  • Best Wii Gun

    By A2DDRD1JAGF5Z3 on 2007-12-20
I own the product (unlike the other reviewer) so let me tell you that this is the Wii gun peripheral that has set the standard as the highest in it's class. The Zapper is plagued by it's design to be held with 2 hands to shoot, while this gun can be held with just one hand and you have the option of plugging in the nunchucks for games that require it. When testing the game with Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles, it is very easy to aim with and the game feels much more fun with the gun (in my opinion this is how Resident Evil:UC was meant to be played). The remote slides in and it is held in place so you don't have to worry about the remote slipping off. For those wondering, there is no slot for the nunchuck (like the Zapper) only a slot for you to connect it so that you can hold onto it with your other hand. It feels like your holding a real gun and it has a sturdy feel to it (of course the color scheme might not represent a real gun, but guess that's a minor drawback and really I think the color scheme is fine as it matches with the Wii). Also this is priced fairly when compared to other guns available and the other guns are not as good as you can tell from the reviews (exception would be the Zapper since it does come with a game).

I recommend this to anyone who doesn't have a Zapper yet (or for those who have a Zapper and is looking to upgrade or is in need of another gun for multi-player) and has the following games: Medal of Honor Heroes 2, Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles or Ghost Squad and any upcoming games such as House of the Dead 2 & 3 and/or any shooting game supporting the Zapper (not recommended for any other games such as Metroid Prime 3)

Note: The gun features a spring kick back (which is non existent in the Zapper). This feature is important as you can fire more rapidly. Before putting your remote in make sure you take off the wrist strap as it will not fit. Not recommended for game play sessions over 1 hour as your trigger finger will get tired.

Update: Any games that are compatible with the Zapper will use the 'Z' button on the nunchuck instead of pressing 'A'. For those wondering this does not mean you can play Resident Evil 4 or Metroid Prime 3 with the Perfect Shot as it is not "Zapper Compatible" (please check the back of any game box to make sure the game is Zapper compatible or not).

  • AWSOMENESS

    By A3PPIXME45OHH8 on 2007-12-27
This is the best Light Gun Shell I've ever used. Works great with Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, Ghost Squad, and even Link's Crossbow Training.

This shell is much more comfortable than the Zapper (I own both), you can use it with one hand easily, and you have a more free range of motion since there isn't a big thing on the back of the gun to hold a nunchuck, it just can plug into the bottom of the gun (The Zapper may be better for some games, in the future, but for now I'm sticking with this).
It was built to work with the Nyko rechargeable batteries, so I don't have to take off the grip/battery cover and risk having the remote shutting down or change to regular batteries and waste those, which is needed with the zapper.

The only thing I noticed that some people may consider a problem, is that there is no way to use a wrist strap unless you physically modify the gun yourself.

  • Great Gun for the Wii

    By A16JZ00OODFX55 on 2007-12-27
The only game I've been able to use this gun on is the target game that is on the wii play disk.

This is a great gun. The spring used for the trigger is perfect. The gun has a great feel to it and once the remote is added the weight of the gun feels good.

My only complaint is the fact that you have to take the wrist strap off to insert the remote. This isn't a big deal, but I think that NYKO could have created a small or hole that allowed the wrist strap to slide through. This will not be a big deal for most users as most guns have this same issue.

    Overall.... Great Gun.

  • Excited only to be let down

    By A3O83Z0VAXY0FA on 2008-02-09
I ordered this item after having used the Wii Zapper and not exactly liking that you shoot with your less dominate hand using the Zapper. That and having to use both hands is a bit of a turn off.

I figured the Perfect shot would be more accurate and realistic. I have owned and still own Nyko products and have never had any problems. Until this item. Which with such great reviews i can only hope i got a lemon!

Pros: (and reasons i was excited)
    -The one handed concept
    -Solid build
-Easy to follow instructions (though they didn't work)
-Compatiable with any game that uses the zapper
-Had no problem with Trigger, though no spring easy to fire at fast pace

    Cons:
I've used the zapper like i've said, which takes mere seconds to put together and get started. But for some reason this gun...wow what a pain! It took nearly 10 minutes (when it looks like it just slides in) because while i was trying to get the Wiimote in, the side slits that should allow the wiimote to slide in were no such help. It took sitting down, really concentrating on it to put it in. It's such a tight fit and when you finally get it down and go to click it into the plug thats located in the back of the gun slot it won't always go. I felt like i was going to either break the Wiimote or the gun.

The angle that you have to put the Wiimote in seems too steep. Getting the wiimote out was easier, but i still felt like something was going to break. I could actually hear the plastic moving and cracking (not to the point of breaking) while trying to fit the Wiimote in and out.

I'm sure there must be a technique for both getting it in and out, but the easy to follow instructions did not help. Plus i had to take the wiimote strap off because i couldn't snap it in with that either, i'm assuming it's a must do to use it.

I hope that it's just a lemon (not sure how, but i can hope to ease my mind) but as for the function of the gun and it's use, it was for the most part flawless. Once forced into place it shot fine, but it just wasn't what i was hopeing for.

The plugs worked, i like that you plug the nunchuck into the bottom, but i think the design needs to be worked on. I could actually wipe away scrapings of the wiimote side where the gun had dug into it.

I gave it 2 stars because though it worked, i don't want to use it for fear of breaking my Wiimote. Also for the fact that it scratches up the Wiimote (to the point of digging into it).

    I wouldn't buy it again.

  • Finally a great Wii accessory!

    By ANRR68B4HXIMZ on 2008-01-05
While playing Resident Evil: Umbrella Chronicles, I noticed my wrist began to cramp after extended play. It was due to instinctively holding the Wiimote level like a gun, placing my wrist at an uncomfortable awkward position.

So when I saw the great review of this gun accessory on IGN, I bought two. They are great and make playing the game feel more fun. The Perfect Shot grip feels good in hand, although since I have a hand on the smaller side, my hand starts to cramp after a while. When playing Resident Evil: UC, nunchuk goes into your left hand and controls the knife (by shaking the nunchuk). If you were playing with the Wii Zapper docked in the back, you would have to awkwardly shake the entire gun to slash your knife. Not ideal.

If you have Nyko's rechargeable batteries in your Wiimotes, the Perfect Shot fits them snuggly (unlike the Guitar Hero III shell). You will be forced, however, to take off the wrist straps.

This accessory looks and works great and makes sense. This is what the Wii Zapper should have been. (However I understand that if Nintendo made it look like this (like a real gun), they would have taken a lot of heat from activists. They still took some heat for the Wii Zapper's tommy gun look).

  • Best lightgun for the Wii
    By A2REHSBZV7O6MN on 2007-12-28
Look no further for a Wii Lightgun. Nyko did a fantastic job of designing this gun.

Lightguns are meant to be in this versatile pistol form, other formats that look like assault rifles (such as Nintendo's zapper) are cool but the novelty really runs dry fast as you start playing games that require pinpoint accuracy. It's a lot easier and satisfying to play shooting games with a pistol.

With that said the quality of this particular pistol is top notch. The spring in the trigger has a very satisfying feel (unlike the zapper) and doesn't have spongy feedback. The orange holder on the end prevents the Wiimote from falling (This is actually a common problem with generic Wii pistol periphials with games that require shaking the wiimote). Also there is a connection for the Nunchuck in case you need it (although the lightgun games I've played were just as fun without the nunchuck).

However, I do recommend getting the Nintendo Zapper in addition to the Perfect Shot, not so much for the Zapper itself, but you get the incredibly fun Links Crossbow training game as well, all for $20. Hands down the best bargain for the Wii.

  • ARGH! So many good reviews??
    By A1WDWB0WG4F4ND on 2008-05-16
After reading all of these glowing reviews (and watching some on YouTube,) I decided that this must be a fabulous piece of gaming equipment and ordered one; but having been warned by one reviewer--which is very vital--that the length of time between pulling the trigger and the time it hits the button on the remote seems to be FOREVER.

The same review went on to say that he had to jam a piece of plastic into the gun to make it so that the trigger while in "resting position" wasn't as far away since the folks at Nyko couldn't figure out how to measure things properly.

So in short, my experience went as follows: got the gun and put the remote in place. Played around with it, getting the feel and trying to see exactly how the trigger pulls, the weight, etc. Instantly noticed that for my only-slightly-bigger-than-the-average-woman's-sized-hands (I'm a 27yr old guy, for reference) already felt uncomfortable around the somewhat-too-wide, and blocky feeling handgrip. Started playing House of the Dead Returns--the intended purpose of actually getting a gun accessory (besides the zapper)--and noticed immediately the delay with using a spring-loaded trigger to press a rather small 'B' button on the front of the remote.

It just plain takes too long with too much effort to squeeze-release-squeeze-release the trigger in order to pull-off rapid fire shots! When using the remote by itself, I could squeeze-off 4-6 shots in the time it takes to do 2 with the Perfect Shot.

...and modding the remote with the plastic do-hickey? More complicated than it sounds. That'll be a personal mission for another day.

I can't complain enough about this gun. Maybe it DOES feel more like a "REAL pistol", but to me, that's quite a sacrifice when trying to play a VIDEOGAME with it--it's just not the same mechanics/functionality in my mind (and in my trigger finger, for that matter).

I found a third-party [or really FIFTH-party] pistol-shaped gun accessory, that's all over the internet, for next to nothing on an auction site in my desperate search for a pistol accessory that actually works, and that works beautifully. It's much smaller overall and has a noticably shorter trigger response time--that is, once I could figure out the exact angle to get the remote to fit... but nothing is "Perfect" after all, right?

  • IGN Review/My Preview
    By A10ZCE0HLYE7EP on 2007-12-14
I wanted to put this review here in case someone was thinking about buying this product. I realize it's just a link, but some people don't know to check these type of sites before purchasing an item and I became VERY interested after reading the following review. Make sure you check out the video review as well.

    [...]

Compare to the Zapper. Make sure to note the part about the non-squishy trigger for rapid firing, the easy setup and the precise aiming because those were the key points I wanted you to read.

Let me know if you guys like this product. I haven't bought it yet, but I would really like to know and maybe try out Ghost Squad with it :)

  • Great idea, flawed design
    By A39Y2I0SMP1GHP on 2008-02-05
After having this on order for over a month and it finally arriving I attempted to get things set up with great anticipation of trying things out. This is more of a warning towards those thinking about getting this who may be in the same situation as me - basically if you have any kind of skin on your wiimot (decalgirl, etc) then this thing isn't for you. Even though the decal itself is VERY thin, the slot where this goes into on the Perfect Shot is curved and quite sharp. Even gently putting the wiimote into the gun causes the the skin to get caught and it will scrunch up and peel. I'm not sure if my unit is defective or if this is just an oversight, but I'd expect something a little more from such a large third party maker as Nyko. Amazon on their part was of course perfect with the delivery and everything else, so nothing against them.

  • Decent gun but not the best
    By A1KK0WZ5WM17I5 on 2008-03-04
Of all the Wii light guns I tried, the Zapper is still the best one out there. This one was by no way "perfect". It was better than most of the others, but still had some issues. For one, the trigger was not as responsive. When you pull the trigger on Zapper, you can be sure a hit will register. On this, there was a very small delay. It was not very obvious at first, but you will notice it after a while. Plus the trigger sticks once in a while.

  • Perfect Shot ??
    By A1BWYQOV590CRX on 2008-01-20
This accessory is definately the right price. I received the item with free shipping, and handling. Could you use another adapter rather than this one? Probably, but the Perfect Shot by NYKO delivers a solid package. I use this with my children, and while it is not indestructable, it is well made, and the only problem areas are the flip-over-lock design at the front of the "gun". While the Wiimote is inserted there seems to be no problem, but I can foresee problems with this part of the accessory if the item is purchased for a child under 12 y/o, or if small children get there hands on the Perfect Shot. The other area of concern is where the Wiimote plugs into the accessory. The problem is that when disconnecting the Wiimote from the Perfect Shot, you must pick up on the Wiimote to then slide it forward. In lifting the Wiimote, however slightly, there is stress placed on the connector inside the "gun", which is static (not intended to be moved). Speaking of the connector in the accessory; the Perfect Shot provides a pass through for the nun-chuk. If the game you are playing uses the nun-chuk then this "gun" will not disappoint. Your nun-chuk will easily plug into the base of the grip. If you are in the market for a solid "gun" adapter for your Wii, or need to buy "all" accessories, the NYKO Perfect Shot will not disappoint. If you already have one "gun" accessory, then you might wait until you need a new one before you buy this. In the end, I am very pleased with this product (even though the review may seem contrary). And remember, this type of accessory is not needed to play the type of game it is intended for, but it will increase the fun, and immersion of all who opt for the increased "sense" of realism.

  • The best light gun peripheral out there...
    By A2LZ9C73W1S0NP on 2008-01-04
This is the best light gun style peripheral for a console since Nintendo's first Duck Shot light gun. Works perfect for Resident Evil UE and Ghost Squad. Remember though that this is designed for light gun type games, so there is no access to the A button. Great design how the nunchuk plugs into the bottom of the gun. I liked the Perfect Shot enough that I bought another for multiplayer. The only con is that it is a little thick, which was not a problem for me, but if you dont have big hands it may get uncomfortable to hold for long periods of time.

  • A Great Gun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
    By A24WIXCX9JL4RQ on 2008-01-06
When I first saw the review I was wonderin if I should buy a third gun. And now that I bought this 1 it is wonderful. It works best on resident evil umbrella chronicles, ghost squad, and even link's cross bow training
in my opinion the perfect shot and the wii zapper are equal. If you want to get either 2 perfects shots or a perfect shot and the zapper.

  • Very good, but the trigger is a little too tight
    By A20RH68JWGAOYV on 2008-01-28
I use this to play Ghost Squad (and I'm looking forward to playing other light gun games). I like the pistol shape better than the two handed grip of the Wii Zapper. The only complaint I have is that the trigger is a little bit too hard to pull. It's okay, but I was hoping for a more click trigger and you definitely need to put some force into pulling it.

  • Not bad
    By A26LMY8NCQXG4J on 2008-02-10
I just got this to use with REUC and can easily recommend it for any shooting games. A few things kept it from 5*s. 1) During heated play the front flip lock slips off (I just rubberbanded the remote to the gun). 2) The grip is a bit big (I have avg sized hands) but became unnoticeable during play. 3) You have to remove the wrist strap before inserting the remote (bothersome because then I have to reattach it after taking it out - may just get another remote later). 4) The aim doesn't seem dead on (seems to aim slightly lower than where the remote is actually pointing - this is most likely a problem with the remote or the game design than the Perfect Shot, I'll have to try recalibrating). I like this design over the Zapper since the nunchuck is not locked in place (which is necessary for games like REUC since nunchuck motions are required) and it just feels more like a traditional light gun. It's not "Perfect" but I definitely think it's the best out there for now.

  • No good for Resident Evil chronicles
    By A35U4HGXY7OOCX on 2008-02-22
this is not ideal for play Resident Evil, you need to be able to hit the top buttons. Mostly "A" to pull out your knife. but sometimes other buttons to dodge things. It's fun to shoot with though, works great. just not good for the only game i bought it for.

  • if I only had a big hand (or two)
    By A2T2IN1WLKUZFL on 2008-03-05
Gun is good but it is not good enough for people with small hands.
It will not fit in your hands and it feels awkward.

I was very disappointed. I read so many good reviews about it and I was waiting for it for so long while it was backordered. The reviews I read failed to mention that you need to have a size 11 hands.

    I had to return it.

I am looking forward for gun that is a cross between the Wii Zapper and the Wii Perfect Shot. If I do not find one I will just have to cut the Wii Zapper's tail.

  • Great Gun
    By A17JTZ66K103S8 on 2008-06-25
This gun is way better than the wii zapper, it feels really good in your hand like the arcade guns. It is just better than any of the other styles of guns. It came in perfect condition and is a good price.

  • Wii Perfect Shot Gun
    By A2Z3KAN228J1W1 on 2008-07-03
The gun makes shooting games much more involving and realistic than playing with just the remote. I only have two small complaints about it, the trigger is a little sticky sometimes and the orange clip on the front of mine has halfway broke off (the remote will stay in the gun without the clip though as long as you don't get too crazy).

Overall, if you have a shooting game or two that you play I'd suggest getting the gun especially considering the price of it.

  • Nyko Does It Again
    By A1ERD893AWOD5B on 2008-01-05
Nyko's Wii accessories are amazing. The rechargable battery and charging station rocks and this gun shaped holder for the Wiimote is WAY better than the bulky Wii Zapper. Buy 2 and play Resident Evil Umbrella Chronicles

  • Wii Wii
    By AECVO967GLWZI on 2008-01-24
Its a pretty good gun. Its a little too big for kids, made for adult. I felt like a real gun. The only down side to it, its the The Red Plastic on the pointer always come loose.

  • Some design flaws
    By A2B6Z5KDD4LVJA on 2008-06-03
Should have made a place for the wrist strap to stay in, taking off the wrist strap all the time is too tedious. The front bracket that's supposed to secure the remote broke within first ten minutes.

  • Works great!
    By A1B71N2FENH3JU on 2008-06-05
Just picked this up from Best Buy for $15 and it works great! Addressing reviews claiming the handle to be too big, the trigger resistance is too great, or its too front heavy once the wii remote is in; pure rubbish. As an average sized man, it's perfect. Also some reviews claim that it damages the wii remote; it fits perfectly fine(granted, I am not using any rechargable battery packs, just original equipment, this seems to be where a problem may arise). Me thinks operator error may be to blame as well, it slides in like butter. I bought House of the Dead with it, and its a blast! Sure it has the same crummy graphics from the arcade, but that's what I expected. Highly recommended, now I just want to see some more compatible games!

  • Useless on Resident Evil 4
    By A13LFNTNVMGUFR on 2008-06-07
I'm new at this and may not be doing the product justice. However...

The "Perfect Shot" is like the frame (receiver) of a semi-automatic pistol. The Wii remote mounts on it as would the slide on a pistol. Playing Resident Evil 4, pulling the trigger activates the B button. The on-screen character extends his gun to a firing position. Then you have press the A button on the top of the remote unit to fire the gun. It's easier to play using the remote alone.

While the above alone would disqualify this product for anyone who shoots in competition and is looking for simulator practice, I would add that the unit has no front sight, and if it did, it would not shoot to point of aim.

Resident Evil 4 is outstanding. For anyone familiar with firearms, "Perfect Shot" is worthless.

  • Great Gun
    By A3KYPLS0GSOL7F on 2008-01-06
This gun is great, tested it with Resident Evil:UC, no complaints! One thing though, if you have small hands it might be a little bit awkward to use this because the grip is fairly large.

  • Very good
    By A1IZ6UH9V32GLG on 2008-01-07
This is a great accessory, probably the best on the market. It is solid and doesn't feel cheap at all. The other reviews are right. I agree that the handle is a bit wide, and might not feel too great in smaller hands. Trigger is very responsive. Having the nunchuck plug into the bottom is great, and the connections are solid. The remote doesn't fall out, even when I accidentally knocked it all off my coffee table. Also, there is a pad under the orange thing so it doesn't scratch the remote. FYI - any game that offers Zapper controls will work perfectly with this too, as that control scheme simply doesn't use any buttons on top of the remote and moves them to the nunchuk's buttons. Great gun, I'll probably buy another for two player action!

  • Its the best yet in my opinion
    By A37VVDLHD4PAPV on 2008-02-13
My favorite thing about this gun is that if you have games like ghost squad or eventually house of dead 2 and 3, you are able to sight the gun in so you are able to use the sights on the top of the gun. Which makes the game so much more fun you would be able to play for hours and not get bored. I believe this is the way games like ghost squad are meant to be played.

As everyone, who has heard of the wii perfect shot, knows the orange clip on the top of the wii perfect shot can and will most likely come off. I haven't got or even been shipped my 2 perfect shots yet i used it a my cousin's house who ordered it back in December. He got his last month right after i ordered them on January 13.

So if you plan on ordering this product, you will be in for a long wait. I still haven't been given an estimated date yet and the next shipment, from when i wrote this review, doesn't come until March 18. For me my biggest complant was and is the long wait.

But if you order this product you will most likely have a better time playing only certain games that are compatible with it. To figure this out look on the back of the game and see if there is a picture of the Wii zapper and says that this game is compatible with the Wii Zapper. For you who don't understand, games compatible with the wii zapper are also compatible with the wii perfect shot.

And please stop writing reviews saying it doesn't work with Call of Duty 3. The game came out a year before any decent Wii gun came out.

  • Almost Perfect Shot
    By A1ZTIL10MHM8XV on 2008-02-15
This is pretty much the only alternative you'll ever need to the Wii Zapper. The look and feel of the Perfect Shot really makes you feel like you're back in the arcade again. My only gripe with it would be the fact that sometimes you want to hold it like a real gun with your non-trigger hand resting under the handle BUT you're still holding the nunchuck in that hand and it's quite awkward trying to do both. If not for the "where do I put the nunchuck?" issue this would truely be the "Perfect" Shot.

  • great gun, lousy service!!!!!!!!
    By ALM7L4HKZXXSK on 2008-02-19
I was really looking foward to getting this. All major retailer in my area did not carry it.
The gun works great. Simple design, great price, and better preformes than the wii zapper.
only issue was amazon wanted me to wait a Month and a half for it to ship when they were IN Stock.
After a half a month of waiting I ordered 2 from compusa online. got to me in 2 weeks and I cancelled my amazon order.
    great gun. crumby service.

  • A good alternative
    By A18N3TQMKID3TP on 2008-03-28
I picked this up after I got a Zapper, and the ergonomics of the Perfect Shot seem to be better for the most part. The grip could be a little bit longer, and somehow the trigger broke when someone else was playing. I don't know what they were doing as I wasn't there to see it happen but it seemed to be pretty sturdy construction wise. As with the Zapper you will have to remove any jacket/skin/glove on the remote and the fit is a lot tighter to get the remote into the Perfect Shot. The nunchuk plugs into the bottom if you want to play a game like it. There are sights which you can use a little if the game supports calibration, though how useful those are will probably vary. All in all other than the trigger and the grip this is a pretty good alternative shell, if you can find it.
