A Good Buy By A1BWOF44IJOTOL on 2008-03-28
The Frontman for the Wii is an excellent choice if you want a cheaper, good second guitar for your Guitar Hero. It comes already put together. I could not see that the neck detaches (I was too busy playing instead of looking at the neck). Apparently, there are two different color choices. I received the yellow guitar with white and black pick guards. The other option is a white guitar with black and purple pick guards. There is currently no option for color choice on Amazon - what you get is what you get.
The guitar is comparable to the original, the Frontman is slightly bigger and slightly heavier. The buttons and strum bar are tight and I feel like it is better quality than the original. The strap feels like it is a bit shorter, but not a big problem. In all, I think I like it better than the original! I would suggest getting it as the second guitar for the co-op mode.
Excellent GH3 Guitar By A3IUI5VN3J92SK on 2008-04-14
Just bought the FrontMan Wireless Guitar for the Wii and love it! In my opinion it's just as good as (if not a tad better than) the original one that came with the game. I like the fact the buttons feel a bit tighter and the fret bar seems to be a tad quieter. I purchased mine in a local game store and it was still $10.00 less than the original and well worth it to me!
Junk By A65URPP2EOFZH on 2008-04-07
We got our 2nd guitar (the frontman)recently and it was junk...3 different people tried to play it and it did the same to all...among the problems we had it cut the notes off when you were still holding it down and we had to return it for a refund...plan to get a les paul as the reviews i have seen for that guitar are better...would not get the generic one again...hope the one made by the same company as the game will work better..it cant work any worse
It's OK, but not as good as the Activision Les Paul By A27NX3U1A6P30Z on 2008-07-12
As a huge fan of Guitar Hero 3, I bought the Nyko Frontman with eager anticipation that this guitar would be an equivalent, second controller for the GH3 game. Unfortunately, after using the Frontman controller, I greatly prefer the original Activision Les Paul controller that came with GH3.
First the good things: the Frontman controller does seem to be well constructed. The buttons all seem to be of high quality, and the design looks pretty cool. The whammy bar is also much more solid than on the GH3 Les Paul controller.
The main problem with this controller, however, is that the fret buttons are quite stiff. There is definite resistance in pushing these buttons down, and this resistance makes it fairly tough to play difficult solos in Expert mode. The fret buttons are also rounded and recessed, which again make them difficult to press quickly (the roundness also makes them difficult to hold for long periods of time). I became quite frustrated using the Nyko controller with tough GH3 songs.
One last downside - the Nyko controller, just like the GH3 Les Paul, is not compatible with Wii Rock Band. It's amazing how many accessory guitar controllers we have to buy just to have guitar and bass on both GH and Rock Band. Sigh...
In conclusion - the price difference between the Nyko controller and the Activision Les Paul ($10 currently) is not enough, in my opinion, to justify the stiff controls of the Nyko controller.
Nyko Guitar By AT5FL0AYY584Q on 2008-05-23
The frontman is made really sturdy. While it does not have a detachable neck. It's button's I like alot better then the Guitar Hero 3 Guitar. I owned both guitars at one time but kept the Nyko brand because I liked the feel and look better.
- Doesn't work
     By A1ODJE7UGW13U3 on 2008-04-02
After waiting several weeks for the unit to ship, we opened the box, hooked it up... and got nothing. The unit is defective. My son is sorely disappointed. The guitar looks a bit cheaper than the original. Buttons are smaller, but it is hard to test something that won't work (even after we made sure we had all Wii updates). We will be sending it back... will try for a replacement once and perhaps review again.
- Works like a charm
     By A37X13OR6G14WR on 2008-04-02
Just got the guitar yesterday. Played co-op all night long, the whole unit feels better than the stock guitar that came with GHIII.
- I would get the Les Paul
     By A32HO2WCUFXRJ4 on 2008-04-14
My guitar works fine, but I have to complain about the buttons. Not very responsive and they seem to stick a little. I would recommend spending the extra $10 and buying the Les Paul.
- As good as GHIII
     By A19A5D8OGOW8PA on 2008-04-14
plays as good as GH III guitar. only down side is no removable neck makes it a little less portable.
- Wii FrontMan Controller
     By A1S8I45L6SROIX on 2008-05-05
This controller works great. The only complaint is the location of the silver buttons under the whammy bar. I find that I frequently bump these buttons, causing the game to pause.
- A great guitar at a great price
     By AHCA5QJLB0KGU on 2008-07-03
I was a bit hesitant going with a non "Guitar Hero" branded guitar, especially with some of the less than favorable reviews, but I am glad I took the chance. The Price for the Frontman is much more reasonable and so far the guitar has worked perfectly. I have not noticed any difference between it and the branded guitar. I am not quite sure yet, but I might even say I like it better. So if you are tired of playing Guitar Hero alone, I strongly recommend getting the frontman and saving a little cash for another game.
- Love it!
     By AGDTP0D8SV4IZ on 2008-04-24
Seems stockier and tougher than the Les Paul Wireless for the Wii so I love it. Button respond just well. My third song with it I got 100 percent!!! 5 stars!
- Great price!
     By AQZFBMFWODM7N on 2008-05-08
We are very happy with this guitar and have had no problems with it. A great buy for a second guitar.
- Late response time
     By A35LSP056H8IFN on 2008-05-16
The guitar has the same functionality as the original. It however has a slow response making it necessary to play slightly ahead of the music. Takes a liitle getting used to.
- Excellent guitar for the price
     By AY62VVFQXCAQG on 2008-06-23
This guitar has about the same quality as the OEM guitar. Nothing sticks in over a month of hard play, key response is fast and predictable.
- Gets the job done
     By A98LYNZMQ63XQ on 2008-06-26
It's not as good as the guitars that come with the game or are officially associated, however it is a better price and will certainly satisfy if you're looking to get a replacement or want to add a second for multiplayer action.
- AWESOME second guitar for Wii
     By A3RIID0WUY532O on 2008-05-01
this guitar ROCKS! just what you need to play bass or play cooperative on guitar hero. well made and durable.
- Not As Good
     By AD5FNFW9CVNTQ on 2008-05-09
I ordered this guitar not realizing that its not made by the same people that built the guitar that comes with the guitar hero wii game. It worked ok but NOT as good as the original guitar..so i recomend that you get the wii les paul by activision instead.
- Awesome guitar
     By A7ZGML2UNVYD8 on 2008-07-20
It works well. Just like the one that comes in the box. Wish there were stickers though!
- A Good Alternative
     By A1VWYUNE3GYCGS on 2008-08-27
It's not of the same quality as the official GH3 Les Paul, but it's close enough to make it a good deal. It takes a little more effort to press the buttons than on the official guitar. Everything else works just fine.
One thing to note: Even though I ordered the "white" version, I received a "yellow" guitar. I didn't care, but you might.
- good value
     By ARQRX66RU0C6H on 2008-09-15

- wii frontman
     By A9UPKJR195KPO on 2008-09-17
great addition to the wii guitar hero. it works great. it's yellow, which distiguishes it from the other guitar. i like it. My girlfriend prefers the original.
- Cheaper is Better!
     By A15YE7KFOC6CD9 on 2008-10-21
This guitar works just as well as the expensive ones that you can buy. I actually prefer to use this one. Don't be afraid to buy this one.
- this works great with game
     By A2097WPTXSIAP0 on 2008-05-09

- Frontman Wireless
     By A1OPJFULAXYQJB on 2008-05-29
This is so much fun. Warning: You really have to hit the fret buttons at the right time to work. Very unforgiving at times but still the best.
