Quality Product for Less Price By APRTOKCH6WQF5 on 2007-11-03
This adapter has worked perfectly with my 15.4" PowerBook. It's well-made, and in my opinion easier to use than Apple's original. One potential drawback is that it does get very hot, so be careful where you place it.
worked for 3 minutes By A1KWEKNPYH1Z2X on 2008-02-27
I bought this from that brilliant store or whatever, i can't remember the name, but I had it for 3 minutes and the battery light kicked back on, the only way I could keep it connected is if I rotated the cord in the socket everynow and then, It worked for a month and that was it, nobody was allowed to move the laptop because if you moved it then you worked for two hours trying to get the power cord to send power to the computer. This cord was a piece of crap. I'd never buy it again.
Just ok By A1TBVEC62QFBJJ on 2008-04-11
I got this when I broke the original on my Powerbook. I had had a Mccally before on a G4 Ibook. I thought I save a few dollars buying this one. It's been about a year or more that this one's been ok, but now the connection to the powerbox is inconsistent, aka intermittently broken. I'm over it. I'm going back to the Mcaally. With free shipping the price difference is nothing.
You get what you pay for By A3MV8AAE82XM6I on 2008-08-20
I thought that I would save a little money and buy this for my 15 inch PowerBook. It was a major mistake.
Pros:
- Less expensive than the Apple and the Macally cords.
- Sturdier piece that plugs into the computer than the Apple cord.
Cons:
- Constant high pitched noise whenever plugged into an electricity source.
- Occasionally gets too hot to touch, and otherwise it's always very warm when the cord is plugged in.
- Connector to the powerbox has gotten very loose the more the cord has been moved.
- Connector to the computer got very loose very fast; pulls out easily, you have to twist it around and push up on the piece to make it work (I usually use something like a stapler to hold it in place).
Overall:
- This cord is awful. Don't waste your money on it. Go for the Macally (or Apple).
At least it works By A3VS7IZZVC6337 on 2008-02-23
I have this adapter, and I have never had any catastrophic problems with it.
That being said, it shows up like a 45W adapter in my System Profiler (17" Aluminum PowerBook G4). Additionally, if my PowerBook has shut down due to low battery, I cannot plug this adapter in and immediately turn it on. Instead, I have to wait a few minutes for an adequate charge to build up. After that, it will run as long as the adapter is connected.
So, it's not as powerful as the Apple model. However, it's sturdy and reliable.
