Professor Pocket® takes a completely fresh approach to language introduction. Instead of bombarding listeners with vocabulary words, we seamlessly weave English and Spanish dialogue throughout our CDs and reinforce key concepts and vocabulary through songs. All of this is done from the perspective of our lovable, sometimes silly characters, Professor Pocket, Desi the Dinosaur and Chico the Chicken.
Desi the Dinosaur and Chico the Chicken often sing and speak full sentences in Spanish to enable greater contextual understanding while Professor Pocket® ensures that everyone is following along by primarily speaking in English. Our catchy, original tunes and fun songs further engage listeners. Not only do our songs give children a chance to practice new Spanish pronunciations, but they also increase the likelihood of retention. Why Use Our Product?
Experts agree that the earlier you expose your children to additional languages, the better! Why? At a very early age, children start to prune away sounds that they do not hear regularly. Exposing children to additional languages early on builds a basis for proficiency later in life. In addition, children who are exposed to multiple languages often show superior cognitive skills, creative thinking, problem solving and math skills as well as broader global awareness. About the Creators
Paula Jorge Guglielmino and Nathalie Simmons Jorge started Professor Pocket® in January 2005 with the hope of empowering more families to raise their children bilingually. Dissatisfied with the existing bilingual children s products available, Nathalie and Paula (also sisters-in-law) joined forces to create products that would make the language learning process more fun for children and less intimidating for parents. Nathalie and Paula co-wrote the script and lyrics for Professor Pocket® Our Silly Farm Adventure. They then hired a professional recording studio, actors, and musicians to create catchy melodies and produce a high-quality CD. Now they are working hard to promote the Professor Pocket® Our Silly Farm Adventure CD and are in the process of creating Professor Pocket's® second musical adventure! Nathalie Simmons Jorge received her bachelor degree in mathematics from University of Virginia and her MBA from Kenan-Flagler Business School (UNC-Chapel Hill). She lives in Charlotte, NC with her husband Carlos and her two young children, Louis and Sophie. Paula Jorge Guglielmino received her bachelor degree in sociology from University of California, San Diego and her MBA from Pepperdine University. Paula is a native Spanish speaker from Dominican Republic and lives with her husband Joe in Long Beach, CA.

A great first step!

I don't know what it is about this CD -- the warm, friendly voices of the characters or the catchiness of the tunes -- but my six yr. old and three yr. old have asked to hear it over and over since the very first time I played it for them in the car. I even find myself hummning the tunes long after I've shut it off. This is a fun and easy way to ease into a bilingual education, making it completely unintimidating and accessible. As I said, the songs are really upbeat and hard to shake from your mind, and the little story that's told over the course of the CD, about the adventures on the farm, are silly in a cute and entertaining way that really appeals to kids. To be clear, this is not like an intro to Spanish course; it isn't so obviously and strictly "educational." It allows kids to learn without realizing that they're learning, and very likely will whet their appetites to learn even more spanish. Although you won't be completely conversant in spanish after listening to it, this CD is absolutely a fantastic way to expose your kids to the Spanish language without making it laborious.
Just what my family has been missing!

Professor Pocket is just what my family has been missing. We have seen some bilingual DVDs and books, but we had nothing in the music/story telling category. I am so excited to have found this CD! I have a 6, 4 and 3 year old and they all love the story and the songs. Even my 3 year old was singing the songs IN SPANISH after a few times of listening to it. I don't speak Spanish and was so thrilled that I found I was learning the songs too and that the story and songs were easy for me to understand, without any previous experience with the Spanish language. In addition, I was really excited to find the website www.professorpocket.com which has all the lyrics translated. What a great product, I can't wait for the next Professor Pocket Adventure!
Singing, Learning and Dancing all in one

My kids have listened to this CD numerous times and know almost all of the lyrics. They dance along and sing in Spanish (and English). It's pretty neat that they've learned words in Spanish, laughed and giggled a lot and had a bit of exercise. It's especially helpful when it is raining outside, and we're looking for something that will entertain all of my children (6.5,5 and 17 months) all at once. I would highly recommend this CD to friends with young kids.
Great way to learn!!!

I have three children ages4,6, and 8. They all really enjoy this CD. When they started listening to the CD they picked up the Spanish songs very quickly. Professor Pocket increased their interest in learning another language. They frequently ask to listen to the story and the songs in the car. I have also downloaded the songs to our ipod and they love to sing to them in the house. Each of the kids has their favorite song. We can't wait for another adventure with Professor Pocket.

Since getting this cd, my eldest has asked to listen to it every day, every time we are in the car. When not in the car, she'll randomly tell me the meaning of Spanish words that she's learned from Professor Pocket. There's been no doubt in my mind that both my kids are interested in the cd (even after the umpteenth listen) as I honestly have never seen them so quiet and focused - another bonus. And let's not forget that it's fun! My 3 1/2 year-old sings along with each song and my 18 month old dances in her car seat. I highly recommend this cd and look forward to the next adventure!

I have two VERY active boys - ages 1 and 3. I can barely get my 3-year-old to sit for a story no matter what time of day, and my 1 year old isn't much better. But when we put on Professor Pocket, they both sit at the table and LISTEN. They listen intently, absolutely mesmerized by the wonderful characters, tunes and voices. We have owned the CD for more than 6 months now, and it still seems to have the same effect. My 1-year-old often requests it by name ("pocket! pocket!"). I have read other reviews here saying this CD seems to have the same effect on 4, 6, even 8-year-olds. That says a lot for the universal appeal of this well-produced CD. I am eagerly awaiting the next Professor Pocket CD so we can add it to our listening library!
- Effective and fun learning for kids of different ages

My girls, ages 7, 5 and almost 2, all love this cd. The youngest is in saying new words (in English) every day, and it' amazing to hear her say Spanish words too. The music is catchy, so they remember the lyrics and thus the Spanish terms. The context provided by the very natural dialogue between Prof. Pocket and her Spanish-speaking animal friends really helps children understand the terms' meanings. An added benefit is that Professor Pocket is reinforcing concepts my 7-year-old is learning in her weekly Spanish class at school. Basically, it's learning that is fun and natural -- the best way for kids to acquire language. My toddler said, "I want Pocket!" this morning. I knew we were hooked.

We LOVE the professor pocket CD!!! We gave it to our boys for Christmas 2007 and we've listened to it at least once every day since then ...usually many times a day, especially if we're in the car (Christmas was over 2 weeks ago!).
Our four year old is singing along and both he and our two year old are using Spanish words in conversation, too! Additionally, my husband and I find ourselves humming or singing at odd times, too. :) I'm excited that we all seem to have picked up some Spanish words.
We finally printed out the words and now our four year old will read them and sing along. He's already pointed out that the "j" sounds like an English "h." I'm actually glad we didn't print them out immediately (although we meant to) because he learned the sounds before trying to pronounce it like English.
We look forward to the next CD!

Our kids absolutely LOVE this C.D.. La la la la leche is our favorite and is so catchy, you can't help but learn Spanish. We already speak both English and Spanish but really enjoy hearing a C.D done so well in two languages, just like we speak at home! This C.D is a must have for parents who want to introduce and teach Spanish to their little ones or even want to learn for themselves. Learning a language has never been so much fun!

My daugther (2 1/2) loves this CD and asks for it almost everyday. The natural blending of English and Spanish makes it a fun way for her to learn Spanish. The music is enjoyable and we're both learning almost without realizing it. Professor Pocket is a smart product and a great way for us to share with each other.

As a Mom, I love that this product offers quality educational and entertainment value for both of my kids (3 and 6). They request it in the car and sing along in English and Spanish. As an educator, I value the immersion and play approach to language learning. Best of all, the music doesn't make me insane, even when I've heard it three dozen times in one week.

Wow, what a brilliant cd! I've never written a product review before this one because i've never really gotten excited about such things and usually wouldn't bother anyway. My daughter (5) received this as a Christmas gift and she has listened to it for hours, over and over ... at home, in the car ... And she typically moves from one amusement to another pretty quick. As a linguist, translator and foreign language teacher what struck me straight off, besides the catchy tunes and my body beginning to move, bounce and sway on its own! was the producers keen knowledge of language acquisition, a complexity that was pulled off simply and naturally. One of its natural gems is how the interplay between the Spanish and English even encourages the children to think and make meaning on their own. A very sound package. But forget about that, because this cd is fun! Singing, dancing, playing .... we couldn't help it if we wanted to. What a joyful experience. It's easy for this kind of product to come across as hokey and contrived and some even have a bit of creepiness in the silliness. None of that in this cd. The silliness of it is of a natural and endearing quality. Use it to teach your kids - they won't know they're learning! Get it to entertain your kids. Use it to see your kids sing, dance, play, smile and laugh. And use it for your own stress relief while commuting, or whatever!

My 8 year old son LOVES Professor Pocket! After 6 years of Spanish classes and private tutorials he's finally speaking Spanish in everyday conversation because of THIS CD! He can't wait for the next one and asks me regularly to play it again. I can't believe that after 6 years, that this CD has captured his heart, imagination and given him confidence to speak Spanish but it has. If you're the least bit interested in your kid speaking Spanish, this is a MUST HAVE!!

My children really enjoy listening to Professor Pocket. My one year old even dances when I play it. The characters are fun and the songs are very catchy. It is a great way for children to learn Spanish.
