  Make sure your child is ready for a Webkinz before buying this or any other one! My son wasn't ready when he got one last year - he was completely overwhelmed by the website and very disappointed. So we put it away until now, when he's more mature and has seen others play online. But little did I know that use of the website expires after a year! They send you a notice - but only on the site - so if you're not on the site, you don't know. There's a one month grace period, and then that's it - you can no longer use that Webkinz pet online. Now it is simply a so-so stuffed animal Their answer? Buy another one!

  Our yellow lab webkinz is one of my son's favorite toys -- both as the stuffed animal and as his on-line pet. Apparently the previous reviewer did not do all his/her homework before joining in the Webkinz hype. My 8yo son has had a blast with his webkinz friends, and can interact with his out-of-town cousins in webkinz world, playing games, sending them "mail", etc.
  
  There is a reason Webkinz are HOT! 'Cause they are FUN! (I even have my own...)
  
  

• Very Disapointed

  This came as a gift to our 6 year old child for Christmas 2007. Since then we have not been able to register it on the Ganz website or do anything for that matter! My son is very disappointed. We keep getting cryptic messages saying the there is a problem with the server, or something else. We cannot register the product, and it's been close to a week now. No apology, just a bunch of BS.
  
  The BBB has rated this company as unsatisfactory. We now know why.

• Site for Children 5-13

  To the lady that said the online toy was difficult for her 6 year old boy to use:
  Not to be overwhelmingly mean or anything, but I think your son must have a learning disability.
  The site is specifically designed for children ages 5 to 13 so if your child is almost 6 and having a problem with the site, HE has a problem, not the site.
  My cousin who is 3 years old plays happily on the site all the time. She doesn't need help, and she understands everything, because all you have to do is click on the words, and they will be read aloud.
  Also children who are six are in first grade, which means they should already know how to read.
  I, presonally learned how to read chapter books before I even entered kingergarten.
  
  

• Technical problems and customer service nightmare!

  My kiddos love Webkins and my older daughter has been able to play and add her new pets without any problems, but my youngest daughter has had nothing but problems. She couldn't log in, then when she finally was able to she got a message saying that the secret code of her brand new webkin had already been used, then the next time the new pet did show up but she hadn't been able to complete the adoption, and now she can't get into "my room" at all. This has happened with all 3 of her new Webkinz. I have followed the instructions and sent polite and thorough explanations through the poorly designed customer service links provided on the website and so far have only received canned responses saying that someone will get back to me in 1-3 days. My emails were sent 4 days ago. Great idea, great product, but these problems and the unprecedented poor level of customer service give this toy a poor review. I hope they are able to fix their problems and if the can't, I hope someone comes along and does it better.
  
  
• WEBKINZ-YELLOW LAB

  The yellow lab is adorable and of nice size. It looks very similar to our yellow lab,Thor which my son will love. The price was great and the lab arrived very quickly. My son's entire class has webkinz, some have several, and they all get on the computer and chat. It is teaching them keyboarding and computer skills while having fun. The interaction is great with his classmates. (He attends a very small private school so there are only 14 in the whole class) Once a month the teacher allows a SAD (stuffed animal day) and the entire class is filled with webkinz of every sort. Lots of fun, even if they were just normal stuffed animals I would like it. :-)
  
  
• Good as long as you don't want to use the internet site

  My daughter has been so excited, hoping that Santa would bring her a few webkinz, because she has heard so much about playing with them on the webkinz website. Santa was kind enough to leave three Christmas morning.However, GANZ/WEBKINZ was not nice enough to provide a working website, Christmas morning, or the 26th, 27th, 28th, 29th, 30th and counting. I have tried to get some response from the company regarding this problem, but there is no link to an actual customer service email address on the webkinz site. The address on the GANZ site gets NO response whatsoever. YOu may notice that the one part of my review I rated above 1 star was durablilty. It's quite simple- if it don't work, children don't play with it. Looks like, at this rate, my daughter''s webkinz will last forever ! Now, that's what I call durability !
  
  
• Really Cute!

  We gave my granddaughter this little Lab for her birthday. She loves stuffies and it was a great addition to her collection. The dog is soft and cuddly and really has a cute expression and drawing eyes.
  We went on the internet and she adopted her (she calls her Lisa) and is truly enjoying all the activities on the site. She already made the dog a bed using the instructions given there. With the interaction on the net she is truly enjoying this new friend. I glad we purchased it for her and I believe she will have hours of love and fun with this one. Nice item.
  
  
• Great toy

  I am very pleased with this product. My daughter loves it and has played on the Webkinz website everyday since getting it. She likes to sleep with the stuffed animal and she has a virtual pet to take care of also. Its a good learning experience to remember to take care of it everyday, and the website has fun games to play also. Overall, a great buy for the money. I think she will have fun playing with it for along time.

  I got the Webkinz Yellow Lab with my birthday money. It is very durable, fun and you can adopt it on an educational website. it comes with a tag that has a code in it that you put in on the site to adopt your virtual pet. after that you can buy rooms for your pet and earn money that you can spend on your pet. I named mine Jonathan. this is a fun and educational toy that I reccomend to all kids.

• WebKinz website probably overloaded

  There are problems with the WebKinz website which they are aware of and are working to fix. I see notices posted almost every day about the technical support problems. My guess is there were lots of kids with new toys and time off school.
  
  People with dial-ups probably will have more of a problem.
  
  They said on the site that they would compensate in WebKinz dollars, which is a kind of currency only used for virtual objetcts. Users will get this automatically.
  
  It is now Jan. 14 and I have have had very few problems over the last few days, so I am seeing improvement. I had trouble logging in and locking up.

  We've purchased other products(Bebratz, munchiz, and Barbie)with on-line websites and have disappointed. Those sites can be slow, difficult to navigate, or limited in their content. The webkinz site is fun and educational for my 10 year old girl. She says she has learned more about science playing the quizzy corner.
  
  Her webkinz is very cute and she plays with it off-line more than her other stuffed animals. Overall a great value and we will probably buy more webkinz.

  What a great idea. Buy Webkinzs animals and the kids love to go on their site with a code that is on the animal. They can also interact on the site with their actual friends. Hours of healthy computer fun and they can learn a lot. Word games, numbers, checkers, etc. The toy is adorable although they are a little pricy. It's the toy animal of 2008. This one is in high demand!

• Adorable Yellow Lab

  Those who have been to the Webkinz site know that this Yellow Lab is retired. Those who don't know exactly what a webkinz is.... it's an educational website by Ganz for children (and even some adults) to play and interact with your little pet. The pet comes with a tag that allows you access to the website. You get to play educational games and earn "kinzcash" which allows you to purchase items to decorate a room for your little pet and food to feed it. All in all this webkinz is very durable and ultra plush.

  I bought 2 of these for my daughter & step daughter. They love them & it gave them the opportunity to check their webkinz online together & spend some quality time together. Inexpensive & the girls are learning to care for their puppies while playing games.
