| B Company
Welcome to the 222nd Army battalion, B-company. This is where the Army rakes together all the insubordinates, hellraisers and troublemakers that won’t fit in any other unit. When the Rangers and Deltas are too expensive to waste, these guys are the first ones in.
They’re called “Bad Company”; a mismatched bunch of rejects selected to serve their country as cannon fodder. This isn’t the kind of outfit a lot of soldiers would join voluntarily. Getting transferred to “the B” is a punishment and a way for the generals to put all their rotten eggs in one basket.
No one starts out in Bad Company. But for some, this is where they end up. |

The online was down almost all day on release By AJT34WHNKP6JY on 2008-06-25
***Update***
Ok, this is supposed to be sorta real life game play right? Well I have spent more time playing and this is just disappointing. The communication just doesn't work. You need to defend two points that are sometimes far apart. How do you work together as a team to defend if you cant talk about a plan??????
Weapon damage is awful!
Example: I have a support gun that spits bullets but as I am filling a guys back with lead he turns around and fires one shot from a shotgun and kills me. You have to rely solely on head shots; I can put 15 rounds into a guy's chest but one 9mm round sprayed at my head kills me instantly. I know a head shot kills in real life but so does 15 rounds of 7.62!!!!
Since there is no penalty for just running in haphazardly into a zone, a lot of people just rush the gold crates. So now you just get this wave of people rushing the gold; if the weapons killed faster they would think twice about just running into an area.
This game is just turning into an Unreal tournament style of game play.
Even on the old BF2 the M16 killed in 6 to 9 shots(2 to 3 trigger pulls); in BBC the M16 round causes 7 points of damage and that means it takes 15 rounds to kill at minimum because the farther away you are the less damage it causes.
Even though I am getting into the top three almost every time I play it is very disappointing and frustrating and not worth the time.
**end of update**
I played hours of BF2 so I love the online team combat fps game play. I have played days of RB6 and COD4. Five reasons why the online Xbox live game play just stinks right now.
1. you can not chat with anyone outside your squad of 4 people. So you do not know what the other 8 people on your team is doing or planning.
2. you do not have a server list or even any idea what maps are being played and can spend a lot of time trying to find good games to join.
3. When you invite your friends into the game it may put them on the other team. Wow, how could this have been overlooked? Spend time getting out of games and trying it again.
4. EA reset the stats from the demo so everyone should have started at 0 points but through some kind of cheat a lot of players already have 78,000 points from playing just one day.
5. I only got to play just one game then the EA servers went down and could not get back on. Looks like EA prepared poorly for the rollout of the game.
6. extra credit: with the very poor design of team chat and not being able to invite anymore than three of your friends into a game, despite both RB6 and COD4 letting you do 6 or more, it appears many clans will not play until this is fixed.
Single player- *** Who buys BF games for single player?*** BF is all about online team fps. It appears EA thought that if we get to blow stuff up we would ignore the glaring mistakes.
This game still needs some serious work.

Battlefield & Chaos By AGR4LKC72JEQ8 on 2008-07-08
Battlefield Bad Company is a FPS for the XBOX 360, This is an open world combat game similar to Medal of Honor Airborne and Frontlines Fuels of War. But most people feel that it must be compared to Call Of Duty 4, which of course is the best FPS on the 360.
Playing the single player campaign in Bad Company has you fighting alongside a squad of three AI (artifical intelligence). Unfortunately, your AI sqaudmates are practically brain dead! They will stand out in the open and not shoot back at the enemies. The enemy AI are shooting hailstorms of bullets at you but seldomly attack the AI squadmates on your team. This shoddy programming takes away from the realism and makes the game feel cheesy and low budget.
Since your sqaudmates are useless, that you will have to take it upon yourself to get into the combat and mission objectives. Many of the missions have intense firefights and are pretty straight foreward. The maps are very massive and open for the most part. This open world combat lets you devise your own plan of attack which is an excellent experience in itself. There are plenty of weapon pickups and checkpoints which automatically save your progress. If you get killed, you just respawn from the last checkpoint you passed.
The levels use streaming technology which means no loading times when going from one part of the map to the next. The levels also are persistant which means that whatever destruction you caused or enemies you killed; they remain the same and DO NOT reset after you get killed. The best thing about Bad Company is the destructiblility. Trees, containers, vehicles, and walls can be destroyed. The graphics and sound effects do a good job of conveying the chaos from this destruction.
There are two game mode type for multiplayer online. The mode called, "Gold Rush" allows up to (12) players on each team. The defending team protects the gold crates, while the attacking team tries to destroy them by either planting a charge on the crates or simply shooting at them till they blow up. Gold Rush, is so much fun that it should be renamed to "Head Rush".
Recently the game's developer, made Conquest mode available as a free download. Conquest plays like a cross between capture the flag and territories. It uses four pre-existing maps that have been modified to fit its style of gameplay. It is a nice addition to the overall package.
Here's a small taste of what you should expect to see during the matches:
Mortars shower from above, attack choppers dominate from the air, battle tanks destroy by ground, artillary strikes are awesome, air strikes have lethal precision. All the while lots of small skirmishes are taking place-Specialists running around with their silenced smg, Demolitionist blasting with their shotguns, Snipers killing from afar, Support providing suppressive fire and Assualt soldiers aggressively attacking everyone.
Despite some of its flaws, the chaotic battles, destructive environments, and amazing sound effects make Battlefield Bad Company an enjoyable experience for FPS fans. It is not a perfect game by any means and it probably won't topple COD4, but Bad Company certainly is one of the best open world combat games available for the XBOX 360.
Pros:
+open world combat
+destructible environments
+massive levels
+excellent map designs
+ragdoll physics
+jaw dropping sound effects
+excellent controls
+excellent vehicles
+balanced weapons
+intense firefights
+conquest mode added recently
Cons:
-brain dead AI in single player mode
-It does not win over COD4
It's not Call of Duty 4.... By AWC8CTW8N2XVE on 2008-06-30
The best and shortest way to describe this game is that its NOT the clean, crisp Call of Duty 4 game that we have all come to love on Xbox 360. The graphics aren't on par with COD4, and neither is the sound. The online experience is limited. The battlefield series made it's mark on the PC, where Battlefield 2 was the top shooter possibly every created in terms of a military type game. Every time they try to bring it to a console, it has a weaker feel. [...] Its a FINE [...] dollar game...no way near worth the premium.
just a helpful opinion.
the next level of Battlefield. By A2OR09N5HH20PY on 2008-07-11
hands down, this is the best FPS this year, the only one i expect to be better is Farcry 2. im a sucker for open-ended sandbox style gameplay, and this one delivers, the levels are HUGE and your options for victory are only limited by your imagination. that enemy tank getting your down? just call in an airstrike. dont have that equipment? find some c4, make a quick pass by the tank, dropping it as you run, and watch the firewors! this game is a total blast, its the most pure fun ive had with a shooter since Bioshock.
for the first time in a Battlefield game, you actually have a great single player game, the story and characters really are well done, even if your teammates are living cliches. basically your squad of four consists of the lowest outcasts of the army, who are there either there to shorten a jail sentance or shorten their required time served. they fight on the front lines, usually alone, and with some quick wits(and big guns) you can conquer a small army! which brings me to my next point and one of the very few negatives in the game, in many cases online or off, the most important factor is not skill, but who has the biggest guns, not that skill isnt immensely important, because it is. if you dont know the game, the online regulars will tear you apart and spit you back out before you realize your dead. the fantastic single player will get you acquainted fast though.
as of right now, the online only has one match type, Gold Rush, which plays similar to capture the flag, only on a much larger scale with multilple control points. the classic Conquest mode will be added for free download in the next couple months.
a big factor is the destructible environments, and it delivers. mostly. i have a few complaints regarding the environmental distruction. if i can destroy nearly any wall, why are floors completely invincible? and if my tank can plow through a wall, why does it get stuck on the most pesky little things?(small rocks, framework, a BATHTUB haha).. nothing game-breaking, but it gets pretty annoying driving vehicles in towns/bases.
on-foot, fps controls are similar to COD4 with the steady-aim/zoom in on the left trigger. the only major difference is the placement of the duck button, here its RS instead of B. not the the game itself feels AT ALL like COD4, and it isnt trying to in the leased. this game is carrying on the Battlefield tradition, and oh man is it a worthy follow up. i cant stress enough how great this game is, just take my word for it, and buy it now
- Not perfect, but a lot of fun.
     By A179VIFHWPBSNO on 2008-06-25
This is a great game in its own right, with 24-player online matches, fully destructible environments, and a full range of land, sea, and air vehicles in very large maps. All of these things are very impressive for a console, but may be nothing too exciting for fans of the older Battlefield games on the PC.
It may take a little while just to get used to the game, but it can be a lot of fun once you get into it. The game overall isn't as clean or realistic as Call of Duty 4, but you really have to keep in mind that they're trying to bring a lot more to the table, whereas COD4 focused on perfecting a few key aspects of the gameplay. Those are two really different approaches to game development, and so it's really not fair to compare the two directly.
With that said, however, the controls and aiming don't feel nearly as sharp or responsive as they should, and this can get frustrating when you're trying to frantically maneuver your vehicle out of harm's way or land a shot on the guy in the tiny window across the village.
It'll be a little while before you pick up on the full range of things you can actually do in the game (tagging enemy vehicles with tracer rounds so that your buddy can lock onto it with a rocket launcher, for instance, or deploying smoke from your tank to cover your retreat). That's when things really get fun (and you stop dying as much). Online matches tend to descend into chaos rather quickly, but if you find some friends to play with and stick together, the cooperative aspects of the gameplay really shine through and can make for a very rewarding experience.
In conclusion, there are a few areas for improvement, but it's a very good multiplayer game in its own right, and it's definitely worth checking out (especially if you're new to the series).
- This Is A Really Fun Game.
     By A1VCJKQUUDV6SL on 2008-06-25
Battlefield: Bad Company is a fun game to play. Right away I noticed the game has probably the best sounds of combat I have ever heard in a game. From the sounds of weapons firing to the sounds of armored vehicles running, the game is great to listen to. The sounds of mortar shells coming down and exploding around you is just unbelievable. When I walk through forests and fields, I can actually hear the sounds of birds chirping, dogs barking, and cows mooing.
The graphics in the game are just great too. I love looking at the water in streams and rivers. It looks very real. The forests and villages in this Eastern European setting are really beautiful to look at in this game.
I like how you can jump in different vehicles to drive around in and there is a car radio in the vehicle to listen to while you are driving around. There are several different radio stations to listen to. I love the music in this game.
The AI in this game is pretty smart. When enemy soldiers see me, they immediately run and hide behind something. They have try to out flank me and they have tried to sneaked behind me a few times. I love the part where a enemy soldier runs into a building to hide from you and you can use your weapon to blow a good size hole into a building to waste the enemy soldier. It is also so much fun to just take your weapon and shoot down all the trees that enemy soldiers are hiding behind. You can do so much damage to the terrain with your weapons in this game.
The maps to this game are huge. The maps are ten times bigger than the maps to Call of Duty 4. I love the sandbox settings to this game where you can go any where on the maps.
I highly recommend getting this game. Battlefield: Bad Company is a fun game to play and the game has a lot of replay value to it.
- Really Fun Multi-Player, But Still Not a 10
     By A1W22U56KMYJER on 2008-06-29
This game has an incredibly boring single player game and a fun multi-player game. The graphics are not up to COD4, but they still are good. Those of you who enjoy COD4 and are looking for something else to entertain you will enjoy this game. Initially EA wanted to charge more money for different weapons which rubbed me the wrong way (I still can't rationalize why I am paying XBox Live to play online!). There are glitches in the game that people are taking advantage of. I am seeing a lot of people "fixing" upside down vehicles in order to gain ridiculous points (some kind of glitch in the game) and ignoring the game taking place around them. There is also quite a bit of team killing going on with no repurcussions (you don't get kicked off for excessive TKing). The game play is fairly fluid though when it is taking place and the destructive environment (trees fall down after you shoot them, walls blow up, you can force your way through doors and windows) is cool. Its worth the price, but COD4 is better for those who haven't played that yet. Enjoy....
- Better than I feared
     By ADIY3IXY2FDJQ on 2008-07-08
As with everyone else in America and around the world, I was a HUGE fan of Call of Duty 4: Modern Warfare. I have never played Battlefield before and was told it's better than COD. Although I don't agree it being better, it's absolutely on the same level. The realism is what I go for in these games. I love, LOVE how everything is destructible and people realistically die. My only set back with this game, which I quickly got over, was when you respawn in single player. I got over it quickly because I was just getting used to some of the controls, but that's the only not realistic part of the game. Overall, this is one of the best of the year, so far.
- Not EA or Dice!!!
     By A1815EKEL7FKJK on 2008-06-25
I just want to start off by saying I don't work for EA or Dice so don't ask. Now to the game I'm probably going to get hell from people for saying this but this game blows away Call of Duty 4!!! Yes I said it!!!
Ok so the graphics aren't as good as CoD4 but the gameplay and sound alone justify my opinion.
The sound is the greatest sound fx I've ever heard in a game, I think it should actualy be considered a crime to play this game without suround sound. When you are inside a building as always you can hear your footsteps but the depth to the sound quility is amazing and when you fire your weapon it echoes so beatifuly it makes you feel like you are really in that hall.
The Frostbite engine allows for almost endless distruction which alone makes the game more fun then CoD4 (which I was a huge fan of so please don't think I'm bashing it at all). If there is an enemy behind the wall blow it up to get to him, don't feel like using the door blow it up or drive threw it with the tank!!! You can even go as far as using this feature to blow out a roof and turn the attic into a sniper location.
The game is insanely fun and has hilarious commentary from squad mates. I only got play the multiplayer for a few minutes but it is the same setup and style as CoD4 making it easy to get used to. I highly recomend this game give it a shot regardless of if you think CoD4 is and always will be the greatest first person shooter ever... I promise you won't be disapointed!!!
- Battlefield Bad Game!
     By A1JR3Q4PND5G7Q on 2008-08-18
I really REALLY wanted to like this game.I saw the commercials with the sharp graphics and witty funny dialogue and thought 'This is going to be a great game' right?WRONG!And I am sorry to say this. Now,I play a lot of first person shooter games and some are better than others obviously. But I've never played one that had so much promise and failed in almost every concievable way possible. Now,before I get to the terrible parts let me start with the very few positive available.
Lets start off with the graphics. They are very realistic and you'll be surprised great they are.The best I've seen in a game of this type so far.The duel acessories/weapon selection is cleaver. You can repair any vehicle pretty fast with a rivot-type gun which is useful. And the dialogue the men in Bad Company during the campaign is actually pretty funny and comedy is certainly a nice change of pace in a game about war and death. And the coolest part of the game is actually firing the Artillery pieces with a airial view a lot of fun especially online.
Now,here comes the bad parts which are considerable so bare with me through all of them.Let's begin on the game mechanics.Selecting weapons are cumbersome and awkward. You'll shuffle through one only to realize that you skipped it.And you would think that the standard L1-R1 weapon select system would have been more than adequate to easily get the job done, but L1 selects the acessories and R1 selects weapons.Secondary weapons like a attached grenade launcher should be on L2 and use R2 to fire, but disappointingly enough it's an acessory so you have to select it with L1 which is more than awkward especially in the heat of battle. The reticles are almost useless and is hard to guage if you even have your target on it and the recoil moves it around so much you easily lose track of the enemy.Rocket Launchers are underpowered especially up close where they shoulb be the most effective like hitting a guy in the chest and him not dyingAnd a lot of the weapons you use online and unlockable ones you need special codes and they are extremely hard to get and then even more can only the be unlocked only if you'd pre order the game LAME!
Now to the campaign-The story is the backbone to any first person shooter and without one severely dilutes the online part which it does a lot.The whole concept is about finding enemy Gold and smuggling it out so everyone there can retire.Although this sounds like this is a great idea and a novel concept it's actually becomes stale and boring very quickly.Like I said I had no problem with the voice acting, but some may find it to be dumb and repetitive. Also, the intro just throws you into a Russian-type country without any backstory or explanation on how and why you are there which is the biggest flaw in the game.A good portion of the enemy A.I. even on the highest difficulty are dumb and are easy targets.
And finally Online-There are only two settings(Gold Rush and Conquest mode). And you can only get Conquest Mode only if you download it off of XBOX Live and please do it's head over shoulders better that playing Gold Rush by far. There is absolutely to talking in this game which I found wierd in a game so strategic as this one.At first I thought my Mic was broken, but then soon discovered after playing several consecutive games that there's simply isn't any at all. This might be a good thing however, because there is a lot of Team Killing that occurs. And I do mean a lot of it.This was preveilent in the first Battlefield game, but no where near the level that it is now.The HUD is useles as well.It doesn't show you where your team is at accurately and enemies appear as little tiny dots that you can barely see.But you don't have to worry much about this, because Snipers rule this game. You'll get picked off from a thousand yards away and have no idea what happened until it's too late. And don't ever EVER get into a vehicle especially a Helicopter with your Teammates around, because they will deliberately shoot at you until you die or the vehicle is rendered completely useless. Most players also have better weapons available that you do and if you're up against them you might as well leave the game. You only have about five maps to play on and only two of those are worth playing. The are big a bit too big and although you can select which spawn point you select,by the time you get into the battle the actual fighting is now a thousand miles away from you and you'll find yourself running or driving to the front lines.
Overall this game is a big disappointment. If you expect a great game you'll be sadly mistakened.I lay all the blame on the makers of the game who should have realized all of these problems and actually fix them. They deserve a special award for poor game design and flawed unsupervised online game play. And a thrown together jumbled mess of a story line.I could actually go on with more problems with the game, but that would drag this review even further. If you have to play this game I suggest you rent it,DO NOT buy this game! It's a waste of time and money. To finish all I have to say is this game might very well be the biggest disappointment of any video game and any genre I've ever seen and I hope I have given you all the information you need to avoid such a dreadful game as this one turned out to be.
- worst

- Another $60.00 wasted
     By A3S6N383YNH9AB on 2008-07-01
Here's the deal.
This game has a few things going for it.
It is cool to blow big holes in the side of buildings. I am also a big fan of shooting the trees down. The single player has some moments that are kind of funny. The graphics are not on par with the great shooters, but they are still pretty good.
My complaints with the game are as follows.
Ok first off it seems like my guys top speed is a breath taking 2 mph, 3 mph if I am sprinting. The graphics are not all that great. The controls are sloppy and it is hard to be very accurate. Some of the things they put in the game to be clever are just stupid. Like the injector that heals you, which means you have to put away your gun to heal yourself. This wouldn't be so bad if I wasn't using the damn thing every 10 seconds. Also the vehicle repair tool that you just grind against the side of a car to make it run again. What's the point of that? If you want to stab someone the knife stays in your hand so you have to pull out your gun again. Also the multiplayer sucks, blow up gold crates.... Whatever. I hear they are releasing new modes, but who cares when the game play is this bad.
Anyways, maybe I am just spoiled from Halo and COD4. But it feels like they rushed this game out. I recommend that you keep your money and wait for the really good games this fall.
- Not really what I consider a good FPS
     By A814JEC5BOMGL on 2008-07-03
Good:
The Destructable environment is a step forward.
Not So Good:
The game is 90% dominated by armor, helios, fixed guns etc. I'm sure there are tons of plp that never get out of the tanks. They just take a new one every time they spawn.
**WAY WAY TOO MUCH** of the game (mabye 90%) is controlled by Armor, Helios, Artillary, etc.
Graphics and sound are not as good as COD4.
Way to hard to drop people with small arms. If you've got the drop on someone (anyone) at close range with a full auto weapon they should go down. (notice the period)
Overall:
I'm sure over time I'll get to like the game better. I don't think I'll ever like it as much as COD4, mostly due to low value on actual first person shooting. Mabye fixing the total amount of mechs or being able to limit their effectiveness by blowing bridges or something would help.
- Worthy Shooter that brings destruction to the table
     By A1JO5E9OD96VLO on 2008-06-27
If your a fan of shooters , you owe it to yourself to try this game.
At the very least rent it.
Nearly every wall, door, rooftop is able to be blown to bits.
After a hectic battle in a wharehouse , I turned around and looked at all of the destruction. What a sight ,the entire side of the wharehouse was comepletley gone.
I love the frenetic gameplay , you can't just take cover and 'wait it out' so to speak, you have to shoot, move, take cover, shoot move ,rinse repeat. Don't get me wrong you can take cover, just be carefull where you do it, that wall won't survive long.
I like the fact you can go into an area in a vehicle or on foot.
Do you flank left ,right,or shoot up the middle. It's all there for you to decide.
The very beginning of the game is linear for the most part. Really its just a pseudo training level for you to get used to the new 'destructive' component. And boy is it ever satisfying to see the once formidable wall be blown to bits by a well place grenade launch from you. Very fun indeed.
Climb up to an attic ,and you wanna go out the other side but can't ,well make a 'new' door through the wall with your gun mounted grenade launcher. You have an endless supply of health in the form of a portable health booster in the form of an injection needle ,it momentarily recharges ,but its not long to recharge, I found myslef not worrying to much about taking damage as I can just get a shot from the health booster whenever needed. You'll respawn endlessly at well placed checkpoints ,much like multiplayer the single player respawns you close to the battle, you don't just restart a chapter like most single player campaigns.
Being that I was in a bit of a drought , Battlefield is a nice refreshing change of pace.
The graphics aren't fantastic , but what is fantastic is what happens when your destroy things in-game, they look good graphically and really provide a 'feeling' of being in a hot war zone, with ample amounts of destruction.
Some of my gripes are that some of the buildings interiors are all very simular in each level ,and the controls have few options to configure to personal tastes. The enemy AI isn't to bright on the normal difficulty. I hope the harder setting is more of a challenge. Some of the weapons could have better 'scopes' on them ,and some aiming sights (LT) take up to much of the screen.
Also another gripe I have in single player, is sometimes the battles are over too quick and your off to the next area. I wish the enemy AI would spawn more enemies ,as I find myself just getting started into a great fire-fight and suddenly it's over. Also the helicopter is insanely overpowerfull against 99% of enemy AI ,your almost invincible, but sometimes that's a good thing ,but I would prefer more of a challenge. Don't expect much realism in this game like RSV realistic difficulty, enemies in Battlefiled BC can takes tons of shots . This game is suited to the tastes of arcadey-like shooter fans.
Online highlights: Most maps support 24 player, also
There's a new mode called 'Gold Rush' which involves the attack and defend mechanic , destroy the crates of gold or keep them intact. If the attackers win ,play moves onto the next stashes of gold ,until they're all gone or until the timer runs out.
If the defenders win by holding their gold ,they win.
'Gold Rush' is simple attack defend goal oriented that's simple and structured.
While the buildings interiors are all very simular, actually on some levels they're carbon copies of eachother, but a good thing is on each level they do change ,from oil refineries ,to one of my favorites, a dictators golf course, you'll find yourself in a russian tank on a multi hole golf course, very nice touch, for a gag you can even ride in a golf-cart ,although it unwise at best,it's still funny to see four heavily armed men in a golf cart going into battle,if you so choose.
The graphics will likely never 'wow' you ,but what should 'wow' you is the destructable environments, and as a whole package it does look good.
Also riding in a tank mowing down trees like a giant lownmower somehow is sweetly satisfying. Is it the best ,no, but it does offer a nice addition to the FPS ,genre. There is some noticeable image tearing horizontally accross the screen.
With somewhat of a shooter drought right now, Battlefield is just the right game to give me a shooter fix. PEACE
- Great Shooter Game
     By A1331M2TON2TVE on 2008-06-27
I purchased this game yesterday and played last night for a few hours. It is a good game to me, worth the purchase, especially if you like shooter style video games. The high def graphics are great and the sound is even better. The controls are easy to use. I like COD4 and Bad Company is right up there with it imo.
- People think this game is "amazing" ???
     By A1O7LCA2LZYFNU on 2008-07-02
This game is disappointing at best. It's just like Assassin's Creed in the regard that it's a game solely made to show off a new type of gaming engine. Yeah, you can blow up trees and walls, great. The graphics are terrible! I don't know what game other people are playing but this looks like Medal of Honor for the PS2! The accuracy of the weapons is horrible and enemies take whole clips to be killed. The health injection and checkpoints take all the difficulty out of the game. You can die 1000 times and still come back to the same spot and the enemies don't respawn. I truly believe that this is a down grade from the last game, BF:MC I LOVE FPS's. I've played 'em all. I'm just really let down by this release. By the way, You can't talk to anyone outside of your 4 man squad on a 12 man team in multiplayer! That really helps the whole team work and strategy aspect of the game... I give this game a 2 instead of a 1 simply because there are far worse games out there. I'm just overall disappointed. I wish EA still supported BF:MC!!!!
- To much hype over what?...
     By A3AIT8NAWBLF9A on 2008-06-25
The sounds in this game are amazing. One improvement they have made is the sniper. They have made it so there is no tracer or red dot that appears giving away the snipers position. That does not mean you cant be spotted, once spotted then you will be marked red on the radar for the enemy to see, only for a short while :3 if you make it that long.
Driving vehicles is fun and manning certain artillery pieces is fun as well. Overall its a good game to play with friends. But its not the greatest. There is a lack or does not exist a function to customize your weapons. The ghillie suits look, I quote during a game, "like underwear with leaves on it." The single player gameplay is entertaining. The graphics seem to have improved but nothing fancy...ive seen better. There are some minor issues that pop up rarely during multi-player mode. One of them being dropped from a game or being placed with another squad? and also loosing the ability the talk or hear your friends during gameplay. So far its happened only once but then again it was the first night I played. One thing I absolutely hate about this game is that if you have a person who can pilot the helicopter well then you pretty much dominate the game. Its good when your on the winning side. But when your loosing its frustrating. Lastly the SHOTGUN is ridiculously powerful in this game. I cant tell you how many times I see people getting killed with a shotgun from a very long distance.
Overall its fun, expensive... sigh*...its entertaining
is it worth buying? Im sure a better game will come along. For now itll do...

Anyone who liked call of duty 4 is going to love this game. its a bigger better version of cod. you can drive tanks helis and humves, its awesome. the only bad part is that you lose points if u kill ur own guy. Also there is no split screen. however the online play is massive and everything is destructible. so if ur like me and sick and tired of cod 4 get battlefield: bad company.
- Get over COD4
     By A1JI3LIQVCHKMM on 2008-07-03
All I would like to say is that everyone needs to get over COD4 and stop comparing new first person shooter that come out to COD4. COD4 was been out almost a year now GET OVER IT!!!!! its time to move on to somthing new. Not saying that COD4 is a bad game because its not and we all know that. All I am saying let play somthing else.
This game is a real fun game try it you might like it.
- Amazon not delivering promised sniper rifle.
     By ANIZWRG05HWYX on 2008-07-23
Game is great. Amazon pre-purchase hype was not very good. They promised the key to sniper rifle and after repeated emails gave a $10 coupon for a future purchase. I would much have preferred the deal promised.
- HMMM.....
     By A1ZIUQ02H3HXY4 on 2008-07-23
so im going to make this short and simple. the game itself is worth renting but not buying. the destroy every thing enviroment is pretty awesome i must say. but the story line is a little weak and you dont get everything thats going on. also it would be nice to have more weapons. towards the end everything starts to get repeditive.
- GOLD RUSH BABY!!!!!!!!!
     By AT8MZNW21UN3X on 2008-07-30
Online gold rush, is an awsome change of pace! I love how it brings people together and for the most part makes people play as a team. I am loving the dedicated servers and have experianced very little lag while playing online. I have heard other people saying this but have not experianced it myself. ( by the way I am in an unsupported country, working overseas.)
The achivements are fairly easy and can be earned just by playing the game, with the exception of a few.The hardest one being, getting 10,002 kills online ( don't think I'll be getting this one).
Now with frustrations with the online are the really random and wierd places you spawn. Sometimes you will spawn in a building far away from the fight with no doors. Sometimes it will be in the middle of noware and have to walk for several minutes to get to the fight. Now you can respawn with your team mates, but then you run the risk of spawning in the middle of a firefight and getting killed as soon as you spawn.
And no it is not Call of Duty 4 and it never was trying to be, to all those who kep saying that: yes we know, now go back to playing COD4.
I am happy with my purchase and think it is worth it. My $0.02
- Great Game
     By A39MDSJCCQFTT4 on 2008-08-05
Great overall game. The storyline is solid, the gameplay is easy, while the AI challenge is definitely there without being way over the top. Online play is awesome. The one downside: no multiplayer unless your online. There seems to be only one online multiplayer mode too. Hopefully that gets updated. Id says its definitely worth the buy.
- Most fun I have had in a while
     By A2D3EIMH46WS1V on 2008-08-11
I normally like to finish a game before reviewing it, but I can say that Battlefield: Bad Company is awesome and there is no point in me finishing it. This is absolute fun. RPGs going over your head. Your squad talking up a storm. You trying to run away from tanks. Getting blown-up and then getting shaken up because of the blast. In a short couple of words. Forget COD4, I think this is the most realistic game I have played. I haven't been in combat before, this has to be close. I have played most of the the popular FPS console games; Rainbow Six, COD, Ghost Recon, Halo and this will certainly satisfy me for a while.
I have seen the bad reviews on Amazon and I don't get it. Who cares that it isn't COD4. Call of Duty was so scripted anyway. It almost wants a first person shooter but an adventure game.
Bad Company is not hard, but it is fun to see if approaching a hotspot makes it easier on you. For example, I normally don't like using the vehicles (Tanks, etc) but if you do, they make it a lot easier.
Pros:
* Awesome sound
* Awesome gameplay and realistic environment
* Fun
* Funny story and characters
Cons:
* Horrible, horrible worthless friendly AI. The enemy AI seems pretty good to me. I saw an enemy soldier walk right up to the friendly and the friendly soldier didn't do anything.
* Maybe too realistic and chaotic. You can't tell what is going on.
* Stupid reviewers on Amazon, who want COD5.
- One of the Top 5 Games of 2008
     By A1M4VNSBHB6NS3 on 2008-08-22
Killer game!
I almost skipped Battlefield: Bad Company because it doesn't have co-op play. Thankfully I bought it anyway.
This game hits everything it aims for.
Gameplay: Fantastic. Immersive. Fun, even for those who are just watching. Interesting health system - one of your outfitted items is an adrenaline self-injector. You select it, pull the trigger, and watch your character stab himself in the heart. After grunting, your health is replenished to 100%. There's a 5 or 10 second recharge on this injector, more than enough time to give the enemy a chance to finish killing you, especially on the hard difficulty.
When this system was introduced, I thought it would get tiring after a while, or make the game too "arcade-y," but that wasn't the case. You'll still die, and the choice the designers made about the health system keeps the combat interactions as realistic as possible without being excruciating. (let's face it: no one buys a game where they lie in the mud getting eaten by bugs for a week before scrapping the mission and going home...even though I'd wager that's a more common and "realistic" combat experience than this game offers. If you want realistic combat, join the marines.).
Level Design and Missions: varied and fun. I tend to hate timed missions, and there's only a single ONE to be found here. A good assortment of shoot 'em up, protect your friends, escape, destroy hardware, and defense. There's even a night mission that requires solo play (without your AI team), and it's one of the most memorable in the game.
There was ONE mission that nearly had me stuck. That was due to my own lack of skill in playing - I got stuck (without ammo) on the wrong end of a bridge covered by snipers and .50cal nests. Even so, I eventually got through. You know those annoying games where you get lost during a level? Where you can't figure out where to go or what you should really be doing? Not here. A helpful (if a bit restrictive) red "artillery range" area is displayed around the path to your objective. If you go into the red area, you have 5 seconds or you're dead. A bit cheesy, but it keeps the game flowing. Even so, the game's environments are huge and beautifully detailed.
AI: I played this game on the "normal" and "hard" difficulties - the AI was intelligent and had a few different strategies. "Hard" is comparable to the Legendary difficulty in Halo. It's something fun to do while having a few beers with friends, seeing who can last the longest, and over a few hours advancing through a level.
Your AI teammates don't die and never run out of Ammo. It helps.
Weapons: Fun to use, realistic looking and sounding (except for the Steyr AUG...not sure what happened there). The only game I've played so far where shooting a rifle actually kind of feels like...shooting a rifle!
Sound: Without a doubt, the highlight of Battlefield: bad company. This game has incredible sound. Interesting fact: humans are genetically programmed to fear only one thing at birth: violent noises. Well, this game delivers them. Several times during the game, I found myself crouching behind cover longer than I needed to, and just enjoying the sounds of the battle raging around me. From NCO's shouting orders over the gunfire, to the screams of soldiers getting hit, to the thundering sounds of artillery and heavy armor in the background, to the fantastic sounds of the small-arms fire echoing down a street...it's amazing.
The sound is a huge part of why this game is so cool. Good speakers highly recommended.
Storyline: Enough to keep it going. I can appreciate a good story, but it really isn't needed (and wouldn't be all that productive) here. The developers clearly spent their time on what mattered for this game. The storyline is there for those who want some direction/context, but it's lighthearted and doesn't take itself too seriously. Perfect for the world you're playing in, since this game needs a fun story to balance out the "serious" combat. Believe it or not, this actually ADDS replay value to the game. I don't think I would have gone back for a replay on "hard" if I knew there was a dark, brooding story (a la Rainbow) looming there waiting for me.
Overall: This is a fun way to waste 15 hours of your life. There's plenty of replay value to be had, and you never have the feeling that you're running out of things to do. So many games give you all they've got in the first 5 hours, and then make you repeat it over and over for another 5 to get to the end. When you're playing Bad Company, it always feels like there's more than one way to get where you're going, depending on your style of gameplay and the weapons you're currently holding. It's never tiring, and thanks to a first rate save system, you can usually finish up within 3 or 4 minutes without losing any progress, if Real Life calls.
10/10. A must-have for anyone who's ever enjoyed shooters.

- Back to the Battlefield
     By A3CH7WXXANM6T on 2008-08-25
A giant smile broadens on my face as I hear that awesome Battlefield theme during the credits. This is going to be pretty cool I think... then...
Wow.
That was my first reaction after playing Bad Company for about 20 minutes. Bad Company was exceeding all my expectations for a 360 shooter, as well as a "Battlefield" game.
The single player experience is OUTSTANDING. Great story, great voice acting more than a few jokes that had me laughing out loud. Graphics were uniformly good, so good that I did not even need to take them into account while playing the game, they just "worked" which is ideal I think.
I played the heck out of Battlefield: 1942 and Battlefield: 2 on the PC back in the day, and really enjoyed the combined arms/total chaos style of game-play. Teamwork, utilizing those combined arms (Infantry/Tanks/Choppers), was SO fulfilling and fun. Since then, the few games since then (2142 and the Xbox/360 versions) have really disappointing. They just did not have that "Battlefield" feel to them.
Bad Company's multi-player is everything I remember and more. The gameplay fits seamlessly on the Xbox 360 and Xbox live works wonderfully better than the PC matchmaking. Everything you could want is there, from unlockable weapons to giant tanks. Awesome.
- Online multiplayer battles will rock you
     By A16LJ5PBH4GIOK on 2008-09-14
First of all I have never played COD 4--shocking I know. So I can't compare BF:BC to that. Also, I have barely touched the sigle player campaign here, so I know zilch about it. What I can say is the Battlefield online multiplayer experience is outstanding. The playability is in my opinion far better than Halo 3 online and H3 of course is no slouch. I was always a big fan of H3 big team battle. Battlefield takes that environment to the next level. 12 vs 12 in an online environment that is about .3 miles wide and 1.5 miles long...incredible. And there isn't a building that you cannot enter and use tactically. The 90% destructible environment may sound like a gimmick but it is impressive...play and you will understand. While it's not absolutely perfect, it seems a lot of thought was put into balancing everything. There are 5 player types and I find myself using them all at different times within a game depending on the situation. The weapons all have their own strengths and weaknesses. You will enjoy figuring out which ones you prefer over time because it won't be immediately obvious. This is a very deep gaming experience. Every battle plays out differently. The squad play is good. You will not be in communication with most of your team and that bothers some, but surprisingly (at least with the golden crate mode) it doesn't present a huge issue. Everyone is driving to the objective and helping each other out. In fact as new people cycle into your squad there is a lot of sportsmanship/civility and you'll be building your friends list faster than in Halo 3 where 90% players seem to be 13 years with severe emotional problems. Lastly, sound is fantastic in this game.
So what are the problems? Very few problems. But here's a short list. I don't think these things deter from the gameplay much at all, but here they are:
1. Drab environment, not colorful like H3
2. From a distance, other players can look 2D at times. Like cardboard cutouts.
3. Doesn't quite have the in-game physics of H3...plenty good enough though.
4. Less 'arcadey' than H3...so fewer moments like "oh my lord I just jumped a gorge in my warthog but Jimmy sniped me in mid air". Lots of wild stories come out of H3 games. Doesn't happen as frequently here. Just as fun but more of a simulation vibe here.
5. Difficult to link up with more than 3 of your friends at a time. Additional friends can join your game and get into other squads, but not into yours.
- I like me some Bad Company
     By A3E7S1DWYCVA11 on 2008-09-14
Battlefield 2 Modern Combat was ok, but didn't have that aura that bf2 of bf2142 had on the pc. So instead of rehashing the game DICE did something completely different and made a new bf game from the ground up. My oh my, they did a hell of a job.
First the technical stuff, the sound, awesome as always, never expect anything less from DICE. The graphics are superb, great detail, excellent light and shadow effects and fantastic landscapes. Battlefield has always been the sort of game to make you feel you're on a real warzone, but this is probably their best by far. The destructible environments are here and are quite impressive, you can't destroy a whole house into rubble, but if you could, be pretty unfair wouldn't it?
The singleplayer is good but nothing mind blowing. Still feels good to walk around and do whatever you like, reminded me of oblivion more than a couple of times. The multiplayer...come on, it's a battlefield game, do you really expect anything less than perfection? The game still maintains a nice balance, nobody is too strong or too weak and all serve their own job and purpose. The unlocks system is simple enough, you get a credit and you go buy a new toy with it (excuse me weapon :P). The dogtag collection from bf2142 is here as well and it's a lot of fun to go around and take out people who annoy you more than once. The destructible environments are a blast...literally. It's a nice little thing to add to the already popular battlefield gameplay.
So what are the flaws? Well, it's laggy, sometimes it's barely noticeable, and other times...yea, let's not go there. There's no squads or commanders in this bf game either (well you have squads but you're matched up randomly so it doesn't really help towards teamwork since some people are lone wolves and prefer to stay that way). You can only talk to people in your squad, if they talk back that is. Plus there's all the typical bugs and glitches that'll be patched up in due time, hopefully.
Overall, this is a great addition to the franchise and even greater addition to your collection. For a console shooter, doesn't get any better than this.
