Best Price: $4.65

Performer and songwriter Mariah Carey has set April 15th as the in-store date for the most eagerly anticipated album of the year, E=MC². The 11th studio album of her career, E=MC² is the follow-up to The Emancipation Of Mimi, Mariah's worldwide 10 million selling #1 album, which generated three Grammy awards (including Best Contemporary R&B Album), 2 #1 singles and countless more industry honors during its 18-month stay on the charts. The first single from E=MC² is "Touch My Body," written and produced by Mariah Carey, C. "Tricky" Stewart, and The-Dream, and blasting out worldwide on February 12th. The video for "Touch My Body" was directed by feature filmmaker Brett Ratner - Internet, cable and network premieres for the video will be announced in the weeks ahead. In addition to C. "Tricky" Stewart and The-Dream, other guest producers joining Mariah on E=MC² will include Jermaine Dupri, DJ Toomp, Stargate, Will I Am, Bryan Michael Cox, Nate "Danjahandz" Hills and James Poyser.. E=MC² is executive produced by Mariah Carey and Antonio "LA" Reid, Chairman, Island Def Jam Music Group.

The Emancipation Of Mimi, released April 12, 2005, was an industry phenomenon for the mega-platinum award-winning superstar - Soundscan's biggest-selling album of the year, bringing total sales of Mariah's albums, singles and videos to more than 160 million worldwide, making her the most successful female recording artist in history. Mimi featured "We Belong Together" (winner of the Best Female R&B Vocal and Best R&B Song Grammys) and "Don't Forget About Us," Mariah's 16th and 17th #1 career singles respectively. They tied one of the most enduring chart records in Billboard Hot 100 history, Elvis Presley's 17 #1's. Mariah is now positioned as the only active recording artist in the 48 years of the Hot 100 (which began in 1958) with the potential to surpass the Beatles' all-time high of 20 #1 hits. "E=MC2" is another one for the record books. Songs from this album will grace radio waves deep into 2009.

In similar fashion to her unprecedented commercial comeback "The Emancipation of Mimi," 2005's highest-selling LP, Mariah Carey has crafted what both fans and casual listeners will enjoy - an album that plays like a greatest hits project, with nearly every selection having the makings of a killer hit single. Her songwriting is at its peak - deep, earthy, frisky and fun - much like Carey herself. That generation-defining voice has never sounded fuller of passion, vigor and purpose. The melodies are strong and instantly memorable, the songs perfectly sing-able even for those lacking Carey's luminous pipes.

The biggest surprise about "E=MC2" is that, aside from its being a consistently satisfying collection of unshakable pop melodies and inspiring ballads, it shares no obvious commonalities with other LPs in Carey's catalogue, including its predecessor. This may discourage those with set expectations, but further listens reveal increased treasures. This is a recording built to last.

Her lyrics are always self-effacing, but she raises the bar on "Side Effects" and the dignified closer "I Wish You Well." The former is dark and straightforward, detailing the pain of an emotionally crippling relationship with a sizzling rap from mega-talented Young Jeezy.

The latter, meanwhile, deals with the same topic in a more understated fashion. Finding solace in verses from the Bible, she rises up against persecution ("No weapon formed against me shall prosper") and finds inner strength:

"So the more you curse me/The more you're blessing me/The Word said it/Love your enemies/Do good to those who curse you/Pray for those who mistreat you."

There is plenty of room for fun as well - as she coos on "I'm That Chick," a bouncy, ultra-catchy slice of old school soul, "I brings that levity." That track, as well as the Supremes-esque "I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time," sizzle with addictive hooks and wall-to-wall Mariahs singing over each other. Others like the sassy, dancefloor-ready "O.O.C. (Out of Control)," which has such snappy lyrics and blazing attitude that its title seems destined work its way shorthand vernacular, sound crafted to blare out of top-down convertible stereos on hot summer afternoons.

"Migrate" featuring T-Pain ("From my car into the club we migrate/From the bar to V.I.P. we migrate") and "Cruise Control" featuring Damien Marley ("I've been told so many sagas/He brings the drama, six baby mamas") both appear destined smash hits with their irrepressible choruses, and "I Stay In Love" is a classic Carey ballad that nevertheless finds her throwing curveballs at her creative palette.

"For the Record," however, may be the album's penultimate moment. Assuring a former love that her fire still burns bright, she namedrops some of her '90s records amid the buoyant, violin-infused instrumentation:

"Can't nobody say/I didn't give my all to you/And for the record/I told you underneath the stars that you belong to me/For the record/It's obvious that we just can't let go of us, honey."

Carey proves herself to be in the throes of an awesome creative streak with "E=MC2." The last album proved her talent unstoppable in spite of the odds against her, but this one affirms she is here to stay. She has never been more sexy, more beautiful, more moving or inspiring. Carey proves yet again that through all the imitators and worthy chart rivals there is only one performer with the killer combo of vocal perfection and songwriting panache.

"Them other regularities, they can't compete with MC," she continues on the aforementioned track. "The whole entire world can tell that you love yourself some me."

Our great-grandchildren will surely not remember most of today's entertainers, but "E=MC2" adds further likelihood that Carey will prove an exception to the rule.

Mariah Carey's last album was so perfect. She finally stopped whispering and placed her voice back above the mix and showed why she's had so many #1's -- her voice is stunning! For all the copy cats that come and go, nobody will hold a note and work it out like it's at Bally's like Mariah.

Her new disc is not a disappointment. It's not an exact retread of her last one, but it does share that same mix of thumping bass over her crystal clear voice, it's a mix that's worked so well last time so why mess with it.

There isn't one weak track on this disc, with all the top tier production she receives from Swizz Beats, Danja, Durpi, you'd think someone would drop the ball but nobody does. The dance tracks, "I'll Be Loving You Long Time" & "O.O.C." have that wonderful 70's feel that Alicia's album went for (but just missed the mark), out of the two "O.O.C." has the edge with it's more playful riff. "Side Effects" is another winner with a much harder and darker edge that works. Carey's not pushing her vocals and for most of the album, she's not octave leaping like she did on her last disc.

The ballads has always been her strong suit and this disc has some great ones. "Love Story" needs to be a single now! Jermaine Dupri and Carey just work. The same goes for "Last Kiss," these mid-tempo songs build until she lets it rip at the end. Her voice has gotten deeper, and it adds a great depth to the songs.

"I Wish You Well," with it's proverb spilling, gospel tinged, octave leaping showiness is Mariah making me wish she would do a gospel album.

Mariah has never gotten the due she deserves for reinvention. She's lost her footing along the way but most great artists do. Making great music is a journey and it's been an excellent one for her fans so far.

Emancipation = Mariah Carey to the second power, and sure enough her energy and talent ensures that this album will sell masses of copies at the speed of light.

Released on the same day that American Idol Season 7 featured her music, Mariah's appearance on the elimination show clearly showed the difference between the diva and the debutantes, Davids and dreadlocks. Heck, she even had Simon Cowell on his feet applauding.

With writing and production credits on every single song, the versatile MC delivers an album equal to "The Emancipation of Mimi", with a mix of R&B, pop, reggae, hip hop, soul and even disco. Lyrically the album seems very personal, especially the tracks "Side Effects" and "Bye Bye", but there's something here to appeal to every listener.

First single "Touch My Body" has already hit the number one spot, with second single "Bye Bye" hot on its heels. (The latter is the song she performed on American Idol.) Other first class tracks are "Cruise Control" (the reggae track featuring Damian Marley, and my favorite); "I Stay in Love" (a classic Mariah Carey track); "I'm That Chick" and "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" (bouncy retro-disco-pop tracks which sample music by Michael Jackson and DeBarge); "O.O.C." (meaning out of control); and the perfect album closer "I Wish You Well".

This album is recommended for any fan of popular music. There are no bad tracks, and singles will be coming from this album for quite a while.

  • I love this new album from Mariah Carey

    By AE31M52VLKOG6 on 2008-04-15
This is an excellent new album from Mariah Carey. My favorite track is "Cruise Control". I love the rapping by Damian Marley on this track. My other favorite track is I'm That Chick". It has a good groovy beat to dance to. "Side Effects" is a good jam too. I like the rapping by Jeezy on this song. "Touch My Body" is a very sensual song. It is the kind of song that makes me wish I had a girlfriend. There are also some very pretty track on this disc. Bye Bye is a very touching song. I also love the piano playing on I Wish You Well". "I Stay In Love" is a sweet love song. "Thanks For Nothing" is a good song about feeling broken hearted. I really enjoy listening to the tracks on this disc.

The world was introudced to Mariah Carey when she released her first single "Vision Of Love". The song was decent to me but when she did the track live on The Arsenio Hall show, that's when I became a fan. Her debut CD Mariah Carey was released in 1990. My favorite tracks were "Love Takes Time", "Vanishing", "Vision Of Love" , "I Don't Wanna Cry" and "Someday". A year later, Mariah released her 2nd CD Emotions, which features one of my favorite ballads from Mariah in "Can't Let Go". She released Music Box in 1993 which contained the hits "Dreamlover" and "Hero". 2 years later she released her 4th CD Daydream. This CD contained "Fantasy" w/the late ODB and "One Sweet Day" w/Boyz II Men which spent 16 weeks at #1.

After her much publicized split from Tommy Mottola in 1997, Mariah created her edgiest album to date with Butterfly. The 1st single "Honey" was produced by Sean "Puffy" Combs, Stevie J and Q Tip's and J Dilla's production group The Ummah, as well as, Mariah herself. My other favorite tracks included "Breakdown" w/Bone Thugs N Harmony, "My All", "Babydoll" and Mariah and Dru Hill's remake of the Prince classic "The Beautiful Ones". # 1's was released in 1998 and featured an updated version of "Whenever You Call" w/Brian McKnight, "When You Believe" w/Whitney Houston which was on "The Prince Of Egypt" soundtrack, "I'll Be There" w/Trey Lorenz and the remake to the Brenda K. Starr slow jam, "I Still Believe".

From there, in my opinion, things just went downhill from there as far as Mariah's CD were concerned. It got started with 1999's Rainbow. Now all of the tracks weren't bad, but if you look at the standards that were set from her previous CDs, you were left with a CD that would leave you disappointed. I actually enjoyed the remixes of her 2 #1's on this CD, "Heartbreaker" and "Thank God I Found You" better than the original versions of those tracks. Just when you thought it couldn't get any worse Mariah decided to release the soundtrack to her movie Glitter. This by far was Mariah's worst release ever. Other than a couple of ballads, this CD remained a coaster in my basement. Charmbracelet was released a year later and featured her smash "Through The Rain". While it was definitely better than "Glitter" the sales numbers didn't reflect that. 3 years later Mariah released her best CD since "Butterfly" in my opinion, with The Emancipation of Mimi - Platinum Edition. The 1st single "It's Like That" caught my attention but it wasn't until I heard "We Belong Together" when I realized that Mariah was officially back. The album cuts on this CD were nice as well with tracks like "Circles", "Mine Again", "Joy Ride" and "Fly Like A Bird" which I did hear on some radio stations. Jermaine Dupri, Manuel Seal, Johnta Austin, Bryan Michael Cox, The Neptunes, Kanye West, James "Big Jim" Wright, Mariah, etc. all should have been praised for the job well done on her comeback CD.

When I found out that Mariah would be releasing a new CD this year, I was anxious to see if Mariah would continue with making the classic CDs that she has made in the past or if her new work would be in the just another CD category. The 1st single "Touch My Body" is decent but Mariah is playing things too safe in my opinion. This song doesn't come close to any of the singles that she released on her last CD. I have definitely heard better work from C. Tricky Stewart & The Dream as well, especially on Mary J. Blige's "Just Fine". Danja gets things started in the club with "Migrate". Teddy Pain joins in on the collaboration and while I am not his biggest fan, I feel that he does a nice job, along with Mariah, getting "E=MC2" off to a good start. "Cruise Control" is decent as well until Mariah starts trying to act like she is Damian Marley on the 2nd verse. Damian does a good job with his verse but most Mariah fans will find this track to either be a hit or miss track. Bryan Michael Cox and Mariah produce a winner in "I Stay In Love". This is the stellar balladry that I always expect to hear on a Mariah Carey CD. This is clearly one of the best tracks on this CD. Young Jeezy, who appeared along with Jay Z, on Mariah's "Shake It Off (Remix)", shows up on "Side Effects". Scott Storch produces a bouncy track that allows Mariah and Jeezy to both put in nice performances. Stargate who has done production work on the latest CDs from Mary J. Blige, Janet Jackson, Trey Songz, Chris Brown, Rihanna and Ne-Yo show up to produce the uptempo track "I'm That Chick". This song sounds like an 80s jam that you would hear when you were trying to roller skate back in the day. This is another top notch track on "E=MC2". DJ Toomp who has done production work on Kanye West's "Graduation", Jay Z's "American Gangster" and past CDs from TI, shows up to produce "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time". This is another nice track from this CD. Mariah shows tremendous energy with this midtempo jam. Bryan Michael Cox shows up again on "For The Record". Mariah gets a chance to tell an ex that he will be the one who regrets letting her go in the longrun. Stargate shows up again to produce "Bye Bye", which is a tribute to everyone who has lost an important loved one in their lives. I also heard a version of this track with Jay Z, which is the 2nd single for "E=MC2". "I Wish You Well" picks up where "Fly Like A Bird" left off. Sometimes you find yourself wishing that Mariah would do more songs like these and to leave tracks like "Touch My Body" alone.

The problem with "E= MC2" is that the producer who deserved the most credit for what happened with "The Emancipation Of Mimi", which was Jermaine Dupri, doesn't give a stellar production performance this time around. If you listen to "Cruise Control", "Love Story", "Last Kiss" and "Thanx 4 Nothin'" you'll find yourself asking JD what happened this time around. "Cruise Control" and "Thanx 4 Nothin'" are decent but "Love Story" and "Last Kiss" are average and mediocre in my opinion. Even if you did like the track, JD's continuous talking through the tracks don't help things either.

Overall, there are some good moments with "E=MC2". The problem is that when you look at the body of work of "The Emancipation Of Mimi", it just seems that 1) the overall objective was to make a carbon copy of Mariah's last CD, 2) the best tracks on this CD pale in comparison to the best tracks on "The Emancipation Of Mimi" and 3) JD doesn't step up to the plate like he did on "Confessions" and Mariah's last CD. "What we got is Trill, it's too real to be the last kiss." JD almost ruins his tracks with his voice this time around. If you are a fan of the majority of Mariah's previous CDs then you should add "E=MC2" to your Mariah collection. If you are expecting another "The Emancipation Of Mimi", then you may want to approach this CD with lower expectations. Overall I would have to rate this CD between a 3 and a 3.5.

    James' Top 5

    1) I Wish You Well
    2) I Stay In Love
    3) I'm That Chick

    Honorable Mention:

    Side Effects w/Young Jeezy

  • Formulaic at times, but still wonderfully executed.
    By A1S2IY37JU93XS on 2008-04-18
I've been a huge Mariah Carey fan for the longest time, and in hindsight, I must admit that the Glitter and Charmbracelet eras were a bit painful for me. Both of the albums were really not as bad as the critics and nay-sayers were making them out to be. (The movie--which I saw on the first and only day it was at theaters--kinda was.) Nevertheless, the discs were certainly Carey's weakest pieces of work so far and to make matters even worse, it seems to me that the labels always seemed to choose the wrong singles. Even I--an unrealistically hopeful fan used to feigning interest in her music which continued to spiral in quality--was beginning to think her career was over. The first single from her comeback album, The Emancipation of MiMi, "It's Like That" came out in 2004. It was an improvement, but was certainly no return-to-form and it wasn't going to garner any big numbers for her tenth album. I bought it the day it came out anyways, and was surprised with how excellent the album actually was. Others saw this, too, after the stunning success of its second single, "We Belong Together" just days later. And the rest was history. It went six times platinum, got Mariah five Grammy nominations, and single-handedly put Mariah back on the top. And now, after waiting patiently and faithfully for a few years, she has returned with this album, E=MC². While it is quite clear at times that this album has a formula to it (create another "We Belong Together," create another MiMi-like album), it still doesn't take away from the fact that this is another excellent album from Carey.

The bouncy, fun, and flirty first single with those irresistible staccato piano notes, "Touch My Body," is catchy and all, but there are plenty of songs here that stand out more, in my honest opinion. "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" is my absolute favorite of the set. The song, built upon a sample of El DeBarge's classic "Stay With Me," is a three minute blast of energetic soul with layered vocals atop a brassy and rhythmic backdrop. "Side Effects" is probably Mariah's darkest song to date. The deeply personal lyrics reveal painful details about her past marriage to Tommy Motolla and the impact that it has left on her and her character: at times a bit mistrusting and paranoid towards those around her. The hip-hop inspired, heavy, grungy and synth-driven production matches the ominous mood in her vocals. On "Cruise Control," Mariah takes a shot at a reggae-influenced track with successful results. The track is a bouncy jam, perfect for those top-down summer drives. "I'm That Chick" is a refreshing 80's pop throwback laced with cool harmonies. "I Stay In Love" is a superb ballad with some incredible ad-libs near the end. "For The Record," which is the song featured on her M perfume commercials, turns out to actually be a heart-wrenching tale of wanting to give an ended relationship another try. "Bye Bye" has been announced to be the second single and, with its universal message about dealing with the loss of loved ones, the inspirational track is a bonafide smash. The touching lyrics in the verses are dedicated specifically to Mariah's father, who passed a few years back. For those who need their fix of old school Mariah, there is the closing ballad, "I Wish You Well." It's just the voice, a choir, and a piano. It is sparse, but absolutely perfect. Of course, Jermaine Dupri and Mariah supply us with numerous tracks ("Last Kiss," "Thanx 4 Nothin'," "Love Story") that once again prove their magic and chemistry together, even if none of the tracks can top "We Belong Together." There are only two songs on E=MC² that I don't care for. "Migrate" is alright, but Mariah--one of the best voices in the industry--most certainly does not need to succumb to the trend of vocal enhancing programs. Also, T-Pain (one of my least favorite artists in the music industry) makes and appearance that is annoying, not to mention too long. "O.O.C.," co-produced by Swizz Beatz, also failed to impress me for some reason. It just doesn't catch my ear, that's all.

The bottom line: Some of the critics are right; E=MC² is a bit formulaic at times. Parts of the album are clearly modeled after The Emancipation of MiMi or her incredibly successful single, "We Belong Together." Still, there are quite a few tracks where Carey steps out of her comfort zones to explore ("Cruise Control," "Side Effects, "I'm That Chick") and the tracks that happen to be formulaic are wonderfully executed... so I have no complaints. The vocals are a bit more subdued here, but the great belting and high notes are of course still present. The production and songwriting (not always the lyrics, though) are top notch. Overall, E=MC² is an impressive, catchy and entertaining album that matches her last one in quality and that will keep Mariah at the top, if not elevate her even higher.

Key tracks: I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time, Side Effects, I Stay In Love, I Wish You Well.

  • One of her overall worst albums 3 1/2 stars
    By AJK5WHV1GW941 on 2008-04-18
Mariah Carey needs no introduction. After all, she has sold over 100 million records. She is either known for her angelic beauty, her beautiful singing voice, or for going to some of the highest octaves possible. Regardless of how you know her, she is one of the most popular figures the music industry has ever seen. Most of the time, she releases quality material, timeless material, very listenable material. I am disappointed with this album as a unit primarily because this album sounds a lot like what was found on "The Emancipation of Mimi" as well as her other works. A few of the songs even sound like her smash hit, "Always Be My Baby." As everyone is well aware, Mariah can do some wonderful things with her voice, but she only gives us a few high notes on "E=MC2." This album is not horrible, it's just "okay."

I was immediately impressed with "Touch My Body." The lyrics are very racy, and the production sounds like a throwaway from one of her past albums, but something about this song works. It is definitely one of the strongest moments on this fourteen track compact disc. The only song that can hold a candle to "Touch My Body" is the magnificent "Last Kiss." This is really a nice song that I play repeatedly, particularly because I like the chorus. Jermaine Dupri shows up one too many times saying stupid things. He should just write and produce for Mariah, but Lord knows he needs to stop saying "MC, what," etc. etc. Enough is enough. "I Wish You Well" is another nice track. Mariah showcases her singing skills oh so well at the end of this song. She did very well and reminded me of the Mariah I was introduced to in the early 1990s. Missteps include "Migrate" and "For the Record." Plainly put, I could not get into these numbers. The rest of the album is alright, but this music is no where near timeless.

I'm a bit hesitant to recommend this album because I know what this artist is capable of. If you are alright with Mariah doing typical R&B and conforming to what music sounds like today, pick this album up. But, if you want Mariah in rare form, if you want Mariah at her best, invest in "Mariah Carey", "Music Box" and "Daydream." Now there is MUSIC on those albums.

    Mikeisha's Top 5

    1. "Touch My Body"
    2. "Last Kiss"
    3. "I Stay in Love"
    4. "I'll Be Loving You Long Time"
    5. "Cruise Control"

  • Disappointing
    By A1MIDT2ALHGQMU on 2008-04-16
What a disappointment. TEOM may as well have been a 2-disc set since this one deviates little from that album. Bad lyrics. Bad melodies. Bad rapping. First two singles are snoozers. Best song is Migrate which is completely destroyed by the disruptive rap.

Went from a fan to I ran (away) in just two quick albums. Bring back 1990s Mariah, please.

  • Another Great Album
    By A3OO4WIO4SKD55 on 2008-04-15
Mariah has outdone herself with E=MC². While I find Touch My Body to be one of her worst songs to date, The rest of the album totally makes up for it. "I'm That Chick" is a soulful 70's sounding song sampling Off The Wall by Michael Jackson. "I'll Be Lovin' U Long time" is another great track. I was a little skeptible about listing to it at first because it sampled "Stay with me" by DeBagre and I was worried it would sound exactly like Ashanti's "Foolish" And Notorious BIG's "One More Chance" (Radio/video version) and I hate oversampling but Mariah used a different portion of the DeBarge song. "Last Kiss" (Minus The extra Jermaine Durpi vocals) is a track which reminds me of the Mariah before Butterfly, Before she started working with Sean "Diddy/Puffy" Combs and became hip-hop-ish with her songs. I didn't like "Migrate" when I first saw her perform it on SNL but its growing on me. The best song on the album has to be Bye Bye. In a way, it's kind of like a part to to "Sunflowers For Alfred Roy" from Charmbracelet. She sings about losing someone and since I just lost my mother in October of 2006, the song really spoke to me. Other than not liking "Touch My Body", E=MC² is a great album.

    My top 5 songs
    1. Bye Bye
    2. I'm That Chick
    3. I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time
    4. Last Kiss
    5. Thanx 4 Nothin'

  • where did the song bird go??
    By A2C9180NOUD1LI on 2008-04-25
used to be a HUGE fan of MC. but that was when she had amazing songs with superb vocals.

"E=MC2" is just another lowly attempt at conforming to the popular music industry of today. nothin in this album is special, simply cannot compare to her old stuff. in fact, it's nothin you have never heard of -- b/c it sounds like everythin else on the radio nowadays. repetitive and bland at best, it does not show her true vocal abilities, which is a big shame.
i fell in love with her music at first because her voice was captivating and resounding. now...she just puts out stuff that is disappointing (especially when juxtaposed next to her 90s music).

if you want music that offers outstanding vocals with fascinating lyrics and varied/distinctive rhythms, then forget this manufactured album and get MC's pre-1998 albums, which will never disappoint. why? b/c none of the songs (almost none) in those LPs is boring and repetitive. unlike the ones in "E=MC2", the old songs have distinctive qualities that set them apart. pre-1998 was when MC had good music the last time. that was when she was THE song bird... oh and very well dignified...which is another topic that i won't get into this here...

if ur not so much of a big fan of hers, i'd recommend getting the "#1's" album, featurin all her old-time faves...very very nice LP, includin masterpieces like 'my all", "hero", "one sweet day", etc.

  • It's like that
    By A1U11PS71ML0YJ on 2008-04-18
I was eagerly awaiting Mariah's new release E=MC2 primarily because of the massive success of her 1st single off the cd "Touch My Body" which was a bonafided smash.

It didn't prepare for what the cd as a whole had to offer which is far more than i anticipated this time around. From a kiss off track that shows exactly what kind of vocals she possesses "I Wish You Well" to a track about missing our loved ones that have passed on her new single off the album "Bye Bye". Also another that i enjoyed is the first song on the cd "Migrate" with T-Pain. You wouldn't think that it quite work out but somehow it all melds together with a fierce beat that won't let go of you and the vocoder effects that has T-Pain much success. Another one "Cruise Control" with Damian Marley. It has a slick reggae beat to it but it also has a upbeat style of flow to it both on her vocals and Damian's as well. It makes you feel like your on a beach on a far off island just relaxing.

"Thanx 4 Nothin" is exactly what it states Mariah's letting a guy know that she doesn't appreciate his tired, lame ways towards her. "I'll Be Lovin U Long Time" and "Last Kiss" show MC doing her thing and exactly why she has such steady and long lasting success and the vocals are never better. She also writes on every song on E=MC2 and has some help from Nate "Danja" Hills, T-Pain, Bryan Cox, S. Shropshire, Scott Storch, Jermaine Dupri, Terius "The Dream" Nash, S. Eriksen and T. E. Hermansen among others. It's a who's who list of producers and writers but she's still able to fly on her own throughout the release with only 3 guest stars (Migrate feat T-Pain, Cruise Control feat Damian Marley and Side Effects feat Young Jeezy).

Tracks of note (that should be future singles)

    Migrate Feat. T-Pain
    I Stay In Love
    Side Effects Feat. Young Jeezy
    Love Story
I'll Be Loving U Long Time
    Last Kiss
    Thanx 4 Nothin
    For The Record
Bye Bye (already the 2nd single from the album)
    I Wish You Well

i really enjoyed Emancipation of Mimi, but dare i say it. I'm enjoying E=MC2 that much more and its going to be another smash album for Mariah and her fans are feeling it as well and even if your not a fan of MC. Give this one a try and a few listens i think that it just might change your mind. One of the better cd releases of 2008 so far.

  • Boring.... Boring... Boring.... Same sound as always.....
    By A1H9R2P645593L on 2008-04-23
    just one world.... Boring.
Its "Migrate" and a bunch of boring songs....
Same sound as the last CD, nothing new. Whats wrong with this girl?
I bet shes gonna have to do tons of remixes and a Re release to "sell millions".

  • Just O.K.
    By A2VVKWLJYMNQ4Y on 2008-04-17
Still reaping the rewards of her success in 2005, Mariah clearly decided to come out with an JUST OK record knowing that the remnants would carry this album along from hype alone. Unlike The Emancipation of Mimi, this album lacks that "We Belong Together" type song (even though it tries to recapture it failingly).
The 1st half of the album is a skip fest, for the most part but "I Stay in Love" and "Love Story" stop it from being that entirely. This is where the bulk of the very bad and unneccesary collaborations take place;"Migrate" is a good club song (which is I guess why the lyrics leave very much to be desired)but those cheesy lyrics stop it from being a good song in general. "Cruise Control" is just a mess of a song and "Side Effects" actually would be a better song if Young Jeezy wasn't in it at all. I won't even bother discussing TMB because everyone should know that song by now.
The album's better half is clearly the 2nd part although it does have 1 giant snag in it called "O.O.C.". Some of the songs here tend to start sounding the same, which is the other downside to it.
One of the drawbacks is that Mariah's lyrics are a little too simple, verging on ridiculous for a majority of the album. The 1 thing that stops E=MC2 from being in the same realm as such lackluster albums like Glitter and Rainbow, is the fact that the bright spots are very bright indeed.
    Noteable Tracks:
    I Stay in Love
    Love Story
I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time
    Last Kiss
    Thanx 4 Nothin'

The rest of the album ranges from extremely bad to JUST OK!

  • MARIAH SOLD OUT
    By A21BABIF5NC3A6 on 2008-04-17
Mariah Carey is a great talent. It's so sad to see her trying to sound like everyone else just to sell music. I am one of her die hard fans, but I can't say that I like this album. She needs to get back to her own true sound and leave out the synthesizers and rap crap. C'mon Mariah, I know that you still have it in you. Let's hear from YOU next time.

  • Disappointed
    By A2E2OATRM0KTLB on 2008-04-19
If you're anything like me, then you remember with fondness the days when Mariah sang. When this incredibly talented singer took the stage and the crowed was amazed by the sheer talent and power of her voice, and the quality of her songs. I loved Mariah, along with the rest of the country. I have been once again disappointed. I'm tired of this singer of legendary quality singing stupid pop songs.

  • Mariah squared is energy!!
    By A24N1BAS3CU27H on 2008-04-17
Mariah Carey returned with a bang in 2005 with "The Emancipation of Mimi" which won 3 Grammys and sold millions, winning back loads of people, myself included. On "E=MC²", she returns with more of that winning formula, so much so that lead-off single (and her 18th US #1 single) "Touch my body" reminds one a lot of her hit "We belong together". Still, it is a nice song, with Mariah's vocals fluttering over a stripped beat and tinkling music box with lyrical references to YouTube and her threatening to "hunt you down". She even strikes a pose on the cover, similar to that on "Emancipation..".

While this CD is a natural progression from "Emancipation..", she does attempt to spread her musical wings somewhat more on this album, for which I must applaud her. "Cruise control" is a reggae-ish song, featuring Damien Marley, and with Mariah singing in some Jamaican-ish patois, while getting semi-biographical are a pair of songs; the hard hitting "Side effects" (with sluggish synths, and verbose lyrics about an abusive relationship; hers with ex hubby Tommy Mottola) and the fantastic power ballad (and second single to be) "Bye bye", written about the loss of her estranged father.

There's also quite a bit to dance to; the disco-tinged Stargate produced "I'm that chick" lifts a few lines off Michael Jackson's "Off the wall", the bouncy disco-tinged Swizz Beatz produced "OOC" (for "Out of control", soon to be a catchphrase; look and learn Paris "that's hot" Hilton!!) finds her singing in French, Italian and Spanish, and the Danja produced "Migrate" features a dark grinding beat and Mariah toying a lot with her bird whistle register before morphing into a synth note.

Other standouts are the sweeping "Thanx 4 nothin'" (with rapid fire verses), "I'll be lovin' you long time" (with vocal layering sounding like a Mariah-filled studio, and a DeBarge sample), the synth string swathed beauty "For the record", and the stunning stripped gospel choir-backed piano ballad "I wish you well" (and with a few Biblical quotes thrown in, you'd be forgiven for not noticing it is in fact a kiss-off song). She sounds exceptionally great and emotional on this song.

One other thing I liked is the fact that the album is not chock full of rappers (I can't wait for that phenomenon to just die in American music). The album also has more pop appeal than its predecessor. For those who loved "Emancipation...", there's more to love here, and to those who didn't? Well, I'm afraid they are going to be hearing a lot off this album like it or not. Now I'm waiting impatiently for the new Madonna Hard Candy and Donna Summer Crayons CDs...

  • Long way from "Vision of Love"
    By A1RZ3P4PLF6SR7 on 2008-04-17
After hearing snippets, I am convinced that Mariah Carey phoned in this album. It's another piece of tripe from one of the great voices in current pop music. But, given that Mariah does have a fine voice (of course, you would not know it from the trash she puts out these days)-- it's a shame that she puts out this over produced, paint by numbers album. After 20 years in the music biz, you'd think Mariah Carey would be more concerned about her legacy and put out a "voice centered album" -- but instead she aligns herself with hip-hop wonderkids. What a shame; what a waste of a great talent. Mariah Carey does have the voice but it's buried in the beats. E=MC is a long way from "Vision of Love".

And because we know there is an actual lovely voice there but not utilized -- this make it all the more frustrating.

  • Where's the real Mariah?
    By A2ULNFHM9KHQ6F on 2008-05-03
I've been a fan of Mariah since she first came on the scene, and I've been eagerly awaiting her return. I don't know where she's gone since her Butterfly album - In my opinion that was her last decent album and even that one showed her gradual descent into this hip-hop jibberish where she's trying to be so sexy and cool, and singing in this bizarre, whining fashion. Since then, all of her songs have been boring and they all sound the same, just like many other reviewers have already pointed out. E=MC2 is more of the same. Did she lose her mind after she divorced Tommy Mottola? Seems like she's still rebelling after all these years. Mariah, go back to the songs that made you great! You could still be the greatest if you wanted to!

  • Lazy effort
    By AXZTYO1AUH5Z4 on 2008-04-15
Not many artists can now launch new albums which we can call an event album. Mariah Carey is one these rare ones still standing. Even Whitney and Celine have fallen behind and lost that hype with their latest albums. Same thing goes for Janet - enough said.

It is interesting to note that the album cover drops her "Carey" - following the footsteps of Janet Jackson with the release of her Janet album (her best effort yet). Einstein's E=MC2 revolutionised science but sadly the new album does not deliver in this context. It is at most a B-graded follow-up to the Mimi album and if there is one word to describe the effort - it is "lazy" - from bland formulation and production from song to song. Her latest number one "Touch" already signalled a large degree of complacency - bubble-gum and cheesy completely void of any breakthrough and worth of remembrance.

All said, the glitter that comes forth is that this effort is still miles better than the horrific Leona Lewis' album. That album is a huge setback to current state of music and it is best to be avoided like a plague.

E=MC2 is at most an optional additional to her previous albums but it does stays completely relevant to the music enjoyed by the masses today. And I'm still be looking forward to her next release....

  • E=MC2= could have been better.
    By A237UQWA01EGVD on 2008-04-15
i feel i have heard alot of these songs before, this cd has too many slow, or low beat song......kinda dull. I was hoping for some new sounds, but it just alot of the same thing, many of these songs sound like her old ones with new words. the best songs, and out of 14 is pretty bad, side effects, for the record, i stay in love, bye bye, and i wish you well. There are no tracks on here that you say.....WOW, that hott. Janet cd had alot of slow songs, but the fast ones had a great grove, this cd is kinda lazy layed back. ZZZZZZZZ. oh. wake up. i think i will wait for madonna cd......its gonna be hott. better luck next time M.C. love ya, but get into the grove.

  • You Won't Wanna 'Touch' This CD!
    By AI69U88HXU9LC on 2008-04-16
It's Mariah Carey's worst CD. I loved "The Emancipation of Mimi," but "E=MC2" isn't at all a hit, or classic. Sure, there are some goods songs on here, like my favorite "I'm That Chick, and "Migrate" is ok. But, she totally doesn't bring the fire on the CD like I expected.

  • Decent follow up to Mimi
    By AQO6HMJL6F9O6 on 2008-04-17
Some of you really write to long of reviews lol whew..anyway i had to listen to this cd a couple of times to really pick up on it and say i liked it. My first listen i was like JUNK, again the crackly voice and some breathy vocals really annoy me. I guess i need to just let go of the old mariah from the early 90's with big voice. While after a couple of listens i was like well this is pretty good and put away the old mariah forever, cause i truly believe her voice has changed. It proably happens to some or she just cant sing live i dont know. In any event the cd is pretty good for some more upbeat songs. Its a decent follow up to Mimi but no real power ballads, there replaced with more upbeat ballads like dont forget about us or we belong together. theres no Love takes time or Without you here. I love Mariah and always will.

  • What has happened to her voice and musical style?
    By A7G2XFIRGEQWM on 2008-04-24
In my opinin Mariah has lost the powerful voice she had in the 90's and now she has to sing like beyonce or ashanti because she can no longer hit the high notes that she did on songs like Anytime you need a friend or Emotions. No wonder why she doesn't sing those songs on her concerts now days. None of the songs in this album are memorable and they will be forgotten in a short time.

Mariah, you might be trying to prove Tommy Mottola that you are successful with this hip hop style, but if it wasn't for all those songs and that wonderful voice you use to sing with while you were under his guidance, You would not be the sucessful artist you are today.

  • Everyone Migrate to Walmart, and buy this album now!
    By A1B1OEZR3NS9OV on 2008-04-15
Wow! Only one word describes this album! E=MC2 Is a great follow up to the The Emancipation of MiMi, and you can most definately tell that Mariah is going in a good direction. To have Two acclaimed (from my point of view) albums put out back to back, it's just like her carreer started all over again. This album in a sense would be like her sophmore effort, but at the same time we know that Mariah has been around for 18 years and her albums never fail to impress.
I am going to do a track by track review of E=MC2

1.) Migrate-This song is like Shake It Off on steroids. I think it is a great song, a club banger, and a definately number one single in Mariah's Book. This song has became extremely popular amongg fans, I beleive after Def Jam sees the Digital Downloads blow up for this song, they will release it as the third single. 10/10

2.) Touch My Body-Everyone knows this number one success!!! Mariah goes to show you that she doesn't need to have huge range on song for it to do good. This song is very relaxing, fun, and catchy. I love it to death. Even though it's not an overly strong song, it is one that we can all just have fun too, and that is what counts sometimes. 10/10

3.) Cruise Control-This song has some reggae influences built into it, and it features Damien Marley, the son of the Ever so great Bob Marley. This song also doesn't have alot of range, like touch my body. Nevertheless the song did take awhile for me to get used to. The song itself is pretty catchy, but it isn't one of the best songs on the album. I do give Mariah major props for speaking in a Jamaican accent though. I think she did a pretty good job. Just a pretty average song in my book. 7/10

4.) I stay In Love-YES! YES! YES! No one can say that they do not love this song. It is such a sweet love song! If you are looking for a follow up of We Belong Together, then this is the song for you! The song has a great Melody, and a wonderful piano in the background, and Mariah's Range is excellent! A flawless song indeed. 10/10

5.) Side Effects- Side Effects is the most hip-hop influenced song on the album. The song has an extremely heavy beat to follow along with the lyrics. And the song features Young Jeezy. I am not a fan of Jeezy at all, actually I think he is a terrible Rapper. Nevertheless the song is a banger! I didn't like it at first, because I had to get used to Jeezy's rap, but the song is excellent and extremely catchy! I think this will be a favorite among many. 9/10

6.) I'm That Chick-Wow what a classy Mariah Song this is. It sounds like a song from Mariah's earlier days, yet it still has those modernized lyrics. The song sounds alot like Neyo's song "Because Of You" but I think it is better. The song is very fun and bouncy like. A great song! 10/10

7.) Love Story-Love story is an excellent Ballad! She refrences the extrmely popular song by Hurricane Chris "A Bay Bay" in the song. The song itself shows huge range by mariah, from Low notes to High Notes. She just sounds amazing in this song. It is definately one of my favorites. 10/10

8.) I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time-This song is what the song Your Girl is to The emancipation of MiMi. It's just a short song to, I guess, put some fun out to her fans. Personally I am not feeling this song that much. It is pretty catchy, but it is just kind of annoying to me. I really hope it grows on me, because it's a shame that this is the only song I don't like that much. 5/10

9.) Last Kiss- Another huge Jermaine Dupri Hit right here! JD and Mariah have it down packed to the "T". All of there songs that they make are just freaking amazing! And this one is not an exception. Just an amazing song that Mariah shows amazing vocals on. I think this will definately be a favorite among fans as well. 10/10

10.) Thanx 4 Nothin-Love it! This song is a very short and simple song. I like the lyrics alot, and Mariah sounds excellent! She has great range on this song as well, it is extremely catchy and she just did an overall excellent job. 10/10

11.) O.O.C-Alot of people don't like this song, but I think it is awesome! This song is fun!! It's so catchy and fresh, I like it alot! The lyrics can be a bit corney to some, but you canot deny this songs catchiness. It just makes you want to get up and dance! 10/10

12.) For The Record-WOW! WOW! WOW! By far the best song on the album. This song most definately needs to be a single. I have not felt like this about a Mariah song in a long time. The song gives me chills! I listen to it over and over, and I could never get tired of it. The song is perfect, and she actually hits an 18 second whistle in this song! My Jaw dropped to the floor when she did that. Bravo Bravo!!!! 10/10

13.) Bye Bye-The second single from the album, and I beleive it was a pretty good choice. I think Bye Bye being a single is excellent, but being the second single was a bit too fast in my opinion. I think it should have been the fourth single Maybe, because a song about Death as a second single is a bit too fast In my opinion, but at the same time the song is amazing. I like it alot, and it is very heartfelt, you can tell that she really does miss her father in the song! 10/10

14.) I wish you well-Another Gospel inspired song by Mariah and I must say that it is amazing! Mariah always amazes me with the closing song of her albums! This song is so simple and amazing, all she needs is a piano and a few Bible versus and she has it made! 10/10

131/140=93% Which is an A Average.
Mariah has been in the Industry for 18 years and she has most definately made her mark. For her to do this in this period of time, is an excellent feat. I think Mariah isn't going anywhere anytime soon! She is most definately staying around for awhile, and I think she will do well for the rest of her carreer if she keeps doing the great job she is already doing! Go out and please buy this album!!!

  • Lazy album
    By A3LQ2MH2WP2IIE on 2008-04-16
When I first heard it, I only liked one song: MIGRATE.
But than I force myself to listen to it a couple times and all I can like is 3 songs. Migrate, For The Record, and her best is I WISH YOU WELL.
The I Wish You Well is so good, I believe that it's from her very first album. That's how good it is. The vocal that all the fans want is from that song.

  • For The Record, This Is Great!
    By A3SV72ZAHH2IDH on 2008-04-18
Mariah Carey was called the songbird for a reason, she was one of the greatest singers of all time. Discovered by record boss Tommy Mottola she recorded her debut album in 1990 and later married him aswell. She mesmerized people all over the world with her vocal reach and her soulful music. She reached her peak in 1994 with the release of her third album Music Box that stood out from the crowd, in particular her cover of "Without You" that probably is her best vocal performence to date. Her 4th album Daydream was just as good and more big hits continued on the next album Butterfly. However, as successful as she was she still wasn't happy and divorced Mottola in 1998. When she emanicaped herself from his grip her music also changed, the powerballads and soulful songs about love and emotions that had been her strongest part changed for more contemporary R&B too often playing on sex, club songs and even some Hip Hop songs to gain street credability. Her first album without Mottola, Rainbow yielded two more #1 singles, "Heartbreaker" with Jay-Z and "Thanks God I Found You" that featured Joe and 98 Degrees. It became her 14 and 15 number one, In a then 9 year old career!. But this was also the beginning of the end, her upcoming two albums "Glitter" and "Charmbracelet" were so bad that even you could only feel sympathy for her. Useless remakes of 80's hits, Hip Hop duets, and dull ballads were not what you could expect from the girl with the voice that absolutely set the world on fire a couple of years prior. Still to this day it is a mystery how these album could become so bland. When you thought that Mariah's career was coming to and end she released a strong comeback album The Emancipation of Mimi - Platinum Edition that gave her the hit "We Belong Together", her biggest hit to date, spending 14 weeks at #14 and becoming the biggest US hit of 2005. The album wasn't perfect but it was released at the right time and it was better then anything else Mariah had done since "Butterfly". The expections of her now, is to come out with another album just as good or better and not go back to lackluster territory with music she shouldn't be making, can she do it?.

Her new album E=MC² is a play on the famous Einstein theory, it means "(E) Emancipation (=) equals (MC) Mariah Carey (²) to the second power". And with a title like that you could think that the album is rather simular to her last one?. One again we have good producers like Swizz Beatz, Storch, Danja and Tricky Stewart and the album give us both trendy party songs and more laidback ballads. It starts with the Danja produced "Migrate" a typical club song with good beats. She sings "From my car into the club we migrate/ From the bar to V.I.P. we migrate/ From the party to the after party, migrate/ After party to hotel, migrate" T-Pain barely appears so I wouldn't call it a duet. "Touch My Body" from Umbrella producer Tricky Stewart was the first single and it's a typicl MC song. But the lyrics play on sex more then anything. However, it's a strong first single that reached #1, her 18th, a record that only Elvis is comparable with. "Cruise Control" from Dupri with Damian Marley feel forced, why they came up with that pairing in the first place I don't know. It's some kind of mix between Pop and Caribbean Music, let that over to Sean Kingson instead. "I Stay In Love" is simular to "We Belong Together", and was produced by Bryan Michael Cox. I don't know if it's dedicated to Mottola or not but it's a decent song. Storch make one of his better songs in ages, the catchy midtempo "Side Effects" that also feature a cameo from Young Jeezy. It's most defenitely about Mottola, it should be a single cause of it's sound and hook. Stargate produced "I'm That Chick" is alright but sound rather fammiliar to what they normally do. Possible single anyway.

"Love Story" from Dupri again is a bland ballad, but why can't Dupri shut his mouth during her singing. He's more annoying then Diddy and not much more talented either. "I'll Be Lovin' U Long Time" from Dj Toomp on the other hand is better. A happy midtempo with alot of retro soul. Dupri successfully destroys the next song "Last Kiss" aswell and the same goes for "Thanx 4 Nothin" but both songs are bland ballad filler. "O.O.C" is a club song from Swizz Beatz, as repetitive as it is, it's actually ok. Cox is back on the midtempo "For The Record" a typical MC song that ends up being one of the best. Piano, Strings and a great hook here. Stargates's second inclusion is called "Bye Bye" and is a ballad and will be the second single. I found it rather forgettable though but Mariah proves she's a fantastic singer. The album closes with a real bland ballad "I Wish You Well" from James Poyser that just feature a simple piano, maybe this was the point?.

Overall, Another solid album from MC just like her previous one. It doesn't break new ground or sound too trendy compared to alot of other music around but it got something for everyone with clubsongs (that are actually good) and ballads/midtemopos that stand out. Most producers involved here are suitable for her style and I don't have too many comaplains other then skipping the Dupri collaborations since they are both bland and then ruined by his boyish diddyesque grunts. Having said that, this album is pretty good when Mariah gives the fans what they expected and what she's expected to do. My final vote is 3'5 and I'm sure there will be more big hits from this album. Nice to see her making good music.

  • Over-produced with lots of filler
    By AW20RNF28ZT9C on 2008-04-20
I like Mariah Carey, but this is not one of her better efforts. There are three songs that are pretty good:

Touch My Body - Good bump 'n' grind type ballad with a strong hook - easily the best song on the album

I'll Be Lovin' You Long Time - Straight ahead Mid-tempo groove with big production, and

    Thanx for Nothin

The rest of the album is made up of competent but unoriginal crunk-lite and crossover hip hop style production which is so prevalent on the radio these days. More often than not, Mariah's vocals take a back seat in these songs to the monotonous thumping beats.

  • Mariah For President : A Slice of Pop Perfection
    By A2ULSA0IRUE09E on 2008-04-22

Every Mariah Carey album is an event worth waiting for, and such was the case with this glorious return-to-form. So many professional reviews seem to prefer "The Emancipation of Mimi" over this - but I guess they haven't listened to this long enough. Its twice as playful as `Mimi', and definitely more musically creative. On certain songs, little snippets stand out, a sample here and there - but everything comes together beautifully. This is also clearly an album that holds up - almost demands - repeat listening, only because there are vast riches here to rediscover.

What a treasure that in this day and age we have an artist who understands what it means to truly record a genuine `pop' album, and also one without any filler. The `filler' is something that Mariah herself has had trouble with - on `Mimi' there were at least three sub-par tracks, and early in her career she was notorious for some real snoozefests amongst the more popular singles on her albums. On this new CD, almost every track is made for radio (which may be a good or bad thing based on how interested you are in pop music as art versus pop music as fun), and its easy to see why this is clearly Mariah's best album after "Butterfly" (which despite being from the mid 1990s, never sounds dated in the least).

Lead single "TMB" is actually the least interesting thing here. In between Jamaican banter on "Cruise Control", Mariah makes the time for Jesus ("I Wish you Well"), discusses divorce and sleeping with the enemy (on "Side Effects"), ponders the death of a relationship ("Thanx for Nothin"), flits in and out of nightclubs for no apparent reason ("Migrate"), and spouts eulogies for her dead grandparents ("Bye Bye"). She manages to lacquer all of the above in a bright lavender gloss and Hello Kitty-esque lyrical input, so that even in her most supposedly poignant moments (such as on the final gospel track), its impossible not to just step back and gaze in awe at the absolute pinkness of the project. I mean this in a nice way.

What really shines here though is the production. The best track on the album by a long shot is "I'm That Chick" - an amalgamation of Michael Jackson's late 1970s hits with some Neptunes-lite production - the song has a killer verse, soaring pre-chorus, and an actual chorus that is twenty times better than anything currently on the radio. A perfect pop song - I wish Janet Jackson could have learnt from Mariah before attempting those disco sounding numbers on her last tepid album. "For the Record" towards the end of the album is to me what "We Belong Together" was to the "Mimi" Era - a superb slice of fine songwriting and a verse and chorus that you will be humming for months - I expect this to be a monster hit.

In fact, the album itself is too big and grand to believe - not since Shania Twain's "Come on Over" has an album contained so many potential Top 10 singles - with the sole exception of the somewhat boring "Last Kiss", every track here is top notch. And while Mariah is not exactly hitting the whistle register anymore (those high, glass-shattering vocals are found only on the opening seconds of "Migrate" and on the background of "I Wish you Well"), her singing sounds as capable and interesting as ever.

All in all, this is both a pop music lover and a musicians' album, with emphasis on the music. For all its' chart success, one tends to forget that is definitely the most musically lush release of 2008, and harkens back to the day when Mariah ruled the airwaves and charts - because she deserved to. As a Mariah fan, she has often let me down, especially with the disgusting "Charmbracelet", but the effortless ease and charm of this new CD will make you an instant convert. Seriously, even if you're a die-hard rock music fan, chances are that you will fall in love with this album almost immediately - and how many albums can you say that about?

    Four and a Half Stars.

  • Still the same old song
    By A1WDJ2FXZWBRF7 on 2008-05-06
First of all, I do like Mariah; however, she has not grown as an artist. Her music has not changed in the last 15 years. For example, the song "Side Effects," could be easily mistaken from the album "Music Box." In my opinon, it happens to be my favorite song from E=MC2.

She has such a beautiful voice. She really needs to try something else on the side. I would like to hear a jazz album from her or something out of the ordinary.

  • You need a cough drop or something?
    By AW2COKRISE6OB on 2008-05-07
This music is trash without a purpose. I LOVE trash! Don't get me wrong. This is Mariah's "after-diet" album. She thinks she's hot, she ain't. Her voice is gone and so is her body. Look at this album cover, she's airbrushed into and inch of her life!
