• Easy, versatile, and fun!

  I wanted to get started with digital scrapbooking, but most websites I read focused on Photoshop Elements, and purchasing digital paper and elements individually. I wasn't sure that I wanted to spend that kind of time and money, so I decided to give Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 4.0 a try. I've been using this software for several months now, and I really like it! It comes with lots of ready-made templates, which really are completed layouts--just add pictures. The templates are fully editable, though, so you can still add, delete, resize, or move any element or picture. You can also start from scratch, and build your page using the wide variety of backrounds and elements that they provide. If you aren't satisfied with their offerings, you can use any papers or elements that you can find on various websites--the program recognizes most regular file types (such as .jpg, .gif, and .png). Though some of the provided graphics are typical clipart, and not really what most scrappers would use, they still offer quite a lot of backgrounds and embellishments that are wonderful. (And contrary to another reviewer, you CAN change the color--right click the item, choose "edit photo", then the "adjust color" tab.) The software also comes with a pretty good user's manual--that seems rare for software these days! Very useful for getting an idea of all the different things you can do with this software. You can also save completed pages as a .jpg or .pdf file for printing or to give to other people.
  There are a few things I'd like to see improved. 1. I'd like a better tool for finding and importing the photos. 2. I'd like more templates in the landscape format. 3. I'd like a viewer that would show 2 pages side-by-side.
  **Important Note** Read the system requirements carefully! The entire program gets loaded onto the hard drive, and takes over 3 Gbytes. It's also a resource-hog when running; if your computer is too old, you will NOT have fun trying to run it!
  All in all, this program is easy to learn and use. It gives you as much or as little control over the layout as you want. And with all of the various graphics that are included, it's an incredible bargain!

  I own just about every scrapbook software on the market. This is as photo realistic as you get without actually using real embellishments. It offers a wide variety of ready made templates as well as blank templates and projects. The negatives: The way the embellishments are organized is confusing and time consuming to choose. You cannot change the colors of the papers or accents; you have to use what is available. When you save your document, it will only save it to its own file, so you can't print it from another source...leaving you out of luck if you don't have a wide format printer. This software is good, but leaves much room for improvement.

  I had a previous version of this software and really like the improvements they made to this version. However, some of the pictures are still very lame. I wish they had a free downloadable website for more pictures or allowed you to edit their pics. Other than that, I like the search they have now when you're looking for a particular pic - for example, you can just type in "dog" and it will show you all the dogs.
  
  I also like that you can save as pdfs so you can share with others that don't have the software.
  
  Overall, I like the product for what I'm using it for.

  I have had this program for about 2 weeks and have loved it. It has totally changed the way I scrapbook. It is full of great and inventive ideas on setting up an attractive scrapbook page. You have so many choices whether you are creating one from scratch or using one of the templates. The photo editor is great as you can edit and crop photo's to just the size you need them. The only thing I was disappointed in at first was you couldn't copy and paste into another project from it, but after using the program for a few days I realized that I could copy and paste into it and it worked just fine that way. I had pages printed yesterday and they were so nice. I would recommend this to anyone who wants to be creative, design beautiful scrapbook pages but who doesn't like the clutter and mess of paper, scissors, ribbons, tags etc.

  I am disappointed that I ordered this product and waited almost 3 weeks to receive it only to have it arrive on a DVD. I do not have a DVD drive on my computer so I double checked the description and sure enough it states the requirements as DVD or CD drive. You actualy have to mail the DVD back to Nova Development at your expense via media mail and they send you a series of CDS in exchange for the DVD. I was on hold for over 25 minutes trying to get through to Nova Development to find out how to exchange it and it has now been 20 days and I still have received NOTHING in return. I am very disppointed!!

  We've used Scrapbook Factory v2.0 for many years and finally upgraded when we went to Vista. The V4.0 product so far seems to be better in every way and is a pleasure to work with. We have a few kids who create stuff on it also and they figure out more than we do and create some incredible stuff.

  I didn't keep this software because I didn't know that it was a Dvd and my computer doesn't have that capability. I didn't have any problem returning it. It said you could trade for cd's but I couldn't find any information on how to do it. I would purchase it again if the circumstances were to change.
  
  
• Read the licence agreement

  If I had known that the licence agreement had so many use restrictions I would not have purchased this product. After reading the agreement, I sent it back without even trying it! It contains a heck of a lot of stuff for the limited (or nill) distribution of your creations allowed.
  
  
• Poor Customer Service from Nova development

  Nova Development Customer support is extremely unresponsive. Purchased product for gift and I needed CD's versus DVD to install. After a 67 minute wait using cell phone minutes the customer service rep indicated they could not help and that no manager was available but we could call back later and attempt to speak to someone. Not sure if we have reached the point to scrap and try another vendor but wanted to share support line is very poor.

  I purchased another software and it was not vista compatible, and returned for this one. I love it. so easy to use, a ton of graphics and templates. I use these pages I create to insert into a home made movie. Everyone loves it.

  THIS SOFTWARE IS EXACTLY WHAT I WAS LOOKING FOR. VERY EASY TO NAVIGATE. IT ALSO HAS LOTS OF GREAT GRAPHICS & EMBELLISHMENTS, NOT CHEEZY COMPUTER CLIP ART. HAS LOTS OF ELEMENTS THAT I USE IN REGULAR SCRAPBOOKING SUCH AS EYELETS, RIBBONS, & VELLUM. I ALSO BOUGHT Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Designer (Jewel Case) $9.99. I GUESS IT'S OK FOR THE PRICE, BUT IF YOUR LOOKING FOR A MORE REALISTIC FINISHED PRODUCT, SCRAPBOOK FACTORY IS IT. MY 10 YR OLD USES THE Creating Keepsakes Scrapbooking Designer & SHE'S HAPPY WITH IT BUT IT'S MORE DIFFICULT TO NAVIGATE. I WOULD HIGHLY RECCOMEND SCRAPBOOK FACTOY DELUX TO ANYONE. • Review of Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 4.0

  I purchased this item online. What I didn't know is I was receiving a DVD version. However, included in the box was a form to send the DVD back to the manufacturer for a replacement set of CD's (7 total). Five of the CD's are required to load the software program, the other two are additional templates and graphics. I've only used this product a couple days, but it is very easy to use. It's easy to import pictures, select templates, etc. So far, I really like it. I plan to use it for greeting cards, Holiday gift tags, and many other projects. I highly recommend this product.

• Nova Support Stinks

  I purchased this product over 4 months ago and while it does work very well I discovered a glitch in the program. If you edit any of the clipart (change colors, tint ect.) save your project and then reopen the project the clipart has diagnonal stripes cutting across the picture. Not only does it display on the screen but shows up when you print. We were the 1st people to report this problem (so says the tech rep) and it has now been 4 months and no fix yet. I will not buy any of their products in the future.

  After getting a new computer with Vista I had to replace a lot of my software due to not being Vista compatible. The Scrapbook Factory has turned out to be one of my more favorit products so far. Even though it won't ever replace scrapbooking the old fashioned way it is so much easier and faster to put an album together. My daughter just got married in November last year and has been deployed to Kosovo, she's in the Army Reserves as a medic. I made a minuture wedding album for her to take along using the Scrapbook Factory program. I got it done within just days instead of weeks. I do have to be honest and also tell you that it did take a little time to figure out everything but once I got it things went well afterwards. Erika

• Number 1 if you want flexibility

  I have tried at least 4 products now and this one is the best, especially if you want to design you own pages from scratch. It has TONS of backgrounds, fonts, etc. Many of the other products only have pre-designed pages and that limits what you can do with the product. We use it for school projects also and need flexibility. This also has lots of pre-defined pages so if you want fast it's all here.

• Scrapbooking made easy (and editable)

  I absolutely love this software. Being a creative memories fan, I am now a digital convert. This software makes it extremely easy to scrapbook at a whim (especially with a laptop). No pulling out papers, cutters, worrying about mistakes. You can edit, make duplicate pages or books to share with others, save them on CD and put them in a fire safe for safe keeping in case of a weather tragedy or house fire. The embellishments are plentiful, the templates make getting started very easy to do or provide a few ideas to go at it yourself. I'm so very happy I've purchased it - I've created over 30 pages and am very happy with how they turned out. Only downfall is printer ink -- I get about 28 pages out of a tank of ink that cost me $25, but I guess when you figure costs of papers, tape, and time -- it likely evens out the cost per page.

• Great product for the money

  I received Scrapbook Factory Deluxe 4.0 as a gift in February. I am very pleased with the versatility of it. You can either use their templates or you can design from scratch. They also have a good variety of different projects other than scrapbooking. My one complaint is that I have VISTA and cannot view or use the bonus graphics because they are not VISTA compatible. I think if they are going to advertise as VISTA compatible, the entire program needs to be. The bonus fonts are very nice though and easy to install.

  If you want to be able to export your images to post on the web or to have a third party printer(i.e. Shutterfly), don't buy. If your going to print your own pages this will serve its purpose. Most of the embelishments look "cute". Not great graphics, but you get what you pay for. I ended up buying Elements so I could export to Shutterfly and have them print my albulms. If you keep the box and all the extras Nova Development will refund your purchase. Too bad I didn't have the box and UPC code!!

  This software is user friendly, easy to use. I opened it up and was able to immediately create beautiful scrapbook pages. You can explore other possibilities and create any project from scratch which is a lot of fun. I recommend this product for all scrapbook fans. It is really worth its price. You can also crop pictures, choose from a wide variety of embellishments and get totally creative, and the best part, have fun!!
