Former cell phone salesman and now Britians Got Talent winner Paul Potts has spent most of his life feeling insignificant and bullied, but says that his voice was always his one true friend, a voice that Simon Cowell calls simply magical.

Britain's Got Talent winner Paul Potts has spent most of his life feeling 'insignificant'. Bullied at school for being 'different', he realized growing up that he had one true friend and that was his voice. Singing was his escape. He was able to lose himself in his own little world - the vicious words of his tormentors replaced by hauntingly beautiful lyrics and melodies that lifted his heart and spirit. It was a love, a passion, a lifeline that would follow Paul into adulthood and help him through many more periods of adversity.

Though it's fair to say that when Paul strolled awkwardly - almost apologetically - onto the Cardiff stage for his first Britain’s Got Talent audition a week before that final, in his now infamous £35 Tesco suit, and announced to Simon and fellow judges Amanda Holden and Piers Morgan that he was going to sing opera, they never thought for one minute they were looking at their winner. Until he opened his mouth and started to sing.

  • Bewitched and bewildered

    By A3HL0SLK7YPG6K on 2007-09-20
I dunno what it is about this guy. I'm 5 decades old, been singing in vocal ensembles that perform challenging music for more than 30 years, been around loads of wonderful, highly trained operatic voices and I agree with many of the criticisms written elsewhere of this album (the brit version at any rate; not many reviews of the US version so far, too early).

I agree there are some production issues on this CD; I agree the guy has some technical issues that should be addressed as he matures as an artist. He can be a little thin & forced, esp in the high register. There are a few pitch problems, again mostly up high. I prefer his Italian to his English -- I think his English diction is a little odd actually. And given the rush to production, coming on the heels of a personal whirlwind, I can't help thinking the pressure and the tiredness had some effect on the finished product.

And yet, and yet -- what is this "hair standing up on the back of the neck" thing?

From his throat to my autonomic nervous system, without requiring a pass through the brain. It is an amazing gift that this man has, to elicit such a profound emotional reaction in the listener. The Nella Fantasia is just heartbreakingly lovely. The last note on "Music of the Night" is absolutely beautifully rendered. I also liked the Cavatina a good deal.

I can (and do) greatly admire the recordings of many more technically perfect singers. My brain tells me I should naturally prefer listening to those recordings. My gut just tells me to keep this one on the CD player and hit the replay button again....

  • New talent ---Paul Potts --Spine Tingling Joy

    By AUDF1WDO1FNQH on 2007-09-18
Some say only a few will buy this CD for the sentimental story of an overnight sensation from Simon Cowell's British talent show. Some hardcore opera snobs may pass, sighting technical imperfections; after all this CD was put together and released in the UK in a record-breaking 3-4 weeks to capitalize on the show's success. Others may pass, saying that they don't like opera.

I say to everyone-- get this album simply for sheer listening pleasure. There are so many moments of pure spine tingling joy here to miss for the sake of hyper-critical nit-picking. A voice imbued, even polished from life, filled with emotion and, yes, charged with physical athleticism- as demonstrated by set of lungs that can hold such notes to infinity and in perfect pitch-- is a rarity not to be missed.

Each time after reading some of the few negative reactions to Paul Potts, I go back for a listen, admittedly expecting to be disappointed, at least a little, and, each time, I am transported, by the hauntingly beautiful vocals and pure emotion captured here; emotion transmitted directly to one's heart and soul through an, as yet, undiscovered seventh sense. Technically "superior" singers can only hope for this intense, hardwired connection, whereas Paul natural ability is blessed with it is spades.

In the end, it finally dawned on me how ridiculous it is to look for third party validation for feelings that are so inexplicable, but yet so vitally undeniable. Enjoy this one folks and never mind the critics. No rules, just sublime listening pleasure. This is a fantastic debut album, with quite a variety. Hopefully the first in a long line of future recordings.

  • Breathtakingly beautiful

    By A1KPKO4DHPMCS4 on 2007-09-20
I first heard of Paul Potts when I was given a You Tube link. I am completely unfamiliar with this type of music. I thought I was losing my mind when chills danced up my spine and tears came to my eyes as he sang. It was only after reading online that I realized Paul's voice has the same effect on many people.

The CD came today...I have no idea what he is saying, who else has sang the most of the songs....I just know is voice is breathtakingly beautiful. I am amazed that I bought anything having to do with opera...and that I did is a testament to Paul.

And in response to something he said in one of his videos...Yes, Paul, you are someone. Someone magnificent!

  • Sing Opera? Then do it!

    By A3C5RD8Q9M14LC on 2007-10-31
Let me preface my review with the statement that I like Paul Potts. He has a wonderful instrument, albeit in need of some further training. However, it is strong and clear and that overcomes many technical shortcomings.

However, my lower grading is because of the nature of the album itself.

First, it is extremely obvious that this CD was produced as a "strike while the iron is hot" response to Mr. Potts' amazing impact on the listening public. Technically, it is a mishmash of poor mixing, overly loud orchestration and arrangements that sound like the vocal and orchestral arrangers weren't even in the same town, much less same room. It appears that their marching orders were to get the CD out there on the streets, quick, before the public forgets him.

Second, the power in Mr. Potts' voice is his tour de force. With the skimpy recording techniques used and lack of response tuning, they have taken most of his best completely out, to the extent that he sounds thin in many places.

Third; I must assign to whomever picked the music: I can recall Paul, almost timidly, announcing that he was there "to sing opera" in response to Judge Amanda's question. Then, Paul, why not do it? Aside from Nessun Dorma, played on every PC from here to Katmandu, there was not another aria on the album! The other music, although lovely, was what one normally finds as the; "Look, I can sing pop, too!" on operatic sampler albums. One, maybe two, numbers, though, not the entire CD! Was he trying to channel Il Divo and Josh Groban, or actually trying to sing opera?

Hopefully, Mr. Potts is not a flash in the pan, but will continue his studies and exercise his naturally lovely voice on opera stages and in recording studios for years to come. But, when presented with a chance like this, I do not think the producers of the CD gave him the vehicle he deserves.

  • Paul Potts is a breath of fresh air!

    By A39X7OTJTQV4CA on 2007-09-30
I accidentally ran into Paul Pott's audition piece "Nessun Dorma" in youtube today and I was just blown away. I really didn't care for his job (which I later learned was a phone salesman). Most of his detractors lend his success from his "rags to riches" story which millions find adorable. I disagree. He certainly has the voice; a kind of raw talent that will improve in years to come. However, that is not his crowd draw. There is something about his singing that reaches into your soul; a visceral experience that I haven't heard even from Pavarotti himself (and I have heard tenors all my life). I find it embarassing that I was actually moved to tears when I heard him sing. There is a human quality in his voice, something that is absent in technically skilled tenors; he shows you that it's okay not to be perfect; that imperfection can sometimes be a good thing. His tracks are easy to listen to and his high notes are right on pitch. He is a lighter tenor than Luciano Pavarotti or Placido Domingo, but he renders his belt notes with the ease of a pro. He truly is a diamond in the rough; a breath of fresh air in a world of noise disguised as music.

  • Here For The Rest Of Us.
    By A3SHQXNOPZBJH on 2007-11-01
Sometimes I think people like Paul Potts enter the collective psyche of the world to remind us that there is beauty in we human beings, even though a very troubled world leads us to believe the opposite. This humble man with the voice of an angel made me, a grown man who NEVER cries, weep like a baby. I saw his performance on Britian's Got Talent and was completely overcome. He's here for a reason, and we should all bathe in his humility and allow it to cleanse us the divisions and cynicism to which we often succumb.

Paul Potts is also an example to all those who think they are "insignifant" (as he once did) that they have value. A remarkable man with a stupendous gift!

  • Suspended Belief!
    By A3AFMAIKYAB814 on 2007-09-21
Since I received this CD on a pre-sale from the UK, I am still staggering in unbelief at how beautiful this brit's voice is and what it does to my mood when I listen to this music..I am utterly tranported every time I hit play on my CD player. The human race has been blessed by this angelic music, brought to us as a preview of heaven itself.

    Recommendation: BUY!!!!!

  • This CD Will Not Disappoint
    By A2B9VACNXDTYOH on 2007-09-18
I received my Import CD after following the story of Paul Potts for over 6 weeks. Although this CD was put together in less than a month after Paul Potts won the Britain's Got Talent competition it is well done. I seldom find an album worth listening to every song. This CD is different.

My favorite tracks are Nessun Dorma, Time To Say Goodbye, Caruso, Nella Fantasia, and Cavatina to name a few. I could have easily named them all. Music of the Night was another wonderful track. With the accompaniment of the London Symphony Orchestra (most songs), Paul's voice will penetrate your heart and rest in your soul.

This is not an album to use as background music, but rather to sit in an easy chair or recliner with your favorite beverage and prepare to travel to a place where the mundane activities of daily life will not matter, where you will be lifted up and set free.

The import CD has minor technical flaws but they were easy to overlook with the overall quality of this work. If you like classical, opera crossover music you will appreciate this album. If you have never listened to this type of music before then it is time to give it "One Chance" and join Paul Potts on his "bus journey to Never-Never-Land".

The domestic version of the album includes two bonus tracks, O Holy Night and Silent Night. I am looking forward to Paul's next album and seeing him perform live in concert, and in an opera if the opportunity exists.

  • Pure pleasure
    By A1AI1F7YHQ747J on 2007-09-22
I loved and sobbed over the Cinderalla story of his win on Brit TV, singing Nessun Dorma, but speculated that he might be a "one hit wonder." Now I am listening to his CD and enjoying every bit of it. Lovely voice with great and sincere emotion. Go away, scoffers and doubters. Paul Potts is a genuine treasure.

  • Stunning
    By ADVLRJS633OTD on 2007-10-06
I appreciate the range of voice this singer can capture. The range of voice, especially in the high register, is critical. Paul Potts has a divine vocal instrument and this is an especially good recording. This young man is deserving and will go places. His glorious voice has such deep emotion. You know he feels what he's singing. This man will be the next great "pop" opera star! We lost Pavarotti but now we have Paul. Bravo.

    Highly recommended.

  • What a lovely gift is Paul Potts!!
    By AW62KVPEC8KYM on 2007-09-28
I, like many, first heard of Paul Potts from a link a friend sent from 'Brittain's Got Talent'. Oh the look on the judges faces when this unassuming man said he was there to sing opera . . . but how those looks changed!!

I was sobbing watching the clip - yes, because of the touching 'story' of Paul Potts (mobile phone salesman makes good) but moreso because HIS VOICE quite effortlessly moved me to tears. I know very little (nothing) about opera but I know what I like . . . and I LOVE this man's voice.

Thank you, Paul Potts for taking the chance on yourself - with the flip of that coin - as you have made such a lovely difference in my life & surely others as well.

    God bless . . .

  • This is art
    By AU2YHZEMA41V7 on 2007-10-06
Is this album Paul's one chance, as he says, or is it ours? I rarely have any interest in anything that's churned out for popular consumption. At the same time I would never put any restrictions on where or how a higher form of communication may filter down into this life. It can come from any place at any time. In this case I have had to wonder, Am I making this up? Am I dreaming this? And perhaps the answer is yes, because Paul seems to be the part of the collective dream that we have given as a gift to ourselves. As a popular artist, Paul has no peers in my opinion. After hearing him, other singers sound flat and one-dimensional to me. As a tenor he can't really be compared to others. His voice lacks the formal polish but it has a timeless quality that puts him in a class of his own. He has had little formal training; he worked in a retail store; he is not technically perfect. It doesn't seem possible that an unknown person who had never been in a recording studio was able to do all he had to do to deliver such an impressive debut album - including figuring out how he would handle all the arrangements, singing along with the London Symphony Orchestra, learning some Spanish to go along with the Italian and English pieces, and ultimately putting his own signature on this music. It just wasn't possible, was it? And yet he did it. Paul managed to bring fresh, compelling interpretations to a couple of songs that had never interested me before. When it comes to Everybody Hurts and Caruso I have no words. What you hear is extreme passion and commitment conveyed by a voice that just wraps itself around each note and phrase. The sweetness in his voice is astounding. Yet there is such power and strength at the same time. This natural balance is what makes his voice so appealing. Even at high volume the voice retains its tenderness and feels as if it is sung directly into your heart from another place that you know so well. So he does rate up there with the greats because of the emotional content of his delivery and the sheer beauty of his voice. The voice itself tells a story. It hardly even matters what he's singing. You know you've tuned into a higher frequency of sound without words, beauty without form, understanding without explanation. This is art.

  • Get with it!
    By A2D6WTK9Y52IJK on 2007-09-25
I watched Paul Potts from the beginning (before he won the BGT.) From the first I, an opera buff who has raised an operatic singer, and who has owned all the albums of most of the greatest tenors (including an original Caruso on a one sided 78) was moved by Paul Potts and his voice as by few others.

I am sure that there are some problems with some of his technique and pitch. but.... HE MOVES ME !!! Not since Mario Lanza was panned for a lack of projection have I seen such nonsense about a singer. This guy from Wales has it and a lot of techies need to get with it.

    God Bless

  • Paul Potts' Debut CD
    By A3N9BCWGVI56G9 on 2007-09-28
Paul Potts was in a studio recording "One Chance" exactly one week after winning Britain's Got Talent (with a little trip to the US in between to appear on The Today Show!). The speed with which it was produced might show in a few glitches -- the orchestra backing is too loud in some places. But I am grateful that Paul didn't wait to put out a perfectly polished CD, for I was eager to be able to hear him sing without being tethered to my computer.

"One Chance" is an excellent sampler that demonstrates Paul's impressive vocal and interpretive range. After listening to it for more than two months, I still get chills at some passages in Caruso and Music of the Night; Cavatina still melts my heart entirely. The "money" note in O Holy Night is a stunner. But knowing that the CD was recorded nearly three months ago and having frequent evidence in his live performances of his amazing progress since, I am once more desperately waiting for the chance to purchase Paul's NEXT CD.

  • A clear voice -
    By A3AFCZTWL5VNNR on 2007-10-06
This is a beautifully sung CD - Paul Potts is a wonderful find - I have seen the YouTube where Potts comes onstage of Britain's Got Talent, and the judges look at him almost with disdain, only to be shocked when this clear tone comes out of his mouth - Try to look it up - it is awesome!
Potts proves you can't tell a book by its cover.
This is one that stays in my car to hear every day -
    Excellent Bravissimo!

  • Technical details be damned!
    By AOJLUROVBQZDZ on 2007-10-27
Potts is essentially untrained, unpolished, inexperienced in performance under pressure, obviously somewhat tired and emotionally drained and rushed into a fast recording session to meet marketing demands to get the product out while he's "hot." (A really serious recording session would have taken a couple of weeks, at the least.)

And who cares? I've read both the Brit and US reviews. Most have it right. This is a man with so much HEART it spills over into ours. I, too, had a fifty year singing career professionally. I was good, more than good enough to work steadily. But I don't know that I never touched so many hearts, made so many thrill, caused so many tears to blossom on cheeks as has this young guy in one or two performances. Bravissimo! say's I. And I hope that he gets both a high quality agent and vocal teacher who can lead him into the greatness he deserves and prevent the excesses which happens far too often in the music business aimed only at profit.

Paul Potts is best of us, one who dreams and KNOWS he dreams. This is what greatness is created from. Not only greatness for this individual, bless him, but greatness for the rest of us who watch as a dream came true and are shown that it is POSSIBLE!!! (I'm over 70 and Potts has got me singing again, something I thought I'd left behind!. It feels WONDERFUL!!!)

His performances were nothing less than magic and he drew millions into his dream, showed us that we truly can touch the stars if we hang on to that dream.

As for those critics and detractors who cannot get out of their heads and pick away at unimportant details, the ones who have long ago lost their own ability to dream, I can only feel horrible pity for them. They long ago disconnected from their hearts to hide their own hurts and disappointments.

SING ON, Paul! I look forward to many more heart ringing performances from you. The Queen is going to be blessed when you sing for her. As you are blessed and have blessed all of us.

I play it over and over and it's simply magical listening to a voice that can make you cry and give you goosebumps on the same album. Beautiful man. Beautiful voice.

  • Beautiful Music
    By A1HMSC6WTLSFB4 on 2007-09-24
I usually don't listen to classical or opera- however I do browse Amazon.com for top selling CD's because I like all kinds of music. I was curious when I saw that "One Chance" kept moving up the best seller list- which led me to U Tube.

I actually received this CD for my birthday ( after prompting & praising)-
I have listened to it at least 10 times since Sept 21st- all of the reviews are accurate - his voice is a gift from God- & his story is inspiring- if you enjoy beautiful music you must buy this CD- you won't be disappointed.

  • Paul Potts Sings With A Reflective, Inner, Spirit!
    By AX8JRFMSPBYXD on 2007-10-19
As an accomplished pianist, teacher, author, crtic and traditionalist of the classical music scene, my first thought about this young man was; does he really feel that he can position himself to the likes of Ben Hepner, Villazon and list goes on and on.
After seriously listening to every note he sang on this CD "ONE CHANCE", I realised that he doesn't need to compete because the position he holds is his own. His voice is unique! In 'Nessum Dorma', the power and dramatic depth is quite subdued, however the singing does have an innate passion, a worthy concept of style and is definitely heartfelt. The lower register is weak but with work it will gain the necessary freedom and expand in range for him. The long, last phrase in 'Time To Say Goodbye' sung in the higher register, was really quite beautiful. Paul impressively opens up and in one long breath poetically delivers a long, lingering line providing us with a reflective finale. In 'Everyone Hurts' the voice tightens and when singing in the upper register the expected expansive drama and power is once again missing. The moment 'Caruso' begins Potts delivers what I was desparately looking for, a performance filled with a sense of command, expansive power and musical ownership! Everything is there, he adhered to the letter of the score, while reflecting its spirit. There wasn't a hint of becoming intraverted, the breathing was controlled and the overall effect was tasteful and beautiful. 'My Way' complimented his voice and was sung with inner warmth. 'Cavatina' brought me to tears, the singing had the purity and lyricism of a great lyric tenor. The nuances were heartfelt and the entire song came across like one long seamless phrase. Pott's is in his element in 'Music Of The Night', why did he not appear as the phantom in 'Phantom Of The Opera' during its decades on Broadway?! He is pristine throughout and the last deadly phrase sung in a major key against the orchestra playing in a minor key slipped away into eternity leaving a trail of lost love and lament.
Pott's voice has many wonderful qualities, there were moments that reflected the rare wonders of IL DIVO.
Paul Potts has a pleasurable musicality, and I feel that a wonderful musical journey lies ahead of him. The voice is still in the proccess of defining itself and searching for placement, however the time will come for Paul to indeed make his musical journey one that everyone will want to follow and cherish!

  • I hate opera
    By A2GM8WBCVAEGU7 on 2007-09-25
I hate opera! Yet I watched every episode of Britain's Got Talent (i have a family who send me dvds from English TV every week). I watched Paul Potts and his weekly climb to fame. To be quite honest he'd already won when the finalists were announced. I was blown away with his story and his voice. I have never been a fan of opera, yet I recognised the song Nessun Dorma that he sang. It was awesome as this was a song that was huge at the dance clubs a while ago which Donna Summer covered.
Potts version is a sobering, chilling version that inspired me to wait for this album to come out. This is not my norm for music, yet may I say thanks to Paul Potts you have helped me open my mind to other music other than Muse, Killers etc.
I have read other reviews and yet while experts in your field have bitched about your pitch, they still have given your album 5 stars, so obviously they knew it was good too. So maybe your fame was due, sad to the passing of the great Pavorotti. Not that you're his replacement, but there's a sort of passing of the torch.
This is an album that's always going to be in my CD changer and will give me pleasure for years to come. Especially when I want to get with my emotional side and shed a tear or so!
    DOUGH!

  • ...and I thought I didn't even like opera
    By AXA2ZO7Q33VCO on 2007-09-25
I love music, but I never was one who gave opera much attention. I think my eyebrow went up too when Paul Potts stepped up to the microphone and said he was going to sing opera on his audition for Britain's Got Talent. I'm with Simon Cowell...I never expected what I heard next. Now, I have the CD and I listen to it every day. I think what Paul Potts is doing for operatic singing is similar to what Danica Patrick is doing for IndyCar racing. He's brining back some of the old fans and he's putting new butts in the seats. One Chance (With Bonus Tracks)

  • Who Would Have Thought......?
    By ANIS8WCMCK12F on 2007-10-01
I first discovered Paul in a YouTube link, and became mesmerized. I've never cared for opera, but this guy is so "common" and "everyman" that his appeal is unavoidable. For Simon Cowell to speak so positively (which he seldom does) about an artist said it all for me. Paul is not professionally trained, but he sings with emotion, commitment, and integrity. A perfect voice? No, but a very good one that will only get better with time. I still don't care for opera, but I have a new respect for it; have also "discovered" Pavarotti for myself, and the Three Tenors. In summary, he is a very bright talent who will only get better. And, even if he doesn't, he's brought attention to an art-form that doesn't often get attention from those outside the operatic afficionados.

  • REM in Italian....they call this opera now???
    By A3V9NG6BXQ59S6 on 2007-12-28
I don't see how this is opera. There is one aria on this album. One. Paul Potts has no technique and an unappealing, quavering voice. I guess it's testament to the fantastic power of classical singing that this man (i hesitate to say singer) has impressed the public so much with his mediocrity. The only positive thing i can see coming of this plastic album of muzak is that people will discover real singers by looking beyond the world of popera. And anyone coming out with the arguement "he brings opera to the masses, blah blah blah" he doesn't; he brings redundantly translated REM songs and other crappy granny-pleasing numbers to a somewhat deluded public. Opera fans do not CARE if it is massively popular or not. It has kept going with a loyal support base through the whole of the 20th Century, and it isn't going away any time soon. Opera is not dying. What kills the artform is the billing of this rubbish as opera. And how quickly people forget. The 1990 Three Tenors concert was viewed by roughly a third of the worlds population. The late Pavarotti and Domingo have, in recent times performed to sell out arena and stadium audiences. Andrea Bocelli (don't like him, but at least he doesn't pretend My Way is an aria) is one of the biggest selling artists in the world. THEY are the ones who first took opera outside the house and concert hall.
I don't understand this whole thing about Paul Potts exhibiting such emotion. He doesn't. Pavarotti was more emotive. He just stands there looking and sounding nervous, and making unpleasant tones. What angers me most of all is that some loser who did nothing about developing his voice or career can strike it lucky on a cheap television talent show and go on to make millions, when real artists with integrity, after many dollars spent on years of training, struggle to make a career. This album isn't just an insult to opera and classical singers, its plastic music and plastic singer are an insult to all music. People go on about the story and how touching it is. It isn't. He is a lazy, talentless bastard who didn't lift a finger to try to achieve anything. And anyone who wants to bag out my knowledge of music, i have two degrees in the subject and am an accomplished (and financially secure) singer. I believe i know more that anyone who paid good money for this album, you can be assured. So unless you have equal or greater credentials, don't even bother. I downloaded a few of the tracks off limewire to see what the fuss was about, so i HAVE listened to it. In closing, Paul Potts is a marketing tool. The people behind this "album" don't care about music. They have succeeded in a cynically undertaken ploy to take your money. If you enjoy the CD, that is fine. I hope you have a happy and long life. I am well aware i will probably be labelled all sorts of things, such as arrogant and elitist. Well, if that's what loathing this poor excuse for music makes me, then i must be an arrogant elistist. By the way, the only aria included, Nessun Dorma, just so happens to be the most cliched aria there is. Opera? Hmmpf. (Sorry, i may have rambled a little. Call it stream of consciousness. More coherent than Ulysses, i hope).

  • Encore! Encore!
    By A1XMBK0ES025LF on 2007-09-23
I simply can't add anything to all of the wonderful reviews on this site, except to concur and say Paul Potts should do even greater things, in time. This CD was created quickly to sell while popular opinion is high, but there is something so very special about his voice, and I truly hope that he is put on a genuine path to personal and professional growth and perfecting his talent, instead of just becoming a flash in the pan. I shall keep checking Amazon.com for more CD's from Mr. Potts. Thank you, Simon Cowell, and now, please take Paul Potts a few steps further.

I was really disappointed and annoyed to listen to this cd Paul Potts voice is good but it doesn't come close to any good opera singer like Pavarotti or Domingo his voice is not powerful enough and his pronunciation is just terrible if your are looking for a real opera cd buy a Pavarotti one if you are looking for elevator music, then this cd is for you

I'm going to jump on the Paul Potts bandwagon as well and throw my extra cents in. I feel this man has an exceptionally beautiful spirit and it totally comes through when he sings. I admit that I can hear that his voice is not perfect and I can see that true opera aficionados might poo poo him, however, he does have a beautiful voice and he affects my heart and being as much as the pros do. So I don't care what negative reviews there might be.

I do prefer the songs that are not in English as his voice seems to flow much better. There are two bonus Christmas songs, sung in English, and his accent really came through while singing them, which is not bad per se, but they didn't flow for me as smoothly as his songs in Italian and Spanish did. Still, all in all, I think the man has an incredible raw talent and my heart melts like butter when I hear him sing.

My only complaint, and it's nothing to do with Paul Potts, is that I'm getting tired of the same old songs being sung by crossover artists. I feel that this CD was rushed out and because Paul Potts became recognized through a Simon Cowell venue, it seems that Paul had to go through what seems to be a cookie cutter process in which all new crossover artists must sing the same songs. Il Divo, Andrea Bocelli, Opera Babes, Sarah Brightman, and even those incredible and amazing Three Tenors, have done these songs over and over. Seriously, if I have to hear one more cover of "You Lift Me Up" I'm going to scream. I think that they can come up with some new and equally beautiful songs to sing for a change, like "Send in the Clowns," say.

I feel that Paul Pott's voice is worthy of singing real opera arias and would love to hear more actual opera and less easy listening music from him as I feel it's more his forte. I hope Cowell gives him that chance.

I've been waiting for this CD ever since someone emailed me Paul Potts' audition on YouTube.

I don't care if purists say his voice isn't perfect, we all KNOW the guy was working in a warehouse last month. Give him a chance to get some more training. He moves us all to tears, though, and that cannot be taught.
