  • Craft-Lite Cutter

    By A3JVJHXVS84W99 on 2007-12-14
Craft Lite Cutter As Seen On TV

I ordered directly from Craft-Lite. Shipping way more than I expected. The cutter itself is certainly not worth the price w/shipping. Blade is not sharp or long enough for good clean cuts. Too lite weight to press hard enough to get a cut. I liked the idea of the extra blades but finding the cut line is not as easy as the straight line. The light only works when you use thin paper. Really won't work as advertised on photo paper.

    Don't waste your money!

  • HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE!!!!! STAY AWAY!

    By A36W3IBELA94D0 on 2007-12-05
The cutter is a neat concept but very flimsy. Large paper cut outs can become crooked due to lack of bar support past a couple inches.

DO NOT BUY directly from Craft Lite Cutter as there is NO customer service. Made 5 attempts to return a duplicate order I DID NOT place only to have them tell me I have to pay to ship it back!! Perhaps you could have better luck dealing with another company who has an excellent customer service record. I did ALL sorts of research on this cutter before ordering but there wasn't anything out there at the time.

    BUYER BEWARE!!

  • I've got a BAD feeling about this

    By A3P7E5ZA4KZNDQ on 2007-12-17
I just ordered this from the original company - Should have known better - I researched it a bit - but not on Amazon - my mistake. The price is just barely tolerable without shipping - Shipping (for 2 - 3 week service!) is above 2day UPS rates. Red Flags all along the way. Typos on the website. The FIRST THING asked for is your CREDIT CARD number. There is no ability to navigate back to fix or change things - no option to review or correct your order before finalizing (MINE had WRONG quantities!). Refuse the Upsale and they renegotiate price! I suspect any 5 star rating is from the company.
Wish I had searched Amazon reviews first. Now I have a negative view of humanity going into the Christmas season.

  • Craft Lite

    By A2J62O3W9Q9HEQ on 2007-12-02
Purchased this to make Christmas cards and used the wavy blade cutter on the edges of the cards. Lasted for exactly 20 cards and the blade fell apart. Save your money!

  • Craft Lite Cutter do not buy

    By A2ZZTMOYPTUTEL on 2007-12-12
The item appeared on-line to be a quality cutter; however, when I opened to insert batteries and wrap for this as a Christmas gift for my children, I knew instantly it would not last. To return the item was painful as Amazon re-directs to AsSeenOnTV website with NO information. You need to click on 'contact them' and they ask why you're returning and then advise of a 30% restocking fee. Will not buy from this company again.

  • Craft Lite Rip-off
    By A2W2X11XG29YZ5 on 2007-12-18
I tried to purchase this item for a cut-rate price directly from the website. It wasnt until i had completed my order that i found that i had spent nearly twice the cost of the device due to shipping. On top of this, the shipping was estimated at 2 to 6 weeks!

This is a shady operation. Buyer beware!!!

  • Great for beginners, easy and compact
    By A27X3DT0QG21GZ on 2007-11-30
I am a novice at scrapbooking and hesitate when buying all the gear for this hobby. This product is wonderful because it's straight forward, great for easy projects, and quick to use. The construction feels a little flimsy, but for the price, it still does the job fine. A couple things that are strange: 1) the zig zag rotary blade looks and cuts exactly like the wavy rotary blade. I called up the product's customer service # and they were prompt in researching it. Though they noticed the same issue, the manufacturer claims that they are cutting correctly and do not intend to replace or correct it any time soon. I'm supposed to press the cutter down harder to see the zig zag. But, it still looks the same. Apparently, after many many orders, I am also the only one who called in about the issue. 2) The surface that the rotary blades cut onto looks like it will wear out in time. You can see each cut in the plastic. Not a major issue after using it on a bunch of photos. But, might reduce the life of the product quicker. Also, in the future, it would be nice if the manufacturer included a container for all the blades.

  • Craft-lite Cutter
    By A1RXMAYGQMXACX on 2008-01-02
There is no customer service! I bought the item through Amazon because Craft-Lite's web site was not secure and I refused to send my credit card info through their site. So, since I do not have an account with craft-lite, they will not even talk to me. Two of the cutting blades I received were the same. I didn't get a zigzag blade. I wanted them to make it right. They won't. Don't buy this item. Shame on Amazon for even selling it.

  • Beware!
    By A3VPOEGTBUPVVI on 2008-01-01
I got excited when I saw this advertised - I have a friends who scrapbooks & didn't know what to get her. Instead of researching customer reviews), I went to the company website & bought. The shipping was high. There is no chance of reviewing (and correcting) your order before it is finalized. The quantity I was charged for, and sent, was different than what I ordered. There is NO customer service or any way to contact the company for corrections. They did send my order, but it was an expensive lesson in looking before leaping!!

  • Craft Lite is Better Than Expected - A Great Value Too
    By A2DSYISQJL9WJ6 on 2007-12-16
I looked at these reviews before I bought my craft-lite cutter out of fear that it was going to be a waste of money. I really needed something to scrapbook with and to cut photos. It came within a couple of weeks, standard shipping, was easy to assemble and was of expected fit and finish.

The blades I have used so far are straight, wavy and the perf cutter (I got the extra blade offer from the infomercial - the trick is to say "no" when it pitches it to you and then the price gets better). I ordered it through [...].

Other critiques say the blades don't cut through multiple sheets, this is true, but it's not intended for wholesale cutting, it's more of a precision instrument for 1-3 sheets or getting a single photo cut exactly right.

I have ordered 10 as gifts to my children and their kids for all their digital photo prints, it will be a great present and really works as advertised.

  • Sooooo not what I thought!!!
    By AKZ9NYLFYUFI2 on 2007-12-31
The light is like looking into a bright halogen light. My husband is a safety engineer and says it will damage your eyes. I would NOT order it for children. the blade for straight cuts gets dull VERY quickly. The brace for holding the paper straight is only 2 inches and only on one side of the blade. It doesn't cut card stock in one swipe; it takes a few passes. It does cut light weight pattern paper. It will not cut photo paper (at least what I use). Shipping was much more than I thought. It did arrive within a week (and before Christmas) but I attribute that to UPS not Craft lite.

  • Don't waste your money and time!
    By A2OQT2DUYT99RM on 2008-01-07
My husband ordered this for me, thinking I'd like it for crafting. I wanted the different patterned blades in a smaller and lighter unit than my big Fiskars, so I was anxious to get it. Well, some of the blades wouldn't cut cleanly through just 1 sheet of medium-weight card stock. The light was only useful with paper, not with card stock. It was very cheaply made. With the extra blades and shipping, it was way too expensive! It went right back, and I had to get the credit card company to pursue the refund as Craft Lite sure didn't willingly jump right on that refund!

I suggest that you can get a good-quality paper trimmer, including one that uses decorative rotary blades, for less than this disaster, from a company that has good customer service. It's a shame that what could be a useful concept was executed so poorly!!

  • TOTALLY SUCKS!!!
    By AZLS9MWOWIUJM on 2008-01-01
Save your money. Works NOTHING like how it's advertised on TV! It doesn't even deserve one star but there's no other option!

  • Thanks to all on Amazon for reviews
    By A2Z9JO4SKLEEUE on 2008-01-05
As with another in this group, was almost convinced by the TV commercial to order. However, the 'too-good-to-be-true' caution kicked in since other rotary cutters researched were much more expensive. I have one of the more costly ones and it is so-so for accurate cutting but good with heavy paper. As suspected from the review, this advertised item did not offer much beyond what I already had or needed despite what the commercial depicted.

  • Thanks everyone for the warning
    By A2YLDFAN2S23N8 on 2008-01-04
I just wanted to thank everyone for their information, I saw this product in a flyer I recieved in the mail today and thought it would be a great tool to have--I almost just ordered it, but decided to do some checking on the internet, which led me here. I really appreciate that all of your information about the product kept me from making a purchase mistake.I will skip buying this product. Thanks

  • Poor Engineering!!!
    By AZ3IOJV9TRAC1 on 2008-01-17
Gift for Christmas; would have been better off with coal!

There are so many flaws in this design I'm overwhelmed on where to start.

1.) The surface that the blades cut into is a peice of plastic, the blade
wiggles down the strip because there is nothing to guide it, it will
wear out and split down the middle in time. You can see each cut in
    the plastic...DUH?!
2.) There are no vertical guides for making those precise cuts the
    commercial boasts about.
3.) The light works, through photo paper, black cardstock, you name
it...wait, I think theres already a name for it; Maglite? The thing
almost blinds you because your trying to find the etched line (on the
plastic stip where the blade runs down) to line up your cut and by
the time your ready to cut you get those funny little
spots in your eyes from the led bulbs.
4.) I did get all the blades, it's a good thing because it needs to have
a decorative edge to hide the fact its out of square.

I could go on, but you get the point... It's junk. I have a GBC I bought for about 20.00 and the replacements are about 15 at Office Depot. It rocks! I think I'm going to use this Craft Lite Cutter as a back light for embossing... Gotta use it for something I guess.

    Scrap on!

  • Waste of money!
    By ALFNZKW6K8OEQ on 2008-01-14
I foolishly bought the cutter from the company website. The shipping was unbelievably high. There is no chance of reviewing and correcting your order before it is finalized so, of course, my order processed incorrectly. The quantity I was charged for, and sent, was different from what I ordered. There is NO customer service or any way to contact the company for corrections. I emailed them several times to have my order corrected before the order was processed but they never responded. This is the first, and last, time I'll buy something advertised on TV!

  • Craft-LITE Cutter ...Too Light
    By A1LFZHPUXZUWHP on 2008-01-11
I was thinking about buying this for myself as a Christmas present. However, after reading the reviews, it sounds too flimsy for any good use. I'll continue with my X-xacto cutter!

  • No Star would be APPROPRIATE
    By A5GNJD6JY3X57 on 2008-04-19
I saw the ad for the craft-lite cutter on TV and called the toll free#. The phone process did not provide a live person but rather a recording (should have been my first sign to hang-up) and after I gave my credit card #, the call went on and on offering different products. I hung up in frustration.

I then read Amazon reviews and tried to cancel the order. I called my credit company to dispute it. To make a long story short, I was charged $149.90 by craft lite cutter when I thought that it would be $19.99 + S&H. I was refunded $104.95 and I had to pay to re-mail the product. I called customer service several times and no one picks up. Credit card co. was a dead end. I am out $44.95 for restocking fees (amount is higher than the supposed purchase price) plus I had to pay about $8-9 for shipping back. I never even tried the product.

I do take responsibility for being naive enough to think that this company was reputable. But in all honesty, this is my first TRULY BAD experience on line or on tv. Thank GOD most people are basically good and decent. But this group is not.

PLEASE DO NOT DEAL WITH THESE PEOPLE - CUSTOMERS STAY AWAY!!!

  • Craft Lite Cutter
    By AGWC5VP1DZXAL on 2008-02-28
It takes some getting used to in order to cut a straight line, as the paper is elevated off the table because of the depth of the cutter (due to the need to house batteries). My only real disappointment is not being able to use the "wave" blade. It will only cut through light computer paper, something scrapbookers rarely use. The rest of the blades cut through craft type paper, and the light on the cutting line is a great feature.

  • Doesn't Quite Cut it!
    By APJLY0AXGCZIB on 2008-05-12
Because I create and produce my own greeting cards, I was looking forward to receiving this product for it's unique cutting method and simple, interchangable craft blades. What I ended up getting was a rather flimsy product that doesn't even cut through card stock paper. I was very disappointed to say the least! How can a product be sold for card making when it isn't even sharp enough to cut through thin card stock. Also, every time you run the blade over the paper, it scars the plastic under the paper.

  • Not Worth It
    By ABBY6CMWKIMXX on 2008-06-08
I bought this product because my other paper cutter broke and it looked like it was going to be great product. Unfortuantely it's not. The paper does cut the first time around and you have to cut it a second time but by that point you can't get a straight cut. The other blades that come with it all cut the same even though they're supposed to give other effects. It also does not cut where the lines show it is going to cut. Not worth the money. I would not recommend this product to anyone!

  • NOT WORTH IT AT ALL!
    By A2DCVOGIKUG71R on 2008-02-02
I bought this gadget as an attempt to ease the load making my own invitations for my wedding. Good thing I tried it out before making my invitations! It won't even make a clean line through thin paper. In addition, the measurements are WAY off. I was particularly excited about the folding blade, but it was completely worthless, as well, because it makes TWO folds! What is the point in that?! I was so excited about this, but now I am just disappointed. I am returning this as soon as possible and buying a regular paper cutter. I'll take my chances of a cutter without a nifty light in exchange for a cutter that...oh, I don't know...actually CUTS PAPER!

  • Wasted Time and Money
    By A372M1O5O9JMVH on 2008-02-03
After seeing this thing on tv so many times I goofed up and bought it. I bought one for my mom as well. I was really excited to get this amazing tool. After trying it on several types of paper I realize it's nothing but junk. The only paper that it cut effortlessly was newspaper! What a rip off. I too wish that I'd checked this site before buying.
    DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY

  • Craft-Lite Cutter Disappointing
    By A3UXIGAHT8X4YG on 2008-03-09
This product does not work at all as advertised. The alignment markings on it don't result in the paper being cut at the proper place. To make a straight cut the paper has to be aligned with the edge of the cutting rail which renders the backlit function useless. I would not recommend this product at all.

  • LITE CUTTER
    By A3ID2D4X2XAX5E on 2008-01-27
CUTTER WORKS VERY WELL ON PAPER OF 20. 24 AND 32 LB WEIGHT. IS A LITTLE MORE DIFFICULT TO CUT PHOTO GRADE PAPER BUT ON A WHOLE VERY SATISFIED

  • HELP ME!!
    By A1XOZOGKRWMZQS on 2008-02-01
    Help me!!
    I ordered directly from Craft-Lite.
    This is really bad company..
Customer service did not response to my question and request.
There is no ability to navigate back to fix or change things - no option to review or correct your order before finalizing (MINE had WRONG quantities!(over $80).) So I send back immediately..
But they did not return my money.
    WHAT SHALL I Do??

  • Thanks for the reviews, I WON'T BUY IT!
    By A3FMV5NQNH8MVS on 2008-02-02
I was almost fooled by the infomercial and was tempted to buy this item for my kid sister - she really likes to create nice stuff out of paper. I was already going to buy it today, but thought of reading the reviews first - it's always helpful. In conclusion, I won't buy this item. i do not want to experience the "no customer service," "same blade," high shipping costs, and "poor product quality." Thanks for all your reviews!!!

  • Thanks so much for the buyer beware
    By A1XVD0P66HMPU0 on 2008-02-08
Thanks to all for their reviews on this product. As a mommy of 3 on a limited income, (but so into capturing their memories by way of scrapbooking,) I just saved so much money on a non-quality product. I'm so grateful to the vast majority out there that are helping others avoid scamming companies. I will be going to the nearest art store to find what I'm looking for. Thank you!!!!!!!

  • not very happy
    By A81C2QWQL8AHL on 2008-02-09
I was very disappointed. The blades won't even cut all the way through the paper, and I wasn't using heavy paper. I push down on it as hard as I can, and I still have to rip it apart or cut it with scissors...
I would have returned it, but it would cost more than it was worth for shipping.
