  • Packing Cubes are Surprisingly Helpful - and this set is the best price

    By A3977M5S0GIG5H on 2007-11-03
Regardless of which type of luggage I'm taking (rolling duffle or structured rolling bags) these packing cubes are extremely helpful with organization inside. They allow me to compartmentalize similar items like underwear in one cube, socks in another etc. I've also been happy with them for electronic stuff - I use one for powercords and cables (for laptop, Zen player, camera, mobile phone) and other small attachments like my memory card reader for the digital camera etc.

Very useful - and I've had some of these cubes for many years so they do hold up well. I like the Eagle Creek ones a little better but the Rick Steves set is by far the best price. And, Rick Steves is a travel guru by the way - if you don't own some of his books you're truly missing out. They are the best travel books on the market. Check out the Graffiti board on his website for additional info and a taste for his tips and recommendations.

  • Combine with space bags for best results

    By A2S5NBCBPZTTOP on 2007-09-05
This is a great value for packing cubes, but when I first utilized them while backpacking, I found that they encouraged inefficent packing of my shirts and undergarments, and they served mostly as springy constructs to keep my luggage from closing at all. My solution: combine these with travel-sized vacuum "space bags" (whatever maker is fine-- I have Eagle Creeks) to squeeze these down a notch. The mesh construction helps the air to circulate out of the package, but the cubes themsleves help keep everyhing organized while they're all squeezed in there and keep the bags clean.

  • Surprising capacity!

    By ALVMIRJ1GLQTH on 2007-08-03
These bags hold a lot more than I first thought when I received them. They worked great for keeping things organized, both in my suitcase and later in my (Rick Steves!) backpack. As an extra perk, the small one fits perfectly in all hotel/ship safes, so I was able to keep my valuables together. I'll be buying more of these!

  • Perfect for Rick's Convertible Bag (or your bag!)

    By AI0J1D8K0Q8A9 on 2007-09-11
We own two of last year's version of Rick's Convertible Carry-on Bag. Lived out of them for 2-1/2 weeks in Europe each of the last two summers. We also bought TWO sets each of these Rick Steves' packing cubes, which exactly fit inside his Convertible Carry-on Bag (2 large and 4 small Rick packing cubes perfectly fit inside his bag - or eliminate one small cube to allow space for your dopp or toiletry kit in the bag.) If you are familiar with Rick's travel philosophy (travel light and carry-on) these cubes are a perfect compliment to his bag - or any bag you pack. They are see-through for ease of finding what you are looking for, and add virtually no weight to your bag. They keep everything organized, which keeps you from unpacking the entire bag each time you need one item. For more on Rick's travel philosophy and travel suggestions get his book Europe Through the Back Door. Invaluable.

  • An absolute essential for packing now!

    By A2T5EZ5ZDAO96Z on 2007-09-28
I bought these for a trip to Europe when I wanted to lighten our suitcases. I couldn't believe how much I loved them. They are so much lighter than any organizer bag or lingerie bag. I'm going to buy more--I'm never traveling without them again. They are feather-light and collapse when empty. I wished I had more to pack my souvenirs in for the trip home. Such a simple, easy, convenient way to pack underwear, gloves, umbrellas, etc. and be able to find them in your suitcase.

  • Better than Tupperware
    By A1WRSJGXH3K0KL on 2007-12-08
For some reason recently I used a small Tupperware box to pack my socks for a trip. This was fine till I had worn all the socks and had an empty Tupperware box taking up room in my suitcase. "If only it would fold flat," I thought. Then I found the packing cubes. They are slightly large for the width of my Samsonite carry-on suitcase. But they are scrunchable. They are lightweight with see-through mesh, everything I could want. I plan to buy at least one more set to make a Christmas gift. They're better than Tupperware, but don't use them to store deviled eggs.

  • Packing Light
    By A1GM70CSNYXGE6 on 2007-10-19
These packing cubes were great on a recent 17-day trip to France! They fit perfectly in my carry-on bag and helped to organize my stuff. They were also handy when we were on the road traveling from one village to another and staying in one hotel for only a couple of nights ... just took out the cubes and placed them on the closet shelf ... everything was organized and easy to find.

  • Never leave home without them
    By AZ5HUI3S2F7P on 2008-05-22
What can I say? I've had these for a year now and they go everywhere I do. I'm an American living in Europe and travel every chance I get. Most of my trips are 4-5 days but I have done several one week trips as well. I've only actually ever used the large packing cube once...and that was for a snowboarding trip to Switzerland. I was able to fit all my gear...boarding pants, jacket, thermals, 2 pair of gloves, 2 hats, 2 pair of socks, and goggles...in the large cube and everything else in the small ones. I only ever use the small cubes for regular travel. If I can't fit everything for 4-5 days in those two cubes, I'm bringing too much. I spent 8 days in London and Paris with just the two small cubes and they were perfect.

It's amazing how much fits in there! Just roll it all up tightly and you can fit plenty. This was another one of those products that my husband thought I was silly for buying (that seems to happen a lot). I finally bought him his own set when I got tired of him trying to steal mine :)

The cubes are black mesh on the top and sides and solid black (nylon?) on the bottom. While I wouldn't call the mesh "stretchy" it does have some give to it so you can cram that last t-shirt in there. The zipper is strong...I've packed these things to the max for at least one trip every month for over a year and have never had the zipper split. It's also great when you're trying to get that one thing out of the bottom of your bag and have to pull everything out to get to it...you're not having to pull out socks and underwear for the entire airport to see.

  • They do their job, and are not as heavy as others...
    By A1F1HROYG8722C on 2008-06-29
The nicest things about these cubes are that they are lighter than the Eagle Creek ones, and that they sort of have a springy memory to their size. I try to pack light, I don't want my packing aids to add considerable weight to my backpack. These are the best of the lot, IMO, better than those from Eagle Creek and Magellan's, in functionality, size, and weight. I've given several sets away as gifts as well.

  • Very handy!
    By AEZVPL6CX7UPI on 2007-12-09
These turned out to be very handy, but in a different way than I thought. I'd planned to use them to separate out different articles of clothing, but I ended up using the two smaller ones for organizing all of those cords that go with my electronics. They are also convenient for keeping in the car to stash the car adapters for ipod, cell, etc.

  • Good value
    By A2GY0L5Y2V68EF on 2008-02-05
The Rick Steves Packing Cube set is a good value. Construction is less solid than the Eagle Creek version, but they do meet the intended purpose of the cubes. One of the nicer features is the color coding. I would recommend this item if you are starting to use packing cubes in your travel preparation.

  • Very Nice
    By A1SKOP77DH7TEP on 2008-02-13
Lightweight, flexible and well made. Helps make packing for that next trip a breeze. What more can you ask for?

  • So many uses for them....
    By A2TFH4B7XXM88I on 2008-03-04
I originally got these for a study abroad program in London, with a 1 month jaunt all over Europe. I used them extensively, and now that I'm traveling less frequently, I find I rely on them for every trip! Trying to bring less and less each trip, these cubes keep my packing more realistic for short trips.

  • helps much more than expected
    By A3H56Z1I2I2VZ3 on 2008-07-04
These packing cubes or zip-bags have made a much bigger difference in my travel packing than expected. When I travel, keeping track of where I put which item becomes impossible. Who has time to keep the suitcase in order over a week of on-the-go travel? There's so much more fun and important stuff going on!

So, I've found that being able to think: okay, all the big clothes are in this bag, the smaller ones in this bag, and my extra little things that usually end up rattling around in the bottom of the suitcase where I can't see them are all in the smaller cube (e.g., hairbrush, travel alarm, phone charger, camera charger). Sometimes I wish the cubes weren't black, because this makes contrast bad in dim light, but black has its pluses too.

  • No more compression bags
    By A3QS79SFIAKYW7 on 2008-04-22
In the past, I've used compression bags to organize my clothing when traveling. I decided to give these packing cubes a try since my compression bags were on their last breathe. I am very happy with my purchase and will not be going back to those bulky plastic bags.
The little cubes stored much more than I thought they could - I was able to pack 2 weeks worth of underwear (tops and bottoms) and socks! My only (small) complaint is I wish the set came with 2 large cubes instead of just the one. I ended up getting the eBags Large Packing Cubes - 3pc Set for the rest of my clothes.

  • Backpacking essential
    By A3J06EIECGHB1D on 2008-07-30
I have taken these cubes on two different backpacking trips, even purchasing a second set for my latest adventure.

These are a little different from the ones I bought two years ago -- they've made the side seams a little more sturdy so that the cubes hold their rectangular shape a little better, although they're still flexible and crushable. They're lightweight, breathable mesh, so it's easy to identify what is inside.

I like these better than other brands because they're really no-frills. Just simple cubes that you can stuff and beat up.

These are fantastic for grouping clothes together (e.g. all underwear, shirts, etc.), allowing you to pack and find clothes very quickly. The flexible nature of the bag allows for lightweight, "squishable" use of the cubes -- just stuff and go.

I've seen too many people with their bags a mess every night they hit a hostel -- it's because they've got 30 small pieces of clothing rattling around in a huge backpack. They've then got to refold every item or worse, just shove it back in once the next morning comes. These cubes create order! I definitely wouldn't backpack without them.

  • Easy packing
    By A92ZT2KRHI5EP on 2007-09-10
This is a real time-saving product....especially when travel
requires frequent unpacking. I WOULD LOVE LARGER SIZES AS WELL.
These smaller sizes are easy to find. I need something bigger for "like items" such as dress shirts. Any ideas, Rick Steves?

  • Great for a backpacking trip!
    By A346C2868MRMRC on 2008-06-21
They held a lot and made picking clothes out of my bag really easy everyday! Everyone else's bags were a mess, but I knew I could always find my underwear in less than a minute! It also made separating my dirty and clean clothes idiot proof.. A great buy.

  • A real asset to your RS bag!
    By AY1EF0GOH80EK on 2008-07-29
I recently used these to pack for my honeymoon to use with my RS suitcase/bag, I enjoyed the structure they provided to the softsided luggage! I was really able to pack a lot and have it compressed into convenient cubes for travel; at the airport it was easy to open my bag and have them check my stuff, tidy and swift through security.

I would recommend two sets per RS bag if you want everything in these travel cubes. One set let you lay down a full base layer and then I was able to add larger folded items on top so it was still great, but I would have liked having 2 sets.

Each cube has two zipper pulls so you can get at the contents easily. The material is vented with a bit of stretch, so it is nice to overpack a little and then zip it all down -- like a packing girddle :)

    Highly recommend!

  • Love these
    By A1TZEICZBM8KJR on 2008-08-24
These are so awesome!!!! They hold so much. I am traveling to Hawaii with my toddler and I can get all of her clothes and some of my shirts in one of the small cubes. These cubes are deeper than they appear. What a wonderful idea!! I would recommend these to everyone, and they also fit nicely in the convertible carry on. Talk about being organized.

  • Great product !
    By A1RKCOMTN37OHK on 2008-09-05
I purchased two sets which almost fill a 26" suitcase. Could use another set to fill it. Not as large as they look in the picture but lightweight, very good zippers, and flexible fabric for odd-shaped items. It is amazing how much easier it is to pack with them. Would purchase larger sizes if available for my husband's clothing. Overall very happy with them.

  • A blessing for any traveler
    By A1MER87TMPGTKK on 2008-09-06
This product really helped my husband and I on our latest trip to 3 countries. We didnt bring many clothes, but we could keep them organized in the kits. We knew which clothes were clean and that we could squish them in our suitcase easily to make room for souvenirs. Highly recommended and they even ship free!

  • I CAN'T BELIEVE IT!!
    By A2LC746GTQNT5C on 2008-09-11
My God, I can't believe it!! I purchased these cubes along with a million other items for my first trip to Europe. Do you remember having to dig through your suitcase the first day you arrive somewhere? We usually end up messing up all the clothes, or never actually accessing the items we packed for fear we might. I haven't left yet, but in one of the small cubes, I counted that I packed 18 lightweight shirts. It is just a little larger than a lunchbox. All three cubes fit easily into my 22 or 24 inch suitcase, with plenty of room to spare. You can unpack in a neat fashion in about 3 seconds, get what you want, and your clothes are still in great shape. I chose to fold my shirts for example down the middle, then roll them up from the bottom. This prevents wrinkles pretty well. I still can't believe how much can fit in them with this method!!

  • Love These!!
    By A3LDU3X1COKINE on 2008-10-05
These are great packing cubes, and a great value. I have two sets, and I absolutely love them. I travel about once a month, for either 3-4 days or 7-8 days. Packing is much more simpler, and it's so easy to find things. Unpacking and repacking in hotels becomes trivial as well. Usually, almost everything in my bags is in a packing cube. Awseome product idea, every traveler should have a set.

  • Disappointed
    By A3N6I9XCLBGEB3 on 2008-10-05
Since they had Rick Stevens name on this I expected more. You can go to any department store and get the same thing a lot cheaper at the same quality. So small the largest one will only hold two folded shirts.
