• Incipio Z-137 Leather Case fits Zune 80 well!

  Very pleased with this case, it fits my Zune 80 well. It has a screen protector, but it doesn't obscure the photos. The top has a cut out for the ear plugs, and the bottom is cut out, as well. It has a magnetic catch so the flap closes nicely when not in use. The buttons on the front of the Zune are totally accessible and useable while the zune is in the case. I wouldn't hesitate buying another Incipio case. Good price. Incipio seems to offer a good selection of cases for the 80, good fit. Please note: there is a slight smell to the case, I am airing it out right now. I don't think it'll be a lasting problem, and I don't find it a deterent to buying the case. The smell is slight not overwhelming, at least not on mine. A picture is worth a 1000 words. So please see my customer images along with the product photos. None of the pictures I saw online showed the top of the case. I wanted to see what kind of cut outs it had. So, now that I have one, I've included a TOP shot for anyone who wants to know, too (before purchasing).

  This is one of the least expensive cases available for the Zune 80 (as of this writing). After a drought of cases, where all that was available was Microsoft's overpriced offering, this Incipio case came as a breath of fresh air.
  
  Well, almost fresh air. I have to say that while leather generally smells like leather, this particular case was quite over powering. When I opened the box up I recall wondering "woah! what died in here!?" It's that bad.
  
  The nice thing is that the stench has now all but left and I have a case that protects my Zune 80, has a belt clip and works well.
  
  The bottom of the case is open to allow for Zune charging or the use of accessories. The headphone jack has a slot as well. If all you are doing is listening to music you can literally open the flap, start the music, close it and forget it.
  
  As far as the clear plastic on the front, it isn't exactly clear. I guess somewhere along the manufacturing line the plastic came into contact with the leather on the back of the case and now it seems I have a permanent spot on the plastic that is rough and stained. If you're buying for video viewing, be aware that this may not be the best choice for near unobstructed viewing. I use my Zune for music only so it's not an issue for me. Your mileage will vary.

  This is an awesome case made for the new 80 GB Zune. This company is one of the only companies that make a case for the new 80 GB Zune. The case was surprisingly nice quality leather! I would buy other products from Incipio!!!! Buy this case with confidence.

  This Incipio case provides good quality protection for the Zune 80gb. It is worth buying for. Nice quality leather. The plastic shield it comes with might look dirty, but it doesn't mess up the picture quality. It won't get any scratches, trust me. The belt clip is removable, for those wondering. Overall, good product. Recommended.
  
  (A word of caution: if you are ordering this product directly from Incipio Technologies, it might take a while to arrive at its destination. Mine took about 3 weeks to get here.)

  Incipio claims the case is made from "premium top-grain leather", but I really have my doubts. Upon fairly casual examination of the case material, it is obvious that the grain is too uniform in its microdimpled appearance to be real leather. It actually appears to be a vinyl fake leather.
  
  Also, the inner "suede" lining is microfiber, not natural suede. A word of warning to those who have a full-body Invisible Shield installed on their Zune: the lining is dyed with cheap dye which rubs off onto the Invisible Shield and stains it permanently!
  
  
  I'm a bit disappointed that a case made with such questionable materials should cost so much. Let's not even get started with the shoddy attention to detail. The inner window edge on my case isn't even straight, and looks like it was manually (and rather poorly) cut freehand. The stitching isn't straight either.
  
  The saving grace, which is the only reason for my 3 star rating, is that it does a good job of protection, (the clear window scratches fairly easily, though), and the flap shuts well with the hidden magnetic catch.
  
  The only reason I got the Incipio case over other options available when I bought it, is that I need wider headphone jack clearance to enable use of my Westone UM2 in-ear monitors.
  
  
  
  Here is Incipio's response to my email to them about the leather claim:

  "The Leather Flip case for the Zune is 100% genuine leather. We stand by our products. All of our cases are manufactured to the highest quality. This case has been treated to be water repellent. If you have any doubts that this case is real leather, we encourage you to cut off a piece of the leather and burn it. (It should smell like a burnt steak) If you decide to burn the leather to prove that it is infact leather , we will send you a replacement."
  
  While this is really good customer service, I don't have the inclination to test the case by burning it! I still am really doubtful about the leather claim - but I could be wrong, of course. None of my other premium leather goods have such a uniform, synthetic look and feel. I am outside the country now, so it's not worth the bother to return the case to Incipio.
  
  I feel Incipio is somewhat deceptive in their marketing because even the inner lining is described as "micro suede", which leads people to assume it is real suede, which it definitely is not. Even zune.net mistakenly calls it "suede" in their product detail on their site.
  
  There are now several better available alternative leather case options, and even Incipio's new aluminum case for the Zune 80 (see zunerama for a review and some good photos) looks like a much better buy.

  I recently purchased the Incipio Z-137 Leather Case for my 80GB Zune:

  I would highly recommend this case to anyone who has a Zune 80GB. The bottom has the opening to allow the transfer cable to be plugged in and the flip top has an opening to allow the headset to remain plugged in with the top open or closed. The leather is reasonably thick enough to allow for some soft impact absorption and there is a plastic 'window' under the flip top to allow full screen viewing, while the flip top provides total cover to protect the screen from the sun. Overall, a well designed case for you Zune 80GB.
  
  
• Never even got the item: Poor Customer Service

  I ordered a case from this company at the beginning of this month, and was given a DHL tracking number. Two weeks later, the package was showing as still showing in Ohio. I called DHL and they said that they lost it.
  
  That isn't the bad part. The bad part is when I called this company back, I asked for either another case to be sent out as soon as possible or a refund. At that point, the customer service person told me that I would have to WAIT until they filed a missing item ticket through DHL.
  
  Now, am I crazy, or shouldn't they send another item out ASAP? They chose the shipping method. Not me. They promised 2-6 days, not me. Yet they wanted me to wait what could be another 3-4 weeks.
  
  At this point, the girl put me on hold and another person--a customer service manager--came on the phone, and just because I demanded a refund, started to swear at me. Literally swear.
  
  I warn anybody who orders through this company. It's probably three people working out of a house, and some of the worst delivery and customer service you will run into. And you may not get your item.
  
  At this point, I am just going back to my bank and having them get the money back for me.

  I have to say that this particular case is a great product. Your zune will fit just right and it will be protected all around. This case even has a clip, screen protection, and your zune will not slip out. It works for both 80g and 30g zunes.

  Only con I have is for shipping! I payed 10$ for next day shipping it came on 4th day anyway... UPS ground is much better then USPS

  This is a very nice case for my Zune 80. The leather is high quality and the flip has a magnet that stays closed whenever you need it. You don't have to take your Zune out when charging and the clear plastic is not really that bad when looking at pics or videos.

  I am very pleased with my Zune case purchase. It was half the cost of the ones you can buy from Microsoft (available at Circuit City). The detachable clip on the back is great. My only wish is that the clip would swivel, but otherwise, it's superior. It also has two small magnets that keep the leather cover down so that it's not moving all over.

  I had to wait an extra two weeks for this case to become available, and that time added to my joy when it finally arrived.
  The leather case cradles my Zune so I am never worried about scratches. The flip front makes changing volume and songs a breeze and the headphone slot allows for quick removal. Out of all that I have seen and researched, this was definately a great buy.

  So I needed a cool looking case for my new 80 GB Zune. So I went to best buy and they were all like, "nah dude there's nothing here. You have to go to Internet." SO I was all like, NO WAY DUDES! I CAME HERE FOR A CASE AND I WILL FIND ONE!!! But I didn't. SO I HAD to go on the Internet except I didn't go to Best Buy as they MIGHT'VE been suggesting. I went here to Amazon. Then I typed zune cover and this came up. So I bought it blindly and it turned out great. Except now it's been like a few months and it's all like, somewhat worn out even though i haven't used it like INCESSANTLY.

  I looked in all the Big Box stores and on-line for a Zune 80 case. This is by far the best case for the price out there. Leather is very nice, and the screen is fully protected. Zune 80 fits in snuggly, cut-outs line up for ear buds and zune cable when case is closed.

  I would recommend this case, especially considering what a good price it is.
  
  My only wish is that it provided a way to store headphones when not in use. You know, when you throw it in your backpack or something. But, I don't think I've seen a case on the market that would do that.
  
  Also, the screen cover is a little distracting at times, but invisible when viewing in a dark environment.

  This case is nice for its price. but it is cheap leather. its clip is also hard to get on a belt and then slides off easily which would be a problem in a city.(pickpockets) but other than that i like it. its definently worth the price.

  i recently purchased a zune 80g (my first mp3, etc). i needed protection for my investment. being a "frequent buyer" at amazon.com, i searched for a case for my zune. i stumbled across the incipio z-137 black flip case. description was perfect. fine black leather, clip, protection for zune face, appropriate capabilities for syncing and earphone attachment, and price was right. so i purchased the case. i am quite pleased. my zune fits perfect, is protected, and controls are easily accessible. fotos are unobstructed and my ue earphones sound great. couldn't ask for anything more. enjoy

  Very nice. Makes Zune-travel classy and safe all in one. Also makes docking much easier than many hard cases since you can quickly and easily remove Zune from case. This is my first leather case and I am no longer looking for a hard case as I did with my iPod.

  The case came relatively quickly. A good quality product with nice protection for the screen and access to all the buttons and ports when the case is closed except for the lock switch (but I only need that when the Zune is being put away, and then it's not usually an inconvenience to open the case to get to it). The belt clip works well and is removable so the Zune can be quickly taken off your belt if necessary. Magnets in the case and cover work well to hold it closed but still allow easy opening. Given the current scarcity of good cases for 2nd generation Zunes, I highly recommend this one.

  Offers a moderate amount of protection for the money. I've dropped it more than once and the case protected the device well. On the down side the integrated belt clip does not swivel and easily slides off whatever you are clipping too. I have removed my clip and that was a chore in itself. Good quality leather. I don't like the embossing but it isn't highly noticeable. I don't know if anyone else has had this problem but the magnets on the inside of the case that secure the flip top have marred the surface of my Zune.

  A good quality case. Fits my Zune 80 perfectly with all the openings you need to hook up headphones and the charger/sync cable and use the controls. Wasn't sure at first if I was going to like the flip cover but it works well and the magnets that hold it in place are great. The belt clip is plastic but seems pretty sturdy. I've been using it for weeks and so far no complaints.
  
  New comment, After using this case for a couple months the plastic belt clip broke. I knew it would happen sooner or later so no big deal. I emailed Incipio to see if they made metal clips I could buy or just get another plastic one. They responded right away and said they don't make metal clips but if I gave them my address they would send me a free plastic one. 3 days later I got a package with 2 new clips. Can't ask for better service than that! Only problem is, while waiting to get the new clip I got used to keeping the Zune and case in my pocket so now I don't even use the clip... oh well... I have them in case I ever want them.

  I recently purchased my Zune at Walmart and was very displeased with the lack of selection of cases for this unit. All they had was a $30 case from Belkin that didn't look all that hot. I searched on the Internet and finally found the one I thought was the best one and I was right. One of the cases I read about didn't have a big enough opening for other headphones and one of them didn't have an opening for a port on the bottom. This one is exactly what I wanted. It appears to be high quality leather and I feel much better about carrying my Zune around now. The only problem I have with it is where it was made, China. That is why I won't give it 5 stars. I'm sick of having to buy almost everything I own from China. What ever happened to "MADE IN THE USA"?

  This is a great case for the Zune 80, especially considering it's cost compared to MS's. The only problem IMO is that the belt clip doesn't have a hook at the bottom of it and it can slip off the waistband if you are not wearing a belt.

• Decent Flip Case

  I have had this about 2 months now. So far, it has met my expectations by providing adequate protection for my new Zune. I really like the magnetic closures. No snaps to break and the magnets hold the cover in place better than I thought they would. The case has openings in the right places to allow for charging, etc. The belt clip works well too. There are a couple of things that I don't really like about it. The most significant problem is that the plastic screen interferes somewhat with the operation of the 'squricle'. If I try to scroll up by sliding my thumb quickly over the pad, the plastic blocks the movement. Sliding down is not a problem, just up. I can hold the plastic down with my other hand and do it, but I shouldn't have to do it. The Zune also slides around a bit, but not too bad and the case is somewhat difficult to open with a headphone jack plugged in. Definitely not show stoppers. Overall a decent case and I would recommend it.
