  • like it so far(1 day) , added info after a week

    By A2BCNCXJYDWP8K on 2008-07-13
I got this yesterday and so far it looks good, I've been using silica litter but even the cheap stuff is not that cheap and is fairly dusty, so I've been looking for an alternative and this seems to be it. The silica works great for drying up odors until it gets pee saturated. I sprinkled at little of the old wet litter on the breeze litter and the cats used it right away. The pee does drain through and the pads are good, they've used it quite a few times and the pad still feels dry. I'm actually hoping they DON'T poop in it and continue to use the silica for that, then I'll have the best of both worlds, the poop will dry and the pee will be able to be gotten rid of so the expensive silica will last longer.

After a week, still on the first pad and haven't noticed any odor problems. Have 3 cats and left the silica so they are using both but they are using the breeze a lot. Adding crystals or enzyme spray to the pad might stretch it's life out even longer. They've pooped in the breeze too and I haven't noticed a smell but lots of pellets glue tight so I'm losing quite a few each time. I'm used to the silica, which is much cleaner than clay or clumping and I haven't noticed any increased odor with the breeze.

Changed the pad on the 8th day because, well really how far do you want to push it, and no sign of trouble. It was HEAVY with no sign of leakage or deterioration (I didn't really try to stress test it, but it came out of the tray and into the bag with no problem).

  • Had such great hopes, but......

We have three cats - two wanted nothing to do with it no matter how many times we tried. Ended up pooping on the carpet, something they have never done before.

The other cat, who uses this litterbox, gets diahrea on a regular basis. The box is not designed for that type of mess! We ended up scooping most of the granules out.

So if your cat has these type of issues, do not use!

  • Tidy Cats Breeze system..

    By A1WBAQ6919P3BW on 2008-06-29
I've had this for a few weeks, and I'm really happy with it.

The hugest advantage to this system is the urine is separated from the 'litter' and odor is greatly reduced. The litter consist of pellets similar in shape/size to the wood-based natural litters, but they are of a hard clay, which doesn't break down with moisture, and they keep their shape. Thus, the urine drains straight down through a grid to the pad (in its own slide-out drawer), and the poo stays on top to be scooped away.

The pee will not ferment with the characteristic stench, and you don't have to deal with clumping litter which doesn't really clump, and is just plain stinky and messy to scoop up.

The proprietary 'pee' pads are kind of like a giant maxi pad, and absorb a lot of liquid. Also, the bottom side of the pad is plastic, and the pad fits into the tray in a way that the plastic is upturned to keep the tray itself dry. Maintenance consists of merely taking the drawer out to the trash, and sliding the pad out, putting in a new one, and sliding the drawer back into the bottom of the box.

The litter itself are hard pellets, which hardly get tracked, and it is 100% dustless. A pellet or two stick to paws, but are easily picked up and tossed back into the box. Scooping is easy, and if the poo is dry, you can kind of shake it around in the scoop to knock off some of the pellets, then throw it in the trash instead of wasting water with a toilet flush.

It takes mere seconds to maintain the box vs. 10 minutes of scooping and scraping soggy clumping litter which doesn't really clump, but falls apart.

When it's time to change the litter (once a month), it just pours into the trash, no scraping the soggy wet concrete of old.

Some say you get a 'poo' smell, since kitties can't bury it quite like they did with the old type of litter, but I'll take that over the overpowering stench of fermented urine any day. And, the smell goes away quite shortly, just like human smell in the bathroom. Note that you should just use one bag of the pellets in the box, the litter won't be as deep. I just give the box a quick shake daily to even it back out.

Cat adaption to the new box: This won't work for everyone, but this is what I did: I set up the new Breeze system next to the old box (which was fairly gross, as I let it get bad) to see what would happen. I placed a clump of the old litter into the new box to let him know it was 'his.' My 9 year old fellow was pretty much using the new box right away (probably out of curiousity more than anything). After 3 days or so, I removed the old box and inserted it directly into the garbage, never to be dealt with again. No problems, 100% compliance on Max's part.

If Tidy Cats came out with a fully hooded version of the box, it would be great for the folks who have standing pee-ers, but my fellow doesn't do that, so I'm lucky.

Finally, some say the pellets and pads are expensive, but I estimate the cost as about equal to the old style of box over the long run - and the convenience and ease of maintenance should erase any other doubt.

Also, this system has the potential of keeping tons of conventional clay litter out of landfills.

    Highly recommended.

  • works great for for

    By A32RZJVU4OH71G on 2008-05-07
It only works for urine,,if your cat poops, the pellets do not cover the poop like sand litters do...so your room will smell like poop if you go to work and get to it when you come home or school...etc, The urine goes to the pad great, but now the whole room smells like poop...then if the poop is soft, it can stick to the side of the pan...really gross clean up as the stupid pellets just stick here and there to the poop...A real mess!!!I am going back to regular scoop litter!

  • What a mess!!

    By A26SU24VWND0OU on 2008-05-24
For a person who has terrible allergies to traditional litter the idea of this system sounded wonderful. Everyone who has cats probably knows that cats like to bury their waste and they don't leave it to just sit there on top of the litter. That is the idea of this litter is that that solid waste will sit on top. My cat tried and tried to bury it but what a mess that became! His poo got all stuck to his paws and the sides of the pan and the pellets themselves didn't stick at all but many of the pellets were covered in the waste and would just fall through the scooper when I tried to remove them. It was very stinky too. After only a couple days of usage the pad was just a nasty mess and not at all pleasant to remove (although there was no ammonia scent).

  • Worked great for pee & hard poo, BUT could not stand the poop smell
    By A23LDHA1Z0BR7R on 2008-07-04
Back when I used the breeze cat system, there were 4 cats in the apartment (2 are my cats, and the other 2 were my brother's cats that I was temporarily taking care for him). I had the breeze next to the original litter box for 3 days and none of the cats used it. They all went on top of the pellets to check it out but did not pee/poop in there. One of the cats tried to eat a pellet and I took it away from him. I *think* none of them actually ate it.

On the 4th day, I took the original litter box away, and then they all started using the breeze. There were no "accidents" in the apartment and I did not find pee or poop on the floor or carpet. I think the fact that I placed some of the pellets with their original litter really helped them get accustomed to the product (and also since the breeze system was sitting there for 3 days, they were at least familiarized with it).

The pad that sucked up the pee worked really well. I experimented to figure out the right time to change the pad for the 4 cats. It turned out to be every 3 days. As for hard poop, I was ok with it staying at the top of the system and would pick it up with a plastic bag and throw it out (very easy).

The problem is with the runny/watery poop which will go all over the pellets and is tougher and takes longer to clean. A lot of the pellets ended up getting thrown out once the watery poop touched them. Also, this system does not do anything to help minimize the poop smell, which is the main complaint for my boyfriend regarding this system. In the end, we did not keep the breeze because the smell was too horrible. Even if you clean it up immediately after the cat pooped, the smell was still there.

We went back to the original litter box. I am going to keep my eye on this product to see if tidy cats come out with better pellets that will do something about poop smell. If that time ever comes, I would buy it because I know my cats will use this system & it did wonders for the pee... now if only the poop situation works out!

  • Does not work as advertised
    By A2CVQD2TGX98C3 on 2008-07-12
DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY! The box says that the pads last "up to a week" which they would if you did not let your cat drink any water! They might last four days, then the smell of urine starts drifting from the box. I only bought this as an "extra" box for my cat when I have to leave him for a few days by himself, and thought that this would provide him with a cleaner box for that time. It does if it is only urine, because once solid waste is in the box, he will not use it. And he will not use it after four days because of the smell of pee. The pads are gross, and WAY overpriced. Not at all the convience that it is advertised as.

  • It's a BREEZE!
    By A2SNSC2U05O4TQ on 2008-04-25
I have long loathed the standard litter box system and have spent plenty of time researching the expensive self scoopers, the flushing systems, etc. only to find that they all had their flaws and unhappy customers. I have held out and suffered with the smelly, tracking, scoopable litter in a regular pan...until now! When the Breeze system came out, I really didn't see how we could go wrong. The price point is perfect and low and behold- it works!

I followed the directions for transitioning our kitty and she moved over to the Breeze box almost immediately! No odor and FINALLY no litter all over the bathroom floor. Just scoop the poop out (sifting away the pellets) with the included scoop and replace the pad once a week. The pellets will last a month.

    Love it!

  • My tips for making this system work
    By AWNEZ0XD0AA7R on 2008-08-24
We have 3 long haired cats and have tried every litter box under the sun that promised "no tracking". This system is the first that truly delivered. WE still get a few pellets outside the boxes but they are easy to pick up with our hand vacuum.
We've been using the system for 4 months now and here are some tricks we found to make it work. We find that Pet Fresh (made by Arm & Hammer and usually used for carpets is a BIG help in keeping the odors under control. It's really cheap too.)

    1. Right after they go number 2, we sprinkle Pet Fresh on it. This is because one of our cats doesn't cover his poops after he goes. The scoop works best after they have a chace to dry our a little.

    2. The loose stool issue. This can be a real mess trying to get them out with a scoop. I found that using paper towels or toilet paper to pick them up is the easiest and cleanest way to get them out.

    3. The pan that holds the pads starts to retail the smell of urine after a month or 2. Solution: Sprinkle Pet Fresh on the pan, then put the pad in the pan.

    4. Issue: the sides of the pan start to smell and poop gets stuck to it. Solution: We keep Wipes, paper towels and spray cleaner near the box and wipe the box and scoop whenever it gets bad.

    5. Expense: We have found that if we look out for coupons and sales we can get the pads for about a dollar each and the pellets last a month in each box. We used to change the litter ever week and went through so much that we have found this system to actually be cheaper. The worst place to buy the pellets and pads is Petco - they are triple the price. Best place for us has been Target and Stop & Shop - we stock up when they are on sale.

    6. Transitioning: It took us almost a month of increasing adding the pellets to the old litter. Every time we scooped the old litter we added more pellets. The whole time we had the new system right next to the old one. By the time the old system was almost all pellets they were using both so we got more breezes and got rid of the old. We did have a couple times where they went outside the box, but that was it.

It wasn't easy to change, but to not have litter and urine tracked all over the house is such a god send that it was well worth the trouble. My greatest fear is that they might stop making the refills! I was glad to read that someone said you could use the system without with the pads if you dump the urine every day. That would be not be ideal but it's nice to know it works. I was also thinking you could use doggie pee pads if necessary. As for the pellets, I'm going to try "Yesterdays' News" pellets and see if they would work. or may even tiny river rocks that are washable? washable pellets you don't have to replace would be awesome for the environment. Trouble is they won't get to make as money off them - but I"m going to be on the look out for something that works!

    By AMHG3KZ0R273O on 2008-05-06
This is heaven sent and heaven scent, too! I have six indoor cats from the days when I was a volunteer with a cat rescue group. I love it! I have 5 of them and they couldn't be better. No urine odor is in my house anymore. And, I love the way they keep the water in where it doesn't drip out. I have one diabetic cat and it even holds all the urine he produces. If you are considering this....BUY IT!

  • Works for urine only
    By A3J69QKHSA2XE1 on 2008-07-16
Breeze litter box is good for urine. Really does control smell and it's great to not have to scoop and carry heavy litter ... but if your cat(s)
ever poop in it beware! Especially if you are not there to immediately scoop it out. Otherwise when you come home the smell almost knocks you
over as soon as you open the door. Just one cat, a small kitten, routinely uses this box and causes the odor. And if the stool is the least bit soft it smears all over the green plastic and the pellets. It's impossible to remove all the smears from the pellets short of dumping the entire box (because the cat tries to bury it and just ends up getting poop everywhere)and scrubing it, so the odor lingers. If only I could train them to only urinate in this box, it would be terrific... Bottomline, I just really regret spending the moneyto try this. Back to scoopable litter for me, my house smells much better when I come home.

  • Cats are liking it, and I'm more attentive to cleaning.
    By A2SH7OWE8QJYNC on 2008-06-07
Well, this is good and does what it says. Yes, a few pellets have escaped the confines of the litter box, but on the whole I'm quite pleased. Smell is down, and because clean pellets look so pristine I'm minded to clean the box every time there's something in the pellets. So, overall, it is a good thing!

I have come back to edit this review again. We were having some problems finding the waste outside the box. Both liquid and solid. The pads were not full, so I knew it was not an overflow problem. Well, one day I caught our big cat Max in there, and he's one of those 'walk into the box and keep facing the same way while you do your business' cats. (Our other cat is a 'walk into the box and turn around to face the doorway' cat.) Max is too long for the box! So, he was simply going right over the edge. We solved this by removing the white 'wall' part of the box, which actually slants inward and effectively cuts down on box space. Now Max can walk in far enough that his business end is inside the box (his face is over the back edge), and everything goes in the box where it's supposed to.

I must also say that this is more economical than clumping litter also. I ordered one "box of 4 refill packages" and one "box of four pellet bags" when we got the box, probably back in May, and we are still working our way through those. I'm really quite pleased.

  • Good idea, but...
    By A2O6AE0HR34DA8 on 2008-07-22
I bought one of these Breeze litter boxes for my cats about a month ago. The concept looks quite nice, with the 'pee pad' to catch liquid waste.

Here's the problems - The Breeze requires the use of those special pellets, which do not look, feel, or smell like cat litter. At least for my cats, this constitutes a valid reason not to use the thing. Cats identify the litter box by smell, which I understand acts a trigger to let them know to use it. Since the pellets have no smell, my cats haven't been convinced it's a litter box. Also, I haven't seen refills for the pellets or pads at the pet store.

Two stars are for a good idea which is extremely poorly executed.

  • A little secret/new product idea
    By AC7HVVJVLORTQ on 2008-05-21
Previously to receiving this system, hubby and I were attempting to train our 2 young kitties to use a human toilet, to no avail. I learned about this system and decided to give it a try, thinking I'd buy some reusable training pads instead of the ones made for this system (which were more than I wanted to pay). That way we would be able to save some money and the earth a little bit as well.

Then, I realized I could potentially skip the pee pads entirely and just replace our toilet training system with the Breeze litter box...on top of the toilet, sans tray (and toilet seat/lid/mounting parts). This is exactly what I did this morning when I received the system, and the kitties were ecstatic not to have to use the wretched toilet training system anymore. They took to it immediately... probably because they were glad to go back to a litter box and also because we had been using Feline Pine with them, so they were used to pellet-type litter. So we're all happy... the kitties are peeing in the toilet, although they don't know it, and all we have to do is scoop the poo, which doesn't smell as bad when the kitties bury it.

I was really hoping they would be able to use the toilet on their own, but I think we've reached a pretty good compromise. I did have to cover up part of the grid with some clear mailing tape, however, because the corners of the rectangle grid did not quite fit over the oval toilet bowl. Had to clean up a puddle of piddle after I realized I had miscalculated. :P

All that being said, it would be great if a company came out with a Breeze-like system made for toilets. That would be AWESOME... *nudge nudge to the litter companies*

  • BEWARE! READ UPDATE!!
    By A3T3S48UAVTUE9 on 2008-09-05
I purchased 2 of these systems for my 5 cats (we have 3 other litter boxes). One of my cats injested some of the litter pellets and has been in the veterinarian hospital in bad shape for the last 3 days. After xrays, and sedatives, enemas and iv fluids and blood tests, the vet removed 9 pellets, found a raging UTI and his kidney values are through the roof! I called the manufacturer to find out what was in the pellets and was told: zeolite, silica, cement, and polysomethingorother.
Their website does not tell you that, just says no problem if your cat ingest - it'll will pass thru. Not so! I already have a vet bill in excess of $500 it is climbing because they have to keep him there!!
    Update September 15, 2008
Vet bill in excess of $1000, kidney failure and Freddie died on Saturday, September 13, 2008.

  • Tidy Cats Breeze
    By A2L0WCMR3RXJS on 2008-06-01
Couldn't wait to try this product. I have two very picky male cats. Had no problem making the transition within 3 days. However, both my cats regularly pee standing up and the back splash simply is not high enough. So all that urine mostly goes up and over to outside the box. Maybe Tidy Cats could come up with a hood to retrofit? Product does do what it says - no odor - no tracking litter - but could use some further refinement.

  • Pure heaven!!!!!
    By A3QKRKODKBN4Q1 on 2008-07-17
I was skeptical, as I'm sure you are! I read review after review just to make sure I knew of any known issues. Which are few are far between. To say the least, I am absolutely amazed by this litter box and wish it came out 10 years ago!

I am, now, the un-proud owner of a Litter Mate litter box. For the last year I have used it as a regular litter box (where I would scoop myself. Just too frustrated with the mechanism of the whole thing.) Anyway, I finally found a litter that did a decent job in that box, it's hard to find one! I settled on Tidy Cats scooping litter. Well, one day I was comparing prices online at my local grocery store and at Target when I came across this system. I decided to check out Amazon and the reviews.

With little hesitation I ordered the litter box, pellets, and pads. I also put the pellets and pads on Amazon subscription to receive 15% off each order and I could cancel at anytime. I ordered the pellets and pads because I didn't think the litter box came with anything and I was anxious to use it once I received it. Well, it did come with a 4 pack of pads and a 3 lb bag of pellets, enough to get you started.

I set it up right away, right next to their usual litter box. I checked the pad the next day and a cat, or two, had used that box! I was so excited! I left it there for 3 weeks because neither one of my cats went #2 in the new box. I was getting discouraged. I did what was suggested by putting some of the pellets in the regular box so the cats could get used to the feel of them. Still nothing. So finally, with fingers crossed, I eliminated the regular litter box and only made available the Breeze litter box. I came home from work that evening and prayed they would use the box for both duties.....AND THEY DID!!! I was thrilled!!

I have never smelled the #2 like some reviewers have mentioned, I don't know if they do it while I'm away or asleep, but there has been no odor.

I would suggest either getting more than one box if you have 2 or more cats. Tidy Cats suggests 1 box for each cat plus one. I only have one box and change the pad 2 times per week and it has worked perfectly, but knowing how well it works and how easy it is to maintain, I will be buying a second one!! I love that there is no litter to vacuum up or get tracked on the wood floor only to step on in bare feet!

    I love this litter box!!

August 9, 2008: UPDATED I still LOVE this litter box!! It is by far one of the best things ever invented! I am telling all my cat owner friends about it and insist they buy this! I have to admit, I am a lazy litter box care taker, because of a busy life. This litter box makes it a lot easier to care for and it's so quick to clean! I plan to move it to a bathroom soon so I can flush the solids since I tend to scoop them out every day or two, it would make it that much easier.

If you are hesitating at all, you really should give it a try. I bought it before they reduced the price by $20! I risked $40 to try it, you can risk $20!

  • Eureka!
    By A30HKVI2NGQUHY on 2008-04-24
We have put men on the moon, mankind on the internet and, at long last, our cats in an acceptable litter box. It's not perfect and it's a little pricey but many times a day I find myself saying: FINALLY! Finally no odor, no litter underfoot, and no messy box to clean. Sift the pebbles thru the scoop, flush the poop, then slide out the tray and exchange the pad. No mess, no fuss. With three cats, the pebbles are good for a month and the pads for a couple of days. (I'm going to try puppy pads next, they're cheaper.) The box recommends that you keep "one box per cat plus one extra". Yeah, right! You have a winner here, Tidy Cat... don't push your luck!

  • I so wanted it to work...
    By A1ADLOR5UE7ZFA on 2008-06-23
I have four cats, two are 12 - old & set in their ways. I have 3 litter boxes and removed one and replaced it with the Breeze. All the cats liked to pee in the Breeze box but would not poop in it. We kept it out for several weeks and they always used the other boxes for poo (one older kitty preferred to use the carpet). We even tried placing poo from the other boxes into the Breeze box to show them what it's for but this seemed to upset and confused them as they tried to cover the poo with no real success.

I really liked the design of the box, the ability to control odor, the lack of dust, etc. Unfortunately, I will have to go back to the old litter. Any attempt to make life easier for me is dashed to bits by my cats - but I love them so.

One other thing... If you have the Breeze box in earshot of your bedroom and you have a scratch happy cat, the noise of the hard, rock-like pellets shifting in the plastic tray can wake you up at night!

  • Great System, Intro package needs more pellets
    By AW8WJC17TRI1I on 2008-06-26
This system is working very, very well for me and my cats. It took them quite a long time to transition, but now they are happy both urinating and defecating in two breeze-style boxes (I bought one breeze and fashioned another similar system).

Unfortunately, this starter package should contain at least two bags of breeze pellets. It contains only one. My cats have adjusted to the smaller amount of litter in the Breeze just fine, but you need at least another full bag of Breeze litter to slowly mix in with your old litter to communicate with your cats what this new box is for. I ordered extra pellets at the same time I ordered the starter system, but the pellets didn't come till later; and the cats didn't use the Breeze until I'd mixed more than just "a cup or so" (what the transition instructions say) with their old box. I'm patient but don't like a dirty box, so I kept cleaning my old box, and slowly added more and more Breeze litter to it. My cats completely transitioned over a period of a month or so. I took my time and was trying to use up old litter during the transition, but it took me about 2.5 bags of breeze pellets (including the one full bag that comes with the starter kit went into the breeze) to do my complete transition.

I would have rated this litter box system 5/5 stars, but the absence of an extra bag of pellets in the kit knocks the system down to 4/5 stars.

To those of you who are worried that your cats will only use the Breeze to urinate and not to defecate; just urinating takes quite a bit of pressure off of the old boxes. At just a little over $1 a pee pad, which lasts about 5 or 6 days with my two cats, it's a cheap and easy way to dispose of cat urine, even if you still have to scoop an old box with feces and sometimes a little bit of urine.

I recommend this system to anyone who
    1) can't carry regular litter (because it's too heavy)
    2) needs a dust-free system for an asthmatic cat (why I switched)
    3) doesn't like scooping urine pellets, but doesn't mind scooping feces
    4) dislikes litter tracking

I wouldn't recommend this to people happy with clumping clay litter, and it isn't a solution for people who love cats but can't stand litter boxes. It's still a litter box that must be scooped, albeit a very clean and easy to use litter box. I would recommend this to anyone who does not use or does not want to use clumping clay litter (dust, tracking, environmental impact, whatever) as I think it's the best alternative.

I switched from Yesterday News, which was a good alternative to clay clumping litter, as long as you don't mind the inevitable consequences (stale urine) of a non-clumping litter. The Breeze avoids the stale urine problem. Yes, the tray smells a bit when you slide it out, but I can't smell the urine at all when the tray is assembled (unless a cat has urinated in the last 5 minutes), and you don't have the unpleasant task of removing stale urine soaked non-clumping litter.

  • Tidy Cat Breeze
    By A3PV7BY8K747QE on 2008-05-21
We have been using this system for a month. We have three cats, ranging in age from 18 years to 18 months, and so far this box is the favorite of the 11 year old. I still have two other regular boxes set up because I am a little leery that the oldest kitty might not be cooperative if they were removed completely.
The Breeze is downright pretty, nice lime green and white, has its own scooper which hangs from the side of the box.
It is in a hallway outside the bathroom, on a hardwood floor. You have to watch the pee pads carefully at first to determine how often to change. We had some leakage on the floor which ain't great, but was my fault. I am now using doggie wee wee pads underneath the box, just in case. I use them under all litter boxes in the house.
    Either the box is tilted a little downward or my floor isn't level;
that's how the urine leaked out.
After two weeks I noticed the pellets were causing a stench of their own. Changing them after two weeks will work better than trying to get a month's worth of use.
Feces can be scooped out and flushed down the toilet with no problem at all, and if you can't get to the job right away, the pellets dessicate them , taking the odor away quite well.
I wash the pan regularly and wash the entire box when the pellets are changed. Just keep extra pellets around, because when they need a change you want to be able to do it right away. I plan to add another Breeze box in a couple of months. I do recommend this product; it is novel to say the least, and if lugging heavy bags of litter around is hard for you, then this system is ideal.

  • And I thought the Litter Robot was the best thing ever... I was wrong!

I've had cats all my life, and I finally realized that it's not the litter box itself that was causing me woes -- it was that horrible stinky, cemented clay litter. For 2 years I was a relatively happy owner of a Litter Robot (a fabulous advance in litter boxes if anyone who hasn't had luck with the Breeze wants to buy it!). But with hardwood floors and a tiny condo, I was constantly cleaning up litter my two cats would scatter as took take giant leaps out of the box!

Daily sweeping and Roomba runs couldn't even keep up, and I was embarrassed to have people over unannounced, or with their shoes off. Even I never walked barefoot in here, it was gross. And with an increasingly diabetic 16 year old cat, the clay litter clumps were becoming too much for the Robot to handle too.

So after a month+ of the Breeze system, my life has completely changed. I can walk barefoot and no litter box smell! My cats are surprisingly not very "stinky" poopers, even though there is no odor killing built into the litter itself. And it does a good job of drying it out if you let it sit for several hours before scooping.

The pads last for about 4 days with two cats, but I did have an overflow mishap when I went out of town for 3.5 days (even with an extra litter box). Still not sure why they decided to pee twice as much while I was gone, but I experimented with a fix for the next time I'm out of town... I removed the plastic liner from one of the pads and laid it on top of another one (with the liner still attached). That lasted a full week with no problems, and it still fit within the tray area and slid out easily when both were at max capacity. I wouldn't recommend this for every week use, since the top pad kind of fell apart without the liner, but it will solve the overflow issue if you know you can't check the pad for 3 or 4 days (yes, I usually have someone watch them...but I sometimes I can't round up volunteers!).

Being pretty Green, I have some reservations about the plastic liners going into the trash, but I figure I am using less garbage bags full of litter clumps in the end. Plus the pellets don't stick to the poop, and one bag really does last a full month (if not longer).

Overall, this is the best thing to happen to me and my cats. I buy the litter 3-pack and liner 5-packs using Amazon's "subscription" service, and save a lot of money on shipping. Plus I always have everything I need to keep the box in good shape.

If you're sick of clay litter, and have tried all the other automatic boxes with little luck, give this a try!

  • Not bad....Not bad at all

I bought this 3 weeks ago. I slowly tranisitioned the new box in keeping an old box for 2 weeks. When I took the old box away they (2 cats) took right to it. There are 2 problems that I am encountering, the supplies are hard to find, even sold out here a lot of the time. THe second..My cats seem to pee only in the corners of the litter box. the pads get soaked in the corners while the is no urine in the middle.. It seems like a waste. I have to change the pads every three days at least.

I do find it amazing that the urine pads do not smell like cat pee. They take away the ammonia odor. It is amazing!

I've had cats all my life. I couldn't live without them, but what I COULD live without is their smelly litter box! I think I've tried every litter out there, and every one has been a disappointment. I liked the crystal cat litter for a while, but it's expensive and I can't bring myself to pay $12 every week or so for something my cat craps in!

I can't be more happier with this cat box. Instead of paying about $40 a month on cat litter and having my house smell disgusting, I'm paying about $18 and you can't even tell I have cats!

It did take my cats about a week to get used to the new box. I love not having to sweep up cat litter off the floor every day! They don't track the pellets at all, and it's super easy to scoop. The pads absorb all of the urine smell, so you just have to scoop the solids out every day to keep your house smelling cat free!

  • Not a good idea...

The Tidy Cat Breeze Litter Box System seemed like a good idea at first but instead of using the litter box to use the bathroom, my cat thought it would be a lot more fun to get as many of those pellets as he could out of the box and eat them. And then throw up. So, overall, I'd suggest that you just stick with your traditional litter box.

I have a 3-legged, 20+ year-old cat who does nothing but eat, sleep and produce copious amounts of urine and feces. Before we switched to this system, I spent so much time cleaning tracked litter off the floor and scooping and changing the litter box. Plus, half of the time, he just relieved himself on the floor outside the box. The worst part, of course, was the ever-present smell of urine. THIS SYSTEM ROCKS!!! ALL of these problems have been eliminated. Also, I am much happier with my poor, old cat. I was beginning to wish he would just quit eating. I did not transition him gradually. (He may not have 3 days left!) I just switched. He did great! I think he is much happier, too!

  • My cats used it immediately....no transition needed for them!!!

We got the new system for free by participating in this quiz game on TidyCat's website a few weeks ago. Got the system yesterday and I set it up last night and placed it on top of the old litter box (we have one of those litter box with a top cover and a hole for them to get in) and then we went to sleep. We have two adult cats at home and instead of easing them through the transition, I wanted to see how adaptive they are to new things. They probably did their "investigating" of box last night (while we were sleeping), this morning, I checked the new breeze box and i am completely amazed that they "went right at it". NO ISSUES over here at all!!!!!! I am so thrill that I will not need to clean our wooden floor every day anymore to pick up the litter!!!!!!

I LOVE LOVE LOVE this breeze system and yes, it may cost a little more to replace the pellets/pads compared to litter...but it's all worth it! BF has light asthma and every time he cleans the litter box, he gets this minor attack due to dust. I can't go near it, coz I have allergies myself. So this is a great product for our health and will certainly keep our place clean of litter going forward!

I am tempted to add one more bag of the pellets in there since our cats are in the habit of burying their "thing" and one bag doesn't seem enough. Thoughts anyone?

Absolutely horrible product. Very costly to purchase and to maintain. My cats won't even touch it! Wish I would have never wasted my $35 dollars!

We, my husband and I, love this product. It makes litter box care much easier without the cost of other systems, which can be over $100. The cats transitioned well and it makes my picky cat very happy. I hope this system catches on because it is more sanitary, economical and is very easy to use. The only problem right now is the refill supplies are hard to find, but this should get better as more stores pick up the product. Bottom line- it is econimical, easy to use, and the cats love it.
