Lady Antebellumx$8.08

(58 reviews)

Best Price: $8.08

There has been a buzz in Music City since mid-2006 when Lady Antebellum performed together for the very first time. The trio- comprised of Hillary Scott (vocals), Charles Kelley (vocals), and Dave Haywood (vocals, acoustic guitar, keys)- says their name, "Lady Antebellum," represents a sense of nostalgia found in the songs they sing. "It felt like magic," says Hillary, remembering their first performance together, "We all felt more comfortable onstage together than we ever had alone."

A year and a half later, the buzz on Lady Antebellum is as strong as it's ever been, and the rest of the nation will soon discover why. Hillary, Charles, and Dave, three young songwriter-musicians with varied influences and backgrounds, create a sound that is fresh and unique, yet still sounds like something you've known for a long time. The debut single, "Love Don't Live Here," is only the beginning for Lady Antebellum. The "Lady A" buzz is coming...April 15!

  • Great debut album from new group!

    By A4PTUEVFE13K6 on 2008-04-25
I first heard of Lady Antebellum thru Victoria Shaw who is a co-writer and co-producer of the album. I've been a fan of Victoria's for years, she has written hit songs for Tanya Tucker to Garth Brooks as well as her own solo career in the late 90's. So I figured I'd check out Lady Antebellum. I was not disappointed. The album is one of those great summer albums, one of those albums that you want to crank up with the windows down. They sort of remind me of Little Big Town in some ways. For me country music has gotten very generic sounding, Lady Antebellum breaks out of that sound. Great harmonies, great hooks, great songs. The only thing I'm not crazy about is the name of the group, sounds like a girl group rather than a trio of two guys and one girl. That aside, this is a great album and if you like Little Big Town, I think you'll like Lady Antebellum as well.

    By A3NLVZXMJZLTK3 on 2008-04-16
Amazing CD by a very talented group. Their vocals are beautiful and the lyrics are very touching. Especially the song "One Day You Will". Very powerful song. I expect great things from this group. They remind me a bit of Little Big Town with more of a rock edge to it. Hilary and Charles each have voices that could stand on their own but together they create a rare and phenomenal sound.

Buy it! You will not be disappointed.

  • Best new album listen to over and over

    By A1CEEGDMISKAIK on 2008-04-17
The diversity of this group is what makes for simply great music. The vocals are beautiful, the lyrics modern and emotional. Best album I have heard in a long time. We purchased the day the album came out and have been playing at our business; customers continually asking about the artists. You will not be disappointed in any of the songs, very strong from start to finish!

  • Good music, Great Lyrics, Great Sound

    By A3KG3JRWR8KPQP on 2008-04-16
I have never been a fan of country music, I think that it really all sounds the same. There is something about this CD however. The way that Hillary and the guys (can't think of his name) do a great mixes in their voices on songs. They also pick the right songs for them to sing. The lyrics are great for county music, the steel guitar makes this CD even better. Lady Antebellum is a great find, if you would like to find something a little different with a country twist this is it. Great CD!!!

  • AWESOME NEW CD!!!

  • Fantastic songs and vocals!
    By A15Y7SZ9SEZLI8 on 2008-04-17
I was very excited for this album to finally come out after listening to their debut song many times over. Lady Antebellum doesn't disappoint. The ballads are sweetly sung with the harmony of Charles and Hillary's voices and the upbeat songs are catchy. What a truly awesome new album. Can't wait for this trio to go on tour. All We'd Ever Need and Things People Say are soft and poignant ballads and Love's Looking Good on You is a great upbeat song.

  • Amazing Debut!
    By A35LHNF0S5LBDP on 2008-04-17
The first time I heard of Lady A was when they were announced as an opening act for a concert I was attending. I've NEVER been so blown away by an unknown band before, and they do NOT disappoint on their debut album! The songs have a lyrical style reminiscent of legends like Carole King and James Taylor, and the harmonies of the three singers are flawless. I especially appreciate that H. Scott and C. Kelley share lead vocal responsibilities throughout the album. A MUST HAVE for any country/folk music fan...and I even encourage Top 40 fans to give them a listen!

  • Solid
    By A1N7I9CCAY4AGX on 2008-04-30
I am quite happy to have run across this new band. I agree with another reviewer who says they are listening to this disc over and over, I am too. I find the vocals work excellent, songwriting strong and production of the album spot on. I do think Lady Antebellum is here to stay and we are going to hear much from them in the years to come. Nice job!

  • Awesome Lady A
    By A2XIH0LXR9EEBA on 2008-04-17
They are great - every song on the CD was written by the band all that musical talent in one band who could ask for more!

  • Excellent CD
    By AUW3FDK47K82G on 2008-04-28
This CD is so beautifully written and musically put together. I love it. All the songs on it are good.

  • Get Lady A'd
    By A2MW6K0A37YGE4 on 2008-04-18
Lady Antebellum's debut CD has a fantastic mix of music, all written by the members of the Lady Antebellum team. Charles Kelley and Hillary Scott mix their harmonies nice and tight, and their voices complement each other. Throw Dave Haywood's harmonies into the mix and they rival the harmonies of Little Big Town.

Having seen this band live, some songs disappoint as studio cuts, and lack the energy of their live performance. No doubt, as they gain experience in the studio this energy will translate.

A bargain buy at Amazon. Get on board with this band. They're going places!

  • Worst sounding album of the year!!
    By ABU13T846HH3H on 2008-05-17
This album is literally all rock, Hillary doesn't sound anything like a country singer...and honestly, she's coming across as rather arrogant (or so it seems). I know that she's on TV, but I think that she should be a bit more humble (such as how Kellie Pickler and Carrie Underwood have gracefully handled their fame and fortune. Furthermore, the entire group appears to be some sort of a rock band...not country. In my opinion, this has been the worst album of the year (in the country genre). This is a rock album (by far NOT country), and the fact that they are placing this under the genre of country music (in order to capture sales...and plus it's one of the easier markets to break into) is really not right at all. Some artists think that country music fans buy anything, and they are really taking advantage of this situation. Great rock album, but if it's going under the title of country, then this has got to be one of the worst (if not the worst) album of the year. Also, as a country artist, you need to come across as humble, and in my opinion, Hillary is not portraying that image. Remember, without fans...you don't have a career.

  • From a Free iTunes Single to #4 Album Sales in The Week Of Release - Ladies and Gentlemen, Lady Antebellum
    By A3T5ES5LR4DIVM on 2008-04-26
How about a first album coming from a new pop-country artist going straight into #4 spot at Billboard 200 in the week of release? Something out of this world? No...having a free single ("Love Don't Live Here") heavily promoted on iTunes Store (the second music retailer in the US, only behind Wal-Mart) for a week can do miracles these days. Until two or three weeks ago, Lady Antebellum could be anything to me except a music group.

Catchy lyrics, good singing and nice playing coming from this competent young trio are what it takes for them to deserve the attention they already got and hopefully much more. It's worth a try. Four stars.

  • Country's New Super Group!
    By A6N39H4RPKNSY on 2008-04-29
This is a plum terrific CD. The best country CD I've bought in quite a while. Every song on the CD could be a top-ten single. Great harmonies, great selection of songs. Lady A deserves to win best new country artist(s) hands down. Treat yourself to this great collection of pop-country hits.

  • Awesome CD
    By A1OHOJXN8O1DC9 on 2008-04-19
This cd exceeds my expectations. I bought, because I was curious. I thought that a couple of songs would be awesome, like "Love Don't Live Here" which is my favorite song. But no, every single song is amazing. These people have talent. I'll tell you, this cd is worth the money.

  • AWESOME!!!!!
    By A2CFEQGMHQS6F9 on 2008-04-25
This has got to be the best debut album I've heard in a loooooong time. I've had it in the CD player since I got it on Tues. April 22 and haven't ejected it yet. My little girls even love to listen to it. I bought one for my sister too and she has the same opinion. This is a trio we're going to be hearing from for many years to come. Buy it, love it, memorize it.

  • Lady Antebellum New CD Rocks!!!!
    By A25JHSQBS6QM89 on 2008-04-26
This CD is amazing. A cd comes along very rarely that I love every single song. This cd does that! Lady Antebellum is a very talented group. I carry the cd back and forth between my car and my home. I have listened to it every day since I purchased it. I like the way Charles and Hillary take turns on singing the lead on their songs. Their voices compliment each other very well. I highly recommend this cd for country music fans.

  • New Favorite
    By AGJTFP4FDBA3L on 2008-05-10
This is my new favorite CD. I can play it all the way through without skipping over a track. And I love their voices together. This is the best CD I have purchased all year!

  • An amazing group! The blend together so well!
    By A1ZE6M9M9YJJSB on 2008-05-12
Lady A is my all time favorite groups...and I just discovered them not but 5 months ago. I heard one song and I knew they were going to be huge! I bought this CD and have been listening to it now for almost a whole month non-stop! (and I'm one of those people that normally change the song after a couple of seconds!)

I had the amazing opportunity to see them live with Martina in January and they put on an amazing show. I would recommend this CD to everyone! It is just fabulous!

  • Lady Antebellum Album Review
    By AXG6OJ55P97CS on 2008-08-14
I love music of nearly every genre, but country has always been my favorite. It's been awhile since I've bought a country CD that I can listen to without having to press the next button once. I first heard of Lady Antebellum on CMT's countdown when they debuted their "Love Don't Live Here" video, and although I liked the song I figured they were another one of those new one-hit artists that you don't hear from again after a few months. My sister saw them perform live at a Jason Aldean concert and bought their album, brought it home, and raved about it. I listened to it and went and bought myself a copy the next day.

There are 11 songs on this album

    1. Love Don't Live Here - 10/10
    2. Looking For A Good Time - 10/10
    3. All We'd Ever Need - such a beautiful song, one of my favorites - 10/10
    4. Long Gone - 10/10
    5. I Run To You - 9/10
    6. Love's Looking Good On You - one of my favorites - 10/10
    7. Home Is Where The Heart Is - 8/10
    8. Things People Say - my least favorite but I still like it - 6/10
    9. Slow Down Sister - 9/10
    10. Can't Take My Eyes Off You - Hilary's voice is beautiful on this - 10/10
    11. One Day You Will - perfect song to finish the album with, well written, 10/10

I know it seems like an uneven review, but the best thing I can tell you is to go to the Amazon page for this CD and listen to the song sampler...then you'll get it. :)

Any modern country music fan will definitely want this in their collection.

  • Great CD!!!
    By A6YA06OGEVONO on 2008-04-26
This cd is great. It is one of a very few cd's that I have that I love every song on it. If this debut album is a sign of things to come from this great group I can't wait to see and hear what else they will do. Well worth buying you will not regret your purchase.

  • You gotta get LadyA'd!
    By A1MZSR3R9IPWQ4 on 2008-04-28
The first time I heard "Love Don't Live Here" on the radio..I fell in love with it! Hillary, Charles, & Dave have a very unique sound and their harmonies are awesome! You get flirty, upbeat songs as well as true heartfelt emotion on this album. Lady A is definatley on their way!!!

  • Fantastic Voices
    By A26ED44QS6UFZ7 on 2008-05-21
I love several of the songs on this CD, but I feel like some of the faster songs sound the same. I definitely recommend it - I love their voices - it's like getting two totally different bands for one price. Wish there was more of the second guy singing, would like to hear that.

  • Great Debut
    By A1B5I9D98MN6XQ on 2008-05-24
I echo the solid praise for this debut effort. I love the great songs and harmonies and no one member outshines another. I am reminded of Little Big Town as others also note, but I also am reminded of Highway 101, but without the emphasis on the female lead. Crank it up and enjoy!

  • Good ride
    By A3SQW7E91WI3UJ on 2008-05-26
I got a very pleasant surprise after buying this album simply coz i foundt the band's name so catchy. Lady A's words and lyrics are fresh, and the melody and harmony are close to perfect. Their songs are fun(Looking for a Good time, Slow down sister) and emotional to the point of tearfulness (Home is where the heart is, things people say). The entire album basically takes you on a ride - a good ride.

    Five stars!

  • The best of the best
    By A6AAUT0BISP63 on 2008-05-29
I have to say, I have come to realize this is one of my favorite albums of the year tied with Houston Marchman's - Naked The Best of Houston Marchman. Both are soooo good and I can listen to their voices over and over again and never get tired. Houston Marchman is special in that his music is filled with soul, passion, and solid lyrics. He truley has THE best singing vioce I have ever heard in my entire life. You should check out the cd if you enjoy this one.

  • Great New Group
    By ALHN7LZXGJOPX on 2008-05-30
I first heard Lady Antebellum on XM Highway 16 in 2007. The next day I found out that they were playing a concert before a Miami Dolphins game. Their concert was great and my wife and I couln't wait for the CD to come out. We were not disappointed. Every song on the CD is good. Most are great! It's rare to find a group with as much talent as Lady Antebellum. I'm expecting their future to be very bright.

  • great CD
    By A1VHIOPYH2OT6I on 2008-05-30
Lady Antebellum is a great new group. Their debute CD is fantastic and i highly recommend it.

  • AN EXCELLENT DEBUT CD
    By A39OMZU31KVWPC on 2008-05-30
If you like Country music harmonies, than you will absolutely love and adore Lady Antebellum's self titled debuted CD. This CD entered the Hot Country Albums at #1 back on May 3,2008 and rightfully so. I constantly play this CD on repeat in my car and home stereo. THERE IS NOT A BAD TRACK ON THIS CD. While all their songs on this CD is great. I think Track 7 "Home is Where The Heart is" and Track 11 "One Day You Will" are two of the best tracks on the CD with excellent harmonizing vocals. Trust me this CD is worth spending the money for to buy it, if you like country music that is!!!

  • Best Album Ever
    By A3407542TAQL4G on 2008-06-07
I bought a car that I had to drive 600 miles home, so I decided to treat myself with a new album to go with it. By the time I made it home, not only was Lady Antebellum my favorite new group, but I had made the decision to buy their album for my best friend, too.

The vocals on their first single "Love Don't Live Here" are done by Charles Kelly, and he does a great job, but the tracks with Hillary Scott on vocals are AMAZING! She has an awesome voice, and it compliments Charles' voice so well that it's almost indescribable. "All We'd Ever Need" is the best song on the album, and "Can't Take My Eyes Off Of You" falls for a tie with "Love Don't Live Here" for second. There's not a track on the album I don't like - which hasn't happened to me since "Everywhere" by Tim McGraw came out over 10 years ago!!!

I have recommended this to everybody I know, am about to go buy a third copy for somebody else, and haven't taken this out of my CD player in six weeks.
