  Yes, this is the original cable made my Apple in their pretty packaging. I am replacing a cable that this bad on a 1st generation iPod Nano. In case you are thinking you have a bad cable, the iPod wouldn't charge, Windows didn't know I plugged anything in and the Nano would reboot over and over. With this new cable, it works great.

  Just a heads up: I ordered this from "dream bargains" and I didn't receive the official "Apple" ipod cable, like the description says. It was a bootleg cable not made by Apple. It seems to work fine, but it you're looking for the "official" Apple cable this isn't it.

  works as a straight Ipod connector to USB. I wish I could find the dock to firewire, but Apple can't seem to support this format any more for some reason. Although, USB 2 is quite fast, it's still not as fast as the firewire connection I have. Price was an issue as well. Little pricey for this piece. The product does work, work the manufacturer is getting jerkey.

  Service was fast however before I got the item, I found the one I was missing and although a month or so later, I attempted to contact the seller so I could attempt to return it and never got an answer either way.

  When using this cable to connect my iPod to my PC, the PC sometimes recognizes that a USB device has been connected but always fails to recognize that it is an iPod. iTunes does not recognize that an iPod is connected to the computer. This iPod has been used regularly with the PC before using the original cable. Going back to the original cable resolves the problems.
