  • Rock Solid Power Supply

    By ANCTEVATRGO0K on 2009-07-05
This is a great, rock solid power supply. This PSU is capable of handling almost anything that you can throw at it, except for some extremely exotic setups.

Most computers only consume around 100-150w, and even a high end computer might consume maybe 200w. That's why most OEM computer manufacturers put small 250-350w PSUs in their systems. If you look at online reviews of highly overclocked systems with multiple video cards (SLI/Crossfire) they consume at most about 500-600w. Anandtech (a very trusted hardware review site) in a comparison of the ATI Radeon HD 4890 and NVIDIA GeForce GTX 275 (google it) also did a roundup of other comparable video cards and some SLI/crossfire setups. Their review system was a Core i7 965 @ 3.2Ghz (non-overclocked), 6GB of RAM, and SSD drive, and X58 based motherboard. Idle power consumption ranged from 170-260w, and full load from 260-420w.

The point is you don't need a 1000w PSU even if you have a high-end system. The wattage race is long over. A good PSU from a good PSU manufacturer is all you need. For regular desktop systems, a good choice is Corsair's 400CX or Antec's EA380. If you need a bit more power for an overclocked system, or multiple video cards this PSU is a great choice. Also for consideration in this price/quality range are Antec's EA650, SeaSonic's S12 and M12 550w & 650w versions, and PC Power & Cooling's 650 & 750w versions along with Corasir's own 750w version of this same power supply.

This power supply is also 80 PLUS certified, which means that it maintains at least 80% efficiency across a range of power usage from 20% of it's capacity (~130w) all the way up to it's rated maximum. This is *very* good. Most off-brand PSUs only make about 70-75% efficiency. This doesn't just make a difference in your electric bill (not much, but every bit helps), but it also means the PSU runs cooler since less energy loss during conversion from AC to DC. Generally speaking the 80 PLUS certified PSUs use better quality components to achieve the higher efficiency which means they are less prone to failure than the other cheaper brands.

In addition to having quality components, it also looks very good in the case. A very dark grey matte finish accented by yellow and black markings. The cables are long enough to reach pretty much anywhere. This is in my Antec 1200 full-tower case, which has the PSU at the bottom. The 8-pin motherboard power connector has plenty of room to reach the top of the motherboard. However, I had to run the cable the "normal" way over the video card and past the CPU fan since it was not long enough to feed behind the motherboard tray as I was hoping. Then there are 2 cables with 4 SATA power plugs on each, 2 cables with 6-pin PCI-e video card cables (each having an optional 2-pin attached for those video cards that require 8-pin power), and 2 cables with 4 regular molex plugs each.

  • 550 watts of power

    By A3IQHULBC5UGAT on 2008-02-15
Everything about this unit, the price and the Amazon service is first-rate.
Unit comes securly packaged first in protective padding, then some type of tyvek bag within a heavy box. Looks and feels well made. Plenty of leads and enough flexibility to connect to whatever you want. Fits right into a new HP case with no problems. Comes with its own mounting screws and black zip-ties to tidy up your installation.
I have been using this for a couple of weeks intermitantly, and so far it is working as it should. It is also very quiet.
Bonus - It comes with a cool sticker to put on your case.

  • Supply failed after just 20 minutes

    By ANK80GONQWMFD on 2009-08-26
I purchased this Corsair 750 Watt supply at the end of June 2009. I ordered a new graphics card from another vendor at the same time and the card was DOA (Broken right out of the box). I just got around to ordering a better card (ATI/Radeon 4770) and it is due to arrive tomorrow, Aug 26. I finally installed the power supply this evening, Aug 25, so everything would be ready for the new card. The supply worked for 20 minutes and then shut down. So I reinstalled my original supply and everything is OK. I'll be sending my Corsair back and try another one. I am 0 for 2 with this upgrade. An update will follow.

    Update: Aug 28,
I returned the dead power supply to Corsair in Fremont, Ca. (Just a 45 minute drive from where I live). They exchanged it no questions asked. (I happened to get the one that made it through quality control only to have it fail 20 minutes after installing it. These things happen). The supply fan is very quiet. Much quieter than the ATI 4770 fan, which is fairly quiet.
I would now change the "STAR" rating to 5 Stars if I could. And 5 STARS to Corsair for their customer support!
    Thank you Corsair!

  • Unbelievably robust in harsh environments, handles dynamic loads with ease

    By A252LGGPTX3BJ2 on 2009-05-21
This review probably won't speak to your uses for this item, but it will speak to the general bulletproofness of the Corsair. Sorry, I mean *BOMB*proof. I'll let the other 50 reviewers tell you about how this works in a computer, which I'm sure it excels at. I, on the other hand, needed at least 600 watts for a mobile DJ rig that was running off a gas generator, rolling around in 105 degree heat and nonstop dust storms. Please know, before we continue, that my conversion of the Corsair 1) voids the warranty and 2) is not entirely safe for the electrical newbie, so please don't go doing this unless you're comfortable handling live wires and have done your research on hacking ATX PSUs. I'll let you find that info on the internet and instead focus on the performance and reliability of the 750TX.

The environment this was in is knowing for destroying moving parts, devouring motors of all kinds, and generally ruining stuff in a hurry. It's the alkali flats you always see those car commercials filmed in the middle of nowhere, Nevada. Temps soar and the dust is so fine it gets into EVERYTHING. If you run a motor or any kind with a fan, the rule of thumb is to clean or replace the filter daily. It's hot and it's nasty.

The Corsair was literally buried in dust at times, baking in the sun, and it never stopped fanning itself (silently) or providing steady power. And we're talking hellishly dynamic loads here, too. Bass heavy music cranked to 11 will basically give you alternating zero to full loads. I blew up a lesser PSU doing this same thing before finding the Corsair ("melted, then popped" would be more accurate). This thing has gone for 20 hour stretches of this without a whimper. I blow fuses on the amps before this even gets warm. It's actually never gotten warm, other than being in the sun, which is also handled without a problem. Using indoors in regular temps is a walk in the park for it, so I've also converted it for use in home theater without an issue. It's provided enough power to blow fuses in the amps I'm using, which means it's peaked at around 1 kilowatt of power. Let me repeat that - it has delivered A FULL KILOWATT OF POWER, albeit briefly, and stayed in one piece. That's insane!!

Think of this like extreme conditions testing for something you'll never use in those conditions, like when they test helmets by smashing them with battering rams. Normal computer users out there will *not* have a reliability issue with this item, I promise. I can't imagine what the high level Corsairs could do - you could probably power a small town with them.

  • Absolutely the Best

    By A1RFMUNBUCDXB0 on 2009-02-15
Corsair is THE best power supply manufacturer by far. I believe this particular model has a MTBF (mean time between failure) of 100,000 hours, which is insane. I am running a GTX 295, overclocked core i7, DVD burner, 10k hard drive, and 6 gigs of 1600 Mhz Ram with ease on this power supply with breathing room. When I get my other GTX 295 and hook up the Quad SLI, add another hard drive, blu-ray burner, and 6 more gigs of ram, I will need a 1200W power supply and I really wish Corsair made one. The only real "con" is that it isn't modular so you need to have decent cable management to keep the airflow tip top. Buy this, you won't be disappointed.

  • Gteat PSU

Corsair remains Corsair. Silent, powerful + 5 years warranty. Am using it in Europe, 220V - just great.

  • Excellent PSU, OUTSTANDING CS !
    By A2KDAFB7KHMQ3 on 2009-07-03
Though I didn't buy this unit through Amazon, I did buy it
1 1/2 years ago. It has proven to be a great PSU for my needs.
Here's one thing about Corsair's customer service. The first day
I got the unit, I messed up the cables..bad. There was no way
that the site I bought it from was going to take it back. No
way, no how. I contacted Corsair's CS and explained what I did.
Instead of telling me "so sorry, you'll have to buy another since
you messed it up" they told me to ship it up to them and they'd
take a look. I did so. Much to my surprise, Corsair contacted me
and told me though I did mess it up and admitted to it, they
felt that if I was going to use their product, just this once,
they would take care of me.

In 5 days, I had a spanking new 550 VX PSU sitting on my porch
when I got home from work. Corsair sent me a brand new one,
picked up the tab for shipping it down to me and simply ask
that in the future when looking for another PSU or memory
please take a moment to look at their products ! That was
    it..

Now honestly how can one beat customer service like this ?
That's why when it comes to certain hardware, Corsair is
my first choice to look into when shopping.

  • Excellent Product
    By A10GRL18NPKH97 on 2009-11-30
I purchased this Corsair 550 watt power supply to upgrade my system after finding out that my stock 350 watt power supply was not capable of supporting the HD4850 ATI graphics card I purchased. I selected this model based on reputation, specs required for Amps on a rail and sales price. It was easy to install and has performed flawlessly. I am fully satisfied after six months of daily use.

  • Works well, stays quiet, low power consumption at idle
    By ARBKYIVNYWK3C on 2009-10-29
I use this power supply with a Core i7 system on an Intel X58SO motherboard, a dual slot Nvidia 8800GTS and every PCI slot filled, 3 DVD burners, 2 video cards running 3 22" monitors. I draw about as much power as possible from this power supply, and it works just fine.

It's very quiet and has been completely reliable for me. I don't know why, but the thing doesn't hold dust like previous power supplies I've used. Overall, completely satisfied and definitely recommend this model for purchase and long term use.

  • Works Fine, Had to Cut into Case
    By A2B50OYVNOGGJW on 2009-10-22
I purchased the power supply to power a new video card in my Dell 8200. I bumped the power from 234W to 650W.

The power cord plug was not in the same location as the stock power supply. Before installing the new power supply, I had to modify the rear of my case with a pair of tin snips to make the power supply fit.

I updated my computer about a month ago, and every still works fine.

  • Great power supply
    By A1RRO3BUQIZ8QF on 2009-05-02
This is a great power supply for a good price! I'm running an AMD 6400(3.2GHz) Black edition overclocked to 3.6GHz when gaming. I am Also running a 4 drive RAID(JOBD) array, two burners, 4 case fans and a NVIDIA 9600GT Video card. I have had it for over a month now and my PC has been humming along perfectly. The power supply came with all the connectors that you would need(Molex, SATA, ATX 20/24) If you are running a mid range system like mine and want good stable power then this power supply is what you need. I would definitely recommend this system to anyone wanting to build a mid range system.

  • inexpensive 80 + rated power supply
    By ADVIIH4P5WVCU on 2009-04-16
I searched for an 80 + rated power supply to reduce heat build up in my computer case. The 80 + effeciency produces less heat. This combined with the large fan did the trick. Works fine. Lots of extra cords I had to stuff in the case.

  • Corsair 650w TX
    By A3KJME3TOKVZ4J on 2008-12-21
This power supply is great. Great packaging. Plenty of cables.
    8 molex
    2 pci-e 6+2 pins
    8 sata
    1 20+4 cpu connector
    1 4+4 cpu connector
    1 floppy connector

Only con is that it's not modular, but for the price I couldn't be happier.

  • Affordable and reliable power supply
    By A3HPZ1AG6P090P on 2008-09-16
The Corsair TX650W power supply unit provides a continuous 650W power at over 80% efficiency. It has very long cables that are especially useful for tall tower cases. It fits just fine in my Cooler Master CM690 chassis and Asus P5Q-E motherboard. The 12V comes in a single rail and supplies a stable 52A current. It has 2 PCI-E 8pins for display cards, 8 SATA and 8 molex connectors for IDE devices. There is more than enough power for a dual display card set up and it's Nvidia SLI certified. The 120mm fan is very quiet and keeps the PSU cool. Given the very competitive price and 5 year warranty, it's a great buy.

  • Great mid-level power supply
    By AKVIV0ENLUOI7 on 2008-07-13
I've only had this a few weeks, but this is an excellent mid-level power supply that should suit the needs of most desktop users (except hardcore gamers). Extremely quiet and stable. Pretty simple upgrade to do on the standard power supply that came with my OEM desktop. This unit is standard ATX size and should fit inside any mid-tower case. It has plenty of connections (carefully tie up the unused connections to keep the inside of your case neat). I'm using it to power a Q6600 desktop (non-overclocked), two DVD-RW drives and two 500G hard drives, and this should also be able to handle a very good, mid-level graphic card (like an 8800GT or Radeon 4850). This power supply is also SLI/Crossfire capable, but likely only for lower-powered graphic cards (a dual 8800GT or Radeon 4850 setup will probably be too much to handle for this unit). But if you don't need/want a very high end graphic card(s), then this power supply is highly recommended.

  • Efficicient and Reliable
    By A3CIT21CA33RWS on 2009-11-20
While there are power supplies that are rated for the same or higher output for less money, I think spending the extra money for a solid power supply is a worthwhile investment. The fan in this PSU is impossible to hear with case fans running, and it provides stable voltage. The only negative I can find is that it is not a modular power supply, so be prepared to do a little extra cable organization.

  • Reliable and for sure the best PSU Ever!!
    By A9GTZU854XN0G on 2009-11-05
This Power supply is a great power supply, its 750W PSU, its quiet, the Customer service is wonderful I had this item replaced once because there a was click noise coming from the fan in the PSU but they replaced it and I got it back within a week, they replaced it with a BRAND NEW in the original box unit, I really like Corsairs Customer Service. I have other products with them and they are always helpful anytime you need it. I HIGHLY recommend this PSU to anyone, I am running a Intel i7 920 CPU, XFX 9800 GTX+ video card, with 6gb 1600mhz of ram on a ASUS p6t motherboard, I have6 fans in my case and the CORSAIR h50 CPU cooler unit also and it all runs great.

  • Awesome Power Supply
    By A14H0IMLKU6JDI on 2009-10-27
I cannot praise this power supply enough! My friends got me a new video card for my birthday and my old power supply just would not cut it.
I had to buy a new one and I have not regretted it one bit. The installation took a bit because my case is a Dell case and its not exactly huge.
There were so many cables coming out of this thing I ended up having to shove them into one of the empty drives.

Comp has given me no power issues since I got this supply and my new video card is superb.

All in all a great buy.

  • Great PSU
    By A3S1MQ6SAPVKQI on 2009-09-28
Isn't it wonderful, I have 60 amps and 720 watts on just one rail for my CPU and GPU(s). I can run 24/7, over clock, expand my peripherals, start my car, or even difibulate someone. Yeah, its a 750 watt PSU, but it's more akin to those "cheater amps" you see at noise competitions. You know the ones, there 30" long, and weigh 40Lbs, but the sticker says 200 watts. The specs on the Corsair site say the maximum sustained output is in the mid 800s, and I suspect when Corsair says sustained, they mean 4-5 hours (theyalso have a neat video of there lab techs blowing up cheap PSUs).

On to the physical attributes, this thing is heavy. When you read the shipping weight you think "no way." Then when you get it you think, "some one swapped my PSU for a brick." Trust me, you'll want to put your computer up on the table to install this thing, don't just slide it out of the cubbyhole and onto the floor. I tried that, and it reminded me of changing the starter on an Astro van. Also, all the cables all fully sheathed in woven nylon. It feels really cool, the texture is almost like holding an Oak snake on a winter morning. All the bundles feel solid; there is the ATX bundle (20+4), the 4 PCIe 6+2s, and the 2 each of 4 MOLEX and SATA connecters with a FDD on one of each, I would feel confident enough to swing the PSU around by any on the bundles. The cables are slightly stiff though, if your worried about cable management you'll need some finger strength, you'll also need to buy a pack of zip ties, the PSU comes with about 1/2 a dozen, but you'll need more.

A note about the wattage. Most online PSU calculators are written with safety zones for cheap PSUs. With this thing you should be able to run a 95watt CPU and I know 2 GTS 250s, very probably a pair of GTX260s, and even OC. The 3.3v rail powers the chipsets; the 5-volt provides part of the peripheral power (HDD, CD/DVD), and the 12v dose CPU/GPU. The 260s have a TDP of <200 and volts x amps = watts.

    My system 28SEPT09
    ASUS P5N-D
    Pentium D 950 (for sale here $145) upgrading to C2Q Q8200
    Crucial PC2-6400
    Corsair TX750
No GPU yet, getting a GTX260 in a week or so, want to the new game bundles.

  • Terrific 80 Plus Power Supply
    By A2VKENKGXLY620 on 2009-07-05
This power supply runs my over clocked AMD Phenom 2 940, 8 gigabytes r.a.m. , triple S.A.T.A. hard drives, 2 S.A.T.A. DVD RW's, dual PCIe 2.0 graphics cards, Digital PCIe TV Tuner card, Sound Blaster X-Fi and NZXT Tempest Enthusiast case like a race horse. My rig has plenty of power to spare thanks to my Corsair TX750W P.S.U. The wire wrapping for each set of wires is a huge plus.

  • excellent for full towers
    By A22144LYL3ZGK8 on 2009-07-04
I have been using this power supply for just over 30 days with no problems. The long connector cords make this an ideal power supply for full tower cases. I originally installed this into a mid size tower and found the long cords made for a messy looking install and blocked the airflow in that case which was a 10 year old Antec This gave me an excuse to buy the Cooler Master HAF 932 case that I was drooling over. The HAF 932 and Corsair PSU are now a match made in heaven. The Corsair has more than enough various connectors to satisfy any build unless you plan to install more than two video cards. It also runs much quieter than my ailing Antec 550 Watt that was replaced by the Corsair, I highly recommend this power supply.

  • Put this in your computer and just forget about it!
    By A31BXDFVZB0MPH on 2009-06-25
I bought 650w power supply one and it's great in that it's efficient(it uses less power than 350w power supply I had even though I'm now using a graphic card that uses more power), comes with lots of cables, and it's not loud at all.

If you are a gamer, I'd recommend getting 650w one over 550w because in the future, you might need the extra power and for 6 dollar more it's worth it.

Corsair is a very well known power supply company and I trust this power supply to last me 5+ years.

If you are looking for power supplies for your new computer, look no further.

The only thing it might be a con to some people is that the fan is on the bottom of the power supply whereas a lot of power supplies have fans in the back.

Works silent has more than enough power for my system,

    Phenom II 940 @ 3.4Ghz, Corsair Dominator PC1066 @ 5.5.5.15 @ 2.1 V,
Gigabyte GA-MA790X-UD4P, HIS Radeon HD4870 Turbo

    Have no power issues whatever,
    I highly recommend this product.

  • I'm so glad I bought it
    By AVAW0HU8BXXKT on 2009-02-28
I wasn't building an overclocking game machine, so I thought I really didn't need more than 450 W. But I knew I needed a very good power supply to provide stability to the new system, and to also provide sufficient cables for various connection needs. This came in and I was just so pleased to even look at this thing. Strikes such confidence. I used an Antec 900 case and this worked perfectly. The long cables are actually a good thing when you use a case that has the power supply mounted at the bottom.

Overall, the unit is very high quality and makes you believe that if your system ever has a problem, the last thing you would start to doubt is the power supply. I just so like the idea that this thing sits at the bottom corner of my computer, anchoring the entire system so to speak.

At the price offered here, just buy it if you are building even a modest system. You'd be glad if you do.

  • CORSAIR 750w TX Series
    By A3K5NP63E32ZBG on 2009-02-18
This is one solid monster of a power supply. It feels very sturdy.

The cables are long, which is good if you have a big chassis, not so good if you don't. They look and feel well made, and the various connectors are also good quality. Even the molex connectors look and feel strong and modern.

I have a full-size chassis and I'm using a few empty bays to store the extra cables that aren't being used. I can't imagine trying to cram all of the cables into a small tower; it would definitely impede airflow.

The 140mm fan is fairly quiet.

I highly recommend this power supply. Corsair makes great products and they always have mail-in rebates for the budget conscious shopper.

  • Fine so far
    By A3N8P3C28OGY5B on 2009-01-08
I got this to replace what I thought was a dying Fortron PSU, but it turned out my motherboard was the problem. I really haven't had too much opportunity to put it through its paces, but it worked well the few weeks I used it.

It's big...bigger than the 550w I replaced. It barely fit in my ATX case. 4 PCI-E plugs is a good thing...makes it a little more future-resistant. It's very quiet...not silent, but quiet.

Fit and finish are excellent. Engineering, build and materials appear to be top notch. The only thing that would improve this PSU is modular cables, but a few zipties and some strategy and it's not an issue. Just be prepared to use a good slice of case space for the extra cabling. If you're cramming as it is, this may not be your PSU. Hey, at least short cables won't be an issue.

    Super quick shipping.

This is how Amazon should be!

  • Great
    By A343GITCRHP092 on 2008-09-02
I purchased a Dell computer about a week before, hoping to make some cheap modifications to it. I purchased this power supply, but feared it wouldn't fit in the very small dell case. To my delight, it fits just fine. A little work to get it in, but the ties the supply come with make cleaning up the cables easy. However, the cables fill up A LOT of space if you don't have a full tower. Like I said, I have a small case, and I managed to tuck them all away. I can barely hear the supply when it is idle, and it is only slightly louder when it is running. Great find, and pleased it worked out!

  • Even threw the kitchen sink at this thing...
    By A3A3ERO6MDP3GL on 2008-08-28
On full load I'm drawing 787 watts (includes my 2 LCD's and my router) per my UPS and I idle at 380 watts. Q6600 overclocked stable at 3495mhz so far, QuadFire 3870's (x2 3870x2's ASUS) overclocked, 4 hard drive raid 0 + 1, 500gb sata II drive, 2 DVD burners, and a floppy all in the Antec 1200 case. This PSU is very quiet, and so far so good it can handle everything I'm throwing at it. Plenty cord length for my tower of a case to hide the cables behind the mother board too.

  • I Have The Power!
    By A1A89LQ8C1AYV1 on 2008-03-24
If you need power for your PC, look no further. This unit has all the power and then some. It'll run everything in your rig quietly and cooly. The fan is ultra quiet. It's got tons of connections. The cables appear to be high quality. It's very sturdy. If you are a hard-core gamer with power intensive components, then this is your power supply.

  • Great PSU. Worth the money!

I was having doubts about this PSU at first. After I got it, i believe i get the premium quality for the premium price. It was night and day compared to the FAR Ultra V-series 500W in terms of noise level. I couldn't hear anything even CPU is fulled loaded. Great PSU and highly recommend it.
