  • Surprisingly great

    By AJKWF4W7QD4NS on 2008-02-16
No matter how the game's cover may look to you, make no mistake that Professor Layton and the Curious Village is one of the best original puzzle games you'll play on the DS yet. A combination of adventure storytelling and traditional puzzle gaming, Professor Layton never fails to entertain while providing some challenging puzzles. The game revolves around said Professor Layton traveling to a small village with his young assistant Luke. Both of whom are on a search for something called The Golden Apple. To search the town, you move from one area to another by tapping the touch screen, and along the way, you can discover hidden puzzles, hint coins, and secrets, as well as interacting with the townspeople and solving more puzzles. The game's graphics are incredibly charming, and the FMV sequences are very well done to boot. The best part about Professor Layton and the Curious Village is that once you do beat the game and unlock the game's 120 plus puzzles, you can download weekly puzzles for absolutely free! The only real flaw of Professor Layton and the Curious Village is that the game's music is repetitive and even kind of annoying, but you can always turn the volume of the DS down, which you might want to do. That aside, don't let the box art fool you into thinking that this is a game just for kids. Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an absolute must own for every puzzle loving DS owner.

  • A challenging collection of logic puzzles - not to be missed

    By A37XS5X0D0F1YW on 2008-02-11
Professor Layton and the Mysterious Village is basically a series of logic puzzles wrapped around a lighthearted mystery. The story portions and basic point-and-click adventure aspects keep things moving along, but the real meat here is the puzzle selection (there are 130 in total, although not all are necessary to finish the game).

Many of the puzzles are difficult, but none are "cheap" - like a great Zelda dungeon, you always know the solution to your problem is in reach. No time limits are imposed, so you can play around and try to tease out the answer for as long as you like. I'm keeping a pad and paper next to me at all times to sketch out ideas and diagrams (and occasionally some light math). If you love that sort of thing, grab this game as soon as you can.

The Professor has a nice pedigree - the game was developed by Level 5, who have been behind some great epic RPGs: Dragon Quest VII (and the upcoming IX), Rogue Galaxy, the Dark Cloud series, and the upcoming PS3 title White Knight Story. They're one of my favorite developers, and it's great to see them branching out into something like this.

Between the constant and varied "quest" puzzles, the larger meta-puzzles, and some nice surprises thrown in along the way, there's plenty here to keep you occupied. Even better, new downloadable puzzles will be made available regularly. Add a charming art style and a great soundtrack (think whimsical French street music), and you've got an early contender for the DS game of the year.

  • Great game, love the brainteasers/riddles

    By A282RNKOO2P5RT on 2008-02-10
This game is challenging and a lot of fun. The storyline is interesting and easy to follow, but for me it's all about the puzzles. The brainteasers in the game are form Puzzle Master Akira Tago, a retired professor from Chiba University, who wrote "Head Gymnastics." Many of them are classics and they will bring back instant memories of your early education. Some puzzles are pretty tough and hint coins can be found to help with these. Remember, many of the puzzles need to be solved before you can advance to the next part of the story; use your hint coins wisely.

(Small Spoiler: The hint coins are scattered throughout the village. Click everywhere, you'll uncover them.)

    Pros:

    - The touch screen/stylus controls are simple and easy to learn.
    - You can save your progress at any time.
    - Animated scenes and voice acting are very good.
    - Your "Puzzle Index" keeps track of all the puzzles you've solved. You can even tag your favorites in your "Picks" section.
    - You can download more puzzles from WFC every week.

    Cons:

    - I've needed a pen and paper a few times when the puzzles were a bit more challenging and there wasn't enough room on the DS screen for notes.
    - Only the animated scenes are "fully voiced". During game-play, all the conversations are text/subtitles. No biggie really as it doesn't detract from the experience.

More to come later; I gotta get back to playing. :)

  • Great game for pre-teen (under 13) and younger children

    By APP8XWYYV4PAA on 2008-02-18
We purchased this as a gift for a friend's son who is 9 and in the 4th grade. He had a great time working through the puzzles and seemed to enjoy it immensely. This game was chosen as it was a new release and it is educational as it requires problem solving skills rather than just eye and hand coordination. On one puzzle, our friend's son could not easily solve the puzzle, so he went to pen and paper to diagram it out and solve it so he could move to the next level. It was a puzzle that even required an adult to think about how it should be solved (but not beyond a child's skill level).

It was not easy to find a young smart child a gift that was educational and fun (I reviewed a lot of toys and games on the Amazon site and nearly gave up with as most of them were silly and did not seem that they would hold any child's attention once they completed the game or engage an adult who would play with the child). When I learned he had a Nintendo and I read the reviews for this game, as well as the description, I thought it would make a great gift and not annoy his parents as it would be too silly.

I think Nintendo has a winner in the DS games like Brain Age, Clubhouse Games and Professor Layton as they engage the children, and make it interesting for parents and other adults to play with them.

  • Tough, but Addicting!

    By ASEN6RUNS5V6G on 2008-02-19
A wonderful game! I agree with those who say this would be too hard for younger kids. The puzzles are quite tough. (But then I'm an old fart of 40 who wasn't all that great with logic puzzles as a kid) Hint coins? I need them desperately. Scrap paper? I use a lot. But the story is told with such charm that I keep going. It's a true "just one more before I turn it off" game. The art direction, with its old-timey look is wonderful. (It reminds me of the Tintin books, and I suspect Luke's blue sweater is a direct homage.)

  • Professor Layton and the Occasionally Frustrating Village
    By AI2D03ST16O5F on 2008-02-18
I won't summarize the plot here as it's been presented in both the publisher's review. This review recounts my personal experience with the game although your mileage may vary.

As others have mentioned, Professor Layton is beautifully done. The graphics, voice acting, and cut scenes are all pretty top notch. The controls are also easy to use and not clumsy at all. The story captivates - lots of weird happenings that border on the uncanny (Hoffmann would eat his heart out) - and the puzzles are challenging.

Well, problem is, some of the puzzles are way too bloody obnoxious, and I feel like that that's saying a lot given how I eat and breathe puzzle games. I seriously felt that I was teleported to my middle school and high school years where I'm forced to solve those damned train problems (train A goes 45 mph at 10am from the west, and train B goes 30 mph at 12:00pm; what time do they meet?).

I really enjoyed the puzzles that required you to play around -- like moving around pieces of your puzzle (both literally and figuratively), using your stylus to map out different paths, or turning your DS around to figure out some of the puzzles. The algebra/trig -- no thanks; to me, it ceased being a puzzle game when it recounted memories of the SAT and other standardized tests. Penny Arcade did a strip that perfectly illustrated my feelings on this.

I like the integration of puzzles with the games, but it seems like the storyline and the puzzle factor constantly compete with each other. Yes, I know that this is a puzzle game, but the flow between story and puzzle is far from fluent; at times, it's down right awkward. I wonder how conducive the puzzles are to the storyline because on more than one occasion, they seem like an incessant filler. When you talk to someone, he/she always always proffers, "HO HO HO, I gots a puzzle fer ya! Are ya as fancy and smart as you look??" I mean, I'm asking if you saw someone or if you will get out of my way; WHY are you giving me another puzzle to solve?

Scattered throughout the village are hint coins. If you're stumped on a puzzle, you can pay a coin per hint, up to three per puzzle. Contrary to what the villager told you and his warning, hint coins aren't located in just suspicious looking areas and aren't as limited as he'd like you to believe. Click around on your screen (somewhat along the lines of button mashing), they're located EVERYWHERE, and you'll find a plethora of them.

I do like the game. It's extremely enjoyable for puzzle lovers or for those who want to play something new and innovative!

  • fun and challenging game, beautifully presented
    By AB399AECXCDT8 on 2008-03-14
How is it that the graphical presentation in a game on the Nintendo DS can be better than the graphical presentation on a high powered console? The answer is given by this game which artfully depicts the inhabitants and locale of St. Mystere, a fictitious city in Europe. Clearly, there are two parts to creating great graphics. Part one is simply the horsepower behind the graphics. Part two is best described by terms from the art world such as quality of composition and the overall attention to the feel of the presentation. As the DS is not known for being the most powerful of hand held consoles, and the graphics in Professor Layton and the Curious Village are clearly superior to most games I have played, I argue that the second part is the most important. The graphics for this game are simple but artfully done. Nowhere does the presentation veer from the feel established for the game by the opening animation. Also, the arrangement of characters, objects, and houses on the screen is flawless. I wish that, instead focusing on the rendering of yet more polygons per frame, game designers would pay more attention to aspects of composition and the creation of a feel for their subject matter. That said, the game play and story are a lot of fun too. The game play revolves around simple exploration and a lot of puzzle solving. Although there is a hint system, the puzzles are sometimes quite challenging. Solving them definitely requires some thinking and herein lies the fun of the game. If you don't like puzzles you will probably not like this game. The story is also very interesting. I was drawn in from the beginning and found myself motivated to solve puzzles as fast as I could just to see what would happen next. I said above that if you don't like puzzles you will not like this game, but if you have never tried a puzzle game before and want to try one for yourself, I highly recommend giving this one a try. The quality of the story and graphical presentation will motivate you to give even the most difficult of puzzles that extra spurt of effort needed to them.

  • Bad Professor Layton! Very Bad!
    By A2GJPMXNW3B3QO on 2008-02-20
Professory Layton is a bad game. I skipped a shower on Saturday, failed to do my laundry, cook meals (hot pockets aren't that bad actually) and didn't want to leave the house. My back hurt from spending days on the couch, I slept poorly and I took a long lunch yesterday to keep playing!!!!

This game is addicting. I bought in on Friday night and by Sunday afternoon I completed it. I was up all night until 3 am on Sunday morning, slept a few hours and wittled away my afternoon on the couch.

Although, I am still trying to locate 3 of the puzzles within the game. I clocked close to 13 hours on this stupid thing within the first 48 hours of owning it. I do admit, several of the puzzles did require pen and paper. The 33,333 was the most difficult for me. But many of the puzzles just require you to read it carefully to understand it and the answers are sort of a "DUH!" once you "get it."

The story is aptly termed "a light hearted mystery." It's fun, interesting, creative, easy to follow, but most of all challenging and intriguing.

I highly recommend this game and if you want to wait about another week, I'll be selling mine. jennw84@gmail.com

Save your dough and don't buy Brain Age, this is a lot better!

  • Good Game But Nothing Special In the Long Run
    By A318YMWV6R5DNT on 2008-02-29
It's a great game the first time you play. The puzzles are hard and interesting. But the magic disappears when you're doing the same things over and over again. You have to just solve puzzles and the story develops very slowly. It's got nice art direction and is pretty original but the fun doesn't last. I was so bored with the second and third time I played it... by the forth time I was so frustrated with the repetition that I sold it.

  • Possibly not for everyone!
    By AGJAZXHQHR8TM on 2008-02-13
Don't get me wrong! I love this game but I don't know how younger kids will respond to it. A lot of the puzzles are very challenging even for me and I'm 28 :) I just wanted to let parents know that they might expect complaining from kids because the puzzles may be just too difficult for them. One thing that is great about this game is that it has all of the completed puzzles in a list for you to go back and replay. After I'm done with a few of them I have my husband try his hand at them. It's very cool to see how differently our brains work. Some puzzles that I find are difficult for me are really easy for him and vice versa. I have also absolutely needed some paper to write out some of the puzzles. Definitely a fun game but not really "E" for everyone.

  • Fantastic Game for Adults (and Kids)
    By A21S26XYPGXJZX on 2008-03-02
My ten year old son couldn't stop looking over my shoulder while I played this game (non-stop for over a week, now). It's more challenging for him, but his math program at school has a brain-teaser assignment for every Friday and and least two of the puzzles in the game were ones that he had already done as homework.

One good thing to know is that you don't have to solve ALL the problems in order to progress through the game, so in most cases you can bypass one you are really stuck on, and come back to resolve them later.

I "finished" the game and will let my son start from the beginning, but one of the things that will keep me from trading this one in now that I'm done is that every week I can download a new puzzle via wi-fi from Nintendo, so we'll be doing puzzles for quite a while. Excellent game, highly recommended.

  • Story unfolds by itself.
    By A1A3U8OMJ6R2QR on 2008-07-07
Rather than a game, this is a collection of 135 basic puzzles and trivial puzzles that only sound hard. The puzzles are unlocked sequentially by clicking through the linear story. It is marketed as some kind of detective/mystery/adventure game, but it's not. The story actually just plays by itself, and you answer the puzzles.

The trivial variety puzzle uses arbitrary wordplay or ambiguous definitions. This becomes annoying when you can't ask the game to clarify the ambiguous question; hence, you sometimes get penalized for doing things the "right" way. These make up about 10% of the questions.

If you find yourself taking more than a minute, remember that nothing here can't be solved by a 3rd grader, so you are probably doing a trivial question.

Overall, the game was worth the time for the story and art design. Puzzles were amusingly written at times, though few actually make you use dedicated thought. Since 3 players can independently save progress, this is an ideal family game, particularly for kids.

  • Alas, Unbalanced
    By A3LDP7OUKOO63N on 2008-04-29
I love most of this game -- the story, the translation, the music and voice acting, the artwork, the fact that if you can read and hold the stylus, you can play it. If I love it, why do I only give it an overall 3 stars? Because the puzzles themselves are deeply unbalanced.

The game has a difficulty-rating system (called picarats) which purports to tell you how hard the various puzzles are, ranging from 10/90 to 90/90. There's also a hint-coin system, where you collect coins with which you can purchase hints. Unfortunately, both systems are broken.

The puzzles gives you instructions, then when you break down and buy the first hint, it either A) restates the instructions or B) gives you a suggestion that is either singularly unhelpful or something that you've already tried. (Example: Puzzle Sez: Three people have placed identical umbrellas in an umbrella-stand. What's the probability that one of them will grab an umbrella that isn't theirs? First Hint: You don't have to do any complicated math to figure this out! Er, excuse me? How is that a hint!?) The second and third hints are not usually much better, though they have a higher rate of helpfulness to lack thereof.

The other problem with the game is that the puzzles do not start out easy and increase in difficulty as you get closer to the end. They're randomly sprinkled throughout the town of St. Mystere, and if you get stuck on one you may not be able to advance the story. (Fortunately, there's at least one excellent walkthrough at GameFAQs.com -- it's the only reason I beat the game.)

To be fair, the rating of the difficulty of puzzles is probably one of the harder things to do -- being a very visual person with an emphasis on kinesthetics, I have a better time with puzzles that can be solved by drawing pictures or moving pieces. Logic puzzles, on the other hand, I hate hate hate with a burning passion.

So if you like, or are not bothered by, randomly-difficult puzzle and not-so-helpful hints, then this game is for you. If you'd rather play something that's less-frustrating, you may wish to look elsewhere.

  • An amazing game for ages 10-12
    By AGXSYWRSDA8KN on 2008-10-16
Professer Layton and the Curious Village was one of the best video games I have ever played. I am 11 and found the brainteasers interesting, entertaining, and sometimes challenging. Even when the game is done, it is still fun to go back and do the puzzles again and again. Even the plot was exciting and confusing, but came together at the end. The ending was awesome, and rounded out the game well. The little mini-accomplishments that opened up secrets were tough, but in a good way. I have friends that also love this game, and they are 11, too. The puzzles were made perfectly for kids my age, and probably kids a little older and a little younger than me, too. This is my favorite game ever, and I encourage anyone who likes to do puzzles to buy this game, and I assure you, you will love it.

  • Puzzles to give you a headache
    By AMHF53IRZD4XR on 2008-02-18
While I find the story and characters amusing and cute, the puzzles can be incredibly difficult. I'm not very good with math, especially in my head, and more than half of these puzzles deal with math of some kind. I didn't think I'd have to use a calculator to play! I wouldn't suggest this game for a child unless they're good with math and don't get frustrated easily.

  • Fast Moving, Tough Puzzles, Much Fun
    By A11OBEH2ZCVAHX on 2008-03-10
Not knowing much about the Nintendo DS that my wife recently purchased me, I decided to give this game a try since the young lady at the game store recommended it. Having played about half way through the game now, I believe this is one great game. The story line is interesting and the game offers one puzzle after another for you to solve. The puzzles themselves range from easy to hard.

Overall I do recommend this guy if you have a job like mine and can sit and think for a while. This is not a shooter game so most of your time is not walking around the town or even looking for that many clues but its about the puzzles. Be prepared to think.

  • Great game, but too short and no replay value
    By A3A4DVQATBE846 on 2008-05-12
Being located in the UK, I bought this game when it came out but had to wait until a friend of mine was visiting me to be able to actually receive it. So I got it last week.

It's a really great concept and the animated sections are fantastic - they look like anime - but it was too short and seems to abruptly speed up and then end. The gameplay at first is very slow and it feels like it will be a really long (but highly enjoyable game). At one point I was estimating that there might be 300 puzzles overall in the game, based on how many I had done so far and how far I had gotten in the main game objective. But suddenly nearly all of the ten Mysteries were marked "Solved" and I realised I was nearly at the end! There are a total of 100 storyline puzzles, 20 additional "hidden" puzzles, and 15 puzzles for completing special objectives (5 categories with 3 puzzles each). I have done all of the storyline puzzles, 18 of the 20 hidden puzzles (can't find the other two), and unlocked 3 of the special objective categories and completed the 9 puzzles there...all in less than 9 hours of gameplay. If I'd known it would be that short I'd have probably waited until the price dropped. I'm hoping that the sequel will be much longer.

I'm not that interested in replaying it, as I've already done all the puzzles and they wouldn't be challenging. I'd be very pleasantly surprised if the puzzles were different the second time around but I really doubt that they'd do that.

  • Game of the Year contender
    By AS4IDWJG50SE4 on 2008-02-20
Just a quick summary for anybody who isn't already convinced that this is a "must own" game for the DS. Great story, great presentation (there are even video clips with excellent voice acting), nice and stylized graphic feel that sets the mood perfectly, and even a feature I have never seen in a game before - a story recap when you resume from a save game, so you remember where you were (great if you save, then pick it up a couple weeks later).

And of course, the puzzles are incredibly fun and challenging. All of these things combined make for an absolutely top notch game, one which I hope to see at least nominated for a GotY award.

  • It was great while it lasted!
    By A1UL52ID7VBJHR on 2008-02-25
I enjoyed the puzzles and found them to be just about the right level of difficulty (for an adult), maybe a little on the easy side. The story was cute and I felt like I was wandering around a small European village. I would agree that the music gets a little repetitive at times.

I'm bummed that I finished it already, but look forward to the downloads and the next version. When's it coming?

  • Loved it but wanted a little more....
    By A1JB2E6JGEUYHN on 2008-03-03
Great art and characters, but I would have liked for the game to last longer and for the puzzles to be more challenging. On the plus side,it is a game that my sons (ages 5 and 7) and I could sit down and work on together, trading turns on puzzles.

  • Too easy??
    By A1IDYDWBSOH764 on 2008-03-04
I must be a moron. After reading some of these reviews of people saying this game was too easy....there were quite a few puzzles that I could not figure out (being adult it's not easy to admit). Although I have to agree with those who said it could have been longer. Between my husband and I, I reached the end of the game the day after I got it. But it does give you the option to return to the game and solve the puzzles you didn't finish or find any puzzles you may have missed.

It's got a great story, and the mystery you're trying to solve while doing the puzzles is great too. I had an idea of what the outcome would be not long before I got to the end, but not knowing what kind of puzzle will come next made it fun.

  • Best DS Game Out There!
    By A3KHXRQ9US8BMD on 2008-03-23
I just bought this for my 10 year old daughter for our long Spring Break car ride. She has quite a few ds games, but since getting Pokemon Diamond for Christmas she has steadfastly refused to play any other game... till now. I love this game because it's a series of brain-teasing puzzles set in a lush backdrop of beautiful graphics and engaging characters. She loves it and has barely been able to put it down since getting it. She works on each puzzle herself, but when getting stuck (very stuck, that is) she'll ask for my help or dad's. It's fun for us to figure these puzzles out too! As an added bonus, you can download new puzzles each week directly to the ds via the WiFi.

  • A game for older adults
    By AV44I4DL07WDJ on 2008-05-24
My son gave me a DS for Christmas '07. I have bought several brain games and love them all. But I enjoyed this one the best. I am 49 years young, and enjoyed the puzzles and the stories. Some of the puzzles seem simple enough-until you try to solve them. Excellent game-would recommend this to everyone!

  • Layton is worth it!
    By A1G5M2J2HKAUCD on 2008-05-31
I thoroughly enjoyed this puzzle game; some pros and cons below.

    Pros
    1) The cut scenes are amazing! You can hardly believe that you're watching this little cartoon on a hand-held gaming system.
    2) The puzzles are fun, and become more challenging as you progress. Even if you're stuck, it's never impossible to solve a problem since the Hints are usually enough to help. It might take time, but you'll get it eventually.
    3) The story and characters are engaging, and it's never too hard to figure out what you need to do next.

    Cons
    1) I wasn't able to find all of the puzzles in the game, which is important for some of the mini-quests. I started a new game and was still unable to find all the puzzles.
    2) Sometimes the hints aren't helpful at all, so you've used up your hint coins for nothing.
    3) Some of the puzzles were kind of ridiculous in the technicality of the language. For example, one question is "What is the last letter of the alphabet? Hint: It's not Z." It's pretty obvious that the answer is 'T', but that's not really a puzzle in my mind so much as a trick question.

Overall, I enjoyed the game, and I would recommend it to anyone who likes solving puzzles.

  • A pleasant diversion if you like Zelda's puzzles but hate the battles
    By A108Z49RERJK4O on 2008-06-20
I'm a 40-something who's always liked the Zelda-type RPG games for the puzzles but who's always hated the monster-battles and the fact that you couldn't save at any time you liked, so you would always get thrown back to a point well back if you ran out of lives before you won a given monster battle, so you'd have to repeat previous stages again and again until you beat the monster. I don't see the point of that ridiculous & repetitive cheese-chasing. I buy games for relaxation and some mental workout challenge, not frustration. I get enough frustration at work -- and at least there I get PAID for it.

That's why I liked this game so much. There wasn't any time pressure, you could save & stop at any point you liked, and most of the puzzles were challenging enough to be interesting.

I took off a star for a few reasons:
    1. The 'back-story' games, like building up the stuff in the Inn rooms, or creating a painting from the scraps you were awarded, seemed pointless.
    2. You couldn't get an answer to any puzzles that truly stumped you.
    3. In 2 puzzles, I had a definitively correct answer but since it wasn't THE correct answer I had to keep trying again and again to figure out what the game wanted me to say. (Case in point: The Tile puzzle.)
    4. And, most annoying: I discovered that you should never ever ever go back thru the tower door once you've gone thru the first time. If you do, you'll get stuck in the unstoppable little mini-movie that begins once you choose to enter the doors, and doesn't end until all the credits have s-l-o-w-l-y crawled off the screen. (Well, you can just shut off the DS, but if you've solved extra puzzles in the meantime, your progress would be lost if you did.)

Nice little plus that you can download extra free puzzles weekly if you have Wireless Broadband in your home. I have a secure network but just plugged in the WEP key and now can download new puzzles.

Solved the game in about 17 hours, but have spent a few extra hours to solve the additional download puzzles.

I got what I wanted from it - relaxation, some mental challenge, and a pleasant diversion. What else could you do that would give you 17+ hours of that for just $29?

Before i get started i want to tell everyone that im 23 yr female and im new to Nintendo DS so i dont know alot about games and because the prices are high on some, i completely rely on customer reviews before i spend the money on a game.I bought this game because i wanted to get a game that would keep me intrested. I can say i was surprised!!! this game is great! im so glad i bought it. The puzzles are great, the story line keeps you guessing and wanting more, I'm really enjoying it. The best part is when im stuck on a puzzle I'll ask a family member or a friend to take a crack at and we end up working it out together. Its a great way to get others involved! my friends who have Nintendo DS never would of thought of buying this game because they figured it would be just another puzzle game. I have to litterally take "Professor Layton and The Curious Village" from them! This game is for all ages and i highly reccommend this game for everyone. It really is a must have! im so glad i took everyones advice here and bought this game, ive had so much fun with it! i hope they come out with a sequal or something like it. This game is quite possibly the most fun I have had with my DS yet!
The story is fun and exciting to unfold but the puzzles make this an absolute joy to play. Many of them are brainteasers that we still see today in chain e-mails. And others (at least to me) are brand new. Some easy, some extremely difficult. This game can be played by kids and adults alike. If you like things that challenge you to think outside of the box, then this is the game for you

I got this as a gift from my non-video gaming boyfriend. After playing for about 10 minutes even he was hooked. This game has a wide variety of puzzles and brain teasers and I found myself having trouble putting it down. There was a big part of me that wanted to bring my DS along to work so that I could play some more. Overall a great game, even for people who aren't usually into video games.

Professor Layton and the Curious Village is an extremely addictive game. The storyline, characters, interaction, and most importantly the puzzles are all astounding. The puzzles range from easy to difficult depending on the player but with such an interesting story to fall back on, I can assure that all gamers who enjoy puzzles would have a blast with this one. The original Japanese versions already have a second game out with a third on its way. I can't wait for the second English version to come out!

I agree with everyone that says this is addictive! It really is! I couldn't put it down. Hours went by and I didn't even realize. Once you finish all the puzzles, you can get a weekly puzzle through wi-fi. I don't have fast internet, though. I wonder how long they will be doing that. Most of the puzzles aren't really ones you would do again because it's only the same answer/method. I don't know how fun this will be for me later. It was great, though.

I highly recommend that you wait if you have important things to do, because you'll find some reason to blow everything off! Very bad! Now I have to go do last minute homework!
