A must have for HTC phone owners! By A3RFKOIDCBMD13 on 2007-08-30
This is the first accessory I've bought for my phone (Cingular 8525) that I haven't been disappointed with. It works great, so much better than the ones that hang off the bottom begging to get bent/broken off. Plus it lets you charge your phone while listening, perfect for the car!
Reasonable price, I was a touch concerned that I wasn't buying it directly from Amazon but it arrived the *day after* I placed the order!
Almost 5-stars but not quite... By A16L4UJDUNUR2C on 2008-04-04
This would of been a 5 star item...
The PROS:
1) It supports 3.5mm stereo adapter for your own after market head/earphones.
2) It also supports a usb sync/power adapter so you can charge/sync while listening to your audio
This adapter just simply works; plug in a good pair of head/earphones and use TCPMP (adjust equalizer to your liking) and voila, instant MP3 player for your HTC device (HTCS621 for me). The audio quality is actually quite good and comparable to your iPod, PSP, ZUNE (2nd gen) and of course the iPhone. In fact, using the HTC device (with windows mobile and TCPMP), you can adjust the sound equalizer to truly bring out the best audio compared to ALL the devices listed above. With this device, it really makes the HTC device a true multimedia power house.
THE CONS:
NO way to SPEAK to your party when making voice calls. Audio gets piped thru to your headphones that are connected to the 3.5mm jack however outgoing voice cannot be heard by your party since there's NO MIC (obvious). SPEAKER PHONE DOES NOT WORK while this adapter is plugged in. Alternative is to use an external mic such as the HTC included mic/earphone but you cannot plug it in since the stock HTC mic/earphone plug orientation does not fit the mini-usb on the semson adapter. You are left to unplug the semson adapter to use your phone (for voice conversations). This is a slight problem and the other problem is that even though the adapter is quite small and portable, you could still lose it if you unplug it. Another "adapter" to carry along with your device unless you leave it plugged in all the time (which is still bulky even on the slim HTCS621).
The bottom line:
I was looking around for such a device for the longest time (ebay sold some really poor quality items). I gave this adapter a shot and it paid off.
The adapter is necessary if you wish to use higher quality head/earphones than the stock HTC included set while having an added benefit of an external power source while listening to audio. But if only HTC is smart enough to include a 3.5mm jack, there would be no need for this device!
My recommedation is to BUY IT. It's worth the $ and shipping costs. You won't regret it. Buy it either from SEMSON's own website (google semson usb 3.5mm adapter). It's $1 cheaper ($4.99) but you have to pay a $2.50 shipping fee.
Best Headphone Adapter Yet By A20LQMHNO6FFNW on 2007-11-21
I've tried several headphone adapters for my 8525 and so far, this one is the best. No problems with lose connections. It's surprisingly unobtrusive, even when sticking the phone on my pocket. It's a little smaller then it looks in the online pictures and it fits the size of the phone well. You can still get the stylus out with the adapter plugged in, but you have to unplug it to hit the soft reset pin hole. It also obscurs the IR port and the phone microphone, but those haven't been an issue for me.
Works with Sprint Mogul 3.35 By A2EQ598399EY4B on 2008-04-03
I am successfully using this adapter to connect a Sprint Mogul (with ROM version 3.35.651.2) to a stereo headset. However, there is a trick to it. I can consistently reproduce positive results when I unplug the 3.5mm minijack from the adapter, unplug the adapter from the device, begin playing music, plug in the adapter and then finally plug the minijack into the adapter.
Simply plugging everything together and going for it does not seem to work for me. Also, once everything is working correctly and I change input (from one internet radio station to another for instance), things stop working. Since this port is intended to be used with a microphone headset, my guess is that the device fails when it can't find the microphone on a regular stereo headset. I have duplicated failed and successful results with a 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter and with several different stereo headsets.
All that to say that it appears that this adapter is perfectly well constructed and works as advertised. Experienced difficulties might have more to do with the phone than with the adapter.
UPDATE: Other reviews here seem to lend credence to the idea that the lack of a mic on the headset is part of the culprit. For instance, see X. Gao's comments on B. Darling's post here:

Works as advertised; a little much, though By A2IO7BX206UNC3 on 2007-11-26
This product is a nice cheap accessory that does one thing and does it well. However, it does add quite a bit of bulk to your mobile device (8525 for me, but I assume the adapter will work with a Blackberry or Motorola phone, too), so it's not something you'll necessarily have attached all the time. My 8525 won't even fit in my leather case while the adapter is on. That said, it's still the best way to use a quality set of headphones with your phone and still keep it charging.
- Works well with HTC S710 (Vox)
     By A21KSXUEMM8DUY on 2007-12-13
This item works very well with my HTC S710 , but it's better ordering directly with Semson's : it's one dollar less and shipping is also less expensive...
- Adapter works well as advertised.
     By A1IVMKDJZ6NTUR on 2007-12-13
The adapter itself worked just fine, although for some reason my 1/4" to 3.5mm adapter got stuck in the 3.5mm port. Other reviewers didn't seem to have the same problem. Anyway, the multi-adapter is small enough to go with my XV6800, in addition to stereo sound and a reasonably low price. I'll order another one.
- Great Widget, but feels a little loose to me.
     By A2GCSF1O90IRHS on 2008-02-08
It works as advertised for the HTC Kaiser/AT&T Tilt. I frequently listen to Audio books on this phone and this is a must have if you want to use headphones for long periods without draining precious battery life. One caveat though, it does not fit snugly, it has a little bit of wobble to it and since it attaches directly to the bottom of the phone it can make using the phone while listening a little difficult. I need another one as I take the device from the car to the nightstand, and sometimes I forget to keep it attached, that truly sucks, if you leave it in the car and need it right before bed time. Really a great product all in all.
- Doesn't work with 3.35 (newest ROM update for Mogul)
     By A16F1NI30092UW on 2008-03-14
I've been using this little simple device for months and just updated to the newest 3.35 ROM on the Sprint Mogul and this device no longer works. Rather annoyed because I use it to connect to my AUX jack in my car. I tried it out with some headphones as well to make sure. If you don't want to update to the newest ROM, then its great though and works as advertised.
The earbuds/mic combo that come with the Mogul still work as weell btw, its just this 3.5mm jack. Very annoyed. Grrr! I'm not going to choose this over GPS and Rev A data speed methinks, but how am I going ot listen to tunes in my car now?
- The 8525/8925 are PHONES, too
     By A10A5VX1PKC7CY on 2008-06-09
Why is everyone giving this thing such glowing reviews, yet ignoring the fact that plugging this in disables the 8525/8925's usefulness as a TELEPHONE? I'm sending money to AT&T every month for the priviledge of running this device, so I'd like to be able to use it as a telephone. "You have to unplug this if you want to use it as a phone." Come on. That kind of negates its usefulness as a hands free device. If this little plug had a microphone in it (to make up for the microphone it mutes when its plugged in), it'd be a neat little device. Without it, its half-a'd.
- Very Small Item
     By AGMQMVO2LUDV7 on 2008-02-09
I was surprised just how small this item was when it came in. It is about only half the width of my HTC Tilt.
To be honest I have not used it yet. It was just one of those accessories I had to have just in case I ever had the need for it.
I like the dual plugs on the bottom that will allow you to listen to audio files, watch movies, etc and charge at the same time. The HTC Tilt is very hard on battery life with that big bright screen and small battery. I record class lectures and was concerned abut running out of battery before running out of lecture and this option will allow me to charge while I am listening to a recorded lecture without having to worry how much battery I had left.
For the price I figured it was worth it.
- perfect add-on for the tytn II tilt kaiser
     By A11K73W5T16NSP on 2008-02-10
Perfect add-on for the at&t tilt htc 8925 tytn II kaiser (could this thing have any more freakin' names??). Will enable you to plug your device into headphones or line-in to your stereo. Fits nicely.
- nifty adapter
     By A1CF42VTERRVM1 on 2008-03-25
Perfect solution for some of today's PDAs that use USB ports for audio output. You can keep the device attached to its power source while you connect it to standard external speakers or headphones.
- really nice, and good price
     By A1HB5TZEI0PKN1 on 2008-03-28
I does everything I wanted it too. One thing though, I was hoping there was a way to use the microphone on my tilt while I had it plugged in.
- Great for hooking up FM transmitter
     By A2ZQ9EKUDT5WQS on 2008-04-15
I bought this to connect my FM transmitter in my car to my AT&T Tilt to play music. It works great and I can still charge my phone as well.
- Just great .
     By A3EXOR171BWRFY on 2008-04-15
This 2 in 1 mini USB works best than others similar, it does not drop outs this one with the wire, works consistently wherever you carry on.
- Terrible Product
     By A1YD9IBQ42MR51 on 2008-04-17
A really terrible product. First time out of the bag, tried it on my expensive new Tilt and the thing gets stuck on my cell phone. I could not pull it off. Eventually it came off only after breaking off and leaving a small metallic sleeve inside the mini UBS port. I had to pull out the remainder with a set of pliers. Because I was so careful and patient, my mini USB port still works. I suggest the sellers test this product in their cell phones before they send them out to their customers. It's not even worth returning it.
- Works as Expected
     By A1NXII9CDL5SL1 on 2008-04-21
This item works as advertised. No problems or surprises.
Shipping was fast too.
- 2 in 1 mini USB adapter
     By ANTMZ5ZC0TLNZ on 2008-05-03
What awesome sound out of the AT&T Tilt phone with this adapter.
Not very high priced either. Locally cost would be triple what I payed online.
- Great product
     By A3ZQO1SIYL49E on 2008-05-21
I bought this adapter for my car, earbugs and plug in stereo speakers. I play music from my VX6900 through my car audio system, my earbugs and my stereo speakers at work, and this adapter also coverts my car audio and plut in stereo speakers into a speaker phone, and my earbugs into a headset. I would definitely recommend it.
- Works but clunky
     By A2Q8VIUKOQAYAP on 2008-06-02
I bought this for use with my ATT tilt. Thought I would charge the phone while I was playing music through the headphones. Didn't work out that way.
Pros:
Works as advertised and cheap.
Cons:
Can not use both the charger and the 1/8 jack at the same time with my charger.
If this device had pig tails it would get 5 stars.
- Going back for 2nds...
     By A36I6WGPPT6N0L on 2008-06-05
Would give it 5 stars, but it needed to be tweaked a bit to get a consistent signal on my ATT TilT. Since I can't use bluetooth headphones in flight, this is a "must have" for travel. I was very happy with the first one until my 2 year old snapped it while removing it from the phone :-(
- Nice little product
     By A3EP4YIS9W1LR1 on 2008-06-10
It provides a great value for the price. can plugin the pwer cord and the fm transmitter at the same time and hence makes life easier while listening to the internet radio.
- the adapter wobbles alot.
     By A18RD5SL787JF9 on 2008-06-12
its very wobbly, and I feel like it could easily break, as happened to this person: http://www.amazon.com/review/R9ZQLA7GLY1TV/ref=cm_cr_rdp_perm
I'm not saying I have a better solution, but just that it wobbles more than I'd like it to.
There's also a compatability problem with the newest mogul rom, as others have stated. There is a work-around though: simply start your music, plug in the adapter to the phone, and lastly plug in your headphones.
- Convenient headphone adaptor
     By A1J5N21BYXNUGU on 2008-07-03
The phone should really come with a headphone jack. That fact aside, this adaptor is a good way to have an analog stereo output, and a way to charge/link with a computer.
A good product.
