Perfect Case and Cover for The iPod Touch By A4E0NMJPDN3VU on 2007-11-20
The jamb jacket fits the iPod Touch like a glove. As the other reviewer said the raised corners offer a lot of protection if the iPod is dropped on a corner. I can't say how the ear buds fit in the holder on the rear because I use the Bose ear buds and have put away the ones form Apple.
When trying to put on the surface shield, I noticed that there were specks of dust between the shield and glass screen that was creating air bubbles. I used a piece of Scotch tape and removed the dust from the "sticky" side of the surface shield. After removing the dust the shield went on fine with no bubbles. The touch screen works great with the shield.
DLO Jam Jacket With Cord Management & Surface Shields - A Good Standby Case By A17BUUBOU0598B on 2008-03-03
DLO Jam Jacket with Cord Management and Surface Shields for iPod touch (Black)
The DLO Jam Jacket case protects your iPod Touch media player while providing a "wire Management" area on the back of the skin to hold your headphone wires while not in use.
Pros
+ Nice durable silicon case protects your iPod Touch with minimal dust attraction
+ Included surface shields give you one less thing to purchase, great value!
+ Price is very attractive - Half of the Speck Toughskin
+ Rear cord management let you store your in-ear headphones neatly
+ Cord management area adds less bulk than other cord management cases
+ Hole for attachment of loop for case lanyard
Cons
- Case design requires removal for use with most iPod docks
- Cord management area designed for Apple style in-ear headphones; most others won't fit
- Few options for connecting case via belt clips or arm bands
- Silicon is somewhat slippery and very thin compared to other thicker cases like the Speck Toughskin
This is a great overall case to protect your player. The wire management feature adds only moderate thickness to it, certainly less than wire management areas on similar cases I've bought owned. Having wire management integrated with your case is a big advantage. And if you use the standard iPod headphones, or ones with the same form factor, this is probably one of the best cases for you. Still, some will opt to get separate wire winders for their phones and different cases, and here's why.
These days most people are replacing their included headphones. Some iPod reviewers state with no hesitation, "just pay $300 to get decent headphones once you buy your iPod." I personally like Apple's included headphones and think they should be sufficient for basic users. The cord management area is designed for headphones shaped like Apple's. 90% of all other headphones simply won't fit into the included phone holes.
The other major issue with this case is dock compatibility. Some have pointed out the case may prevent easy use with car mounts. But I was more surprised that the thick bottom corners prevented easy loading in my top down iPod dock even though the area around the port is open. Most of my silicon cases for other iPods have allowed me to use open iPod docks with the cases on, which is a huge timesaver. This design could have used just a little more tinkering. Even thick silicon cases can be made to work easily with top down (open) iPod docks.
The case does have some design pluses. The thick corners are nice, and the design does include a good "home button" area and a hole for the light sensor. The hole on the cord management area is designed to accept a clip for a lanyard so you can carry the case around your neck. This hole is not meant for your headphone cord. :-)
The comparison that has to be made is with the Speck Toughskin, which doesn't include the wire management but does have thicker silicon and a less slippery grip. It has much thicker edging too and provides slightly better protection if that is your primary concern. If you can do without wire management, you probably want to check out the Speck. Speck ToughSkin Rubberized Case for iPod touch (Black)
DLO's case does beat Specks on cost though at about half the price.
If you need a case till you test drive what else is out there, this is a great value and should definitely be on your list.
Happy shopping!!!
Great protection without unncessary bulk By A2H5ACOQO4Q84Q on 2007-11-12
I just picked this up last night. The case itself consists of rubber, or some rubber like material. As you can see from the photos, the corners are doubly protected with added padding. From a design point, this makes perfect sense. Heaven forbid, if you were to ever drop your iTouch, it would most likely land on a corner, so with the added padding, it just might survive such a fall in tact. The sides of the case are texturized with small, raised bumps, allowing you to comfortably grip your iTouch. I love the ear bud management on the back. Some may not like using ear buds, but for those that do, this is a perfect solution to carrying your ear buds with your iTouch. No longer do you have to tote them around separetly. They're all together in one neat package. Great idea!
Oh, and one last thing...it comes with a plastic film to protect your screen!
Great Case For Ipod Touch: A Few Flaws. By AC2EGRJTJYVBA on 2007-12-30
This is a great case for my IPOD Touch and I'm enjoying it quite immensely. First, it looks great! Second, it provides ample amounts of protection and even comes with a very nice screen protector, which is absolutely essential for your Touch. I'll use it and enjoy it.
What are the downsides? First, the form factor may not allow you to slide it into your car mount or holder. The case has a device mounted on the back for you to wind your earbuds around so they don't become tangled. Works great, but may get in the way if you want to use a car mount. Also, the device works great to wind your earbud cable and has cutouts to store the earbuds themselves. Unfortunately, the cutouts are the size of the Apple provided earbuds and do not work with my Sennheisers. Nevertheless, it nice to have something to neatly wind the cable around, so it's not a showstopper for me!
Excellent protection, storage and styling. Great price too! By A9JW4ZZ5YIE12 on 2007-12-12
I don't normally go out of my way to write a review. After all, it takes away from my valuable time shopping for myself on Amazon. I did feel the need to give this one a great review. When I was hunting for a case/protection for my new iPod Touch, it was difficult to find anything that first, was available and second, wasn't made of ultra-hard plastic. I wanted a "skin" that would prevent my iPod from sliding and would be easy to remove if needed. The DLO Jam Jacket was just the thing. Here's why: 1) The skin slips on very easily and fits snug. 2) Offers storage for the Apple stock headphones unlike any other case -- a perfect fit with no winding your headphones around your screen. 3) Comes with a self-adhering plastic screen protector but you MUST be patient when applying this. Go slowly and use the card that comes with it to remove air bubbles if they occur. 4) The rubber isn't cheap like others. It is a nice sturdy rubber that will last. You can even remove it if you need to wash it with mild soap and water. 5) Perfect for setting your iPod Touch on your dash or a slick surface as it won't slide away. Same with the inside of your jacket pockets. 6) I know it wasn't designed for this, but it actually can kind of stand up on a slight tilt when watching videos because the rubber cord manager on the back protrudes a bit so when you set it on a flat surface it naturally tilts up. --- One bad thing but not a deal killer: The only change I would make, if the manufacturer is reading this, is that it doesn't quite fit the stand-up Apple dock connector, but if you don't mind just plugging it in using the standard USB or Firewire connector then you're fine. I am very anal with this stuff. ---
- Excellent Except for Earbud Cord Management
     By A65FYHGVZVKEO on 2007-11-30
I second the other reviews here: the Jam Jacket offers iPod touch users a secure tactile package that doesn't mess up the touch's awesomely thin form factor.
But if you do not use open on-the-ear buds like Apple's, the "cord management" system doesn't work. I got IN-the-ear Sennheisers. It doesn't fit.
Finally figured out the clear plastic screen shield. The shield is "protected" by 2 covers. You need to peel both off like a band-aid. Confusing to us slow folk!
- JUST THE TICKET
     By APGN8QGF0P5QR on 2008-01-06
If you work construction as I do this is the case for you. It really protects the player, with extra "padding" on the corners, and allows you to get a good grip on the player while using the controls. I don't find it too bulky for my shirt pocket, and the silicon material seems to prevent the player from sliding out of my pocket when bending over. I like the earphone storage, its a lot better option than winding the cord around the player. The plastic cover for the touch screen is a nice addition, helps keep muddy fingers off the screen itself, and you can buy replacement covers to replace the original when it gets scratched and pitted. All in all this is a great case at a great price. Highly recommend.
- Not so great
     By A2EA3IGFEM7WSG on 2008-01-23
I just got this and I wish I hadn't. My iPod brand headphones don't stay in the attached storage area (I have to use a rubber band). The included screen saver would be great if the stickers they use to help you peel the backing off would not stay on permanently. I have tried to get the front sticker off but the adhesive goo stayed behind and now there is a sticky smudge left in it's place and a bunch of scratches due to me trying to scrape it off. Also I'm used to sliding my iPod into one of the pockets in my purse but because of the rubber it does not slide. That feature might be great for other people but it doesn't really fit my needs. I would have gotten a different case, with a clip, (some women's pants have no pockets to hold anything like an iPod) if I had known how poorly designed the headphones holder really was and that I also wouldn't be able to see part of my screen due to the sticker residue. Otherwise, the iPod Touch itself fits really well into the case and the control buttons are accessible and like one poster said, the headphone holder can be used as a stand to view your content in the horizontal position (but that's all it's good for).
- Initially good but now has stretched and is very loose. :-(
     By AONUCJBC85BL on 2008-03-20
Initially this case was great - form fitting and snug, like a second skin. And the ability to store the headphones is brilliant. It only holds the apple ones best, which i don't often use - but its great to know you always have some headphones you can use in a pinch. Great for when stuck in traffic or waiting in line somewhere.
I have had my case for about 3 mos now and even tho I hardly ever take i out of the Jam Jacket - the case has stretch and loosened so much I am about to buy an entirely new case from another manufacturer. It has loosened so much now that it slides around a bit inside the case.
Very disappointed.
- ALWAYS USE PROTECTION!
     By AHLLG8AJJLNVK on 2007-12-11
Ok you just dropped $$ on an ITOUCH. You might think about getting some protection for it before you Destroy it as it scratches pretty easily. I bought some of the thinner Silicone protectors and they seemed pretty flimsy. Note: this is basically another Silicone Sleeve, and not a harder plasstic case, which for some reason I thought that is what I was buying. However, we are pretty happy with this one as it has a bit more heft to it and its thick around the corners, which is probably were the most damage would take place if ya dropped your I TOUCH.
The Cord Wrap thing in the back of it is Handy of you are still using the extremely painful ITOUCH Earphones. We upgraded to the BOSE ones, and if you did too be warned as they dont fit forementioned cord wrappy thingy.
The Surface Protector works pretty well. Just make sure your Screen is Nice and DUST free before you lay it over, as if you don't you will get little tiny airbubbles over your Screen face. The Trick to laying those on it to start at a Corner, make sure its straight, then lay it down slowly in a rolling motion Followed by pressure with a soft cloth to get the air out. Roll towards the Far opposite Corner.
Overall, Happy with the product. Shame it doesnt come in other colors, but its done a great job keeping the ITOUCH safe.
- Great Low Cost Protection
     By A3REWQ031QO652 on 2007-12-17
This is something that Apple should include as standard. As much as the device costs it makes sense to add some protection in case of dropping the device. This fits perfect and lets you use the device as intended. Plus I like the added grip it gives when holding it. The only thing I'm not wild about is the earbud management system on the back. Makes it a bit thicker and harder to slip into a shirt pocket (but it still fits fine). I carry a set of retractable earbuds so this feature isn't needed in my case. All in all though it is an excellent investment for the price. The screen protector is nice too. You do have to take your time and work the air bubbles out but it's worth the effort.
- Great case for your ipod touch
     By ATSOPP4YG58Z on 2008-02-20
I would recommend this case for anyone with a touch who uses the Apple earbuds. The materials seem to be high quality and protect the entire touch very well except for the screen which the included screen shield takes care of. I did have some difficulty applying the screen shield and tried to wipe some dust off the sticky side with a paper towel, which essentially ruined the shield. The company was nice enough to send me a couple free replacement shields though, this time I will use Scotch tape as another reviewer recommended if the shield gets dust on it during application.
The rear headphone storage does add some depth to the unit but I don't mind it. It is a nice solution to keeping the earbuds at hand without wrapping them around the whole ipod which blocks the screen for when you want to just check email etc. Unfortunately my Shure earbuds don't fit in the slots and the whole (thick) cord doesn't even fit on the cord storage reel. Still a great cord management solution if you use stock earbuds.
- Slim and Sleek
     By A12UPNC90U2ZZ3 on 2008-02-24
I purchased the DLO Jam Jacket about 2 weeks ago and I have found it a really great accessory to my iPod Touch. The headphones holder in the back is a great addition to the product and has come in handy especially for when I just want to surf the net with the Touch and not have the headphones flying around everywhere, but they're still neatly attached the back of it.
One of the things I was concerned about while ordering it online was that it would be bulky and really either weight the Touch down or make it harder to fight my pocket. However the Jacket has a really amazing design and doesn't add much to the size of the Touch at all besides the back portion for the headphones.
The reason I gave it 4 stars instead of three was because of the plastic screen you get to cover the LCD. While it was has never been a problem functionally or cleaning wise, it is a bit of a pain to put on. I would suggest making sure that both surfaces are completely clean before applying the plastic screen on, and also that you apply it in the middle and push the air outwards. I got a few bubbles in it and some that won't come out because there is actually a little piece of something (lint or something) between the Touch and the plastic screen. This can also be annoying and ugly to the eye.
However, all in all I'm and extreme glad I purchased it and would recommend that you get one for yours.
- Surprisingly disappointing, even at this price
     By A3O807FL5QF4LJ on 2008-03-21
I was originally attracted by the low price and the inclusion of the face shield, however there are a number of things have made this a pretty disappointing purchase.
First, the skin itself. I wasn't expecting it to be particularly impressive in the durability department at only $14, but I was still surprised how stretchy and thin the material is out of the box. It feels like it's going to be all too easy for small junk and dust to squeeze around the edges of the viewing area, a definite potential problem if carrying the iPod in your pocket. Worse, it feels like the case will stretch off entirely if you're putting the iPod in a particularly close-fitting pocket, like in the back of your jeans or something.
The included face shield also seems to be a total loss. Aside from having not been able to apply it without tons of bubbles being stuck underneath (no directions or tips on the packaging about this) the biggest problem is the sticker DLO has actually put on the shield itself, to supposedly help with removing the shield from its backing. The problem is it was impossible to cleanly remove the sticker from the shield. You've probably seen it before; you're trying to remove a sticker and it leaves behind a nasty patch of paper and glue. Trying to pick the stuff off only warps the shield to the point of uselessness.
Lastly, the earbud storage on the back DOES fit Apple's ear phones nicely, but given the skin's tendency to pull back from the sides of the iPod, having the extra bit sticking out from the back only makes it more likely that it will catch on something and pull the case off.
Overall, I'd have to strongly recommend against buying this skin. Spend a couple more bucks on a more sturdy material.
- Great Product!
     By A2QZ5456AWGWW0 on 2007-12-04
I just purchased this Jam Jacket today for my iPod touch. It was very easy to put on and fits very snug on the iPod. I was worried it was going to be loose but that was not the case. I bought this particular case because of the cord management feature. It didn't disappoint. The cords easily wrap around the plastic piece on the back and the buds and plug fit neatly into the cutouts. I really hate when the ear buds are loose and there's no place to put them. This way I don't need to buy another carrying case for both the iPod and the earbuds. I am so happy with this case and would recommend it to anyone looking to buy one for their touch.
- Good product but instructions are not clear
     By A3H5HK2BQ31HVC on 2008-01-27
Pretty good product for the price. Fits perfectly. My only grievance is that, there is no clear instruction on how to go about sticking the surface shield. It just comes with the 2 tabs that say something like "remove this protector before using the shield". It doesn't mention, which way is up. Because of this I ended up placing the shield wrong way and ruined the sticky surface completely.
My only advice to people who intend to buy this product is, make sure you identify the sticky side correctly.
- Great
     By A1E4P1DN8NVFL3 on 2008-02-08
best case b/c it's flexible enough to get on/off, stores the earbuds and doesn't interfere with WIFI feature
- I'm happy with it.
     By AJW2MLBOC7N15 on 2008-02-27
Good little case for the iPod. It just provides that little peace of mind that allows me to toss it into my briefcase without worrying about it.
I do agree with other reviewers that the "cord management" lump on the back is useless if you aren't using Apple ear buds, but I use over the ear headphones and knew I wouldn't be using it anyway.
One note about reviewers referencing the stickers on the surface shield...the sheets with the stickers on them aren't the surface shield. They are just, well, shields for the surface shield. You peel off the front and back and use the middle bit. It took me half an hour of trying to put the flimsy "shield shield" on the iPod and not understanding why I couldn't keep the bubbles out from under it to figure that one out...
- over rated
     By AYDQY1PY6MPJ7 on 2007-12-20
It is too thin and the cover is difficult to apply. Ear phone storeage is a good idea.
- Good Case
     By A2523W3DRK80GD on 2007-12-28
Like the case but wish it did not have the cord management system since this adds unnecessary bulk to the case if you don't use apples headphones. Beware, you might have trouble with it in some docks due to the extra thickness on the corners. Overall worth the money.
- muy funcional
     By A1PMEU19S569Q6 on 2008-01-01
es muy bueno protege tu ipod muy bien lo unicco es que solamente agarra los audifonos grandes en los orificios traseros, pero por lo otro todo ok.
- Feels Good
     By A3PJ0TNZOJ2MCI on 2008-01-22
I was constantly worried I would drop my shiny new touch. Not anymore. The textured rubber is just right for getting a good secure grip. This is handy when multi-tasking much less risk of an accidental drop. Plus it gives the device a better, solid feel in the hand. Also, the rubber grips your shirt pocket so it does not slip around, or out. The holes in the back hold the ear phones when not being used.
The only issue is that extra thickness makes it hard to place into the ipod slot on one device (a clockradio/ipod player) I have to take an extra second to place it into the slut rather than just drop in right in like I used to. Plus, it might not be the sexiest look either compared to the little leather case used on my nano but all-in-all a good product.
- Needs an armband.
     By A3MUIE58LUENC3 on 2008-01-23
I have been using my DLP iPod Touch Jam Jacket for a month and am mostly very happy with it. The one thing that causes me to give it 4 stars instead of 5 is that it lacks a way to attach an armband to it so that i could wear it while riding my horse. Britches don't come with pockets large enough to contain anything but a key if they have any pocket at all. That said, the Jam Jacket is easy to hold onto and with the included screen protector completely protects my iPod from everything except dampness. I use a set of Sony earbuds with it and they fit into the earbud sockets on the back just fine.
- Rugged, Versitile and Handy
     By A3R5JHJ7X5HIBJ on 2008-01-28
I purchased a DLO Jam Jacket about a month ago and I have found that I use this case much more than the Belkin Folio I purchased at the same time. Belkin Leather Folio for iPod touch (Black/Chocolate) This DLO case combined with a screen protector is very versatile and secure. I love being able to wrap up my headphones right on the back of the case. The only reason I gave this product a 4 instead of 5 is that the cover, while it fits snuggly enough, the silicone just feels a little thin and loose at some points and leaves you feeling like it isn't as protective as it could be. With any case look around for the best price. Even on the same site it can vary drastically by seller.
- very good
     By ATQHYNEPWBXJF on 2008-02-08
I bought this right away after I got my ipod touch because they look so fragile out of the box. The kit comes with a clear laminate overlay for the touch screen and the rubber jacket. It is not bulky and the cord managment feature on the back is the best part. The earphones easily wrap around and are neatly tucked in their rubber spaces. I recommend this highly!
- Good, although quite big
     By A3LEADMKOJ39IF on 2008-04-04
I got my DLO Jam Jacket today, and overall it seems quite good. The ipod slips quite well into the pocket, and the included shield seems to do its job. Getting it on was quite tricky (little air bubbels form if you aren't careful), so I would recommend using something to slowly push it down (I used an eraser put in a piece of tissue paper). The shield also feels
In terms of access, the case is really good. The home button is now even easier to hit than without the case due to the extra little bump in the case, and the power switch is still fairly accessible. The cable is still easily insertable, and the headphone jack is still open. If you have a pair of headphones with a big plug, it might not fit perfectly, but the silicone jacket is very flexible and will easily move out of the way.
The only thing I have against this jacket is the size of the cable management system. It seems to do its job, but it is very bulky, and it turns the very thin ipod into a thick block. It does seem to do well in terms of keeping the cable in.
Summary:
Pros:
- Fits well.
- Easy access to the switches and ports.
- Shield does not detract from the usability of the ipod.
- Cord management works (for the regular earbuds).
Cons:
- Big and bulky.
- Cord management can be quite tedious (although this is of course expected).
- An Ok Ipod Case

This thing is ok. Sometimes I think it doesn't really do anything to protect my ipod, but.. whatever. It's meh.
- DLO makes great accessories
     By A2PO6AM5O8W63T on 2008-06-24
I just recieved my IPOD Touch from Apple and saw immediately that it needed some protection. I went to Amazon and looked at the different options and opted for the Jam Jacket.
I was not disappointed. I have some other DLO products and have always been impressed with both the products and the customer service. The Jam Jacket fits perfectly on the touch and gives me exactly what I need. I substituted my IPAQ for the Touch, well because the Touch is infinitely cooler and easy to use. I use it for work to keep appointments and contacts, so I always have it with me. I usually just keep it in my shirt pocket all day, pulling it in and out to schedule things and make calls. The Jam Jacket barely increases the size and but adds some adhesion to the Touch so that it does not fall out of my pocket.
At first I thought that I would not like the ear bud holder b/c, as others have noted, I don't generally use the buds but opt for in the ear style headphones. However, the Jam Jacket stores the ear buds so neatly and compactly that I now carry the buds with me all the time so I have my movies and music always available. In my opinion, the Touch is so small to begin with, adding a little bulk to store the ear buds is worth it.
BTW, the screen shield that ships with the Jam Jacket is a must. It is easy to install, just be sure that you clean the Touch and wash your hands before you put it on. Frankly, I don't even notice that the screen has a protector on it. Also the screen covers the entire front of the Touch while leaving a hold for the "home" button.
So bottom line is that I think this is great product and I highly recommend it.

Sick product. Fits perfect, looks great. Actually looks better on the itouch than in the package. The earphone holder is a nice bonus and works great. Screen protector went on with ease and fits perfect. Looked at several others and for the price this one is hard to beat.
- Pretty good case
     By A2J0IBS4PFRO2C on 2007-12-12
While this case is not the most attractive one on the market, it's a very nice and basic case for the price. When I was looking for a case, I definitely wanted one that will help me secure and manage my earphone cords, and this one does exactly that. Of course, it doesn't work with other 3rd party cords, but it doesn't make the claim to do. The package clearly shows that it works with Apple cords or similar.
This case also make two thumb typing in portrait mode a little easier because you get a little more grip with the sides of the rubber case.
