  • Oh, Wow, I Love This Thing-- And It's Aptly Named-- Bamboo Fun

    By A2Y739CRM15WDL on 2007-09-27
I intended to write a serious review explaining the many useful features but that doesn't actually capture the fact that this thing is also fun, Fun, FUN!

*Deep breath*. Ok, back to serious mode. I've owned several pen shaped mouses (mice?) over the course of the last few decades and two graphics tablets. Prior to USB the tablets required some serious thought about how I was going to connect the tablet, a mouse and a keyboard. This one though just plugs in to a USB port, no need for any other power source -- and there is a ring in the top that lights up to let you know it is ready to go.

The graphics pen feels good and there are lots of choices when it comes to the function to assign to the two buttons. I like right click for the top one, scroll for the bottom and click for the tip. If you don't want to actually touch the pen to the tablet then you can set it to hover and make the lower button perform the click function. There is also a box you can check to get a click sound. The pen takes a little getting use to but I caught on fast and there is even a stand to keep it in although I keep knocking it over-- I assume it isn't weighted to keep the total postage weight down.

In addition to the pen is an elegant black and grey mouse that works like any other wireless mouse except it has to be used in proximity to the tablet.

The lit up ring on the tablet can also be used to manipulate documents, web pages, etc. Run your finger inside it clockwise and a web page increases in size, counter clockwise make it decrease in size. There are also two bottoms to each side which can be assigned functions.

There's some nice software on the disc that comes bundled with this set-- Adobe Photoshop Elements, Corel Painter Essentials 3.0 and Nik Color Etex Pro 2 GE. I found myself sitting here doing some juvenile things with photographs just because I could.

This would make a really good Christmas gift or a great gift for yourself any time.

  • so-so if you have older software, otherwise fun

    By A2F1P10GGZ7K2T on 2007-10-07
I've never used this type of device before so this was a fun experience yet frustrating at the same time. I rated this a 3 stars (a good buy vs a great[4 stars] or must have buy[5 stars]).

    Pro's:
    1) Packaging and product are attractive and modern. Kudos to the marketing team

    2) Installation was a snap. Plug in the USB cable, run the software driver installer and you're all set between 5-7 minutes for the main unit. The additional software takes a bit longer.

    3) The tablet is heavy enough to sit in place and not get easily knocked or slide. Yet light enough to hold it in your lap or against your body like a pad of paper and write/draw on

    4) The pen is just the right thickness to be comfortable without giving hand cramp like thin, cheap BIC pens do when writing for a long duration

    5) If you don't already have a wireless mouse, this package comes with one

    6) Even though I was suspect of getting the "small" tablet, the software allows the entire tablet space to span the entire desktop

    7) The express navigation keys on the keypad itself were useful for navigating through documents, web pages and zooming in/out

    8) Variable speeds controlled by the software along with sensitivity settings. You can configure the device to work to your level of comfortability

    9) Product registration was a snap and can be done online or via a form you print out and mail

    Cons:
    1) I wanted to use this unit specifically for writing. But, I have XP and Office 2003. According to the manual I need Vista and Office 2007 to be able to accomplish digital writing. Purchase of two additional software packages?!? Darn. Just blew the whole reason I wanted to use this. Thus the system requirements aren't very clear before you buy.

    2) The 4 ft USB cable is just not long enough for desktop users. Six foot would have been a lot better. Thus if you have a desktop that isn't near your monitor/work area (i.e. sitting on the ground), then get a USB extension cable for about $10 at a local computer store

    3) I had some difficulty at first. If I wanted to reach the lower left corner of my desktop to click on the XP Start button, I'd have to move the pen to the lower-left corner of the tablet. When running in high resolutions as I do, this makes fine, small movements act as big leaps of the cursor when using this small tablet pad.

    4) The mouse that comes with this is not ergonomic and very, very basic. Best to get a $30 or more wireless mouse for more functionality and a more comfortable feel. But if you wind up using the pen (pen mode or mouse mode) it takes about 10 minutes to get use to it and then you almost never need a mouse

    5) Wacom's Product Support page was a bit confusing. I couldn't tell if I needed the Graphire3(CTE) drivers or the Graphire4(CTE) drivers. Nowhere on this product box does it have the name Graphire, so I wasn't sure if which were the correct drivers

    OVERALL:
This is a fun gadget (just like the name) and if/when I upgrade my OS and Office products or find another writing software then I may find more use for it. I'm not into the photo editing but it does come with some free software to get a user going. Its a VERY specific device for a specific use. Hopefully some of my pitfalls will help prepare you ahead of time to enjoy this item to its fullest.

  • Wacom delivers with Bamboo Fun!

    By A17BUUBOU0598B on 2007-10-14
Wacom has brought this technology a long way. Many shopping for Wacom tablets probably have owned similar products in the past. This product is more affordable than the higher end Intuos3 models, yet powerful enough for many pros.

For me, the small size is perfect. The "medium" sized tablet is suited for hard core graphics people who need to work at the pixel level for large images. Those using this for the mouse also may prefer the medium size. However, most users will find the small size probably fits their needs. Either way, the tablet maps to your screen size for any of these models.

This unit comes in a variety of colors and configurations. I prefer the look of the black tablet, but there are silver, white and blue ones also.
Bamboo Fun (Medium) Silver Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics Software
Bamboo Fun (Medium) Black Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics Software
Bamboo Fun (Medium) Blue Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics Software

Upon plugging in the device, the mouse worked immediately! The pen also works as a mouse or as a pen/brush for drawing applications.

The mouse is nice because it allows you to free up a USB port if you're using a USB mouse. Power users will need more from a mouse though. If you're anything like me, you prefer a mouse with many more options than this one provides.

Installing the drivers and software allows you to access the settings and tools that make this device versatile and customizable. The Bamboo software also allows you to customize the buttons. Left-handers will greatly appreciate this! Be prepared to spend some time tweaking this unit to your likes.

The software included with this device is a nice to have. Many people who buy this will already have or need full blown Adobe Photoshop. Adobe Elements gives you everything casual users need. The Corel application is nice to play with. But other than a few "macro" type functions I have yet to find anything I can't already do with Adobe. Perhaps newer users may find the Corel product more user-friendly.

    Pros
    + USB connection
+ Works on XP and Vista almost plug and play - before software installation
    + Nice customizable software
+ Nice bundled applications - Adobe Elements and Corel Draw
+ No additional power adapter needed
+ Traditional or pen mouse for casual users
+ Small size is perfect for users not using the mouse

    Cons
    - The scrolling zoom function does not work uniformly on all applications
    - The mouse with this model will not suffice for power users
    - Default settings require a lot of adjusting for graphics editing
    - The tablet would have been ideal with several additional USB ports

Overall, the graphic artist or visual junkie NEEDS one of these. If you are a casual user, it is worth getting one on sale. The small model with pen only will meet most users' needs.

    Enjoy.

  • Intuitive and lots of fun!

    By A2Z60PVKWFO3SW on 2007-10-15
I was up and running in less than 2 minutes. You plug the mousepad, put in the installation CD, and you are ready to go. Once the software is installed, an excellent tutorial pops up to give the user basic competence.

I've been using the pen with a program I am familiar with, Paint Shop Pro, rather than the bundled software. Everything was immediately compatible and worked fine, even with my old mouse still plugged in. The pen is very intuitive - you hover the pen over the pad to guide the cursor, and touch down on the pad to actually edit/move/draw/select. It is much easier than a mouse for fine tuning details on a picture, or for selecting portions of a picture for cropping etc...

The wireless mouse works great too. I love the fact it doesn't need recharging/batteries! We had a wireless mouse before, and it was never functional because it was so rarely put back into the charger.

I was very pleased by the software bundle. What a GREAT value! You get Photoshop Elements 5.0, which is no longer the latest version, but still, it is the Ferrari of photo editing software for scrapbookers and I am delighted to have it. You also get Corel Painter, another photo editing/grapics creating software program. The value of these two programs easily exceeds the cost of this package.

The package also comes with extra pen tips and pen covers.

The only thing I have noticed is that the mouse pad is kind of small, and sometimes my mouse runs off the pad before I have positioned the cursor where I need it, so I have to pick up the mouse and reposition it. This is becoming intuitive so it isn't much of a problem, but if you have a choice, I would consider getting the medium tablet.

All in all, a very useful, intuitive, and fun product.

  • Akward, but very useful for graphic design...

    By A2RHV42BTJSVON on 2007-09-29
I was intrigued by the idea of a pen that writes onto my computer because I love drawing and writing by hand. I also have a friend and a brother who are very good at graphic design, so I thought, "Ah! The perfect gift!" As, a Vine Reviewer, I had to test it myself, and although I am no graphics wiz, I am decent enough to know whether or not something works well.

First I would like to note that the software bundle that this comes with for the price of $100.00 I believe it is worth it. The Corel Painter Essentials is a wonderful program, although somewhat confusing for me, it has so much to do on it graphically, I do not think I could ever get bored. Adobe Photoshop Elements is always a must if like most people you're too broke (or too legal) to get the real one. I cannot vouch for the program enough, it is easy to use and fun to play around with! As for Color Efex Pro 2.0, it was hard for me to see the need for it, but I was able to improve the brightness on one of my particularly dark photos with it quite well. Overall, I would say the software is very useful if you just starting to dabble into photo editing and design on your computer.

As for the pen and pad itself, I found it very difficult to get used to at first, but after some use it became a lot easier to move around on my computer with the pen. I would say that I felt the pad was far to small, and that was the main problem I had with it, it was difficult to move around because the pad was so small. Despite that problem though, it really is like using a pen, but on the computer, and it makes it so much easier to do detail work on your photographs and especially draw pictures. If you enjoy drawing, I would highly recommend this product because it just like normal drawing except on the computer.

Overall, there are mild flaws with the product, but if you are willing to put in the time to get used to using the pen then you will find it to be a useful product.

    God Bless & *ENJOY* ~Amy

  • Bamboo Very Fun!
    By A2UQIIJ2CD8REE on 2007-10-05
As a professional artist, an item like this is a dream come true! I've always wanted a pen tablet for my computer, and Bamboo Fun is such a cool one! First, having just bought a new computer, the tablet and its accessories are wonderfully complimentary to it aesthetically. In other words, its sleek, black look and blue, light-up zoom ring just look fantastically futuristic. I also greatly appreciate how easy it was to set up. With this new Windows Vista thing, I've had my share of troubles, but not with Bamboo Fun! Plug it in and pop in a couple of discs, and you're good to go! And, it's so easy to go back and forth from the Bamboo pen and mouse to my old mouse and keyboard. When you want to use the pen (which comes with three extra tips), just take it out of its holder and use it. When you want to use the Bamboo mouse, just place it on the tablet and it's off. When you want to use your old stuff, just make sure the pen and mouse are not on the tablet. It's easy! It did take a while to adjust to using the pen, but when you get the hang of it you'll know just when to use the pen vs. new or old mouse. For drawing, it's excellent! And how cool is a cordless mouse? Maybe a lot of people have them, I don't know, but this is my first! The tablet also has buttons that allow you to zoom in and move about on the computer screen, and the pen has mouse-like buttons. As for the software, they're great supplements for drawing or sprucing up photos if you don't actually have Photoshop, but if you do, they're probably not necessary.

Overall, I definitely recommend a Bamboo Fun pen tablet, and the small version hasn't really caused me any problems yet in terms of not having enough surface area, though I'm sure it's really great to have the larger one (though you'd have to have the desk space for it). The extra software, as I said, is ideal for someone without Photoshop, but I wouldn't call it necessary for those who DO have it. The cordless, ball-free mouse is really neat, but, again, if you already have a mouse it's just an extra frill. This product is excellent as a Christmas or Birthday gift, by the way, since it not only provides limitless hours of creative use and looks really cool, but it also comes in some really impressive packaging!

  • Just perfect

Bamboo Fun (Small) Black Tablet with Pen, Mouse & Graphics Software

This is my first tablet. I've wanted one for years and finally I have one. I have no regrets. Using pen is very intuitive in Vista and Office 2007. Also I'll be using it extensively with Adobe's CS3.3 Suite.

All of the reviews already explain how well designed and easy to use this product is. The truth is, it really does work as advertised.

One of the reccurring criticisms has been that the pen stand is not weighted. I feel the same way. The stand does hold better if it is weighted. What delight to discover that this is very easy to do.

You can open the stand by twisting off the top from the bottom. (No screws or glue)
Once open, I took some plastic wrap and some sand and created a little sandbag tube that would fit the base. I sealed the plastic with packing tape so the sand would not escape.
Make sure that the center is unobstructed so you can twist on the cap.
Close up the base and, "Presto!", you have a weighted base!
Now I can pull my pen out of the base without giving it a second thought. The base is sure to stay in it's place. All it took was one or two tablespoonfulls of sand some plastic wrap, tape, and 5 min. of my time.

  • Easy to Use
    By A20S4G1EXF2OM7 on 2008-07-14
I have PhotoShop on my iMac and really like modifying pictures with it. I have trouble with fine details using the mouse and keyboard. I Googled around a bit and found that Wacom is pretty much the industry standard for pen tablets but were priced more for the professional than the enthusiast. Wacom was astute enough to realize the unmet need at the entry level and introduced a hobbyist version and named it Bamboo Fun. I'm not certain about the Bamboo since it is all plastic but it is Fun. I went ahead and purchased the unit and installed the software. Fired it up and it worked right out of the box. It makes tracing cutouts or blending areas with brushstrokes much more precise than using the mouse/keyboard and produces better results in less time. Even though I did load the bundled software I do not use it since I have Photoshop CS3 installed which is more powerful than the bundled Photoshop Elements. The only knock I would have on the Bamboo is the line width does not track the pen pressure as precisely as I would like. I was so impressed with the Bamboo that I stepped up to the Wacom Intuos PTZ-630 which does have better control and a larger tablet area but at 3X the price. In reality, I tend to use the Bamboo more because it is lighter, smaller and easier to use but if line width becomes more critical I switch out to the Intuos. In summary, I am really impressed by the build quality, ease of use and overall performance of the Bamboo Fun and would buy another if I needed it.

  • Best drawing tablet out there
    By A30X750M8V1XXW on 2007-11-05
This tablet is the best one Wacom has made. Its got a better feel to it and really simulates the feeling of drawing on paper. The control and precision is superior to past versions of the tablet. I've used the graphire series 3&4 and also the intuitos. This one is definitely the one to buy whether you want to upgrade or a first time buyer. You won't be disappointed.

  • Handy for touching up photos, or drawing by hand on your computer!!
    By A1X2B7H1P11DXH on 2007-11-26
Bamboo fun can be just that~~fun!! It comes w/ some great software, including the Adobe Paintshop Elements, which is worth the $100.00 cost of the Bamboo Fun alone. It was SO easy to install, that even I, who am not the most computer knowledgable person (I have to get my daughter to do all the techie things) had no problems whatsoever installing it. It's a blast playing with your photos, adding your own captions, touching up pictures...and drawing pics. I've tried using it in emails, and writing on my blog...it's a little more difficult, but you can do it. I'm still working on that one. One thing I don't really like is the response time of the pen and mouse. I'm sure that is something that you just have to get used to over time, but I felt that it lagged behind on what I was doing. You can use the mouse any time it is hooked up to your computer, but again it's slow to respond, and you wind up waiting on it to catch up with you, so not really worth it. So far I've been using mine strictly for Adobe Paintshop, simply because it's fun and it works great for that. And we're huge picture takers around here, so we've been having a blast with this feature. From reading the other reviews, I'm seeing that there is alot I'm missing out on with this, so I'm off to try some new things...wish me luck!!
If you're a photo buff, like to touch up, write captions on your pics, or just have fun for scrapbooking, this is the perfect tool for you!!

  • Good quaility, good price
    By A1M6TI7NSZ8D1I on 2008-05-04
So far, I am enjoying the Bamboo Tablet. It has a little less capabilities than the Intuos I was using, but that has not been a problem. I like the shape of the tablet and the screen area the pad covers; it is a wider screen design. I really like the buttons and the scroll wheel. I love the fact that the USB unplugs from the tablet, since that is what broke on my Intuos. The mouse is standard. The only think that has bother me so far, is the pen. it is a standard Wacom pen, but I was used to the Soft Grip, so I got a rubber pencil thingy to solve that.
For the price, I feel like I got a bargain, plus the best of a Wacom tablet. If you do any kind of computer graphics and have no tablet, I highly recommend getting this one to see what a world of difference a tablet can make.

  • GREAT!
    By ABS0PTGTGVZ8I on 2007-11-02
The tablet size its ok for the price, and if you'r not exactly a professional and just wanna have fun with a pen on your drawings (a lot easier than using a mouse!)and pictures this is perfect for you.

It's a little triky learning too use it, but when you'r over it it's perfect for editing. You can even use it as a normal mouse for your PC, and it adjusts perfect to your monitor automatically, so if you point the right upper corner of the tablet with the pen, the pointer will be just there on the monitor, you dont have to scroll anymore!

This is the perfect gift for someone how likes a lot digital editing and would just love it.

It's easy to install, it's elegant, has a lot custom cool features and can be adjusted just the way you like it.

It'll work with almost every software out there, and even some of them have special features for those how have a Tablet!

  • Great Tablet
    By A2UQSPR0ER7FZX on 2007-12-23
I bought this for my 12 year old daughter for Christmas for use with her laptop. She loves it. It is very thin and the size of a mouse pad. The small size is a good feature because it fits in her messenger bag for easy transport. The product works great. You can either use the mouse that comes with it or the pen. The pen is easier to use for writing and drawing. The supplied software installed with no problem and is easy to use. At first my daughter thought she wanted a larger tablet but after reading the reviews I bought the small size. She is able to do everything that she wanted to do with this one and she is happy with it. I would recommend this product.

  • A great second tablet.
    By AA8LLLFVQOMYO on 2008-10-14
I have a Wacom Intuos 3 6X11 tablet. I absolutely love it, but it is not very portable. I decided to go for this bamboo fun tablet so that I can have a backup and a portable tablet to take with me for my laptop. First of all, I love the fact that the bamboo has a detachable USB cable. The $400 Intuos doesn't even have that. Second, the Bamboo has a slight texture on the surface compared to the Intuos, this really does contribute to a natural pencil on paper feel. These are two notable features. Don't let the fact that the Intuos has more pressure levels (1024 vs. 512) for the bamboo discourage you. I tried them both side by side and could see no difference. Buy this now!!!

  • my son uses one of these at school
    By A2AY83K9N60V38 on 2007-11-09
I was very excited to see this offered in the prime program. It would have given me the opportunity to try it at home and see if it'd help my autistic son take more of an interest in doing homework. Unfortunately it looks like the order was cancelled or the manufacterer decided not to offer it after all.
(incidentally, I'm sure I would have had a great time playing with it too)

  • Groovy little tablet
    By A2HIQF8EEF5GT1 on 2007-11-12
Bamboo Fun (Small) is a great product at a considerably more budget-minded price then it's larger-sized and slightly more multi-featured relations. It's great for everything it says it can do-- very happy with purchase. I hold back on the fifth star rating simply becuase the feel of the pen to the pad can be somewhat hard or harsh where a smoother flow would be better for its purpose. True, this one has only 512 pressure sensitivities compared to double that for the larger tablets, but depending on your level of expertise and need, having 1024 is not necessarily required. I do plan to update to a slightly larger pad in the future, but the size of this one is remarkably effective and comfortable for a small space. I enjoy this product!

  • compact but very functional

Bamboo Fun was a Christmas gift for my grandson. He is enjoying it very much and is having a lot of fun with it. I never heard of it until he asked for it.

  • LOVE it!
    By A1RS0FBORCQDBO on 2008-03-20
I use this with my MacBook laptop, in conjunction with Photoshop, and I LOVE it. I had a Wacom tablet years ago, and when it became obsolete, I just learned to live without it. My husband got this one for me for my birthday, and I didn't realize how much I missed it! It works great with my MacBook, and with my Photoshop CS!!!

  • Great Idea But Not So Simple
    By A1BQ1MMQPPEAF1 on 2008-03-25
I love the concept of this Pen Tablet and it does work great. However, it isn't for the faint of effort person. It isn't as easy to learn to operate as what they say. For me, it took a lot of time to read and understand how to get that picture so you could sign it. It isn't a product error as much as giving the right instructions that are thorough enough to teach you how to really make it work.

  • Very Good Tablet
    By A2WJF6B2NIRSGA on 2008-04-27
I decided that I NEED a tablet after my sister's boyfriend got her one for her birthday. She got an older wacom but I thought it was so fun.
After doing some research I found that the Bamboo Fun is new tech and perfect for beginners and those who are on a budget. However, the small size and price tag do not mean this is a low quality product.

    -Inexpensive
    -Great design
    -No problems or malfunctioning
    -Easy set up

This has easily become my very favorite tech toy.

  • Worth the money
    By A1417C8ULREA2R on 2008-05-09
Having no experience in tablets before, I went on the word of a few friends and family members who told me Wacom was a good brand.

It arrived very quickly, brand new, and was very easy to work with.

You can just plug it in and start using it! After a while I figured out there were drivers for it (blond moment I guess) and installed them, as well as the software that came with it, which made the tablet better (of course). The pen is sensitive enough for a beginner and very fun to work with, very easy to get the hang of. The software is very nice too. I recommend this.

  • An Extremely Worthy Product
    By A14JW3IMTIYDU8 on 2008-05-10

    Design:
The Bamboo fun has a great design, which I found to my suprise is much thinner then in the pictures. It has a sleek black finish, and looks very nice overall. My only complaint is that the buttons up top look not so great in my mind, and I dont use them much, so they are a waste on me.

    Functionality:
I was a bit skeptical of the Bamboo's small size, but I wasn't disappointed when it came. Again, its better in real life then in the pictures. Its very portable, yet big enough to have some fun on. I bought it mostly to help me with some graphic design, but I find myself using it when ever I can. The textured surface is amazing, and feels just like paper. Its very easy to navigate with, easier then a mouse, and allows for greater precision. The pen to is nice. The bottem half looks great and functions great, while the top half is a bit cheap looking. The pen stand I found to be worthless, but didnt effect the way I look at this tablet at all.

    Overall:
If you are a serious designer, or just want to doodle, or want to have the fun of writing stuff in your own handwriting, get one of these. Ive heard that to get the most out of it, you have to install one of the discs to be able to change the settings, but I havent and I am extremely pleased with this. You get more out of it with windows vista, but I am sure it would be perfectly fun with any other OS. Basicly, GET ONE.

    Pros and Cons:

    +Great Design.
+Great feel, its just like paper.
    +Great Functionality.
    +Very useful.
    +Extremely fun!
+Size is surprisingly good for most peoples needs.
+The bundled software is Great. It alone exceeds the cost of the Bamboo, and photoshop is simply the best.

-Mouse is worthless. Dont even try.
-You need Windows vista to get the most out of it. (Luckily I have Vista)
-I found the buttons on top to be quite worthless also. And they look bad.

I am very pleased with my tablet, and Wacom has done a great job making it. They are the best in tablets!

  • One Annoying Thing You should know...
    By A4VA9M42PKHQQ on 2008-10-02
    Hi,

I have to say I do like this tablet for the money, the only thing you should realize is that there is, I believe, ONE MAJOR DESIGN FLAW.

The USB connector is on the top LEFT Side, which means for the 90-93 % of us whom are RIGHT HANDED and want to keep the tablet to the Right of the Keyboard...The Cord is TOTALLY in the Way.

Its a good tablet, just a very bad placement of USB cable. Should have been in the Middle to accommodate placement on either side of keyboard.

I think next time I would spend a little more for the Wireless one to avoid this issue.

  • Useful, well designed
    By AIBGWEY79CBH9 on 2008-10-10
I bought the Bamboo fun to write notes with math formulas that I could store on my computer (without the hassle of scanning paper etc). The Bamboo hardware is perfect for this. It's well designed, functions just as advertised and integrates perfectly with my Macbook. The resolution is probably not good enough for any professional photo editing, but just fine for everyday stuff.

The only complaint I have is that none of the bundled software lets me write notes and store them as pdf documents (without importing clippings into other applications). I found what I wanted in the application Inkbook, but it's not included with the Bamboo tablet.

Anyway, a great device that I would recommend.

  • Great fun!

This was a great Christmas buy for my hubby the computer geek.
He is really enjoying all that it can do, and has mastered using the pen for almost all his computing needs.
I'll be upgrading it to the bigger size soon!

  • Good for high school art

Bought this product for my daughter who is in a high school art program. She uses it daily for school and fun and, after a short learning curve, says it is quite easy. She doesn't use the mouse much. Seems very much worth the investment in an early birthday gift for her.

Very pleased with this purchase. Product was brand new and everything in the description was included as promised. Delivery was quick. I would definitely order from this seller in the future.

  • Great alternative to a "mouse".
    By A107O42DGIBR10 on 2008-02-24
This is my first tablet and pen set and I really am enjoying myself. I am learning to use the software and want to learn how to use this fun tool to sketch plans, details, etc. As a designer I am always sketching and this presents an easy way to get them all into my laptop! I am getting there......

But the added bonus turns out to be the fact that it works terrific while I also have my wireless optical mouse installed without interference. This set brings a mouse but I am spoiled with my small Microsoft optical mouse which is smooth and a breeze to use. The Bamboo's mouse is a bit sticky for me so it just sits on a shelf as a back up.

The pen is a joy to use and I find myself using it more and more often as an alternate to my mouse. I perform ergonomic worksite evaluations for staff at my workplace and I can see using this sort of pen and tablet as a viable alternate to a mouse for those individuals having issues or to prevent the repetitive motion injuries often seen in work environments.

It is really a "FUN" toy and my son is also using this set for his serious photography editing and he loves it.
