• Cheesy case, not a hard shell, way overpriced.

  I ordered this case along with my Navigon 7100 and had not yet seen it at retail. If I had, I wouldn't have bought it -- even at half the price.
  
  First, as mentioned by others, this is not a true hard shell case; it's more like a lightweight molded foam. It's perfectly fine for purse or briefcase, but then so is a simple leather or vinyl case. (Unlike some others, I don't find that the zipper scratches the device, perhaps sloppy manufacturing leads to varying case measurements.) I don't think this case would offer any significant protection if the GPS were dropped. Also, the faded gray-blue color and the orange lining doesn't exactly scream class. Navigon makes a premium GPS line, it's a shame they couldn't come up with a hardshell case that also looked premium.
  
  

• Great protection and sharp color contrast

  This is a great case. It offers excellent protection for my Navigon 7100. At first I was disappointed that the case did not open fully --- once you unzip it, side straps keep the case from opening fully. However, in using it I have realized that this is a great feature. You can't accidently drop the gps when you open the case. You have to reach in and pull it out.
  
  In my travels recently I have found it to be a quick way to take my 7100 with me without a lot of time fumbling with the case to put it in. Prior to this case, I had been putting the gps into a cloth bag with a pull string on it. Now, once in this Navigon case, which looks pretty sharp with the orange lining, I slip it into my pocket and have no concern about the 7100 being very well protected.

• Zipper scratches 7100

  The zipper inside is exposed and scratches the 7100. I've had my 7100 for about two months and not a mark on it without the case. In sad irony one week with the case and it is all scratched up from the case! (reviewers of the 5100 case have noted the same glaring problem)
  
  Before I got the "official" case I checked several nintendo DS (not DS lite) cases at CC. They fit well and I don't think they will scratch up the 7100 like this one does.
  
  Also not the description says this is a hard case. It is semi hard while it will protect the screen within the glove box, it looks like it will do little to protect against even a one foot fall to street.
  
  On the ergonomics, it is clumsy to remove as it doesn't open all the way like Nuvi official or third party cases.

  This is very nice for protecting your 4.3" GPS. I ordered it for a Navigon 7100, but ended up with a TomTom GO 720 - which fit perfectly. Protects the unit from scratches and falls.

  OK, I took a chance in spite of the price and some not-so-favorable reviews. Got burned. The case is NOT a hard shell in the true sense of the term. It's some kind of plastic and it seems thin and quite flexible, sort of like the cardboard backing on a pad of paper. Maybe this "feature" helps absorb shock if the case is dropped, but it sure doesn't inspire a lot of confidence. The zipper closure works poorly in that it doesn't move around the corners of the case easily, but it seems like it is "breaking in" and working a bit better now (about 5 days of usage). And, holy cow does that thing STINK! It must be off-gassing like that old kind of carpet made out of recycled plastic soda pop bottles! What a weird odor! It has persisted for several days now, but fortunately it seems to be lessening. On the plus side, it looks nice and my Nuvi fits in it well. All for just $19.95! Probably cost $.25 to produce; should have sold for about $6.95 at most.
  
  
• Pointless

  Purchased the case when I purchased the GPS unit. Used it once and threw it in a drawer. Zipper hard to close plus there is no room for anything else. Got a Case Logic case from B.J.s for half the price and is much better quality plus has room for the charging cable. Don't bother with this item.
  
  
• Hard Shell - maybe

  The case will protect the GPS, but the zipper is not made well, and after 3 times using it the Zipper Pull SNAPPED off the zipper. For the price paid it should be better made.
  
  
• It does the job

  Slightly more difficult to open than any other case but its has stretching bands I guess to stop it from opening too much and as others suggest maybe to stop the GPS from falling out.
  
  It rigid, nicely sized, almost as big as the GPS only, and does the job. Shame about the grey and red colors and texture of the case outside. It doesn't look great but does what it says on the product description.
  
  Haven't personally had problems with scratching.
  
  Compare with the black case logic one also on Amazon so you can make a fair decision. Sorry but its only fair to tell consumers of the competition and each can decide for themselves.

  The Megellan that I purchased came with a small slip-in soft pouch which does not protect your device. FOr maximum protection I purchased the hard shell case which has a zipper and my GPS is well protected.

  I bought the Navigon 4.3 Protective hard case for my Magellan 4250, fits perfect, keeps it from being squashed, doesn't take up much room in my purse which allows me to take my GPS with me everywhere. I love it! AND, it's not obvious, thick like some other carriers and was reasonably priced.

• Hard Case for GPS

  It's just OK. Advertised as a "Hard" case, it is kind of soft. Sort or an upgraded cardboard. I was a little disappointed with this purchase.
  But, it works and I use it because it's a bad idea to leave a GPS exposed on the dashboard, I've had one stolen so when I leave my car in a public place I slip the GPS into the "hard" case and either take it with me or slip it into the glove compartment.

  The case is OK. It's molded "leather" and not a real hard case.
  It has a membrane inside that keeps it from opening any further than you see in the picture. I suppose that's to keep you from flopping it open and dropping your GPS. It does it's job. The zipper is kinda cheap though so you have to be easy with it.
  I wouldn't get another one.

  In terms of protection, the hard case is great. But it does not have a space to contain the cable to carry. If the manufacturer makes the pocket that the cable can be stored, this case will be super.

  Works great with the TomTom 720 and almost seems like it was made for it. Has the same curved back and flat front. For the money I would say it is a great buy.

  What can I say, it's a semi-hard shelled case that protects my nuvi 200 W. I felt that it was a little over priced, but it offers much more protection than those flimsy little leather sleeves that are offered by Garmin and a few other stores. It was made with love by our friends in China, so don't get your hopes up too much when it comes to quality craftsmanship. Again, it does what its advertised to do....protect your sweet new GPS navigation toy from short drops and everyday scratches. I would suggest getting a screen protector as well, just be careful appling it, the screen must be absolutely clean!

  This case does the job, but I agree with the other reviewers that it is not a true hard shell case, and is a little cheap for the price. I do like that it does not flip open all the way, so my Garmin Nuvi 750 has less of a chance of falling out. The case is slightly large for the Nuvi 750 if anyone is wondering, but it works fine and I don't see it to be a problem. Fine little case, the best I could find for my needs after surfing the web for a few hours. It'll do the job

  This is a well-made item which protects the GPS unit very well...ideal for slipping into the briefcase for transport. My only wish is that it was slightly bigger so that it could accomodate charger and cables.

  The zipper works fine but a snap latch would be better. However, the Navigon 7100 fits in it perfectly with no extra space, providing a great protection. Much better than the cloth bag that comes with the Navigon.

  I admit it, I have a nose like a bloodhound but this carrying case has a very strong plastic smell to it. Sans the odor issue, it's a nice, well made case. It's not a "hard" case, there is some "give" but it does a good job of protecting the GPS unit.

  For the small cost of the item I am delighted with the case for my Navigon 7100 GPS. It is "hard" enough for the protection it needs provided you don't run your car over it or give it to a child to play with. It allows much better protection than the "soft" case that is sold.
