MONSTER 127659 2 Meter 700Hd High-Speed HDMI CablesxToo low to display
    (16 reviews)
Best Price: Too low to display
The bandwidth required to deliver HDMI’s ultra-high resolution audio and video places incredible demands on your digital A/V connections. Inferior cable construction, coupled with the high-speed and enormous amount of data transferred increases the potential for A/V systems to deliver degraded performance. With Monster HDMI 700HD, you’ll get all the performance you expect from your home theater system and achieve the optimum sound and picture your HDMI-enabled gear is designed to deliver. Heavy-duty internal dual-strain construction, durable gold-plated internal connector shielding, and corrosion resistant 24k gold contacts ensure that your investment will not only provide high-bandwidth for exceptional color and sound, but that it will be a durable, lasting investment in your home theater setup.

In a word - OVERPRICED By A2W9I628I6SE1U on 2007-11-02
I work for a company that manufactures equipment for the Broaband industry. One of our product lines are HDTV A/V cables. They are of comparable high quality to Monster cables; made to very exacting standards with premium materials. We sell them for profit at around $[...] -- and they are even 3 feet longer than the Monster version ( compared to the 1 meter size).
People need to realize that they are paying too much!
Sure, Monster makes a good cable, there is no denying that. Deserving of 5 star rating for what it is.
But it is NOT worth a what they are charging. Minus 3 stars.
Look at it this way. When you buy Monster cables, 30% of what you pay for is the cable, and the remaining 70% pays for the brand name and the hype that goes with it. (They must spend a ton of money in marketing and you pay for it)
Shop around. Read about it in online forums. There are junk cables out there so be cautious, but don't believe you have to pay an arm and a leg for a quality cable. HDMI is a digital format, just 1s and 0s. It will either work or it won't, and the "quality" of the cable will not make or break it.
Please see the product discussion below -- "HDMI 101".

Better than the cheap ones By A6PD14TNMAH85 on 2007-12-29
While I have read here and other places that there is no visible difference between cheap and better grade HDMI cables, my visual experience does not support that view. As soon as I switched from the HDMI cables that came from my satellite company to these, I noticed an immediate and somewhat dramatic improvement in color and clarity that was worth the price.
A total rip off. HDMI is HDMI...it is digital people!!! By A3VSHWB8AKYFF3 on 2008-01-01
As long as the cable works the image will be identical. You are just throwing money away if you buy a high end HDMI cable. Just buy one for $10 at an electronics store or for $5 online. You will gain absolutely no benefit from buying a a rediculously overpriced HDMI cable like this one.
Don't waste your money! By A1TWH1DT55FXBB on 2008-03-07
I got suckered in to buying this cable. There is no difference I can see in the reception when I use the HDMI cable that came with the TV!
It is a rip off By A1IFIP8W9A58ES on 2008-01-19
Before I purchased this cable I was using Philips HDMI cable from Sony Blue Ray to my Pioneer plasma TV and the picture was better than what I see now using Monster cable. Actually I am using the european version 750 HDMI. I would say that simply every claim you can read on the box is just not true. The picture is less sharp than my Philips HDMI and the collors are different, they seem to have a very slight green/yellow tint, sometimes visible mainly in reds. The contrast is not as good as what I achieved with Philips that was obviously much cheaper. Even though the picture isn't so much different from my original cable, when I'm watching a movie it feels like something is missing, so I keep adjusting my TV settings, but I seem not to get the desired result.
- Overpriced, but good quality
     By AY8U5RHFEWR7E on 2008-03-03
I purchased the Monster brand of HDMI cable, because the guys at Circuit City raved about the quality. Well, it is a well-made cable, and the Amazon vendor was much cheaper than the big stores (Circuit City, Best Buy, even Wal-Mart.) However, I did some research and purchased a Sony Playstation HDMI 1.3 cable which is just as good as Monster at about half the price. Furthermore, I just purchased a 10' off-brand HDMI cable from an Amazon vendor for $12, and it also works perfectly! So, save your money and don't feed the "Monster".
- Works well with 1080p

I am using this for HD DVD, picture and sound are flawless! Monster Cables are all I use in my home theater, worth every penny!
- Monster HDMI Cable

Saved and got more suitable size buying online instead of retail. Timely delivery. Would do again.
- Yes, it does make a difference !
     By A1WI303N9YC2EF on 2008-02-19
We bought this cable thinking it would not make a difference, however it did ! The DirecTV HD which was hooked up with a cheap $5 HDMI cable had some dropouts and blurring. That is all gone with this Monster HDMI cable. I recommend this product, it's worth the money !
- Great product

I am very happy with my purchase. Fast delivery and great product. This is the first time I bought Monster cables but they work great and are really sturdy.
- Works well
     By AYRDMFX7ZWLH4 on 2008-02-11
Pretty straightforward connecting the DVD player to my LCD Hi-def TV using this. Buying it in best-buy/circuit-city would've cost me thrice as much. Have used it for a month and get good DVD reception overall. No complaints.
- This is the one to buy
     By ANDG11Z51CDK9 on 2008-07-05
I bought 2 new HDTVs at a national chain. I bought two cables with the HDTVs. Needed 3 more (DVD players). Same cables, and saved a mountain of $$$$. Cables work great at 1080i and 1080p speeds! These are the cables to get and AMAZON is the place to get them. Cables work great!
- Monster 700HD HDMI cable
     By A3BLNNCSXOE1R4 on 2008-10-28
Excellent cable. Also bought the same length (1m) in the 1000HD. My set up is limited to 720p, but there is no discernable difference in the two cables. Both are excellent - producing noticeably more intense colors, better contrast, a sharper picture, and eliminating all pixelization. Ease of hook-up, as w/ all HDMI cables, is fantastic - I would highly recommend.
- Monstrously inflated price, not justified by functionality
     By ADLVFFE4VBT8 on 2008-11-15
Some salesperson insisted that I bought one of these "for the quality". "It's worth every penny" he said. "Try it and you will see" he said. So, I did, after making sure that the store was going to allow me to return it for a cash refund, no questions asked.
I took this super-expensive wire home, I replaced the existing free HDMI wire that came with the satellite receiver and was connecting it to the TV with the Monster and... I saw no difference. Then, I unplugged the five-dollar HDMI wire that connected my Blu-ray player to the TV and plugged the Monster in its place and... I saw no difference. I returned this item to the store and decided to keep using my super-cheap or free HDMI cables because there is absolutely no difference between a five-dollar wire or a cheap-looking free wire that comes with some device that you buy and this expensive cable.
HDMI is all-digital for both sound and picture. As such, it either works or it doesn't. There's really nothing in-between. If a claim is made that thd Monster is 'more reliable' or that it 'lasts longer', I can't see how such claim can be backed - does the fifty-dollar cable last 10 times longer than than the five-dollar cable? I've been using inexpensive HDMI cables for 1-2 years already and none of them has failed me yet. As for 'the looks', they are not important? I plug my cables in the back of things and, hopefully, I don't need to see them very often.
By the way, I don't challenge the claim of high quality for this cable. It looks well built. However, it is quality not needed and, in my view, not worth paying for. The way most of us use cables is: we plug them at the back of our electronic boxes and, if they work on day one they are likely to work in the exact same fashion on day 1000 because they are not going to be subjected to any physical or thermal stress and the materials used to build them are not degradable. While 'quality' was important for analog cables cable where a good quality cable make all the difference in the world, the digital wires either transmit the digits or they don't. If they do, they all work the same, the $1 HDMI cable gives you the exact same 'performance' the $100, gold-plated cable does.
The claims made that these expensive wires allow more Gigabytes of data to pass through may be true but they are irrelevant. The HDMI is a published standard and there is a minimum data throughput that must be supported. If it is, then the device is HDMI compliant. If some cable exceeds the specified throughput, it's nice but it's irrelevant because no electronic component that's HDMI compliant would attempt to push more bytes through the wire than the standard specifies because if they did, they'd violate the specs and would not sell very well. If your electronic component had an HDMI port that called for an HDMI cable that exceeded the HDMI published standards, then it would no longer be called an HDMI port but a proprietary, non-standard solution.
- Hey its a HDMI cable
     By A2I2SHKOWXZZFZ on 2008-02-09
Hey these cables work! Some people are mad they spent all the money on these cables, but if you did your research you would have known if it mattered what type of HDMI you need or if there was a difference. I have ALWAYS been impressed with Monster brand products. They are what you pay for...high quality. It does not mean these are better then a cheaper brand or version. These cables do exactly what they claim...deliver a high quality HD picture from your HD tuner or accessory.
