Taking a road trip? The Zune Car Pack gives you everything you need to be your own DJ, listening to your tunes through your car stereo while keeping your Zune charged.

If you're taking a road trip, the Zune Car Pack gives you everything you need to be your own DJ, listening to your music through your car stereo while keeping your Zune charged. This device transmits music from your Zune into an FM frequency that can be picked up by your radio tuner. You can automatically select an optimal station for broadcast using the auto-tuning Zune FM Transmitter. It often takes more than one station to stay tuned in if you drive between different regions with different stations, that's why the Zune FM Transmitter has two presets so you can easily swap back and forth between your most commonly used broadcast stations. To keep up with a long road trip, you can charge your Zune while listening to music in the car. The magnetic storage clip allows you to keep wires out of your way, and the dashboard grip pad provides a great place to rest your device in the car. It is compatible with the Zune 4 GB, Zune 8 GB, Zune 30 GB, and Zune 80 GB.

What's in the Box:
FM transmitter/charger, dashboard grip pad, product quick start guide, product manual. MPN: H9A-00001 - UPC: 882224519847

  • Far different experience...I have one & my experience is superb

    By AJPQGW4NUFDRW on 2007-12-20
*TAKE NOTE: Don't turn your radio on UNTIL you have found a clear FM station with the Zune Car Pack 2. Turning your radio on FIRST seems to prevent the device from finding any clear FM station.

*Some people have had luck tuning with the radio on. The important thing to remember is you are tuning a radio and just like a real radio it may take a little effort to tune it.

None of the harsh negative reviews are accurate IMHO and with respect to these people. It really makes me wonder of their validity in every single claim. The reviews greatly differ from the excellent and flawless product I just received and used. It could be that these well meaning people simply missing something on how to use this very simple and EXTREMELY effective device. My experience was a 100% POSITIVE with ZERO trouble! The Zune Car Pack 2 actually shocked the hell out of me because of the negative above reviews (I was already prepared to send it back). Like most everyone I read the user comments before I buy anything. I called Amazon to verify I could send this product back before I bought because of the horrid reviews above. Sometimes I will gamble anyway with a product purchase like this and this time and it paid off BIG. I got exactly what was advertised and what I wanted in my car.

    1) I live in a VERY URBAN area. Nearly every single radio frequency is occupied. I plugged in the adapter hooked up the Zune used the auto-tune to find a clear station. Turned on the radio, tuned it to match the clear frequency and the sound was flawless. I honestly could not tell any significant difference from direct input. No kidding it works that well and that easy. There are also online resources that can locate some good clear FM frequencies by zip code if you should need extra help. The Zune Car Pack 2 finds the clearest stations for me everytime.

    2) No static at all! Believe me I tried to get it. I shook my Zune like a nut, I shook the transmitter like an ape, I even placed metal objects on the cord and put the transmitter in every weird place I could think of. Perfect no static. I could not make static no matter how I tried (Man, I forgot to wrap everything in aluminum foil...now that may have a chance)! I tried my hardest to make this accessory sound bad and hear the static claims in the previous posted reviews. But the Zune Car Park v2 remained superb.

    3) The Zune pad the is designed to hold the Zune on the dash or somewhere flat. Now I had my doubts about this set-up because I drive rather aggressively. I dusted off my dash and place the Zune on the pad. The thing is rock solid and I would trust it in almost all driving circumstances with confidence except for a hard hitting accident. A fender bender won't move that Zune a bit.

Try it out for yourself. You can always send it back to Amazon if you do not like the way it functions.

Plug in the adapter in the cigarette lighter, plug in the Zune, use auto-tune to find a clear station, turn on the radio, tune it to match the clear fequency and WOW!

The Zune Car Pack 2 is easy, static free, and movement DOES NOT effect the sound at all. As I said before I TRIED my hardest to get static but could not (with the exception of wrapping everything in aluminum foil).

The Zune Car Pack 2 is an excellent product in every respect.

That is what my real-world URBAN experience PROVED to me. I also learned you cannot always trust the reviews you read. Though I would not like to shop without them.

Give it a try as there is really nothing to loose----

I think that the problem is the device is so simple that people are not following the correct process for the device work properly (and the instructions could be better).

Remember to get the clear station tuned with the Zune Car Pack 1st and then turn on your radio and tune to the clear frequency.

  • When will they learn that sub-par isn't good enough?

    By A3TNPXMDJZ8OWZ on 2007-11-21
Let me start off by saying that I bought the 1.0 version of the car pack when I got my Zune earlier this year. I was disapointed in the signal strength (when compared to ones I used for my iPod), but it was tolerable in my car so I kept it.

I saw a video review of the new 2.0 car pack a week ago and it was very positive, so like a fool I bought the new car pack. Signal strength was weaker than the 1.0 model and the frenquency range was cut from 87.5 - 107.9 to only 88.1 - 107.9. I worked with the unit for 45 minutes to find a suitable frequency but had little luck getting a quality signal. Even when I found a "strong" signal it was riddled with pops and static. I have returned this unit.

I think my only good option is to replace my car stereo and connect via aux input or to buy an iPod. Microsoft has sorely disipointed my twice... I guess if they disapoint me a thrid time it is my own fault.

  • Disapointing performance for a 2nd gen.

    By ADJKMC7AO7YN3 on 2008-02-12
I recently purchased this as a gift for my wife to use in her car that does not have a casette deck, nor extra auxiliary inputs.

Having dealt with a similar technology with my Deplhi XM portable player (XM2Go)for my car, (and having pretty good luck with that), I thought this would be a no-brainer.

Unfortunately the other reviews led me to believe this was going to be a gamble, and so I went for it, and returned it shortly thereafter.

While the device appears to be a simple hook up, and instructions were straight forward, I knew I was in trouble once the device kept changing its mind on the optimal FM channel. Now I read the reviews stating to have the radio 'OFF" at first, and even the manual suggests this, so that the device coudl find an optimal channel. Well first try it was 105.7, then it was 89.3, then it was somewhere in the 90 range; meaning it jumped all over the place in a span of under 5 minutes.

Some channels it chose were not free at all in my area, as there were clear as bell radio stations coming in on those frequencies. The few actual 'free' channels it did find and I was able to tune my stereo to were horribly dissapointing. Static and hissing were atrocious, no matterhow I manuevered the Zune or the cabeling. A far cry from my XM FM transmitter experience.

And then when we turned the car on, we noticed it got worse, very much like an old CB radio suffering from EM interference.

The sole reason I give this two stars is the nice and simple interface, the very well lit and sharp display, and the idea of the magnetic clip...all great ideas and useful....if only the device performed.

Granted I live in the burbs of a large radio market where free channels are rare (unlike the midwest), but the bleed-over, static & hissing, and random 'optimal' channels have me scratching my head.

  • Works in Chicago

    By A27OF4C6D2IMVD on 2008-03-08
After being a bit hesitant to pick this up considering the density of the city where I live, I'm really pleased with the quality of the build and the sound of the v2 Zune Car Pack.

It was a bit finicky in bad weather, but the sound quality overall is comparable to any strong radio station broadcast. I also like the that this car pack seems to be made of durable, attractive materials. There's attractive backlighting on both the plug (to indicate power), and the small tuner that indicates the station, and the tuner is very visible for night driving should you need to read the station.

The rubber pad to prevent your Zune from sliding around works terrifically. Despite speed bumps and sharp turns, the Zune stays on the rubber pad.

Again, I'm very pleased with the Car Pack - especially considering the price has dropped now to about $55 dollars. Well worth it, in my opinion, even in a city as large as Chicago.

  • Very Suprised

    By A350OWH2E1G519 on 2007-11-23
At first I was suprised that it didnt get much low channels and so I gave up (at first) but because I put the metal part on the power chord part it was staticy but If you situation is like mine if you plug the pack in regularly and put the tuner part on the passenger side dashboard where their air bag is then alot of channels are very clear and I put the zune on the pad on the dashbaord ( it do get staticy if you move the zune around some) but over all it works fine

  • Works fine for me!
    By A2BM127HMLQYLB on 2007-12-31
I was initially almost scared off by the reviews I read, but decided to give it a go. When I had initially set it up, it was okay, a little static here and there. I did a little research and stumbled upon a website that will direct you to the best radio frequency to use by your ZIP code. Greatest thing ever. The Tuner works like a charm wherever I go without having to adjust it now.

It does what I asked of it to do, sure you can always get better sound from another source, but this was simple and easy. My car has the stock CD changer built in so I didn't want to have to deal with anyhting stereo wise.

  • Glad I did not listen to the negative reviews
    By A3L49B98AZFI32 on 2008-01-08
After reading thourgh the reviews I almost decided against purchashing the Zune Car Pack. I am extremely glad I gave this product a chance. I have been completely satisfied with its performance.

I was able to find an open frequency on my radio tuned the car pack. Done. They could not have made it any easier.

I have used 2 other similiar products and this definitely rates far superior to those. If you are on the fense about this product do yourself a favor and purchase it. You will not be dissapointed.

  • Love it! And I'm technology challenged.
    By A1CFPFQY4VPSPW on 2008-01-08
I received this as a Christmas present with my Zune 80 gb 2nd generation. I love it and it was/is very easy to use. I just plugged it in, tuned it in, and selected what I wanted to hear on my Zune. I was surprised (and so was my boyfriend) at how clear it was. And I love the Zune pad! I have a "luxury" vehicle and I am not drilling holes in my console to mount a holder. And the way my car is designed, there is not any flat places for my device. NOT a problem with the Zune pad! My Zune sits at about a 25-30 degree angle and doesn't move.. even with my crazy driving. I recommend you buy it, you can always just send it back if you don't like it.

  • Zune Car Pack
    By A8E2PC2C8HCIO on 2007-12-07
Works great out in the country away from a lot of radio stations. But in town (where I use mine the most) there is WAY to much static and can't get it to work very good. Would not recommend.

  • Far different experience ... it's garbage.
    By A11RGNI7BWUPFB on 2008-01-01
I read all the reviews for this product on this site and because of the one glowing review I went against my instincts and purchased it. That being said I must heartily agree with all of the other negative reviews.

I followed all of the manufacturers instructions, i.e. letting the transmitter find an empty station before turning on and tuning my car radio. Despite hours of testing the sound was far below an acceptable level and full of static. I've returned it and will look for an alternative, most likely a direct connection to my car's sound system.

Don't waste your time or money on this.

  • Good, but not good enough for the price.
    By A2UC10DENM6JQG on 2008-02-03
First of all, let me say that I have become a HUGE Zune supporter. I first bought a brown 30 GB Zune last year; aside from minor software issues, it was great. Recently, I decided to buy an iPod 80 GB for greater storage in lieu of the new 80 GB Zune, mainly because of all the hype iPod has been getting. Two days later, I exchanged the iPod for the 80 GB Zune; no regrets. The iPod had stubborn software relating to podcast playlist orders and album art; not to mention the horrifically small screen (compared to Zune). The Zune handles these issues MUCH better. In regard to the Zune car pack; if you're looking for a good transmitter, this product is a good option. It has a bright display (although it seemed cheap; it pulled away from the casing when removing the protective plastic sheet), automatic seek function, and the convenience of one less wire through its combination power/transmitter cord. My problem was that it did not transmit any better than my old Belkin transmitter. I already owned the Belkin transmitter; I thought the Zune product would be better, but it wasn't, so I returned the product to the store. Keep in mind, however, that the Zune car pack is designed for the Zune, it works well, and is more convenient and appealing than most after-market products. My advice is to buy the Zune car pack if you're looking for a good option for travel if you don't have wired input into your car stereo; but, buy it from Amazon; they're pricing is considerably lower than most retail/discount sellers.

    Happy Zune Owner.

  • One of the best in its class
    By ANOABZLUC4ZPB on 2008-02-08
If you are going to enjoy ANY fm-transmitter, it is important NOT to expect CD quality. In other words, you are guaranteed to get some static, and you are highly likely to get occasional signal interference - even on the best frequency and device.

I am also guessing some cities / locations are better than others in terms of open frequencies - so fm-transmitters of any sort may be unusable in some locations.

If you are having trouble with yours though, try the following steps (which worked wonders for me):
    1. FIRST use the auto-tune
    2. THEN tune the radio to that frequency (99.5 for Seattle Eastside)
    3. I kept trying until I found the best 2 signals for my area
    4. Using the sticky-grip-pad, I placed the Zune as far from the tuner as possible - so the cord (which acts as an antenna) is almost straight. And I get GREAT sound!

If there was a complaint, I would love to have 4 pre-sets vs. 2, but at $60 with the autoseek, self-charging capability, 2 pre-sets, grip-pad - better value than any other similar device on the market.

  • Put your $80 towards a new car stereo w/ AUX input
    By A2OQ7CJ343PR2W on 2007-12-15
I have a brand new Zune 80 which I love, but I have an older car with a stereo deck that does not include an AUX input. I heard mixed reviews (mostly negative), but decided to give it a go.

I purchased this pack at a local store, took it out to the car to try it and was utterly disappointed. I found a single station that barely came in. I moved the Zune all around the car, nothing. I moved the Tuner portion of the car pack around, nothing. I walked back into the store with it and returned it. Save your $$$ and buy a car stereo w/ AUX input. Amazon doesn't allow 0 stars...

  • Don't Listen to the Negative Hype!!
    By A3RYHFXWZ2R7ZP on 2008-01-10
I recently purchased this item, and have been very pleased with its performance. The transmitter does a good job of finding and holding a strong signal, and the rubber pad actually does a great job of holding the Zune to the dash (better than I expected, actually!). The only minor complaints that I have are that you can't use the Zune volume to boost the volume coming out of the radio, and that at night having the Zune of the dash causes some glare issues, but the cable is long enough to place the Zune on your console, passenger seat, or anywhere else in reach.
There have been several people on here complaining about the quality of sound that the transmitter produces; to these people I say "what do you expect?" You are paying for an FM transmitter. . it won't have as good of quality as directly wiring into your radio, or even as a tape adapter for your car kit, and it's not SUPPOSED to have that quality. You need to expect occasional static, that you may have to switch to other stations from time to time (especially on longer trips), and that certain spots in town will give you some other radio issues, but these are all uses that we expect with ANY radio station that we're listening to. I suggest that you realize that when you purchase this item, and just understand what you're buying. For an FM transmitter for the Zune, this is a great item, and I highly recommend it!

  • Zune Car Pack v2 - good by me
    By A382K95CPZ7NXU on 2008-01-28
I read these reviews before I bought it. Yes, I do have some static. But I don't put that entirely on the car pack. Some of it has to do with the quality of the ripped music. (All of my music is ripped from a CD and not purchased online.) My library has no volume leveling. The music with a low playback volume has more static during the songs and between songs. Kind of like the static on your analog TV when the screen is white. Also, some of it has to do with the environment. When I park in my mom's driveway, all I get is static. In front of her house is clear as it gets. I get different quality depending on which vehicle I use it in as well. It plays better in my car than my spouse's car.

I wish the cords were longer. There isn't enough cord to use the magnetic clip AND place the Zune on the Zune Pad for the dashboard. I need to wrap the station selector around the glove box handle. My Dash is curved, so the Zune pad does not perform well. I don't really like the idea of putting my Zune in the sunlight on my dash anyways. It sits in a cup holder in the console.

The little rubber plug holder (for storing the unplugged cord) on the power plug doesn't hold the Zune plug. I wish it didn't stick straight out of the plug. The cord sticks out at a 90 degree angle from the plug which causes it to be knocked out easily.

Performance has been better than any other FM broadcaster I used with other MP3 players. I don't notice any more static than most radio stations. I believe it works exactly like the product it is designed for. I would expect no static from a direct connection, but this is not a direct connection. The minimal static is negligible. Without a CD player in the car what else are you going to do?

  • THIS ITEM WORKS GREAT
    By A1Y45JSSKP9I5G on 2008-01-10
THIS ITEMS WORKS JUST FINE. I LIVE IN TUCSON,AZ. I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT THE PROBLEMS THAT ARE FOUND IN OTHER AREAS, BUT IN MY TRAVELS I HAVE NOT FOUND ANY SOUND QUALITY PROBLEMS. I SEARCHED MY RADIO TO FIND A QUIET STATION AND THEN PLUGED MY UNIT IN AND PUT THAT STATION ON MY CAR PACK UNIT. THEN PLUGED THE ZUNE IN AND I WAS GOOD TO GO. THE OTHER NEGITIVE REVIEWER MAY BE TO SHORT ON PATIENCE NOT TAKING THE TIME TO GET THIS ITEM TO WORK. IT IS EASIER TO BE A CRITIC THAN TO BE CORRECT.

  • Pricey but works just fine
    By ATP9CD75HKKE4 on 2008-01-15
I almost didn't buy this based on the negative reviews but I decided to risk it and was fully expecting to return it. I was pleasantly surprised when I followed the instructions, tuned in the station, and turned on my Zune. I got clear sound with no pops or crackles at all. I drive over 60 miles into the Sierra Nevada foothills to work and I always lose my radio signal somewhere along the way. With my Zune tuned in I was able to listen to it all the way to work with no problems at all. I did hear a slight hiss when I turned the volume up as high as it would go but it was only when it was switching to the next song. I should also mention that I only have a radio and the speakers that came with the car. This is probably not the best choice for people with expensive stereos that pick up every tiny problem in the sound. It is also a bit overpriced at $80. It does work exactly like it's supposed to though.

  • Zune Car Pack v2 Working Great For Me
    By A3L7DDPQKIW7X3 on 2008-01-16
The Zune Car Pack v2 is working great for me. I just followed the instructions and it works fine. The build is good with some nice touches: the square transmitter/display connects to the round part via magnet. The glowing Zune logo is nice as well (even though it gets covered up when you connect the transmitter.
The first station the Car Pack found worked fine @ home but got a little static/interference as I neared work. The 2nd station was the other way around. The 3rd station is clear all the way on my commute.
The sound quality is excellent, the build is superior, and it works great. I am glad I bought it.

  • Pleased with Zune car pack
    By AGGAGZOKHV204 on 2008-03-11
I am very pleased with this Zune car pack. I was pretty hesitant after reading the reviews when people totally bashed it. I do not notice any background noise when the music is playing. I do have to turn the volume up on my truck louder than when I just listen to the radio, but there is still plenty of volume left if you want everyone else to hear it. It's easy to use and has very convenient features. I'm glad I chose this car pack to use with my Zune!!

  • An Excellent Product, But . . .
    By A2CSYWT7H3IM6P on 2008-03-17
This product works perfectly! The primary reason for giving it only one star is the fact that it is manufactured in communist china.

  • Very well made- wish the instructions were as well done
    By A1LRRRGWD7UE2X on 2008-04-26
I struggled with this device at first. I did exactly as the instructions read and got pretty lousy sound from my Zune through my car. I let the device find its "optimal" broadcasting station with my car radio off, and my music was full of static and sounded worse than an old worn out LP.
So I fooled with it a bit and tried tuning it to a station that I found and that worked great. I am happy with it now.

  • Good Car Pack
    By A1FHN4EAU3ATHW on 2008-07-16
I've had the Zune car pack 4 days; it works quite well IF YOU FOLLOW THE DIRECTIONS! Do not turn on your radio until the car pack locates a quiet section of the FM band. Then turn on radio, tune to the assigned frequency and WAIT about 10 seconds; the radio should show that you are tuned to ZUNE. Now proceed to play MP3 files. If in doubt, re-read the instructions. The signal quality is good provided you are not parked next to a transmission tower. Also remember that the first time you plug in the car pack, even with the radio off, the device needs about 1 minute to communicate with the ZUNE. Wait until this sync is completed. Overall, a good product, a little pricey in the store, better on Amazon.

  • Functionally Rich, but Poor Exectution
    By A2HYPX4O9SVJFJ on 2008-01-21
I would like to preface this by stating that I am not some technically challenged person. I work professionally as a engineer for live sound reinforcement. I am not boasting; I just want you to know that it is not human error producing this bad review.

In terms of durability, functions, and visual appeal, the Car Pack v2 is great. The main issue is the quality of the product. The automatic channel finder malfunctions routinely. Numerous time it found channels on which there is a station broadcasting. In addition, the transmitter is severely underpowered producing a weak and muddied signal. The volume on my stereo must me crank very high with the Zune's volume on 20 to even hear the music. Also, the music is overpowered by the hiss and fuss that accompany it. I played with the device for several hours. I searched manually through every available clear channel with no success. The car pack would not work on any clear channel to which it was set.

I originally bought the product because of one very positive review stating and attributed the bad review to user error. I do not believe that this review we was telling the truth. I think there may be a question of quality in their manufacturing resulting in a large amount of bad item on the market. Whatever the problem, the Zune Car Pack V2 has serious problems that are undeniable given the amount of bad feedback.

In short, I would not recommend buying the car pack. You are better off with a hard A/V connection or a Tape interface accompanied by a car charger.

  • Zune Car Pack - A Little Staticky
    By AGHG0EMDB7KY2 on 2008-04-23
The product is good, it works well and plays well in the car. I like the digital read out on the radio stations and the easy of changing the station. The only issue is that I have to change stations quite a bit to reduce the static.
I had an IPOD player and never had those issues.

  • Crazy price
    By A2OUAFCF5JC282 on 2008-05-18
I've never bought this product yet because I found out it isn't necessary to spend $80 to hear your Zune through your car! I bought an iGrip FM Transmitter (labelled for iPods) at Autozone instead and it works on my Zune 30GB great! If you are on a budget like me, look for other options before blowing money on this.

  • As good as can be expected
    By A359AOA87Q4E21 on 2008-10-27
Any device of this type is going to be subject to the inherent limitations of the technology. Given this, the Zune Car Pack v2 has performed as well as could be expected. Here are the considerations you should be aware of.

    - Don't expect it to sound as good as listening to the Zune directly. The frequency range and dynamic range will be somewhat compressed due to the nature of FM radio modulation. But it's the only option unless you have stereo with a Zune dock (if such a thing even exists), with a stereo analog input jack, or that can play music files directly from a CD or other media. You can also burn the songs to an audio CD but that sort of defeats the whole purpose of listening to your Zune through your car stereo.

    - The frequency scan feature only scans a section of the total range at any one time. You will want to perform the scan several times to find the optimum frequency for your area. And expect that the optimum frequency will change as you drive from one place to another, especially if you have a long commute. In my case, there's one that works best when I'm close to work, and another that works best when I'm close to home. Both are programmed into the two presets on the Car Pack and on my car stereo.

    - Any FM adapter for any music player has to transmit at a very low power in order to conform to FCC regulations and the Zune Car Pack is no exception. The nice thing about this kit is that the wire that connects the control module to the Zune is also the transmitting antenna. If the wire is stretched out, it can transmit more efficiently than the antenna in a compact unit that just plugs into the bottom of the Zune, so be sure not to bunch the wire up if at all possible. Other things that will affect this are the location of your car's antenna and the orientation of the Car Pack's antenna in relation to the car's.

    - If you're in an urban area with a lot of radio stations, you may actually not be able to find a suitable frequency with a low enough signal level that the Car Pack can overcome it. If that's the case, then probably no FM adapter will work for you and your only options will be to burn songs to an audio CD, or upgrade your car stereo to one that can play the song files directly or has an input jack of some kind. My plan is to do this eventually but, in the meantime, the Car Pack is working acceptably well.

  • piece of junk
    By A3S01KZUYNPREX on 2007-12-21
I recently purchased the car pack for my new Zune. However, there was way too much static to even enjoy it. After a while, I couldn't even get any audio from the Zune just from the radio station. I was only able to hear the device depending on my location. If you do buy it keep your receipt. Mine is going right back to the store. Terrible!

  • Over-Priced Junk
    By A29XJRWTQ4YQCL on 2007-12-29
The car pack is an over-priced piece of junk. The sound quality is terrible. There is a of static (even if you do turn your radio on after the adapter) I had to turn the volume all the way up on my Zune and the volume up 75% on my car stereo to hear anything. The other reviewers are right you should save your money and get a car stereo with an aux. jack. Or if you prefer you can spend less than $20 and get the old fashioned adapter that you put in your cassette player. The sound quality is not the greatest, but is much better than the Zune adapter and you are out a lot less $.

  • Room For Improvement
    By A3V2DRC1RRM8TO on 2008-01-03
I've been using this product for about two weeks now, and I must say that I'm not entirely impressed. Before switching to a Zune I, of course, had an iPod as well as an iTrip. Having used the iTrip, I had certain expectations for the Zune Car Pack. I wanted it to be easy to use (which it is) and I wanted it to have enough strength for my radio to clearly pick up its signal (which it doesn't). With any of these FM transmitters, it is obvious that the channel you decide to use doesn't have any station on it so you can pick up a clear signal. With the iTrip, if you wanted, you COULD set it to be on a pre-existing radio station and the iTrip was powerful enough to transmit over it. The Zune Car Pack isn't powerful enough to do this. The other problem I have with it is the fact that there is a constant crackling, like I don't have quite enough signal. With the iTrip this didn't ever happen. Another little annoyance is that when you get closer to the wires of the Zune Car Pack you can either interfere greatly with the signal and cause only static to come out OR you can grab them and act as a big radio receiver and make that constant crackling noise go away. The layout and looks of it are impressive, undoubtedly. Its extremely simple to use, which it ought to be. I'm rather disappointed with its performance though. The transmission just needs to be slightly stronger. Then all of its problems would be solved.

FM transmitters in general are a crapshoot, and the negative criticisms applied to one usually applies to all of the others as well. That being said, this is one of the better models I've gotten to play around with. The signal it produces is pretty strong, and even being in the metropolitan area of a major city, I found a frequency that works excellent without much work. My only criticisms of this nifty little device are the high price and the inability to tune the transmitter below 88.1 (since 87.7-87.9 is restricted bandwidth, they're often home to crystal clear playing through an FM transmitter). A transmitter-side noise filter/volume control would be nice as well, but when this device works for you, you won't need it.
