  • DON'T CALL ME JUNIOR!

    By A27P0MW8TE1JQP on 2008-06-03
Upon the full Saga release of LEGO Star Wars, we found INDY along with his LEGO game trailer. I was giddy with fanboy anticipation not only for the chance to replay RAIDERS of the LOST ARK, but for the chance to get the corresponding toys and the chance to see the LEGO retelling of many of the classic scenes. The re-teaming of game developer Traveller'sTales and publisher Lucasarts heralds the transition of the most recognizable archeologist this side of Laura Croft to LEGO form.

If you're worried that the INDIANA JONES LEGO GAME will be the same game as Star Wars LEGO just recycled using INDY's locales & characters, fear not. Besides LEGO Dr. Jones' striking resemblance to LEGO Han Solo, the simple action, uncomplicated controls and the team play of the first game, INDIANA JONES is it's own unique game. This time characters have a broad range of physical abilities: ladder-climbing, sneaking, cliff- shimmying and cliffhanging (literally) and this time even swimming. Combat gameplay in the game is also altered, sure at times INDY has got a gun, but ammo is an issue and INDY is more of a brawler, than a shooter. Characters use what is at their disposal, chairs and other surroundings that can be broken, then used as throwing weapons. But, what of INDY's most recognizable tool, no not his fedora, his whip, does it do more than the teaser character in Star Wars? The answer is YES. Now more than just a grappling hook, the whip is an important multifunctional problem-solving game tool and a major part of unlocking levels.

There's still plenty of constructive creativity and puzzles to solve. There is still plenty of pantomime LEGO-style story recreations of the original 3 films (Raiders, Temple of Doom, Last Crusade), true to the wicked sense of humor that makes the LEGO games so much fun to play and watch. What's also familiar is the family-accessibility of the game. In fact, in spite of the story's placement in history, taking place in the late 1930's and early 1940's, it should come as no surprise that there are NO SWASTIKAS on any of the LEGO German soldiers that INDY fights.

There are loads of unlockable-playable characters from the films, 60 in all, some INDY variations, side kicks and characters like Brody, Short Round, Willie Scott, Toht, Henry Jones Senior, Sallah, Marion Ravenwood, and rogues gallery of LEGO villains like Rene Belloq. New with the release of this video game, characters each have skill and quirks unique to them: for example INDY reacts to his fear of snakes, Henry Jones Sr doesn't like rats, but can do an "umbrella slide," Sallah is better a excavation. This feature makes the sidekicks as important as Indy and two play co-op is essiential (althought the Wii doesn't offer online co-play this time). These characters can be used for the LEGO staple the "mix-and-match" bodyswapping (found in the college Art Dept.), just like the toys. Cross-gender swaps are always good for a laugh.

Like Star Wars, the opportunity for game replay is there , instead of the Cantina Hub, Indy's school of Professorship Barnett College serves as the pre-game menu. This is where your artifact go after collection and where you can pick and chose the characters, films and scenes you will play upon re-entry (like before unique characters will provide new play options and unlockables). On Indy's campus you can unlock extras, buy characters and special features.Speaking of extras...Look for the Star Wars Cantina hidden in Cairo (with Disco Indy theme music, too), also look for other SW guest appearances throughout the game.

Ultimately, the game sticks to the LEGO formula and ultimately it works well. We can look forward to the LEGO adaptation of INDY IV. or maybe LEGO Young INDY Chronicles, I for one can't wait to play the LEGO Picasso and the LEGO Al Capone. Seriously, the LEGO BATMAN, will probably be pretty good (without Lucasfilm behind it), but the LEGO / Warner property I most want to see is the reboot of the LEGO HARRY POTTER games. The CREATOR Harry Potter and CREATOR Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets weren't very good, the over-focus on building and virtual blocks. The current format will make the 7 books of the Potter series much more bankable and playable. I've got a good feeling about this...

    Pros:

+Great Nostalgia for the Indiana Jones Fan
+Great sense of humor through the cutscenes
+Simple gameplay, anyone can pick up and play
+A varied number of puzzles through the game
    +Lots of secrets to uncover
+Music score taken directly from the films

    Cons:

    -Short campaign
-Big emphasis on hand to hand combat isn't great when you're fighting someone with a projectile
    -Minor camera issues

In 2005 the gaming public was introduced to LEGO Star Wars. That game went on to become a phenomenon. It was fun, simple and humorous. LEGO Indiana Jones plays very similar to the LEGO Star Wars games in many different ways. There are slight differences, however, and while LEGO Indiana Jones is certainly a treat, it isn't quite as good as LEGO Star Wars.

If you've played LEGO Star Wars, then Indiana Jones is instantly familiar. You'll go through all three of the original films. Throughout the levels you'll be two or more different characters and able to switch on the fly. Much like the Star Wars games, characters have abilities they can use to get you further into the game. Some characters can find secret passages, some can double jump. Indy, of course, uses his whip. There's a much bigger emphasis on puzzles in LEGO Indiana Jones, but there's nothing here that's too challenging or taxing. Anyone should be able to pick up and play LEGO Indiana Jones. There's also co-op play and a friend can jump in whenever they feel like it and drop out whenever they feel like it.

There are also studs that you can collect. Studs are the currency you can use in the hub to do things like purchase hidden characters or other bonuses. You can get studs by destroying certain objects or simply by taking down enemies.

The biggest difference between LEGO Star Wars and LEGO Indiana Jones is the way combat works. In LEGO Star Wars most characters either had a blaster or a lightsaber. Indiana Jones relies much more heavily on hand-to-hand combat. You can find weapons and use them, but they have limited ammunition. The only bad thing about the gameplay in Indiana Jones is that there's so much of an emphasis on hand-to-hand combat that it leads to unnecessary deaths sometimes. When the bad guy has a gun and you don't, half the battle is dying to get to him and take him down. Luckily, there's no penalty for dying in LEGO Indiana Jones other than losing studs. There's no such thing as a game over.

Just like LEGO Star Wars, there's the story mode where you use the characters the story gives you, and then you can go back in Free Play Mode to uncover more secrets you otherwise couldn't before. You'll want to go back in Free Play Mode in order to get all the secrets. There are treasure chests to find in every level as well as a red package. You can't get all the hidden treasure chests in a level without going back in Free Play Mode. The main campaign probably won't take you that long. Half the fun of LEGO Indiana Jones is going back into levels and uncovering secrets.

In terms of production values, LEGO Indiana Jones is a winner. The LEGO world is incredible to behold. While there's no voice acting to speak of in the cutscenes, there's a great amount of humor, and there are a lot of classic scenes that are reenacted very well. LEGO Indiana Jones is easily a looker, but it also sounds great. There are a couple of camera hang ups, but nothing too big, and it runs pretty smoothly too. The music is pulled directly from the films. John Williams score still sounds good almost thirty years later.

LEGO Indiana Jones shouldn't be missed. If you enjoy Indiana Jones or if you enjoyed LEGO Star Wars, then LEGO Indiana Jones is a must. It emulates the film very well and is so simple to play that anyone can pick it up and go with it.

  • 9 year old/40 year old fun

    By A23KJK5LPHNM44 on 2008-06-19
My son and I have been playing this game almost every night since we got it a little over 2 weeks ago. It is a lot of fun and closely mirrors the movies. The different levels are a lot of fun to try and figure out ways to get through. It is a little slow at times waiting for the "movie" parts to run but it really is a fun game. If you like the movie series you will enjoy playing this game. Be prepared to figure out ways to get through the levels as it isn't the most intuitive however it is made to require the players to think their way through the game. My 9 year old son has gotten a little frustrated at times but worked through them using patience. We have just finished 20% of the game so as much time as we have played it we still have a long time to go. The other nice thing is the game always you to start new games so my son can play by himself if he wants, save his game and we can continue on our game. Currently we have 3 different games saved which is a nice feature.

  • Fun but buggy (would otherwise be a 5)

    By AKN3ZFPRDU3BH on 2008-06-23
If you're a fan of Lego Star Wars and of Indiana Jones, this is a good game for you. It seems a bit shorter than Star Wars, but is otherwise a lot of fun with some cute surprises thrown in. HOWEVER it is buggy, seemingly really buggy given the short time I've been playing it. I've hit 4 major bugs (one locked up the Wii, the other 3 required that I quit because the required activity in the game could not be accomplished - for example a boss was out of hearts, but the game was "stuck" so that his death wouldn't complete). This is VERY frustrating and takes away a bit from the game.

Update: Make that 5 now... in Desert Ambush the tank never engaged in battle, so I couldn't go on to the next section. Again had to quit and start over.

  • SO COOL!

and there is this thing called a mailslot. you can pick up the mail box and put it in the big mail box!

and i think that is all. no cons!

  • Not As much fun as Star Wars
    By A1AYYCXEMY84I7 on 2008-06-17
A few years ago, a surprisingly great game called LEGO Star Wars was released. Now Lucas Arts has given us the gift of LEGO Indiana Jones (LIJ). Is it as good as the previous LEGO entries?

No. Don't get me wrong, I love this game, but it's not as good as LEGO Star Wars. First of all, I really don't think Indiana Jones was the greatest choice for a LEGO game. One of the many great features of the first game was that all of the characters were cool and fun to play as, but in LIJ, the only character I wanted to play as was Indy. The other characters didn't have cool moves like him. There just aren't enough characters in the films for a videogame. Also, all of the good scenes of the movies are the worst to play, mostly because the vehicle scenes were poorly constructed. The boulder chase was done horribly! Along with LEGO Star Wars, this game is much too short. I also wish they included the fourth movie. When I go home after seeing Indiana Jones and the Kingdom of the Crystal Skull (which by the way was great), I want to play the game for it, not just the first three!! Adding that movie would include many more characters, which is needed.

On a positive note, LIJ does a great job of following the movies. It still has the fun LEGO gameplay, but brings some new things like riding in vehicles. Now you can find and use items in the levels like shovels (to dig up treasure.$$!), wrenches (to fix broken machines), guns, and books (to translate ancient writing). The levels are fun and exciting, and the graphics look great. The worlds are very detailed and remind me a lot of Indiana Jones, my favorie action/adventure movie series. The controls are tight. If you don't like the motion controls, button controls are an alternate option, which is awesome. The levels are much harder and longer than LEGO Star Wars, but getting a True Adventurer in each level is easier, so it balances out well. True Adeventurer requires you to collect LEGO bolts, which can be found by smahing things or going on ledges and such. Smashing stuff is really fun. The gameplay is you run through levels based on the first three IJ movies and you have to get to the end by jumping on platforms, fighting enemies, solving a few puzzles, and a few more things depending on the level. Once you complete it, you get to see a hilarious cutscene which unwraps another piece of the plot, which follows the movies extremely well. I thought the jumping was done very poorly, because the camera isn't always there. One other complaint that I have is that most of your enemies have a gun, and many times you die because some of the characters are limited to close range only. There is no way to block bullets coming at you. However, being able to collect weapons they drop and using anything you can find as a weapon helps this problem a little bit. Another great feature in this game is that you can watch cutscenes over and over again in Barnett College (The college is similar to Dexter's Diner). The music is great and is taken right from the movies. The drop in/drop out co-op mode is very fun and cool. The controls and gameplay are so simple that any one can start playing. The backrounds look good graphic wise, but the LEGO characters don't. Some glitches made me have to start the level over again. On that note, the Xbox 360 version is probably more worth the money. Any IJ fan will LOVE this game and should buy it, while it is worth a rental for others who are interested. Two thumbs up from the Ultimate Gamer!

  • Has a few things wrong.
    By A2GRLLJC2JK9FN on 2008-06-09
OK, I agree - the camera angles and stuff are bad at times.

But, My 5 yr old loves it. We have the Star Wars Lego game and this one might not be as good as it.....but we still like it. Have had a good time as a family doing the "treasure hunts" (as my son calls them). We have learn to work well as a family with it when playing in 2 player mode.

I will be ready for Batman when it comes out!

  • Make Sure you have the guidebook!
    By A3PH6X8NLSZGP7 on 2008-06-26
This game is a blast to play. Very addicting and funny. At first I played it till I got stuck on a level. I went out and bought the guidebook (Prima guide I think its called)and its a good thing I did. Theres a couple times where it seems like you have no idea what to do and the guidebook comes in real handy. Makes the game alot more fun to play

  • Great fun for grown ups too!
    By A1E86P9ACYDMKL on 2008-07-29
My husband and I rented Lego Indiana Jones to play on our Wii. I haven't played the Star Wars Lego yet, so this was my first experience with a Lego game.

I have been pleasently surprised! We are two adults who are fans of video games, especially games we can play together. But it is difficult to find entertaining and challenging games that are light-hearted, but not violent or graphic. Lego definitely fit the bill. I was worried it would be too childish, too simple and easy. No, it doesn't take rocket science to get through the levels or find all the secret hidden areas. But it does take a little thought and extra effort to uncover extra secrets.

Plus, the game has a little extra bit of humor... the ability to poke fun at itself and the movies. I laughed out loud at a couple of the little movie clips!

I've enjoyed this game so much that I bought it (and returned the rental version), ordered Star Wars, and pre-ordered Batman! Thanks Lego for a fun game for kids and the kids-at-heart.

  • decent game, kinda
    By AJ2RLP4C12V1Z on 2008-06-21
I had Lego Star Wars and loved it. I was anticipating a great game with Lego Indiana Jones. The levels are difficult, and I end up loading my computer and connecting to the internet for an online walkthrough, to find how just how to get through the level. This is after spending 30 minutes in the same room, have destroyed everything and still can't find the way out. Compared to Lego Star Wars where I only used the walkthroughs to find the super hidden stuff, I'm using it at almost every juncture in this game. It leaves me frustrated to no end, and very disappointed at the game. What's worse is that sometimes, even though I've done things correctly (again, having to go step-by-step through a walkthrough) the game doesn't recognize it, and I have to start the unending level again. Another thing, is that the levels seem to go on forever. You make it to a cut-scene thinking "Oh I finished the level!" WRONG! And there are some areas where you must have two people to manage the characters. I've had to get my 2nd wand and nunchuck out to control the 2nd character who's off doing whatever when I need them to do something. And of course just swapping characters doesn't work either b/c then the first character figures it's break time, and jumps off the platform I just spent 20 minutes trying to get him to. I spend half my time playing this game searching for how to complete the level on EVERY level, compared to on Star Wars Complete sage (36 levels), I maybe had to do that once or twice. Overall, I'm very disappointing with this product.

  • Worth buying but Star Wars is better
    By A32SRPECRU5EOR on 2008-07-29
If you haven't bought Lego Star Wars yet - buy that. Don't get me wrong, Indiana Jones is fun and I like that there are more puzzles in this Lego version but the biggest issue I have is the length of the levels. In Star Wars the levels are much shorter. Sometimes playing Indiana Jones you're stuck having to continue and continue playing to finish the level as you can't save in the middle. As the characters don't bring diversity - seemed in Star Wars they had several unique and different characters to unlock. In Indiana 95% of the characters are the same minus a different hat or something minor. I guess Star Wars was so great that Indiana had lots to live up to - but on it's own it's still a good game and fun to play.

  • Boys can't get enough of this game
    By AKUKFI9390105 on 2008-06-19
Interesting that my boys thought their Dad NEEDED to have this for Father's Day and that HE REALLY wanted it. However, since we got the Wii last Christmas, my husband has yet to play any of the games outside of the bowling or golf game that came with the Wii. Needless to say since it was opened on Sunday it has had A LOT of play time, none of which was by my husband ;)

  • Awesome Game!
    By A1NV83F2X9BFRN on 2008-06-26
We bought Star Wars Lego and loved it so Indiana Jones was a must have. It has exceeded our expectations. My son is only 5, but he loves the game and would play all day, if I let him. My daughter, 8 also enjoys the game very much. They play together and most of the time there is no fussing ;)

  • Our Family LOVES Indiana Jones!
    By A2NYWN45E5RIDN on 2008-06-26
I bought this game for my son (5 yrs) and my husband to play. They really enjoyed it and my son was able to complete most of the game, with my husband's help. I would highly recommend!

  • Great Game, but I just don't really like the puzzle mode
    By A370EIEIJD139O on 2008-06-30
I loved the lego re-inactments. Very amusing. But I've played SOOO many games that require you to solve puzzles (tomb-raider, prince of persia, etc.) This I just classified as one of those, albeit it was by far one of the funniest, cute, and most amusing puzzle games by far. I though 1 star would be too harsh. It's a cute game, but really boring.

  • We are loving this
    By A2G4LKK57XMBL3 on 2008-07-04
As much fun as lego starwars, tho there seems to be a quirky bug. We have been endowed with 4 million (or is it billion?) gears very early on. We can buy anyone we unlock.

    My sons adore this game

  • GREAT game - may be hard for newbies though
    By A1ESQJBMB1GOGV on 2008-07-07
I am NOT a gamer - or, haven't been since I was in high school (which was over 20 years ago). For years I hesitated bringing a video game console into my house because I knew I'd get very absorbed. However, the Wii was too good to pass up. Since I don't consider myself a gamer AT ALL, my review is from the perspective of a video game novice.

I love the game. Plain and simple. But it did take me a long time to get the "point" of it. I was stuck on that very first scene of ROTLA for a LONG time because I had no idea what I was supposed to be doing outside of collecting coins and occasionally digging something out of the ground. In the end, I opted to go online. I went to the most popular video website on the planet and saw a movie of the entire first video game scene. And that's when the lightbulb went on.

From there I became obsessed. Yes, I stayed up late many nights in a row, my fingers clicking like crazy while my family slept all snug in their beds. And yes, one worknight I even played until 5 a.m. and STILL made it to work at 9:30 a.m. (I was very tired that day, though).

The things I like most about the game:
    1) Your characters don't die - that's key for a novice like me who takes a long time to get going. If my character kept dying and forcing me to start from scratch I'd HATE this game.
    2) There are two ways to play the games. Besides story play wherein you are assigned characters, I much prefer freeplay when I can tear loose with up to eight different characters with different skills. You can do a lot more that way.
    3) The secret surprises. I love that they have hidden six Star Wars characters in the game (I've found four of them thus far).
    4) You can play this one a long time before you "beat" it. When I first began saving my game, I presumed that ROTLA was Game 1, TOD was Game 2, and LC was Game 3. Not so! I've gone through all three movies a couple times and STILL have only done about 73% of GAME ONE. There are two other games to go after this one! That's awesome and I can't wait to unlock Game 2 (I know how to unlock it - I just need to get to the point where I have all the pieces in place to unlock it).

My almost-4yo son plays the game with me sometimes. He gets frustrated because he can't hold both the remote and nunchuk in his little hands. So he almost always has tears and tantrums when he plays because he can't get his character to do what he wants. But he still loves it and every night he asks if we can play "for a few minutes." Yes, the game seems violent (what with the hand-to-hand combat and guns and such), but it is seriously downplayed because it's all LEGOS. When someone "dies" in the game, they just break up into little lego pieces and then reform again. There's no real carnage like other more mature games out there.

All in all I heartily recommend this game to anyone, but be aware that there WILL be a learning curve if you've never played this type of game before. I highly recommend you visit the most popular video website on the planet and watch the first ROTLA scene clip so you can get an idea of how to play the game. You'll never look back and you'll love every minute of it!

  • Another Way to Enjoy the Adventures
    By AJ1ASDYRA9AJH on 2008-07-21
The following review reflects that the primary user is a 7 year old male and a mild fan of the Indiana Jones series. I purchased this game on the recommendation from the parents of my son's friend. The game is follows the story line of the films where points are attained and levels unlocked by completing a series of tasks. I like the game because:
    1. Problem solving is required.
    2. The game reflects the story line of the movie series so one has a clue in what to do next.
    3. The written clues are at a level that just challenge my son's reading abilities. ( perfect level for growth in reading skills)
    4. Lego characters make what little shooting violence less graphic.
    5. It is not so complicated that one gets stuck for a long period of time.
    6. Multiple players can participate although the lead character has the most input.

On the negative side the game could be played on any of the current gaming consoles and does not take advantage of the unique accelerometer features of the Wii system

Overall the game is very engaging - (I have to pry him away from the game at times) and completion of levels is a source of satisfaction. Ideal for players between 6 to 10 years of age or any fan of the films.

  • somewhat lacking
    By A18FZKZM4VUC9D on 2008-07-24
The Lego games are all really cute, but it lacks something. You can get stuck in a level after all the bad guys are dead, and there are no "hints" or directions to what you have to do to exit the level, and of course if you don't figure it out,and stop the game ,you must repeat the level and cannot continue until you DO figure out the last requirement in that level. Both my son and husband gave up,and haven't played it again.I noticed this is the problem in the other Lego series games as well.

  • Good times!
    By A19V38O2SV01ZJ on 2008-07-25
I know, I know... the Lego series of games are primarily aimed at kids. But they sure are a fun way to wile away some time, no matter what age you might be. Lego Indiana Jones is just fantastic, and pays excellent tribute to some of the finest adventure movies ever made. And as a bonus, for the first time ever, I actually enjoyed something related to Temple of Doom.

As most reviews have already stated, the game has two modes: story and free play. Story mode takes you through each movie in order. The emphasis in this mode is reenacting the movies, solving puzzles in order to move forward, and having dust-ups with various bad guys.

Once you complete a level, free play mode becomes available for that level. In free play, you go back to each level and use a variety of characters to retrieve items to add to a collection back at your "base," Barnett College. As you do so, you also unlock bonus levels, gather Lego "studs" to buy upgrades, and buy new characters.

Unlike a lot of games that rely on the "unlockable" formula of gameplay for holding your attention, Lego Indiana Jones never makes it feel like a grind, like you have to cover the same ground over and over again to advance. Instead, they've managed to hit a sweet spot, where you feel pleasantly compelled to go back and revisit each level, just to see what new surprises await you.

It's quite a testament to how well the game captures the spirit of the movies when, after each session with the game, I wanted to pop in the actual movies and watch them all over again. And the music is fantastic! The game uses the original score from each movie during the appropriate levels, which really adds a sense of polish and excitement to the proceedings.

When I finally hit 100% complete in the game and the Lego studs started raining down in Barnett College, I was actually quite sad that it was all over. This game is just pure fun. A little challenging, but very rewarding. If you liked the movies, this is really a no-brainer.

  • It's better than a pit full of snakes... much better.

For anyone who has played the LEGO Star Wars games, you already know what to expect with LEGO Indiana Jones and you know already whether or not you like the game. It's more of the same with a different theme, which is good as far as I'm concerned. The big difference is there is more platforming and puzzle solving and slightly less combat. The difficulty level has also been ratcheted up a notch or two, which I also see as a good thing.

For everyone else who hasn't played the previous LEGO adventure games, here's the scoop. The game has three adventures based off of each of the original three Indiana Jones films. Except everything is made with LEGOs instead. Each adventure has six levels. Gameplay primarily consists of platforming and puzzle solving with a fair mix of beat-up-style combat to spice things up. The game supports one or two players who can play in co-op mode at any time. All that needs to happen is a second player picks up the controller and jumps into the action. Players have an infinite number of lives, so it's pretty easy to slog through the game even if you aren't that good at it. That isn't to say that the game isn't challenging because there are some tough puzzles and jumps gamers are expected to make, but you'll eventually get through everything without seeing a GAME OVER message because you can keep trying over and over until you succeed. This makes it a perfect family game where younger children can play alongside an adult without experiencing much frustration. In one-player mode, the computer takes control of the other character, which the player can switch to at any time.

    The Good:
    * Intuitive gameplay. Pretty much anybody can pick the controls up and adventure like a pro within minutes.
    * Drop-in Co-op Gameplay
    * Lots of unlockables. The replay value is very high with over 60 unlockable characters and nifty features and modes to unlock.
    * Clever and entertaining cut scenes that parallel the movies. Fans of the movies will likely enjoy the humor and the character's personalities have been portrayed very well.

    The Bad:
    * It's a fairly short story (8-10 hours to complete) if you don't care about unlockable content. Gameplay extends much longer if you try to unlock all the hidden content.
    * Enemies frequently have projectiles and you're left with your fists. Expect to get shot when you bring a whip to gunfight.
    * The water effects on the Wii version are downright bland for no good reason because the rest of the graphics in the game are pretty solid. The Wii hardware is capable of producing better looking water effects and it's been done before. A minor complaint, but still valid.
    * Multi-player camera control is kind of wonky and it's easy to die in some areas because the camera will favor one player over the other. But you since everyone has infinite lives so it isn't much of a problem.

Overall, I highly recommend LEGO Indiana Jones. It's a good family game, fans of the movies should like it, and it's a must-have title if you have enjoyed the other LEGO adventure games. If you have an XBox 360 or a PS3 in your home, you may want to consider buying it for one of those other consoles for the better graphics. Otherwise the gameplay on each of the consoles feels pretty much identical based off my experience with the first few levels.

  • fun!

This game is a lot of fun. If you liked Lego Star Wars you will like this game as well. I did find a few bugs in it though.. a few times I had to start a level over in order to finish it. Also, it is very annoying that you can't skip any of the animations.. and before you can start any level, you have to watch that screen with the red line moving around on the map. No way to skip that. I still like the game, in spite of those annoyances.

  • Loads of fun

Traveller's Tales returns with another Lego-based game, this time focusing on the Indiana Jones franchise after conquering the world of Star Wars. Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures is exactly what the title implies: the original Indy trilogy in Lego form. It should be noted right now that if you've played any of the Lego Star Wars games, you'll feel right at home here. The gameplay itself is relatively simple, family friendly fun that nearly anyone can pick up and play. Co-op mode is where the real fun of Lego Indiana Jones is to be had though, and like Lego Star Wars before it, the game just has a sense of undeniable charm to it that you can't help but get some enjoyment in the very least out of it. It may not take you too long to breeze through the game though, but if you do, it is worth going back and playing again just to catch all the game's in-jokes and visual gags, along with a horde of hidden items and goodies as well. If there's any real flaws to the game, it's that the AI isn't all that good in terms of enemies and AI-controlled pals, but as a whole, Lego Indiana Jones is massively enjoyable. All in all, Lego Indiana Jones: The Original Adventures continues the tradition of wonderfully fun and family friendly games, and is definitely worth picking up for Indy fans or anyone looking for some good clean fun.

  • If you LOVED LEGO Star Wars, you'll LIKE this!

I got this simply on Travelers Tales previous efforts with LEGO Star Wars. While there are plenty of similarities (the funny cut scenes, picking up studs for money, minikits (artifacts in LEGO Indy), red bricks (parcels in LEGO Indy)), there are many new features; such as Indy's whip used to grab, pull, and attack with, use items in the levels (like pulling torches off the wall or picking up chairs, wine bottles, or goblets to attack enemies) and you can pick up weapons dropped by bad guys.

Overall, I am very happy we got LEGO Indy and you will be, too.

  • This game is SO much fun!

This game is everything it promises to be!! If you liked Lego Star Wars, you'll like Lego Indiana Jones. Fun action, co-operative play, puzzles, and now the added bonus of whipping your wii-mote to use Indy's whip! I have nothing bad to say about this game. I'm so glad I bought it. I've thoroughly enjoyed playing it!

  • Fun but a little difficult as well
    By ALSJYAZ2C22IY on 2008-06-29
When I finally bought my Wii, I didn't want to buy any expensive games and end up not liking them, so I ended up renting this one to start out with. I love Indiana Jones (the movies), and really liked Lego Star Wars so I thought I would give this one a go.

I will say that I really do enjoy playing this game and actually ended up buying a copy for myself since I found myself to like it so much. It is especially amusing in two-player mode and my family has gotten more than a few laughs out of that!

My only complaint, and the reason I gave it only four stars, is because it is actually a bit challenging at times. And I mean, really really challenging. I have had to refer to the game guide more than once just to get through the levels. I did think that this would be a bit easier because it seemed to be more of a kids game, but the game guide isn't that expensive, so if you aren't a great gamer, I recommend just picking up the guide along with the game.

PS: It is A LOT of fun to use the Wii remote to crack the whip!! lol

  • My Son Loves This Game...

I got this for my 5-year-old for his birthday...He loves the Legos Star Wars for Wii, and now he's loving this one too.

  • Great game with improvments to the Star Wars version

I love the Star Wars Lego game and being a Indiana Jones fan I got this to I like this game better the the Star Wars game for a few reasons:

    1. It is a little bit easier to play I have problems with several of the Star Wars levels for the Wii as they are not easy for someone who is not a avid gamer and have not been able to move past those levels because if it. (Hoth Battle for one!)

    2. It really is extremely imersive and has all kinds of fun hidden things when you take the time to play the free play levels. (How many Star Wars characters have you rescued yet?)

    3. The graphics are even better on this version really nicely done.

    The bad things:
It can take a while to get to each level from the main map menu and that gets boring I'm not sure if this is just loading issue or they did not think about how boring it would be to wait to keep watching the red line go past every level to get to where you selected in Free Play mode. If it's just a loading issue it would be nice if the screen said loading, it would make me less impatient if I knew it was just the game loading. Silly, maybe, but it would help.

Also each level can be long and if you go into free play you cannot skip sections to get to where you want to go you have to start at the begining and go through the entire level all over again. *You can stop it when you want and save what you've done so far so if what you wanted to do is at the begining it isn't so bad. But you do not go back to where you saved if you leave you still have to start all over again.I'd love to be able to skip some of the bad guy battles I already went through so I could just go where I wanted to search through stuff.(This would be nice in the Star Wars game as well.)

But all in all this is still a brilliant game and is even better than the Star Wars game in my opinion.

  • COOL GAME!
    By A2UOCOA42K1HD on 2008-07-03
This game is WAY better than Lego Star Wars. There are more challenging puzzles to figure out in each level. The people are easier to move around. There are more extras to buy. It's just an all around awesome game! I'm a nearly 40 yo mom and my husband bought this for me as an early birthday gift. Lots of fun!
