Buxton over the shoulder organizer By A3QLMB8P4DK39P on 2007-08-27
I bought this organizer purse to carry while on vacation last week; and although the leather is nice and the purse is easier to carry than a shoulder bag if you pack it very lightly, I was disappointed in the way things fit in it. The inside pockets are only secured with a flap, so if you happen to tilt the purse when laying it on the seat next to you, everything spills out. Small items like lipstick or pens are not secure. One of the outer zipper pulls came off the third day I carried it. It's very clumsy to carry if you load it up like they demonstrate on TV, which of course is why I bought the purse. I would not buy this item again.
I thought this purse was Leather. By A3Q1DV9BLUEZWK on 2007-10-02
Buxton USED to be a name you could count on for quality. This shoulder purse is 1/3 leather, 1/3 plastic and 1/3 fabric. The canvas strap looks like something that belongs in my camping gear. If you're looking for style, this purse falls in line with a fanny-pack.
What fits By A2VB5M6KB7V3SN on 2007-12-25
I bought this bag cause it looked like it held alot in a compact space. Here is what fits, it has a zippered compartment on the outside flap, it will hold something smaller than a length of a check book and I can put my fist in it but you probably don't want anything too bulky, in that you need to have the zipper closed or stuff will fall out. On the other side it has another compartment it will fit a checkbook size item, other than that it's the same as what I just mentioned. On the inside zippered mesh part, it will fit an item less than 3/4 th the length of a checkbook about fist size also. On the inside it has 2 seperate compartments one is stationary and that is the section that will expand a couple of inches by unzipping the outer zipper all the way around, it will hold about 2 1/2 paperback books and a brush on the side. The other compatment will fit about 1 1/2 paperback books it also has a zippered mesh compartment it will hold items about the length of a pen about fist size, it has 2 outer side zippers that will expand that section a couple of inches, but if you do that and fill both inner compartments the flap probably won't snap closed. Both the inner compartments have a couple of sections that will hold items about the size of a toilet paper roll. Yes it can hold a cell phone. the handle is canvas and expandable. So if you don't over fill the bag it will be fine, I don't know how they fit all that stuff from their commercial into the bag with out it being too bulky and unclosable. I like that it is leather on the outside and is over the shoulder and is compact.
This bag is a piece of junk By A3MNA06C7IHH1N on 2008-01-05
If I found this bag at Goodwill for a buck, I wouldn't buy it. First off, my cell phone won't even begin to fit in the pouch. (Neither would three other peoples). It needs a hook or such to put your keys. The expandable part only gets bigger at the bottom, the top part is fixed, and I think it is too tight. I put two diapers, a travel size of baby wipes, a travel pack of kleenex and a travel size vaseline and the the thing was busting at the seams. There is no earthly way all the stuff on TV fit in there. I wish I had physically seen the bag before I bought it.
Great for the Money! By A2LIPC98941D8D on 2008-02-10
I have read negative reviews about this purse that included complaints about the nylon webbing strap,(The nylon strap puts it in the same class as fanny packs!) the nylon fabric lining, the durability and the phone pouch being too small. Watch the commercial closely! The pouch is made for a CONVENTIONAL small flip-phone, NOT large non-folding phones!
The nylon strap looks fine, and is considerably stronger than it would be if it were leather! If you want a GUCCI purse, go spend a hundred bucks! What in the world do people expect for $20.00 ??? This is a great purse for casual and everyday use, but it is not a suitcase or overnight bag! I think the durability complaints come from people that are OVERSTUFFING this purse. For the money, this is a great bag, and the cross-strap design really takes a strain off my back.
- It was just as I expected
     By A2PER3T1BPBBC4 on 2008-01-25
For $20.00, I got what I expected. I have a bad shoulder and regular purses are too heavy. This purse crosses from one side to the other and does not put any pressure on my shoulder. It leaves both hands free and is easy to get into when shopping.
It should have a snap over the middle section because items like lipsticks can easily fall out when it is tipped over. My cell phone fits just fine, but I wish they had a space for eyeglasses on the outside.
The first zipper pocket is where I keep my money and it is very convenient there.
The commercial on TV shows a LOT of stuff going in the purse, but you notice she model never puts the purse on because it would be way too big.
But, for the price, I like it.

- can it smell any worse?
     By A2XARQYZDYVOCS on 2008-02-10
I got this to carry my camera and other small items when working in the field. It took longer they they quoted to get here and then when it did I opened the package.. and the smell was over whelming...
I don't know what kind of chemicals they are using in China to cure the "leather" but WOW its bad. My husband even walked into the room where the purse was and asked what the chemical smell was.
the good news is my camera will fit in it but will not hold nearly as much as i thought.
- A fool and his money are soon parted
     By A1JAJUS4MWZNII on 2008-02-24
This bag is the biggest waste of money yet - the nylon strap is made of a cheap webbing, and the lining is cheap - it also looks bigger than it is - it really is not much bigger than a fanny pack. I paid the extra 10.00 for the premium leather - the leather is still cheap (I hate to think what the regular price one is like). If you think you are paying 19.95 think again.... my experience cost me over 50.00. The Canadian price is 29.95, even though the dollar is near par right now, then the extra ten for 'premium' leather, then s/h, then taxes.... it was outrageous. I should have gone to a good handbag shop with my 50.00 and purchased a good quality purse. Dont bother trying to reach these people by phone either - you will never be able to speak to anyone in person. Shame on Buxton for having their name on this cheap piece of rubbish, and for fooling their customers.... I will never buy one of their products again; I will also NEVER buy anything from a TV ad again either. Lesson learned!!
- Not nearly as roomy as informercial suggests!
     By A2BHWE51CCGL25 on 2008-02-23
I also saw this on the infomercial and needed something to hold a lot of stuff but allow my hands to be free. I have 3 little kids and naturally carry too much stuff, including hand gel, pens, pads of paper, wallet, checkbook, lipsticks, matchbox cars, etc. By the time I got it all in there, the bag was ready to burst and I could not attach the snap. Also, as one other reviewer noted, it smelled awful!! I sent my back the next day.
- You Certainly Don't Get What You See on TV!!
     By A1NTXTGV26MXZP on 2008-04-04
We ordered two of these bags, completely glamourised by what we saw on the infomercial. When I opened the box, I was completely confounded. How do they get all that stuff in there? I can't even fit my wallet into the main compartment! It's also very cheaply made - far too much velcro and flimsy zippers that look as if they might break after a few uses. As for bottled water...right, you might squash the bottles in there IF they're empty! Even then, I don't think you'd get the zippers closed. Very unsatisfactory item.
- As Advertised, Worth the Price
     By A3TFK6JYPJLS0R on 2008-03-19
This is a lengthy review, but I wanted to include details and info I had looked for but could not find prior to ordering this product.
I ordered my bag through a mail order catalog website on March 4 and received it today (March 18). I live in Alaska, and after reading so many bad reviews describing extended shipping times, I was pleasantly surprised to get it this quickly. The catalog company had sent me e-mails that both confirmed my order and provided me with a tracking number, so I was able to follow the shipping progress online.
The bag arrived in excellent shape, although it did have a very heavy leathery, shoe-polish-y type smell. It smelled like a local leather goods shop. The leather was unmarred, all the seams were tight and secure, and the zippers in good working order. The size was what I expected. The zippers and hardware were black to match the leather, although I understand that other bag colors have silvertone hardware (eliminating them from consideration for me; I hate silver/chrome hardware). I think it's a nice-looking bag, although more practical than fashionable, due mainly to the fabric webbing strap. This disappointed me, as I was hoping the strap would be leather. However, my lifestyle is pretty casual and my job is non-corporate, so the bag will be appropriate for most daily situations I encounter.
The cell phone pouch will be a godsend (why is such a simple feature so hard to find?) and it is a perfect fit for my phone, a Motorola v197 flip phone. A standard candybar cell phone would also fit well, but I don't think there's any way a non-folding or non-sliding smartphone (like an iPhone, Treo, or Q) would fit into the fairly small pouch. You might be able to use it for eyeglasses or sunglasses. There are pockets sewn into the lining of the inside compartments that would fit an iPod or a smartphone, but I would put these items into some sort of protective case first because the lining material is very thin nylon, not the heavier canvas that you sometimes find in handbags.
There are several sizes of pockets available throughout the inner compartments that will fit pens, a small memo-size notepad, glasses, a small container of hand lotion or Purell, a packet of tissues, etc. None of these pockets is secured, though, so things could fall out of them. There are several credit card slots. There are two fairly large zippered compartments with netting, and there are two large external zippered compartments, one on the front flap and one on the back side of the bag.
If I had tried to transfer everything as-is from my current purse to this bag, I would not have enough room for it all. But I transferred my cosmetics from my normal pouch into one of the zippered netting compartments, and my wallet (oversized checkbook-type) contents to the built-in slots and compartments, and I have loads of room left over. If the leather and the construction prove to be of good quality and durable, this bag will be excellent to travel with. There is plenty of room for my travel documents, iPod, a SMALL bottle of water, a paperback book or small e-reader, and my around-the-neck personal air purifier; MAYBE even my compact travel umbrella.
At this point, I'm pleased with the bag; I feel like it is worth the $19.95 I paid for it. Only time will tell how well-made and durable it actually is.
- Review of Order of Buxton Bag.
     By AO85IV7HV5P68 on 2008-04-09
I had ordered this bag from the Buxton company, after waiting 8 weeks I was told it would be back-ordered for another 5 weeks. I was angry and I cancelled the order and got on Amazon.com witch is what I should have done in the first place. I received my bag in about a week. I am very happy with it. It is exactly what I was expecting. About the smell, that is a natural smell of tanned leather. I have bought a lot of leather products and they all smell the same. This bag is very nice and has enough room to put all my things in. It is also handy for going to the store or the casino. I don't have to worry about losing the bag. Thanks!
- This bag is a piece of crap
     By A36ONLJCKGSJ3Y on 2008-05-02
I saw the ad on T.V. and ordered the bag for my girlfriend, because she never can keep track of her stuff (money, checks, cell phone, keys, etc.)
I also paid the extra $[...] for "premium" leather. I ordered the bag January 12th and it didn't come in the mail until 3 months later in mid-April. My girlfriend took the purse out of the packaging and it had 3 white stains on it, which looked like paint. The "premium" leather was obviously cheap and I don't think it was leather at all. Felt more like vinyl.
She has had the bag for three weeks and the strap is starting to fray. To say the least, I am extremely dissapointed and am embarrassed that I bought my girlfriend this crap for her birthday.
I have little trust left for products sold on T.V. Bottom line: DO NOT BUY THIS BAG!
- Good handbag
     By A1PPS91NLI7KEH on 2008-03-04
I also am surprised by all of the negative reviews. I like this bag. The soft leather is very nice. I like the cell phone holder being on the strap and very accessible. I like how the bag has lots of compartments and how it can be expanded. I was really sold on the bag for the fact that I can put my ebookreader with it's cover on in the handbag and not have to remove anything else to make room for it. You have to use common sense as to how full to stuff the bag. As long as I can carry my phone, glasses, ebookreader, and compact and comb - I'm happy.
- Buxton Over The Shoulder Sling Organizer Bag
     By ARISCRXV9TEJP on 2008-03-14
This purse is very small, notwithstanding its expasion capabilities. I do not see how it can hold all personal items and a bottle of water and umbrella. It is just too small.
- AWFUL AWFUL AWFUL!!!!!!!
     By A1PITQIJO2I9BZ on 2008-03-17
This bag is horrible. It is very small, made of a very cheap "Leather" and the lining is cheap as well; in fact, mine had a tear in it. Everything falls out of this bag!!!! DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY. GO TO YOUR LOCAL WALMART AND BUY A BETTER BAG FOR $7.00!!!!
- Buxton Bag
     By A3V7YBDGZ1JM9U on 2008-03-24
I ordered two of these from the infomercial (one red, one black). While they do hold quite a bit of "stuff," I was very disappointed in the smell! I carried one for a few days and got a headache. I have since put each in a plastic bag with baking soda and hope that helps. I wouldn't buy again or recommend to anyone for that reason.
- Buxton Bag lasts about a month
     By A23GR79TUED3FD on 2008-03-26
I bought this bag for my mother because she's always looking for something she lost in her purse. She loaded it up with the things that fit in the bag and for about two weeks, it worked well for her. Although it didn't come with the advertised key finder, after I spent about 20 minutes waiting for a customer service rep, I gave up. Overall, it's an innovative design and she liked it.
Then the strap started to fray. It has only been since the middle of January, so two months, and the strap is hanging on by a string.
To sum up, nice idea, horrible quality. If it's meant for day to day use, it needs to be made better.
- Buxton Organizer - Bombed!
     By A2Z8EWMBXV788G on 2008-04-27
I hesitate to even give this product a star. Like many others, I was impressed with the commercial and thought this product was just what I was looking for. WRONG! The idea might be good, but the product is horrible! The leather is an insult to the term "genuine leather." I have had cheap fake leather products that seemed ritzy in comparison to this bag. It's so flimsy and low quality I won't be surprised if this item is found on dollar store shelves a year from now. The bag also has a terrible odor to it when you first get it. I had to put it in the garage to air it out before I could even give it a proper inspection. Some people and businesses that sell this product on Ebay even warn in their sales pitch that the item will have a strange smell when you receive it and will need to be aired out in a ventilated area to rid it of the smell. Overall .. BIG BIG disappointment. I probably won't ever buy an "as seen on TV" product again!!
- Only holds tiny items
     By A19D6I4BWEWV3N on 2008-05-01
I just purchased this item from a local retailer. I'm a Mom, and I usually have to carry a totebag so I will have a place to hold the toys, handheld video games, and even rocks that my kids want to save for their collections. I was hoping this bag would allow me to give up my tote bag in favor of a smaller more fashionable bag.
I tried to put my checkbook and calculator (same size as the checkbook) into the purse, but I wanted it to be easily accessible to me, so I put it in one of the inside pockets (only place it would fit...doesn't fit in the outer zippered pockets), but this concerned me because my checkbook could easily fall out of the purse this way.
My 5x7 journal fit into the larger compartment...but then the front flap wouldnt close! It can't handle a 5x7 thin journal? Then I tried my hairbrush...nope, flap wouldn't close and latch. No security at all. Goodness me.
My wallet wouldn't fit into the wallet compartment, so I had to stuff that into the big compartment as well, which ended up stuffed so tightly I couldn't find anything in it.
Also, the bag is expandable at the bottom, but the top of the compartments do not expand, so you're stuffing your hand into a tight place in order to reach items at the wider bottom.
I'm truly dissatisfied with this. I'm much better off with my tote bag. At least I can fit my whole hand into it and have room to move things around in order to find the item I need. With the Buxton, I'd have to dump the bag in order to find what I needed. Just not practical.
- Buxton Bombs!
     By A2JOI70JVP09B2 on 2008-03-26
This bag is a huge rip off! It is quite soft but the overwhelming stench wouldn't allow my wife to use it. I left it out of the bag for several days and it completely stunk the house and my truck up. NOT recommended...
- Buxton Over the Shoulder Bag
     By A56U3JJ96FK3J on 2008-03-27
This bag does not hold as much as the commercial states. Also, the velcro that holds my cell phone in has already ripped out, so I had to sew in snaps. Other than that, it's awesome because I can place it across my chest, so I don't have to worry about someone stealing my purse when I'm in public (although I usually leave my purse at home when shopping).
- Complaints with Buxton Bag
     By A359B7IOL68D7W on 2008-04-28
I purchased the Buxton Bag 3 months ago and I have a few complaints about it. The magnet does not hold the bag shut, it keeps popping open. The phone is so high up on the bag that when you set the bag down the phone flaps behind the bag and sometimes falls out because the phone case is only held by velcro. The 2 inside compartments do not have zippers so when you set the bag down and the magnet does not hold all the items in the bag fall out. Because of these problems I would not purchase this bag again.
- Buxton shoulder bag
     By A1BBO3A5ZY9W7Q on 2008-05-18
Unfortunately, this product does not work for me. It's not really wide enough for all the items I carry. Also, I am right-handed and the strap goes from the right shoulder across the chest to the left side of the body and the cell phone would be on the left. This is comfortable for a left-handed person but not for me as a right-handed person.
- Just OK
     By A25533FRMBV4H1 on 2008-05-23
This bag does hold a good amount. I have a checkbook sized wallet, camera, and GPS in it on a regular bases along with the usual keys, cell phone, feminine products, etc. and it is still not overly full. It also works great with having a 16 month old. Over the shoulder helps with freeing up my hands up which is needed with a baby. On the negative side, within the first two weeks of using the bag the tubing that goes around the front was coming out and poking me in the arm. The velcro on the cell phone holder is poor quality and my cell phone falls out whenever I set my purse down. The shoulder strap is incredibly uncomfortable against a bare neck. I did remedy this issue by sewing a piece of soft fabric around it. Now, after having the bag for only a couple of months the leather is looking VERY worn in spots. In conclusion, the bag does hold a lot and is conveinient, however, the quality is so poor that I would not recommend it to anyone, nor ever buy another.
- It works and I like it
     By AENRETGDGJPLN on 2008-02-23
I really like this organizer bag, but its not as all that as they try to make you think. But its very handy.
- Great bag, but shipping needs some work
     By A3MRM04ONZV72A on 2008-03-24
The buxton bag itself is a great bag and definitely works for me. The only problem was with the shipping. I was told 3-5 days and when I went to check on it, I found out that it could have taken up to nine days to get here. So, Amazon, you really need to get your shipping times correct. Otherwise, this is a great site to order from and I would recommend this bag to anyone!
- GREAT BAG, GREAT PRICE
     By A3FU841NS4P3JX on 2008-03-29
THIS IS A WONDERFUL BAG, VERY DRESSY I THINK, THE LEATHER IS BEAUTIFUL, THE STRAP CANVAS, AND VERY NICE SPACE. I LOVE MY NEW PURSE.
I HAVE A TRAVELON BUT IT WAS SMALL AND TOO LITTLE BUT THIS WILL BE JUST RIGHT, PHONE HANDY AND ALL. THANKS FOR A GREAT PRODUCT.
- Horrible smell! Ridiculously slow delivery! Ugly strap!
     By A1OYVBO2FCQNLS on 2008-04-03
I was shocked when I opened the package and pulled out the Buxton bag, which FINALLY arrived more than a MONTH after I ordered from their official website. (they must ship these things by pack mule from China) The smell was absolutly horrible! The STINK made me nauseous. There is NO WAY I could use this purse. It smells like it was dipped in gasoline! My friend could smell it from all the way across the room! Even if the smell could be removed (which I doubt) the bag looks cheap, especially the shoulder strap, which isn't like a purse strap, but more like the strap you would see on a cheaply made backpack. Not worth $20 at all. I'm returning this bag tomorrow! Ewwwwwwwwwww, stinky P.U!!
