Transformers - The Scorex$64.89

(92 reviews)

Best Price: $64.89

After the release of this summer’s movie blockbuster Transformers and Transformers The Album, fans clamored to hear the orchestral score. An online petition received thousands of signatures; the fans have spoken! The result is Transformers The Score, composed and produced by Steve Jablonsky. A blockbuster franchise has been born and apparently a rabid fan base has taken the music on-screen to heart.

Ask, and ye shall receive: When Michael Bay's Transformers came out in the summer of 2007, a soundtrack was issued that gathered a collection of pop and rock songs. But fans clamored for the score so arduously that it was released a few months later. Was it worth it? Steve Jablonsky comes from Hans Zimmer's stable of composers, and anybody with half an ear could have guessed it. Jablonsky's other main influence is pretty much the last 15 years of summer action movies: There's nothing here you haven't heard before, but it's pretty nifty blaring out of a multichannel set-up--though an iPod may do the trick as well. The CD opens with the two main themes ("Autobots" and "Decepticons"), which will be alluded to throughout, particularly in "Sam on the Roof;" the bad guys fare better as "Decepticons" delivers a bigger bang, while the good Autobots get the usual elegiac choir. But forget about subtlety: The best tracks are the full-on aggro ones and are easy to spot: They have titles such as "Frenzy," "Scorponok," "Downtown Battle." Note that half the tracks sport an asterisk indicating a "different version in film," which seems odd, since the album was prompted in large part by fan demand--wouldn't sticking to what's in the film have been be a better way to indulge those who really wanted to hear these cues again? --Elisabeth Vincentelli MPN: 298812 - UPC: 093624992196

  • Jablonsky's Epic Action Score Is An Amazing Standalone Listen

    By A27CHILBK6HIL2 on 2007-10-10
First let me set some things straight. I am a follower of everything Remote Control Productions. Hans Zimmer is my idol as a filmmaker and his music inspired me to become a writer/director. I follow everything Zimmer and everything Zimmer related, and I definitely tracked this score closely. Steve Jablonsky stated through a Soundtrack.net report before the film's release that a score was planned. The movie was released and people realized no score was out. Why did people go crazy? This happens all the time, if the score wasn't released with the film it just means the composer and his/her team didn't have enough time to compile an album. I'm glad people showed their support, but honestly it was always planned for release with the DVD and Jablonsky released a statement saying so. Anyway, great to see the support since we are likely to get that 2-Disc release we've been hearing about. Now on to the score.

Anyone familiar with Michael Bay's films should know that Jablonsky worked all the way back to Armageddon for Michael as an additional composer. So this relationship was a long time coming, and it's amazing how well their creative minds work together. The Island was Jablonsky's first solo effort for Bay and with Transformers the RC Team sound can be heard throughout. The score is wall to wall great music. It's hard for me to pinpoint a favorite track although Skorponok, Soccent Attack and Arrival To Earth come to mind as standouts. This is pure action scoring at its finest. It really isn't a complex score. You have a theme for the Autobots, a theme for the Decepticons and then the overall heroic theme for the film. A little mix and mash of Hans Zimmer style and you have one helluva action score. Score enthusiasts have to admit that Jablonsky borrowed heavily from the Batman Begins score, but in good nature. Also, who knew Jablonsky could pull some tears from listeners with Bumblebee Captured.

Overall this is a superb scoring effort to the type of movie it's accompanying. Sure, it's not the most original and complex score we've seen from the Remote Control Productions group, but it's one you can listen to over and over again. I'm glad the score is finally out and hopefully we'll be getting that 2-disc complete score that has been rumored if this release sells well. Good job, Steve.

  • Terrific Score -- Finally It's Available! :)

    By A1O81FLRG50RHQ on 2007-10-13
I went out to purchase the score right after I saw the movie for the first time, and was dismayed to find it wasn't available. Now, after several months of waiting, us film-score aficionados finally have it. I am extremely impressed with it, as I was when I first heard it in the movie.

I very much like the "close," personal feel of the recording; it's like being in a small studio with the orchestra, as opposed to a large concert hall. There's plenty of action music from the film ("Scorponok"; "Downtown Battle"; etc.), but there's also a terrific mix-in of the slower, elegant thematic music as well as the "inspirational," pieces. Also, a pleasant surprise: "Sam at the Lake," and "Witwicky." These are very nice "fun" and "mischievous" pieces that recall some of the film's terrific comedic moments, and make for a nice change of pace from the other styles on the disc.

The music is very powerful, emotional, and one shouldn't be surprised to find your foot tapping along to it. This score is a must-have for all film-score buffs.

  • Heroic, Moving, Epic

    By A9O7KT7DVPXZ3 on 2007-09-10
As I'm writing this article, this score still has another month before it's release. But I've heard the music on the film, and it's nothing short of monumental. Steve Jablonsky has created a powerful musical identity in this album. It has moments of comic relief and suspense, emotional impact and lurking evil, and, of course, heartpounding action. But the strength of this album comes from it's epic thematic core. Jablonsky has created a host of innovative themes for all major parts of the film. The insidious, dark motives of the Decepticons are heralded by the ominous chanting of a male choir, the US Military leaps into action with a quick-paced, brass number, the mysterious Allspark resounds with a theme of wonder and awe, and the Autobots charge into the fray with a colossal and incredibly heroic fanfare. Jablonsky creates moments so moving, so powerful, and so epic, you'll find yourself swelling with hope, joy, and pride. Don't miss it.

  • Yes, the real deal is finally here.

    By A3KZUBM6S477EQ on 2007-10-09
After months of sleepless nights, mid-day grumbles, and thoughts of suicide, my cure has finally arrived - and boy, it was just what the doctor ordered. Okay, so it wasn't that bad of a wait, but still, I was bummed that we were stuck with the "other" soundtrack (Ya'll know what I'm talking about, yes, *that* one) To make this review short and sweet, I strongly recommend this OST. It's VERY moving, I mean there some real quality on this CD. Just listens to tracks like "Autobots" "Optimus" "Bumblebee" "Arrival To Earth" "Bumblebee Captured" "Sam on the Roof" "No Sacrfice, No Victory" and you be the judge. Get this CD, it's awesome.

  • Transformers the score

    By A3F72KNJ327NRC on 2007-10-10
So, after all this time, we finally get Steve Jablonsky'a score to Transformers. I wasn't really sure about haveing Jablonsky score the movie since I really only heard his work in Michael Bay's production of the Texas Chainsaw Massacre, which, sorry to say, wasn't anything to write home about. As the movie started I was very surprised by the opening theme for the Autobots heard over the prologue. I really kinda stopped noticing the score until the Autobots came to Earth. Then I was hooked.

Maybe it's because I was so engrossed in the film itself, I really didn't notice how good this score is. Sure, it's a shameless rip off from Hans Zimmer's earlier scores...but then again...so is POTC...one of my favorites. Alot of major score critics are going to rip this score apart like Megatron ripped Frenzy apart, but what makes the score fit is the fact that it hits every mark, just like POTC did. I was surprised at how much emotion was in this score. The Bublebee Captured is one of the saddest tracks on the album. I have to say, aside from the Scorponok track, which is a clear immiation of the Kranken track from Dead Man's Chest, the action music isn't the best. Sure it's heart pounding, but it is sub-par to the brilliance of the "awe" music such as Arrival to Earth.

So in closing, don't be surprised when this score is reviewed by critics as a mess of a score. But just because a score may not be orginal, doesn't mean it can't be fun and exciting and inspriational. I'm sure a lot of this score is going to make its way into my "Cardio" mix on my Ipod. Deffinately worth a listen.

  • Amen and Hallelujah
    By A2DWKPGAXH3INC on 2007-10-10
The drumbeat pounds, the music moves relentlessly, wonderfully, and, though I have heard it over and over, I never seem to be bored. I put it in the player when I am driving the interstates and at other times when I simply want to immerse myself in sound. Sheer power and its own majesty.

  • Finally a movie that gives the sterile MV sound purpose ...
    By A21M6XJHHBQSEC on 2007-10-11
Even if I'm hard pressed to find good words about Hans Zimmer, I'll have to admit that he helped many composers to stand on their feet, and all of those didn't take very long to become more creative than Hans Zimmer himself.
If you wanted to sum up Transformers in one sentence, then you could say: Steve Jablonsky is doing Hans Zimmer way better than Zimmer himself.

Unfortunately, that says little about the freshness and quality of the score itself. If you are familiar with some Media Ventures scores, you'll know exactly what to expect. Depending on your personal preference, that's either enormously welcome or pathetically unoriginal. Personally, I vote for the latter. Drum loops, drum patterns, small percussion, big percussion, synth percussion ... nothing revolutionary.
Big low brass for action, sweeping strings to tickle some emotion out of an otherwise mechanical and sterile sound.
It's profoundly ironic that the music doesn't give sense to the movie, but rather vice versa: the content of the movie, with robots from outer space invading earth, is giving the mechanical Media ventures sound some, if little, meaning. Without the movie, this would just be another MV/Zimmer clone.

As usual, the music has little substance, but appeals to those who don't look for depth, but the occasional adrenaline rush. Transformers will neither add, nor detract from your life, and quite frankly, just like the Pierce Brosnan Bond films, it wasn't designed to do either.
The entire score sounds like it consists of variations on one and the same cue. May it be "Arrival On Earth", "Autobots", "Bumblebee" or even "Cybertron" - there's little difference in tone or thematic voice leading. In a movie that deals with typical Good Vs. Evil, it's quite an achievement to make the sound for both parties practically identical.

Transformers presents neither depth, nor diverse music, nor interesting orchestrations, and not even fresh thematic material. Half of it sounds like an even more adrenaline-pumped version of Batman Begins, which seems to become the new template for MV scores after Gladiator.

If you're a fan of Media Ventures, and their disturbing and aggravating scheme of presenting musical fast food, you don't want to miss out on this.
But if you consider yourself a little more tasteful in music, save your money for upcoming Christmas releases.

  • What a talent! A Great Score for a Fantastic Movie!
    By A3TPNC3TKGCCEI on 2007-10-28
The Transformers Movie was utterly a fantastic movie to watch, but truly the music score, created ever so fantastically by Steve Jablonsky, pushed it to an even higher level of enjoyment. I'm very happy to have this album as a permanent part of my music library. Kudos to Steve to a job well done.

  • Highly dissapointed - Hardly any songs from the actual movie
    By A2UK0XKRUG85V0 on 2008-01-06
****Read the Comments people have made and my rebuttals. There seems to be some confusion.****

I have about 7 songs from the movie, as well as some with dialogue from some of the scenes from the movie. I wanted to buy this cd thinking that I would get the few songs that I did not have from the motion picture. I was sorely disappointed as when I received the cd most of the titles noted that they were different from the movie version. If I hadn't have heard the songs before I purchased this CD, then I probably would have liked this release a little bit more. The fact that I hear a song in a movie and purchase a cd thinking I will be getting the same thing I heard from the film, and get something totally different is wrong. That is like ordering a camaro online, and in my drive way, I get a sebring. I do not understand why they did not release the actual songs from the movie, that is very disappointing. I felt cheated listening to the tracks trying to find one vaguely similar to what was in the film, and only finding about two (You're a soldier now) and I cant remember the others, since I haven't listened to the CD since the day I received it in the mail. Beware, if you are looking for exact replicas from the original movie, you will be sadly disappointed. I love Hans Zimmer, and Steve Jablonsky should be more like Hans was in releasing Gladiator. Besides learning from him, he should actually release the music from the motion picture like Hans does. You don't see Hans releasing a bogus version of the gladiator soundtrack do you?

  • Steve Jablonsky's score finally lets Transformers grow into their own after more than 20 years
    By A1DRVFI6H2PF0W on 2007-10-09
I'm the guy who started that online petition to get this score released so take that into consideration as to whether or not I'm biased in this review. But with that noted: it cannot be said enough how beautiful Steve Jablonsky's score for Transformers is. It is epic, majestic, often haunting, at times downright alien... and completely glorious throughout. It is in large part because of Jablonsky's score that I think Transformers as a franchise has finally matured into what it had the potential to become: more than a line of children's toys, but something with soul that all ages can enjoy. And Warner Bros. Records did a terrific job in engineering and producing this CD. If they've been working all this time to get it right, then I'm rather glad that they did the extra effort because the audio quality is *amazing*. And these aren't just the tracks that you remember from the movie either: most of them are significantly longer than what we heard in the film. My favorite tracks: "Autobots" (epic and heroic), "Decepticons" (Jablonsky REALLY conveyed the utter alien nature of the Transformers here in a way that's never been done before: "Decepticons" is music for mechanized Lovecraftian horror), "Optimus" and "Bumblebee" both reflect the soul of their respective characters, "Scorponok" is going to cause speeding tickets all over the place just like "Duel of the Fates" did so be warned. And the heart and soul of the album: "Arrival To Earth", without a doubt the most sought-after and asked-for theme not just from this movie but from the entire summer of 2007. This is the track from the scene when the rest of the Autobots come to Earth. This also is considerably longer than the movie version. This album is already a classic movie soundtrack and I am delighted and thankful that it is finally available. Absolutely recommended and let us hope that Warner Bros. Records will see how well it sells and release the 2-disc extended album that we've heard might be coming :-)

  • All Hail Megatron
    By A2PSKCZ60O3PFJ on 2007-10-09
The outcry by filmmusic geeks and Zimmer enthusiasts around the world was heard when there wasn't a score release for the movie "Transformers", now we have them album in all it's unoriginal glory and I must say despite it not being all that new, it's a blast to listen to. The movie has turned out to be my favorite movie of the year, but I can't say the same for the album since "Lair" from the great John Debney is my favorite album of the year.

Without a doubt, my favorite cue of 2007 has to be "Soccent Attack" which is the kickass music for the scene when Blackout wipes out the Army base. I just love how we hear the horns making that loud dramatic statement which is then followed by the male choir chanting the deceptacon theme. I don't know exactly what about that track drives me nuts but I just know I love listening to it. I won't be surprised if it ended up in my 25 most played list on iTunes by the end of this week.

Other tracks that have their charms are "Autobots", "Deceptacons", "Scorpinok", "Arrival at Earth", and "No Sacrifice, No Victory". "Autobots" is particularly interesting one to listen to. I don't see what female choir has to do with giant alien robots, but hey it works well. One thing I do wish though is that they had added the great piece of music for the shot right before Blackout transforms into a robot. It's a very suspenful piece of music that was great to listen in the theaters, but unfortunately it's not on the album. There's always the complete score to look forward to.

The similarities between this score and the one for "Batman Begins" as well as the "Bourne" Series are undeniable. I'm guessing it was a case of temp track gone mad. It does a bit distracting at times when you hear the string ostinato from "Batman Begins" or "Bourne" on the album, but then again what score from the Remote Control composers is entirely original. (*wait for hate mail in 3...2...1.....*) But that's not to suggest that the album doesn't have it's originality. The deceptacon theme is a great and powerful theme which as far as I can tell is original. The Scorpinok motif could also be original I guess, but the bass lines does bear a striking resemblance to that of bass lines from "The Kraken". But like I said before, despite not being an original score, it is a lot of fun to listen to.

If you can look past the similarities between the this and other blockbuster scores then you will be treated a pretty fun album. Even if you have the promo album I would still recommend this since it has a lot of tracks not available on the promo. Not to mention the sound quality is a lot better.

  • Great Score, Been waiting forever
    By A2V7OGC2645LDU on 2007-10-10
I signed the petition that Christopher Knight started, which asked for the release of this score. I am glad i did it because this has to be on the best scores i own.

The two main themes/songs, which people will want are:
    Soccent Attack
    Scorponok
Arrival to Earth (one everyone wants)

This soundtrack is phenomenal and i wouldn't hesitate buying it at all. At the time of the review i think all the copies are sold out. I preordered mine with one day shipping so that i could have it before i went on my trip to FL. This soundtrack is amazing and i cant wait till i am back home to start driving my mustang with this awesome music (don't get a ticket because of me please). If this score sells well, an extended edition will be released, so please, BUY IT.

Is it fear or courage, which prevents you from buying this score?

  • Powerful and moving,
    By AW1TA3L9ZVWGW on 2007-10-12
Absolutely beautiful. A great blend of choirs and electronic instruments, of techno rythms and classical ones.
Sad, sensitive, menacing, noble, playful, futuristic, this score has it all.

  • One of the best scores I've ever heard!
    By A3MKP9NY8YHWVD on 2007-10-13
My brother and I have both been listening to film scores for over 20 years now. We've grown up on movie scores by John Williams, James Horner, Jerry Goldsmith, John Barry and Hans Zimmer. Basically, the best of the best.

This score is one of the best I've ever heard! It's incredible. I'm so happy it got released, and I'm so happy that we signed the petition to get it released! The movie is awesome, and the score is stellar!

He made sure to include on the CD all of the best pieces of music from the movie, including Arrival To Earth, and Scorpionok. It's just a great spine-tingling, adrenaline pumping ride, as exciting as the movie!

  • A must buy!
    By ALRTX5AN0NT5O on 2007-10-15
Well, I've read so far all the good and no so good reviews and want to contribe my 2 cents.
I've been listening to various scores that I own like MI2, Point of no Return from Zimmer, Star Trek by Jerry Goldsmith et. al., Tron by Wendy Carlos, etc, etc...

But to this day, I never had heard such an impact-lasting score like Transformers from Steve Jablonsky. True, he's a student from Zimmer, no denial, when listing to the score and put in the others from Zimmer, you notices bits, parts and cues from other music that has been already heard by his teacher (i.e. similar guitar riffs from MI2). But fortunately, they're not too many and not too "copy-cat" like.
Since the arrival of my CD last week, I only listen to this CD, because the new mix-down is far superior than the 52 track promo score. The 52 track is made for the movie and you can hear it. This score is trimmed for listening, it got twice the power than expected.

Some of my favourite tracks includes:

    "Autobots":
a heroic, yet graceful introduction to our heroes of my childhood. When I always hear this track, I got Optimus Prime in mind.

    "Decepticons":
is a lurking, threatening and a slow built up track, that has the kind of "umcomfortable feeling" to it. Supported by the choir, it describes best that the Decepticons are an unstoppable force coming like a storm from far away and that's there's nothing you can do about.

    "AllSpark":
what I like is the solo-celli, that gives a calm momentum to it, while the guitar drives forward. The choirs set you in a mood like seeing a overwhelming sacred monument before you, which you like to touch it, but yet don't dare of it's beautifulness and uniqueness. When the drums and choir again kicks in, you know, how important this live-giving AllSpark is and why it must be protected.

    "Optimus":
Just listen to the added flute-solo and compare it to the movie scene version, where Optimus Prime projects the holographic coordinates of the AllSpark at the observatory. A major difference! You can literally hear Optimus' hope of peace.

    "Scorponok":
Throws you in the middle of the action, no time to rest. Running drums makes you believe that beast is after you.

    "Cybertron":
Tells the listener the story of the devastated planet. Best described by Optimus with his words:" Our planet was once a powerful empire, peaceful and just. Until we were betrayed by Megatron, leader of the Decepticons. All who defied them, were destroyed. Our war finally consumed the planet and the AllSpark was lost to the stars..."

    "Arrival to Earth":
The most sought after track! When the Autobots crashed in their protoform to earth. How much better and epic could you introduce these robots from Cybertron, that captured the hearts of the kids from the 80's?

I don't want got into length, so get this CD, you won't regret.

  • SO GOOD, MY HEART WAS THUMPING!
    By A2QL9S0IAN8KJ on 2007-11-02

...I kid you not. The first time I played it through, my heart was thumping.

This soundtrack, literally, knocked me off my chair. Its ingenious use of instruments and choruses. This is a wonderfully explosive score. It runs the gamut of feelings: emotional (Bumblebee Captured, No Sacrifice No Victory, Arrival to Earth), funny (Witwicky), touching (Bumblebee's theme), powerful/scary (Scorpinok, Downtown Battle), impressive (chorus in Decepticons), creepy (Frenzy), awesome sound effects/chorus (You're a Soldier Now, Downtown Battle), etc.

I have listened to this CD at home, in the car AND at the office (obviously turned down!) and am not tired of it yet. The use of some instruments is v-e-r-r-y cool. Jablonsky could not have done better. PERFECTION is all I can tell you!

This one is the gold star of my movie soundtrack collection!

  • Not to impressive
    By A2B0MX4RIN2AD1 on 2007-11-05
I am proud to say that i'm am one of the many thousand fans that signed the online petition to get the Transformers score released. After all is said and done, now that it's here, i am not too impressed.

So much of the score that the fans hoped for is not even on the cd. Parts like:

    Bumblebee vs Barricade
    Prime vs Bonecrusher
    The Decepticon 'rollcall' theme

    ..to name but a few.

I do not regret buying the score, because i believe that Mr.Jablonsky deserves his dues but i am not happy with what was put out by the studio.

I later found the ENTIRE score, as it is in the movie, online and downloaded it. This is how i know that certain tracks are unfortunately missing from the official score. The only track that is not on the online PROMO CD is the Autobots Arrival track, which is a fan favorite. If you bought the official score just for that track, then your in good shape.

  • Good Score, Too bad no Optimus Voice over
    By A1WWGK7ZRD5U7C on 2007-10-10
I'd give this 3.5 stars. I was one of the petition signers urging the release of this soundtrack and pre-ordered it from Amazon.com. I am generally pleased with the soundtrack and glad to add this score to my collection.

One disappointment is that it doesn't have the voice overs where Optimus Prime is speaking, particularly at the very end of the movie where he is looking up into the sky and sending his message to any other Autobots out there. I really liked that voice over and hoped it would be in the soundtrack.

The soundtrack is rather repetitive it seems. I'd rank this as a "decent" soundtrack but certainly not an "excellent" soundtrack or one of my favorites. It has a great main theme/score, but also seems to have filler tracks in order to make a normal length album. Eleven of the twenty tracks are marked as different from the film versions; I'm not sure how they are different.

  • get this soundtrack!

let me tell you i recived this today in the mail and im glad i ordered it because its selling fast ive had trouble finding it where i live, the people at walmart up here have know idea what a score is, steve jablonsky did an awsome job on this soundtrack way better then the album version the main tracks on the cd that i love is "Autobots", "The All Spark", "Arrival to Earth" witch is what im listening to right now two weeks ago i read about the promotional score and i just ot that and its very good there are some tracks that arnt on this album that i guess will be put on a 2 disc set that i read about i hope that who ever reads this will consider buying this album add it to your collection get it before its to late.

  • Good music
    By AF8LUEIGO1I3I on 2007-10-12
I really enjoyed the score for this film. Even though you hear some of the same in different tracks. I didn't mind it. The only thing i didn't really enjoy was the song that played right when optimus and megatron started fighting in the movie. It sounded to much like the terminator theme.
    Other than that 4 stars.

  • What can you say but...... WOW!!!!!
    By A1HKRKKLKUR0MX on 2007-10-17
I've listen to this several times and like it more and more each time... It is about time this was released... I like every single piece of work on this album... If you loved the movie then I would say - you will really love this album....

  • Simply hideous
    By A15OPPLYXSI595 on 2007-10-18
Words can barely describe how awful this music is. It is vacuous beyond belief, utterly soulless, and quite soul-destroying for those who remember how great film music once was.

  • Worth the Wait
    By A30PYC4MQ8CB5D on 2007-10-09
The Transformers score is, without a doubt, one of the most beautifully composed musical scores that your ears have ever heard. I became a fan of Steve Jablonsky when I heard his work on "Command and Conquer 3." He has given meaning to a briliant movie that I have proudly seen 6 times (4 times in regular, 2 times on the IMAX). The score really stood out on the IMAX, and it stands out here on this CD. Just listen to "Arrival on Earth" and "Scorponok." Those two pieces, along with the other 18 tracks, bring Transformers back into the mainstreem like never before. Warner Bros. has mentioned the possibility of a 2-disc set of ENTIRE 90 minutes of music if this CD sells well. I feel that will not be a problem, seeing as how so many people demanded the score. And, now that it is out, we can all smile and rest easy.

  • Amazing!!
    By A20SYGSCXKAYRG on 2007-10-09
The title says it all. I have waited FOREVER it seems for this score to come out and wow, Steve Jablonsky sure as heck delivered! It's awesome!

  • A complete rip off
    By AGX2K0FMS0IVL on 2007-10-23
The CD case clearly states 12 of the 20 tracks are NOT FROM THE FILM!!!!!! But, how can you read that from an online photo. The final battle music, the best of the film, is not even included. What a huge disappointment. Much of the music not included on the CD can be heard on disc 2 of the DVD set. If you are expecting to hear most of the music from the movie, do not buy this CD.

  • The surprises keep coming.
    By A2JKOQOG1W6TXM on 2007-10-25
To be honest, I keep asking myself about the merits of a film based on a bunch of toys. I question my utter enthusiasm for anything related to the movie, including the score. And every single time, this movie silences the questions in my head. I haven't bought a movie score since The Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King. It was in my belief that there was no movie out there that cannot possibly match or overcome the grandeur that the score trilogy brought into my life.

But I guess I was too young and way over my head when I first declared that. This score blows me away. There's nothing particularly "grand" about it, but it sends chills down my spine. The score is uncomplicated; you have the main themes for the good guys, the bad guys, and then pieces from the movie, with a few tweaked here and there with the chorus I really didn't notice in the movie. What this score DOES, though, is give me the thrilling epic feel. It's an empowering feeling. I particularly love the solemnity of tracks "Optimus" and "Bumblebee", and "SOCCENT Attack" was absolutely smashing.

This CD is really worth something.

Music makes the movie, and Jablonsky certainly came through here. I'm utterly thrilled and moved by this whole collection and I highly suggest all artists who need something to inspire them to buy this.

When Transformers was released in theaters this summer, I was one of many who rushed out to the local Best Buy to purchase the score. To my surprise it wasn't available. After an online petition received thousands of signatures, Warner Brothers finally released the album several months later.

Composer Steve Jabolonsky, whose other credits include music from: The Island, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, and Dragon Wars, brings this film's score to life on a rock solid album from start to finish. Every track is worth the listen.

Using the obvious influence of friend and fellow composer Hans Zimmer, Joblansky's score sounds like a cross between Pirates of the Caribbean, and Batman Begins. Jablonsky borrows a lot of cues from Zimmer. The standouts are "Scorponok," "Optimus," "The All Spark," and "Arrival to Earth." These are probably the best tracks on the album, but in all honesty, there isn't a bad track included on this full length album. "Autobots" and "Decepticons" are also fantastic tracks.

Though much of the album is filled with action tracks, Jablonsky manages to be melodic and sad with "Bumblebee's Capture," and "Sam at the Lake." The 66-piece string orchestra and 18-piece brass orchestra actually recorded this score separately. Everything was mixed together at the Sony Scoring Stage in Culver City, CA. The entire score contains about 90 minutes worth of music, with six different themes.

The classic "Transformers" theme does not figure into the score, but Joblansky did work on a new version of it. This could possibly be in the expanded full score release if Warner Brothers decides to release it. That will most likely be determined based on sales of the initial album release. Complete score albums are fantastic, usually containing every piece of music written for the film that never make it on the initial album's cut. Joblansky did also write the score for the trailer music, but it intentionally had no relation to the score from the film. He also wrote the music for the "Transformers" Activision game tie-in, which was released this summer.

  • Transformers Delivers entertainment!

This is decade for big movies, and this movie, Transformers, delivers. From Steve Jablonsky's super soundtrack, to the witty and quick dialogue, to the good acting, and Hugo Weaving's voice for mega-bad Megatron (not to mention Peter Cullen's take on Optimus Prime, the good Transformer leader), this action packed thriller has it all. And it does not cheat you out with a 90 minute teaser of a movie. It clocks in at 2:20, and virtually every minute of it involves some level of intrigue or action.

I would recommend this to everyone, especially males from teens to sixties. Anyone who likes Hans Zimmer's music will appreciate Jablonsky's score. This is good entertainment and a good investment for a motion picture.
