Good, but not great By AEKN5079EYSNH on 2007-10-11
I haven't seen any reviews for this game (not only on Amazon, but anywhere), so I decided to give it a go. Before I begin, I want to point out that I am a big fan of the previous Crash games (not so much for Twin Sanity), so I was anticipating this for a while now. The first time I seen an advertisement for this was at the movie theaters. It looked like it would be fun, but then when it came out, nobody reviewed it.
My 8-year-old son begged me to buy it (I wanted Metroid), so I did and we are both having a blast with it. The only things similar to the older games I feel are the characters. Everything else looked and played like it was built from scratch. There are similarities with this game and the older games, but not much. One example is that the boxes that are plentiful with Mangos (or whatever there called)to smash and grab are present in this game, but are not as plentiful or seem as necessary as in the previous games.
The 2-player part of the game is cool because the 2nd player can come and go whenever they feel like it. It's nice for my family because my daughter gets bored of games easily and when my son gets stuck at a hard part (hard for him - this game is easy), I can jump in and help him out, then split whenever I want.
I recommend getting the Wii version because of the control scheme. The Wii remote functions change depending on what Titan Crash controls. Sometimes you use it as a Zapper, and sometimes it's necessary to pound it on your chest like a gorilla to use special abilities. Shaking the Wii remote also causes Crash to spin like in the previous games. I would say graphically, the game would probably be on par with the PS2. I haven't seen the PS3 or XBOX version yet to compare.
Even though it's different from previous Crash entries, I gave it a four out of five mainly because it's still unique and the multiplayer function is pretty original and works great.
Poor Crash... By ADBYSERE6VI3J on 2007-12-01
The game is a blast, but it just isn't Crash. You might as well be playing Ty, Jak and Daxter, Scaler, etc. But most of all, it really reminds me of "Sponge Bob: Battle for Bikini Bottom". It's as if the game was written and developed without reguard to who the title character would be. The only things that are distinctively Crash, like crates and wumpa fruit are just thrown in at random. Any character could have played the title role.
In addition, all of the characters have been redesigned. They look fine (except Tiny), but again dissapointing.
As I said, the game is really fun and quite well done, but don't buy it expecting your beloved Bandicoot! In reality, this is only a Crash Bandicoot game, so that they can bank on the name recognition. It's sad really.
Alright game, but. doesn't feel like a Crash game. By A15UQN9VS6L5IO on 2007-11-24
Wow, what happened to this franchise? This game is allright, but in no way is it as good as any of it predacessors. A Crash game is just not a Crash game without the trademark spin, collecting Wompa fruit, knocking head/bouncing into wooden boxes to get said wompa fruit/free guy/Aku Aku powerup/etc. Why did the villians have to get annoying dialogue when in battle with Crash? What happened to Crash's trademark "Woh!"? Speaking of dialogue, the current game has Crash going through puberty backwards, he seems more scronny, and has lost his touch. This just doesn't feel like a Crash game. Granted, Crash's usual formulla is a recycled version of Super Mario Bros., but it at least that worked. This just isn't a Crash game. This is the Super Mario Bros. 2/Super Mario Sunshine of the Crash series.
Great for those new to Crash. Still pretty good for fans of the old Crash By A2S2S46OX3OYTJ on 2007-12-29
For those who are new to the series, this is a game you will likely enjoy. The graphics are solid and the controls very easy to learn.
With that said, the redesign of some of the characters and behaviors may be at least mildly irritating for longtime fans of the series (like me). Objectively, this is still a very good game and will provide hours of fun for children and adults. It's not perfect, but it's certainly better than average.
One noteworthy feature is the ability to select from three difficulty levels helps make the game more approachable and fun for gamers of various ages and levels of experience/skill. Also, the implementation of the cooperative play feature is a fun way for a second player to jump into and out of the game as desired.
Loved It!! By A2CAGG5CPZ209U on 2007-12-12
I purchased this game for my grandchildren and they loved it. It was easy for them to play and they got a kick out of beating me at it. My reflexes are not as fast as theirs so finally, they got me good. I enjoyed the time spent playing with them also. It is a family friendly game.
