Needs some work. By APJ8YIUAPE8WU on 2007-12-04
This product fits very well on the ipod classic 80GB, looks good too. There is just one problem, though it protects the wheel of the ipod, there is nothing to protect the screen. I've had to buy a seperate screen protector to prevent scratches.
cord management feature very nice By A2HB6S4D3G31UW on 2008-01-08
This is a lightweight and generally welldesigned cover for the ipod classic. The rubberized cover is shock resistant and access to the wheel is not hindered by the cover. The cord management system is one of the best features as my old covers left the cords dangling and tangled in my purse. You simply have small indentation to insert the plug and then wind the cord around a raised track and insert the earbods in their spot. The only disadvantage to this one is no easy use clip or belt connector. Even so, after seeing this one on my daughter's ipod, I'm replacing my current cover with one.
Nice, but troublesome By A7BG8D790MLNN on 2008-02-10
On January 5th, I purchased a DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management for the 80 GB iPod classic. As the title suggests, this product is designed specifically for the 80 GB iPod Classic, and therefore may not work as expected for other iPods.
The quick review: Overall, this case offers a good deal of protection, and the cord management feature, if you use the standard iPod buds, is rather helpful. However, without any screen protection, minor-to-major issues with the wheel, and minor issues with the cord manager, this model may not be a wise choice.
This model also offers, on the back of the case, earbud and cord management. Basically, there are two spots to place your earbuds, spacing on all sides to allow the cords to be wrapped around, and another spot to insert the other end of the cord.
In practice, this works very well. However, there's no quick way to easily release the cord once it's been wound. On the other hand, this does mean your cords will stay where you've put them. The earbuds, however, are another story. While they'll stay in well the first couple of times, after a while they start to pop out, especially when you pull them out of an inner coat pocket. However, because of the cord management, this isn't that big of an issue.
One thing that may not be readily apparent is that this model doesn't offer any screen protection. While I opened the packaging expecting it, I was sorely mistaken. Depending upon your usage of this case, that may be a major problem. However, the iPod Classic is supposed to have a stronger screen ... In my own usage, which includes sitting on a desk most of the time, to an inside coat pocket for travel, I've noticed some level of spotting, but no scratching.
Finally, we have the question of whether the case impacts normal usage. Sadly, I've noticed that this case does impact normal usage, sometimes in a very significant way.
The top, for plugging in your phones and placing on hold, and the bottom, for charging and connectivity, are left available and free. The front and back are otherwise completely covered, which means no finger prints. However, the wheel is also covered, which is sadly where functionality is impacted.
Although I've only slide the case onto the iPod once, the front just isn't tight enough, which means that when attempting to use the wheel, either to move through menus, or changing the volume, the plastic ends up negating my fingers motion. Unfortunately, this has happened enough that I was strongly tempted to rip off the case and just go without.
Overall, I'm fairly happy with the DLO Jam Jacket. The fact that there is no covering over the screen, and that the wheel functionality sometimes suffers are in fact fairly major issues. However, the earbud management feature is quite nice, and combined with the improved strength of the iPod Classic screen, this case isn't a total wash.
I give this product 3 of 5 stars, since while the purchase wasn't a total wash, I can't honestly recommend this case above all others, and might indeed be happier with another one.
Cool, but doubles the thickness. By ARQ4B2B1XKNCA on 2007-12-26
The cover for the wheel is cool--something that other protectors I have tried didn't have. The grip material on the side is nice, it really helps you keep from dropping your iPod.
Unfortunately the one downside to this product is that it doubles the thickness of your iPod.
The cover I received DOES NOT have the giant white dot displayed in the center of the click wheel, like in the product picture--which is a good thing! I think it looks better without it.
Not worth it... By A2M8J7WU8JRV3K on 2008-01-01
Nothing to write home about here, does it offer SOME protection...yes but not enough to warrant 20 bucks +shipping. Doesn't keep the iPod clean, the scroll wheel protection makes the iPod classic frustrating to operate I cut it out of mine and the iPod still gets dirty. It probably has saved me from some nicks and scrapes, but the back of the iPod is still getting scratched up.
The cable management sort of works, I mean you can wrap your wires around it and does prevent tangles but it doesn't hold non-iPod or more expensive earbuds (like v-modas.) Not something unique to this case and other cases offer it and when I'm in a bind I usually just wrap them around the iPod itself.
If you want a little bit of protection for your iPod I guess go for it but you can find better products at the same price point or maybe even less. For scratch protection go with Invishield for total protection nothing beats the otterbox.
- The Case
     By AQNHT20307CF3 on 2008-01-04
When you get it shipped you will get it in it's original packaging. The case is very soft and fits perfectly. The problem with this product is that it does not come with a screen protector, it's just reinforced rubber around the screen. The second problem is that you will have to unplug you headphones every time you wrap them up. Before you insert your headphones for the first time you might want to make sure that you have them inserted properly, you may have to look up pictures on the internet, or on the box. Overall the product is great!
P.S. In the package you might receive, 35 free mp3s downloads and a audio book download, the offers are USE LESS they want you to sign up for a monthly plan for the audio book and the 35 free mp3s are the same. I advise you not to use them.
- disappointing
     By A4HUWYKE2H7MA on 2007-12-29
don't get much for the price. too lose on the classic 80, no cover screen, opening on the bottom is too large.
- Kills the wheel
     By AEC75JQGGPEOB on 2008-06-05
I really wanted to like this case - it's nice-feeling, very functional, and I liked the earbud management - however, it kills the wheel's responsiveness. I completely lose all sensitivity between 3 and 6 o'clock on the wheel. The wheel works fine outside of the case. The hunt for the perfect case continues.
- 4 stars, but nice skin
     By A3HTECG9MOUFHH on 2008-02-05
Alright,
This cover is great, the good part is the feature for the cable and earphones management and that it has a cover over the wheel. The material looks and feels durable. When you buy it new it limits a little the wheels sensibility but once you use it for a couple of days it will adjust better, now i dont have any problem with that.
I did not give 5 stars for one reason, dont get me wrong, i love the skin, but it does not have a screen cover (of course, since through the screen "whole" is where you get the ipod in) but it should have a feature to protect your screen.
Anyways, the skin rocks for me, i like it and i feel for the price it is pretty good! I recommend it.
- not for everyone
     By A3CQS61HDMJMJA on 2008-04-07
I had recently shelled out the money for an iPod classic and within a few hours I was covering my iPod with all sorts of fingerprints. I wanted to get some sort of case to protect the iPod. I thought that the Jam Jacket would be good protection from bumps, scratches, and fingerprints.
Pros:
-The product protects the iPod from minor physical damage (except the screen)
-The price is reasonable
Cons:
-There is no screen protection
-The wheel became difficult to use with the cover on
-The very tight fit makes the jacket more difficult to install and remove
On the specific product that I had purchased the printing on the wheel area was slightly off. This made it appear as if the wheel buttons were crooked. The labels on the jacket appeared to be on some sort of angle even when there was no iPod in the case. I ended up returning this case and purchasing another one that had a screen cover and did not cover the wheel.
- what they don't tell you
     By A29BA58JGQEFWL on 2008-05-09
The description says, "Access to all iPod classic controls and dock connector." Well, that will be true if the only dock connector you use is the USB cord. If you have a device like the Belkin dock, and want to park your iPod to charge, and use the output to feed some other audio component, that's not going to happen. It WILL NOT fit on the dock with the jacket on it. I can see where this would be a good thing to have, if your iPod only goes from your computer to your pocket, but, for me, it's not so hot.
After a couple of weeks, I finally just had to give up using this. I found that, with the jacket on, the iPod wheel sometimes just stops working.
- Best Ipod case
     By A1R89JAW980KHE on 2008-06-16
One reason I like this ipod case is because you not only are protecting your ipod, which is like an investment but also you can manage the headphones cord which can become annoyningly tangled. As soon as my son saw it, he wanted one, so I had to buy another one for him. And the price was great.
- Perfect
     By A3HOVMXZQM8Y5C on 2008-01-10
It is light (and not bulky) and usefully protects the click wheel while providing access to all the functionality. Cord management system is useful (if you are happy not having a belt clip). Not having a screen protector is good for me but not for everyone. Lastly, it is easy to get on.
- great item
     By A2IR7F9QUD9LPZ on 2008-01-22
perfect for my new 80gb ipod its not too bulky or heavy my money was well spend no regrets at all five stars!
- DLO Jacket is Great
     By A3D4GYHXM8ZQ4B on 2008-02-13
I'm really protective of things like iPods, cell phones, etc. so this jacket is perfect for me! i don't worry about scratches, dings, etc. I also like have the place to wrap the earphone cord and a place for the buds. I would highly reccomend this product!
- Ipod skin
     By A2YV8XFA6D2IW5 on 2008-04-07
You barely know it's there, great product. I really like how the headphones attach to the back, that keeps them out of the way. The case is not hard- so if you drop your Ipod, it doesn't offer much protection. Overall, it's a great product!
- LAME
     By A10K8O4EWLGBZP on 2008-04-14
This is the lamest ipod case I've ever seen. It doesn't protect the screen, which is the most easily scratchable part of the ipod. Also, the cord management system is designed only for ipod headphones. I had bought this product specifically because I use non-ipod headphones and the cord is too long. But the grooves are too narrow and it doesn't lock in my cord. Not worth your money.
- Soft and comfy.
     By A36T6942Y8N0IH on 2008-06-02
The cover is great! It's soft to the touch and is not as bulky as I expected it to be. I appreciate that it has a specific place where I can wrap and store the cord, that way it doesn't get tangled where ever I store it. The only disadvantage to this product is that it doesn't have a screen protector. I think if you are considering this product you should go for it!
- Jam-lucious
     By AC60OEH07YIMH on 2008-08-12
Really like this product..Not the usual silicon sleeve or hard case, love the design which makes it stand out from the usual..And I get lots of "where did you get that case from", which is always good.
- Not Good
     By AGA92Q6A80VPR on 2008-09-08
I thought this would be a great product to have to protect my new ipod and earphones. It does this which is good. However, the protection over the wheel protects a little too much. I am not able to turn the volume up or down or go through the menu options without having to take the jacket off. I can click to get to my music but that's about it. I am looking for something else that gives me the same protection but will allow me to use my ipod more efficiently.
