  • Actually I would rate this shoe 3.5 out of 5....

    ADDIDAS KANADIA TR (2009)
    ----------------------------------------

A mild under-pronator at 5' 6", 125Ibs averaging 20 miles per week, I do mainly light running and plyometrics on flat terrain incorporating all surface types. I decided that I wanted to do alot more off-road so with my old road runners approaching retirement, my spec was a trail based shoe biased towards forefoot cushioning and on a poor man's budget. I opted for the Kanadia TRs over others in the same price range for their fit, stability and cushioning. My only dislike at the time was the outrageous colour scheme - I prefer discretion - but I stuck with my principles of purpose over aesthetic. By the way, I had to go one size up to get the best fit.

12 months and 900 miles later I grew to put up with the colours and even more the shoe. Here's my résumé.

    - Comfort: Run-in period was minimal as I was comfortable in them almost straight off the bat. The fit is generally good. Front foot fit could be slightly better (a bit too much slack) which could explain why I had a problem finding the right shoe size for fit. I have discovered a minor oddity in than I can feel the forefoot lugs after 45 minutes of running and always on the left foot. Perhaps I have a very minor gait or difference in leg length? I never had this before with my old runners....

    - Grip: Bags of it. Terrific on soft loose and moist surfaces. A real blast for mud hounds.
    - Stability: Generally good but then I run on mostly flat terrain so not really well placed to comment on this.
    - Shock absorption: very good off-road and reasonably good on tarmac but then I'm a lightweight guy.
    - Out-sole wear: Wear is very good off road but I've been doing a bit more tarmac running of late and have noticed slightly more wear so either avoid prolonged road running with them or avoid the shoe if you do a good bit of road running.
    - Breath-ability: Pretty good. You can feel the draft wafting into the shoe once the feet start sweating - nice!

Conclusion: A good shoe but not for long runs as comfort may become compromised. I've since fitted new inserts which have revitalised the comfort and fit of the shoe so I'm sure to squeeze at least another six months out of them.

  • Good shoe for the price.

    By A1L52CQPI2I306 on 2009-06-16
This is a good purchase for the price that you pay. This is a very good shoe for those who run for recreation, and for those that run hard. The Kanadia TR Running Shoe is tough, and the red and black color combination hides dirt and cleans up nicely. Two things to look for on all TR shoes from Adidas are the toe and heal rubber tend to come loose after a bit of time. Overall, this shoe is very comfortable, light weight, very breathable, has a good tread pattern, and makes for an enjoyable run.

  • MY ADIDAS!

    By A13JRGMBHVLMAD on 2008-11-17
Very well made shoes. I was surprised how comfy they are. I do recommend to order a 1/2 size larger they do run small. I bought them for the working out @ the gym only but, there so lite and comfy yet sturdy feeling I feel that I'm ready to go. I've been wearing them for every day use.

  • Lil Snug

    By A2CWU1WSTZGH0C on 2009-02-10
I like the shoes because they're light weight, but they are a little snug and do run small. I wear a 12 and they feel like 11-11.5

  • Comfort !!!!

    By ALI2WG8BKQX8C on 2008-12-03
The shoes are very comfortable, i'm surprised about it ... I use them aswell for every day use.

  • The most uncomfortable shoes I've ever owned...period!
    By A1XDQP8NVUYL0C on 2009-03-13
Really nice looking pair of shoes. They are light and airy, perfect for running. One minor draw back...they are so poorly put together that you'd better plan on not running very far. Inside the shoe there are several places where the fabric comes together creating awkward bulges that rub on the top of the foot, toes, and arches. I wore them a few times to break them in and didn't really notice it too badly. But the first time I used them to run my typical 5 mile run, my feet were hurting within a mile and had 5-6 bloody blisters by the end of the run. If you buy them, keep the bandaids on hand. Personally, I'll be going back to New Balance.

  • Worth the money
    By A1S389MZLBKF8M on 2009-09-29
The shoes looks nice with the two colors and its worth the money. I have been wearing it from the time it was purchased and it feels comfortable. The shoes is strong and gives me a lot of support. I would recommend the shoes but it is not the high end running shoes that I believe would support your back. This is more for lite running but it is a nice shoes.

  • Great shoe!!!
    By A85V0JUQDMAAB on 2009-09-17
True... these shoes run 1/2 to 1 size smaller (depending on your desired fit) than sizing indicates. Thanks so much to other reviewers who also stated this as I would have ordered on-line incorrectly. Other than sizing irregularities, these shoes are great... just remember to order slightly larger than normal.

  • Superb light weight running & cross training shoe for the price
    By A1XNC41ILPF5X9 on 2009-07-04
I would agree with the sentiment that this shoe should be bought a half size bigger for optimal fit, but aside from this, it is incredibly light, wonderfully comfortable and easy on the knees for running.

Arch support could have been slightly better (if you have high arches like me) but so far no problems as a result of this for me.

  • Such a hot looking shoe!
    By ADFWXQX58UMUH on 2009-06-17
I have a very outgoing 11 year old step-son...he loves these bright and wild colors! I bought these for him when Amazon had a great shoe sale and free shipping. I love them too! My other son was upset he didn't get them! They look great on, and are comfortable. Definitely a recommended purchase and a good buy!

  • Comfortable

adidas Men's Kanadia TR Running Shoe

If you are looking for a new pair of shoes and want something that is comfortable, long lasting, and has a great look, go with a pair of adidas. You will not be disappointed!

  • Not Adidas's standard running shoe sizing (these run small).
    By A37JTBNEWVB6OY on 2009-05-05
The shoe itself is great, ..great for trails & sloppy weather & excellent traction in muddy wet conditions. However(!), I caution all "regular" Adidas running shoe fans to consider trying on a pair at a store before making the purchase. I never tried them on b/c usually all Adidas shoes fit almost the same. I have many pairs (Response Cushion, Response Trail, Adistar Cushion & Trail- all are a size 8). These are an 8 too, but feel like they could be a 7.5. Except for the sizing inconsistency, The Kanadia is a light, flexible, well tractioned trail runner- good for "efficient" runners (probably wouldnt be good choice for those needing more stability). I would give it 5 stars, if it weren't for the sizing inconsistency.

  • Best so far
    By AN8DCNMUTWEF7 on 2009-04-11
These feel extremely comfortable and have good traction, although I have to admit I use them for every day, rather than trail running. I mostly enjoy how light they are, but ventilation is decent too. I cannot pinpoint where the comfort comes from, but compared to my other (all New Balance) sports shoes they feel lighter and have better traction. No break in period required and definitely good for everyday wear. Also, regarding sizing, I think half a size up would be sufficient. I went a whole size up and feel I could have easily gone half a size down.

  • Kanadia TR, Great Trail Runner!
    By AHFQ96WKJOH4N on 2009-04-07
Great running shoe for the trail. I had to order 1 size larger than I'm accustomed.

  • Good All Around Shoe
    By A3B6FPZ7XFR6YM on 2009-04-06
I do a lot of cross training. In one day I do some running, weight training, and plyometrics, with plenty of squats, lunges, and etc. Finding a shoe that felt good for all my workout was hard. I have narrow feet and these Kanadia II's fit great! Nice and snug, light, solid, and more flexible than some shoes I've tried. It seems like most Nike, and New Balance shoes I have tried tend to be too big in the toe box and my foot kind of slides around. But that's not the case with these, I really like em!! Considering how much more snug my foot feels in them I would take into consideration what most people say about buying a half size bigger, but for my foot my standard size of 9.5 works great!

  • A bit stiff, but a great TR (AND R) sneaker
    By A21S5N7ZEU4QK9 on 2009-03-26
These are an amazing trail running shoes
The last pair I had were Nike ZoomAir-Bowermans (Best TR sneakers ever encountered, but discontinued)
These definitely filled my gap - On par with my first pair of TR shoes (AirMax Assails, discontinued)
Very strong grip to the ground - love the obnoxious color pattern
It is tight, stiff and a tad bit uncomfortable
But this is trail - the support and stiffness is crucial to avoid a rolling ankle on bends

    Update:
I have started using this along roads as well - as result of no more trail around me and giving up on my regular running shoes
I had a pair of Pegasus's that plain failed me (very unfortunate) and a pair of Asics that didn't hold up overtime (I'll give Asics another shot in future)
These shoes have now been well broken in and got a full feel for them.
I just realized recently they are rather light (compared to Pegasus)- now I understand these "light-weight" shoes

I got a pair of Nike Skylon 11s that I'm breaking in as Race Day Shoes
But before I got hold of them - I only had these shoes available for a 4M Race
They performed well, even with me running a faster than normal pace
They kept me cool and my feet didn't hurt beyond normal post-run pains

The outsole is holding up rather well with limited fade off from the outsole (Forefoot and outer half of heel most fading)
The upper mesh is definitely durable - but if it get caught to wire (or something sharp) it'll eventually tear/fray
I got a very small hole by fore foot - had to have been caught on wire fence sometime ago

I bought 2x pairs of Kanadias (different colors) awaiting the unfaithful day my Slime Greens are put to rest.

I originally gave it a 4/5 --> prolonged testing has changed my ratings to a 5/5

  • Great shoe but they run small
    By A1DV3P348Z0ZMP on 2009-03-21
The shoes look and feel great, however, they run small. I bought a half size bigger and I still needed to go up another .5.

  • Excellent Runner for the price
    By A3NSPXI0F4RQOZ on 2009-02-26
I have this exact same shoe in 4 other colors. It's my favorite trail runner so far. It's even better than my micro-bounce that cost over twice the price. They are very comfy and have plenty of room for my custom orthotics. They don't tire my feet out like my other trail runners do and allow me to comfortably run more miles. I'll probably get a few more pair in different colors. You can't beat the price.

  • Good Shoes
    By A2TGNVOTKB50HD on 2009-02-24
Good quality shoes. Didn't realize they were specific for winter activities, have worked very well. Sizes on adidas products seems to have changed. Order half to one size larger than needed.

  • Great shoes, Great service!!
    By A36QPT2NCJX9AT on 2009-02-23
I also purchased these shoes when the local stores had them, but not in my size. I looked on Amazon, and there they were, in my size and the color pattern I wanted. Thanks Amazon!! These shoes are great! I would recommend using Amazon for most anything!

  • New walker
    By A17IBW483YFXWY on 2009-03-07
I love the colors on this shoe...although it'a a man's runner, I thought it look very fem. My husband thought so too. But, I get lots of compliments when I wear them. The only complaint I have is the shoe doesn't have good (not any)arch suppport. I have a high arch, and addidas is known for not having good arch support in their shoes. I wear them alot anyway. I have to add my own arch supporters.

  • Wrong sizing
    By AHTSOZ0TZ9PBB on 2009-07-04
The shoe is not well sized. The deal in my opinion was not good because the shoes are not well sized according to ADIDAS mens standards.
I bought this item as fathers day gift and now he can not wear the shoes because they are too tight.
The size is MEN / boys, but on the features and descriptions of the article never appeared this ¨special condition¨.
I picked 8.5 M standard size and I received another thing.

  • Adidas Men's Kanadia Running Shoe, Black/Red/Lead
    By A1NN9JWMD1PS88 on 2009-06-14
This is exactly the running shoes that I've always wanted - perfect fit and finish. It's light weight too, making it ideal for running and everyday use. This is highly recommended, buy it and you won't regret it.

i bough those shoes for my husband and he couldn't wear then at all, i think that we should buy them at least one and a half size bigger, i didn't return it and my nephew is wearing them, he seems to be very happy.
