difference. Sony and Red Octane plan to release Bluetooth guitars, so if you simply cant stand the receiver then w/e. Little quirks shouldnt be the reason to give a game poor reviews.
- Not bad for the first PS3 Installment
     By A18A8QMMXNP4SJ on 2007-11-05
Regarding the many complaints over the new wireless guitar not working, I also had problems setting up the guitar initially. All I can say is follow the instructions for setting up the wireless guitar VERBATIM. After the initial set up, I had no problems, with the exception of having to calibrate the guitar on my Samsung LCD TV.
Overall, Guitar Hero III is more polished than Guitar Hero II (I never played the original Guitar Hero or Guitar Hero: Rock the 80's). Graphics are improved and updated, and the animated scenes between levels are nice. The character models are also updated (Judy Nails looks entirely different from her Guitar Hero II incarnation).
I have Guitar Hero II for the Xbox 360 (though I no longer have a 360 as I sold it after I got the red rings) and the reason I bought it for PS3 was because of the free online play (of course, no longer having a 360 was a factor as well; though I prefer my PS3 to the 360, I still would like to get another 360 as soon as I hear that they've significantly addressed their hardware issues). I have yet to play online, but as soon as I do, I will be back with an updated review.
I prefer the new Les Paul guitar controller to GHII's Exploder guitar, and the high gloss black looks nice. Whereas I decorated the white Exploder Guitar with the included decals, I am going to leave the Les Paul controller as is. Though it looks nice, the high gloss black will attract a lot of fingerprints and smudges.
- Don't Know What All The Complaining is About
     By A1FW17M0WN4IKX on 2007-11-12
Bought the game over the past weekend and managed to put in a couple hrs of gameplay in. it took me about 15 minutes to set up the connection to the guitar and ps3 but that's mostly because i'm lazy and didn't bother to read the instructions....once i followed the instructions everything was fine. no lag, no problems otherwise.
the gameplay was great as expected, the soundtrack is excellent, and i have no real complains. great purchase, and i would recommend it to others.
- ROCK ON!
     By AWODCITRSF6PM on 2007-11-16
Who doesn't love playing the air guitar? Guitar Hero 3 is my first time playing the game. I played it for 4 hours in the first setting. Starting off on easy, the songs were beatable with 4 or 5 stars on the first time through. I have just scratched the surface with medium, and plan on playing that more, now that I have a good hold on easy.
If you are worried about battery life with the new wireless controller, stop worrying, it will outlast you for sure. I calculated 57 hours of play time with 2000mAH rechargeable batteries. So, if you wanted to, you could rock out ALL weekend on the same batteries. I experienced no lag, and the removable guitar neck is solid.
Like a lot of the reviews I have read online have said, I quickly found out the online play is broken for now. I couldn't get a challenger when I tried to join a game.
On to the gameplay, which is a fun concept, and Guitar Hero has delivered. I have gotten away from playing video games lately, but I think this will get me back into the swing of things. Now my PS3 isn't only there as a dust collector, it is finally being used as an entertainment device. Playing the boss battles are a nice change of pace, and a good addition to the series. It's time for me to get back to playing GH3! This game is an awesome buy, there is no wonder why it is a hard find in the retail stores.
- Fun!
     By A1HLGQXEOOMLM on 2007-11-22
I would watch people play this game and think how could this be fun? So I gave it a shot once and thought ok, what's the big deal. But my sister wanted to have this game and thought it would be a good family game regardless. So I'm hooked now. Playing in career mode is a blast and I love the battles. This game is a ton of fun and I would recommend this game to anyone that's a kid at heart.
- Guitar Hero III: Legends of Rock - ...If only I could customize the song list
     By A24V1BGD5BYDHI on 2007-11-30
I bought Guitar Hero III Legends of Rock as a birthday gift for my 11 years-old son but I have passed more time stuck to it than himself. However we have spend great times Rockin' together. If only I could customize the song list It would be perfect.
- Guitar Hero for PS3

- Great game - Need to sell unbundled controllers
     By A7OWTLDFE5SNJ on 2008-01-04
I've found GHIII to be pretty addictive. Overall it's a great game with some pretty cool songs (and a few not so good ones - but still fun).
A couple frustrating features that I've noticed:
- The dongle and the controller do not connect easily. I follow the directions in the white insert of the manual and the connection is still hit or miss. On a couple occasions the controller connected at start-up and just as I was about to begin playing a song, I lost the connection. This is pretty frustrating and probably worth discussing with Activision.
- Not necessarily a negative but I've found the skill levels to be quite a bit more challenging than older versions. I conquered the Easy level in GHIII and moved up to Medium. The difference between the two levels seems to be a lot wider gap than I would expect. Probably will just take more practice.
- You cannot buy a controller for purchase w/o the game at this time. I would like to buy one more controller so my wife and I can play together but so far... no luck!
Fun rating is a 5 but these negatives bring the overall rating down to 3.
- A few flaws but ultimately a decent game.

Being a guitar player, I dismissed the first two games, thinking that it was just silly. Then, I played GH3 at a friend's house and saw how much fun it was. So, I decided to scoop it up soon after getting my PS3.
What I like:
The graphics are stellar. Of course though, they should be. It's for the PS3, after all. They also seem to have captured the essence of guitar playing, without actually playing guitar. The strummer goes up and down, allowing for realistic alternate "picking". The notes on the screen are also seemingly consistent with where you would place your fingers on a real fretboard. Of course, there are only 5 buttons but they manage to still make it challenging enough for some serious gamers.
It was nice to hear some of the bands I listen to, like Metallica, Slayer, Slipknot, Dragonforce, Killswitch Engage and Dead Kennedys. You can also customize the look of your character, as well as your on-screen guitar.
What I didn't like:
While the song list contained some real gems, there will be songs that you either never heard of or don't particularly care for and you will have to play some of them in career mode. It would have been nice to be able to customize the set list. Instead of having to play the songs they give you, they could have given you some more options, like remove this song from the setlist and replace it with that one. That might have been a lot of effort for the people that made the game but I figure that with all the downloadable songs availabe, they could just keep all of those songs in the game automatically and make it possible to choose from them.
It seems the boss battles aren't drawing much popularity from the reviewers here and I have to go with the majority. The problem is, it's not really about skill, it's about luck. You can expect to hit the restart button many times while doing these pointless noodle contests. You can't practice the battles, only the regular songs. Also, even if you are getting good at learning the note succession, that doesn't matter because you have to attack your opponent and try and make him fail. They seem to have missed the point of guitar battles. It's supposed to be about who is more skilled, not who can make your guitar mess up. On a side note, the Tom Morello battle is just plain stupid. He's not even really playing guitar, he's just making sound effects. I know that's his style and all but they could have picked a better, more "guitar hero" sounding player.
Overall, I'm not all that disappointed in this purchase. It's fun to play and it provides an alternative to the traditional games on most consoles. It's just that with the new generation of consoles fresh on the market, I expected it to be leaps and bounds above anything the PS2 ever had to offer.
- EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT! EXCELLENT!

I dont really know what to say on this review, but the simple fact that this game is crazy fun and addicting. The songs are great and i can't wait to download more.
this is definately a must buy for any music fanatic or musician.
I've never played guitar hero 1 and 2, so this is a review based on guitar hero 3 with no comparisons to 1 and 2.
- Horrible Lag
     By A31PNZBN0OO3H6 on 2007-11-02
I definitely agree that there is some rather bad lag with the PS3 version of the game. I have a feeling that it has something to do with the mysterious dongle that is used to connect the wireless controller to the console, that none of the other versions of the game seem to have. I too have GH 1, 2, and 80's on the PS2 and I blaze through them on Expert. I have also played GH3 on the 360 and the gameplay was right on and there was no lag whatsoever. Needless to say, when compared to the 360 version of GH3 the PS3 version is just not worth buying. Thats not good at all IMO seeing as how this was one of the games that I chose to buy for the PS3 instead of the 360.
- good follow-up

My cousin bought GHII a while back and got me addicted. Overall, nothing much is new with number 3, but you do get some cooler music to keep it interesting. I find it funny that a lot of people are having trouble with the controller on most of the systems. I don't even own the game. I've played the PS3 version at my local Best Buy in town, and have had no trouble at all in playing. You just have to keep looking and hope you get a bundle with a controller that works.
- Cost of item

Why is Amazon selling this for $174.00 when it is available evrywhere else for $99?
I wouldn't buy it from Amazon for that reason
- Rock-On
