Here Come The 123s [CD/DVD]x$9.62
    (30 reviews)
Best Price: $9.62
Your favorite alt rock band, THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS returns with it's 2nd Children's album. Follow up to the smash hit album, HERE COME THE ABCs, THEY MIGHT BE GIANTS returns with the CD + DVD of HERE COME THE 123! Featuring 24 Brand New Songs PLUS 24 Music Videos.
They Might Be Giants are like the handful of best-selling authors who also happen to be doctors or astrophysicists: They do two things so well--in their case kids' music and grown-up music--that it seems a little unfair, like the talent scale has been tipped too hard in their favor. Like Here Come the 123s, the follow-up to 2005's Here Come the ABCs, and TMBG's third kids' record. Here the Johns--Linnell and Flansburgh--are up to their usual smart shenanigans: In "Seven," a bunch of skinny numerals crash a stranger’s living room before settling in for some cake, and in "Nine Bowls of Soup" an ichthyosaur is so enamored of soup he works out a way to balance a multitude of bowls on his scaly body. The brilliance isn’t limited to the lyrics. The Johns know a thing or 1-2-3 about crafting seriously jammable music. Highights include “High Five,” a flippy, freewheeling dab of disco, and “One Everything,” a juiced-up, jangly rocker with a message for listeners ages 3 to 93: an untidy room actually is an insult to the omniverse. --Tammy La Gorce

Great For Kids!! One of Our Favorites!! By AC2EGRJTJYVBA on 2008-08-20
We received this DVD/CD last week and the kids have been watching it over and over. Normally, I'd find this obsessive behavior concerning, but the educational quality of the video makes this one of the best DVD's I've seen for children. My kids are ages 6 & 8 and the video is geared so that both of them benefit from the lessons.
We really liked Here Come the ABCs [CD/DVD Combo], but we think this one is actually better. The music is well-composed and shows a great deal of musical sophistication underneath the silliness, playing with different musical styles and time signatures. The instructional value for the overall DVD is exceptional. My only complaint is that I can't get several of the tunes out of my head! Your kids will soon know that there are, in fact, animals with three eyes and be able to correctly identify a nonagon. Excellent video! I give it my highest recommendation.
Here Come the 123s By A2R5UU48ZS2VLZ on 2008-07-07
We love this DVD and CD. My son is already doing addition problems from watching this video. We watch it in the car and everyone enjoys the lyrical masterings of They Might Be Giants. My husband and I loved them before they did kids music, and we love them even more now!
TMBG rocks! By AP0K5Z8B3N0KZ on 2008-07-16
My son cannot get enough of this CD/DVD combo. It's the first thing he asks for when he wakes up. It's really helping him learn to count and he's only 18 mos. old! The songs are really catchy and adults will completely love this too.
Everyone loves They Might Be Giants! By AI1Z1VL45YKL9 on 2008-08-01
I was so excited to hear that TMBG is doing children's music. I listened to them in college and high school and loved their quirky
sense(s) of humor. The tunes are really catchy and fun. My very musical 3.5 and 2-year-old girls love this DVD/CD combo. I would highly recommend this for all babes and toddlers.
Kid Music You Will Love - TMBG Rocks Again By A1LCQHX7SIAKHA on 2008-08-02
I must admit, my husband and I are long-time TMBG fans (since the 80s), but with this CD they score again - these guys just rock with creativity! This is a wonderful CD - muscial, playful, educational - our daughter can't get enough. The songs get her dancing in her carseat, singing, and thinking/asking quesitons. This is the kind of music that when you drop your kids off at school, you don't rush to switch off the cd and turn on the radio when you get back in the car. You happily get these songs in your head. For Playhouse Disney viewers, you will recognize a great deal of these songs from the video shorts that have aired. We like this the best yet of all of TMBG's "kid" offerings.
- The new schoolhouse rock.
     By A13Y64KMGDS2N7 on 2008-08-04
My 2 and 4 yr old boys were introduced to these songs and videos through Noggin, and we all loved them so much that we ordered them. It's a great deal too, the CD and DVD for only $12.99!
In my opinion this is the best thing for kids since the schoolhouse rock cartoons. I only wish that NBC, CBS, and ABC would play them in between their Saturday morning children's programs so that kids without cable could see them too.
- Great for school !
     By AAR8WJT2PMLX6 on 2008-08-18
As a kindergarten teacher I have to recommend this cd to anyone who may play it for children. It's fantastic. In fact, you should purchase the cd/dvd combo b/c the videos are great. There are extras with puppets and more songs on the dvd. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.
- We Love the 123s!
     By A1DSXQ0TO567D1 on 2008-08-19
My son loves listening to They Might Be Giants on Playhouse Disney, so when I saw they had a CD/DVD collection of their 123 videos, I couldn't wait to get it for him. I'm certain it's been helping him learn his numbers. He's not quite 2, but can already count and sing along with the songs. Without a doubt, this was a great purchase!
- Great
     By A3ROZE6J7Z68M3 on 2008-08-27
We love this DVD. My twin 3 year olds ask to watch this all the time and the songs are catchy so we don't mind playing it all the time.
- Where's the Infinity video?
     By A4V77BS6NX633 on 2008-08-28
We're puzzled that we don't have a video for "Infinity" on the DVD.
It is the song right after the road trip on the CD. Is this just our copy? Does anyone else have an Infinity video on the DVD?
We do love this (4-year-old plus parents - long time TMBG fans; saw them in the 80's at Cabaret Metro in Chicago).
- Catchy Music
     By A301L3SKYPJW57 on 2008-09-01
This reminds me of "School House Rock"...catchy tunes, fun videos, and learning. I often find myself humming some of the songs when I'm by myself. My daughters, 3 and 2, love the dvd. They laugh and sing along and I would recommend this to anyone with small children. I would also give this as a gift.
- Forget "NO!", this one's great
     By AYOO12C9Y2T95 on 2008-09-01
If you gave up on liking the TMBG kids music because of NO!! (which was forgettable outside of 2 cuts) give them another shot.
Within 3-4 spins and you'll be singing along:
"Zeros.....zeros mean so much"
"There's only 1 everything..."
"We want cake! Where's our cake?"
"Six knows how to stand on its head.."
"On Monday, I never go to work..."
"Nine pirate girls...pirate girls...pirate girls"
"Grab a circle with both hands and twist it, that's an 8..."
"High five..UP TOP!...low five..DON'T STOP!..slap me five...WOO!...down low...too slow"
Besides teaching the basic 1-10 numbers, TMBG also teaches a little beginning addition, the concept of placeholders (in "Zeros") and days of the week. There's also an attempts to teach the concept of odd and even numbers
(which is a pretty catchy song but doesn't quite buttonhole the concept all the way for kids). You also learn to count seconds (the venerable "Mississippi" method) and that the prefix "tri" means "three" ("Triops Has 3 Eyes")
Besides the catchy songs, the videos themselves are bright and colorful cartoons that compiment the songs well. (Especially for "Seven Days of the Week (I Never Go to Work)". Recommended highly.
- love it

- Kids LOVE it!
     By A20J1YMS8SOWLG on 2008-09-09
My children love this video. It can keep them entertained even when nothing else can. My 4 year old is learning how to add because of some of the songs. Must have for long car rides too!
- Choc full of TMBG goodness!
     By A2KL42T3YO30KZ on 2008-09-10
I'm 17, and I listen to this (and Here Come the ABCs) obsessively. Good for children, but also everyone else. They're just so catchy!
- Awesome Cd!!!
     By A378SK5RZBMZFA on 2008-09-22
My 3 and 5 y.o. LOVE it!!!! So do I, I find myself humming the songs throughout the day. It's a great combination of kid music with a grown-up funky beat. I almost forget it's meant for my kids.
- Great CD! My 3 year old loves it!
     By A27OXHA2MCV4UB on 2008-09-22
TMBG did a great job of making learning about numbers fun! These guys are great. We were introduced to them through the snippets at the Disney channel and the zero song and then we followed the podcasts. My 3 year old can identify numbers and talks about the numbers songs i think in large part because of this CD. It is fun and the songs are even catchy for the adult crowd.
- 2-year-old LOVES the JOHNS!
     By A1HSAYB9K98OGX on 2008-09-30
My 2-year-old daughter loves these songs and videos. She used to be afraid of the yellow puppets representing the Johns between videos, but once I explained to her who they were and that they sang the songs she loved, she warmed to them. Now she lovingly requests them "Johns!" and sometimes wants me to skip past a song to get to the between song puppet piece.
Great songs; much better than ABC's. A great album.
- My Kids Love It!!!
     By A1H7DYP1LGR71L on 2008-10-01
Wonderful! I have 2 kids under 4 yrs. They both sing along and enjoy the quirky video. Very fun.
- Love it!
     By A25PZGBOEO2IZ0 on 2008-10-03
This is by far one of the most enjoyable things the kids and I can listen to in the car. I love the fact that they don't realize they're learning. It's a great CD that I recommend to anyone with kids.
- OMG TMBG YES!
     By A2ODI0OTY2L2B5 on 2008-10-06
OK, so I'm a fanboy.
For parents like me, this is a can't miss. Just enough of a hint of the vaguely misanthropic humor from Flood, catchy dance tracks like Apollo 18, and the consistently idiosyncratic vocal stylings of John and John.
For other parents, it's fun, vaguely educational, and at 2:40 a track, it will keep the shortest attention span very happy...and my kids really like it.
But I like it even more.
- Not for my 2 year old
     By A3QQ0STYT1JLKW on 2008-10-08
We bought this combo pack as well as the comes the ABCs cd/dvd pack. Found the CDs overrated. The DVD is still OK, our son watched it somewhat, (since we did not have his regular programs... so he sat for the animations) (though we both found it real annoying, though it was little better than ABCs dvd). The CD however is a different story....our son starts crying whenever we put this CD on. I think the words are overshadowed by the loud music and he prefers less overcrowded music or simpler cleaner music. It might be a good CD for some kids or mebbe even the older kids... but my 2 year old can't stand it !! Same goes for Here comes the ABCs.
That being said, since each kid has his own likes and dislikes, you might be the other half who likes it ! To give a background my son positively adores Jim Gill's (sneezing song and other contagious tunes), and 101 toddler favourites (4 CD pack by Music for little people).... we have had endless road trips just because of these life savers (though as parents,we ended up with a headache hearing them far too many times). So if your toddler has the same interests..you know 123s pack/ABCs pack is NOT FOR THEM.
- Worth every penny
     By A14HDKCIEO2P7F on 2008-10-14
My daughter wakes up every morning, runs to the DVD player and points to the CD case. What a great way to start the day. With all the annoying kids' music out there, TMBG is a welcome change. It's well done, entertaining and educational.
- kids music for adults
     By A8UASNRHDM5BF on 2008-10-15

- Excellent!
     By A24KAG0GOBKJHN on 2008-10-21
We love the DVD and the music. TMBG is very clever in their music writing, and they make the music fun and enjoyable for kids and grown ups alike. There's great variety in the style of music, and it's all educational, so that's a plus. Our family of 4 highly recommends ABCs and 123s!
