Kisses Good Night..... By A3KCMEJTRQHNAP on 2003-03-12
"My tired little baby, do you need a kiss?" A cranky, crying, sleepy little one is about to go to bed. But first she needs "ten little kisses on teeny tiny toes" and "nine laughing kisses on busy, wriggly feet" from Mommy. Daddy's ready with "eight squishy kisses on chubby, yummy knees." Grandma plants "seven loud kisses on a pretty belly button." And so on... Baby is passed from one member of the family to the next for her good night kisses, and even the dog and cat get into the act..... Karen Katz's minimal text is engaging and filled with lots of love and charming descriptive words. Her bright and playful illustrations are large and inviting, rich in bold color and eye-catching shapes and patterns. Together word and art offer gentle, fun-filled opportunities to practice counting and to identify different body parts. Perfect for preschoolers as young as one, Counting Kisses is a sweet and heartwarming little book youngsters will beg to add to their bedtime ritual. "...two gentle kisses on tired closing eyes, one last kiss on your sleepy, dreamy head, and now it's time for baby's bed."
Wonderful Book - A FAVORITE in our house By A1SSJGYXQ8GRRY on 2003-01-22
I got this book for my older son when he was just a few months old. He is 2 now and this is one of his all-time favorite books. It's fun to read and what child doesn't love getting kissed?? His baby brother also enjoys it when we read this book. My parents visited from out of state recently and I videotaped them reading a few books, this one included. My toddler asks me to fast forward so that he can hear his grandpa read this story and watch them on TV. We give this book often as a gift because it is such a favorite.
Sure to put Smile on Baby's Face! By A8Q10L8QWQKZB on 2004-04-17
I bought this book for my daughter when she was four months old. From the first day she was absolutely captivated by the bright, colorful patterns in the pictures of this book. The story is so much fun and what baby could resist all those kisses? Now at ten months old she loves this book so much that I only have to recite the first line of the story, "My tired little baby, do you need a kiss..." or show her the cover of the book to elicit a huge, cheesy grin! After buying this book I was motivated to purchase several other books by Karen Katz. Her talent has made her my daughter's author/illustrator. Her books are the first chosen every time!
A wonderful book to share with your children By A3VKBP1LYJKVP7 on 2001-02-13
This is a very sweet book. The first time I read it, I was quite teary when thinking of my baby daughter. The illustrations are rich and engaging. The simple counting "story", is laid out in a way that envelopes the reader(s) in love and "warm fuzzies". I like the way the book shows how "all" the family members love the baby and want her to be happy. (even the cat) This is a great book to develop a nighttime routine with. My child will go to be each night knowing how much she is really loved.
Love and numbers By AZXMQR0XI6DGO on 2004-05-18
My daughter is not quite two and she loves this story - she always pulls it out of her bookshelf - especially at night. The pictures are so big and bright. It really appeals to her on a lot of different levels: - She can point to her own body parts to show where the baby is getting her kisses. - She can count along with each page. - She can identify many characters in the book (mommy, daddy, baby, puppy, etc). - And she loves the kissing! The store is just so much fun - even if you don't do the kissing bit with your own child there is still so much to benefit from this tale!
- A Delightful Bedtime Book
     By AAO5IJGI3X9IH on 2001-02-22
I bought this book for my 2 year old daughter. We read this book every night before we go to bed. She loves being kissed goodnight from toes to head. This book is simple enough that she knows the placement and quantity of kisses. I would highly recommend this book to be added to any child's bedtime ritual. I hope this book will be something she'll always remember when going to sleep.
- Wonderful combination of reading and counting and kissing!
     By A1PBQY9KAMIQTR on 2003-12-08
My daughter (2 yrs old) and son (1 yr old) and I LOVE LOVE LOVE this book! It is so much fun to read it and to kiss them both from head to toe as described in the book. Great way to introduce counting and to enjoy reading together while interacting in the best way possible--kisses and giggles!
- Perfect for older siblings to "help" read to new baby!
     By on 2003-01-29
This book is a big hit with our toddler. She loves to "read" it to her new brother. As the title suggests, there's lots of counting, kissing and everybody gets a turn. While the story is simple and the text is short, this can be a half hour bedtime event at our house.
- Illustrations are low-quality!
     By on 2004-07-19
Cartoon-like cutesy images can be done well, but these are not. Anatomical correctness has been completely ignored. Even if an illustrator wants to do cutesy or cartoony, an educational background in anatomy will only enhance the drawings. It is clear that this illustrator has no such background. This illustrator has poor drawing skills, and I'm amazed that a publisher paid for work of this caliber. The figures are blob-like and fleshy. Generic and deformed facial features float in vast expanses of circular heads. Arms are grotesquesly short, and NO ONE seems to have a neck in these books. The colors are in jarring unattractive combinations, with "FLESH" being the predominant choice of color. It looks like the illustrator didn't even mix this color, just bought a tube of paint called "caucasian flesh." Most artwork BY CHILDREN is of a much higher caliber than that in this book. Most children use beautiful colors, and their drawings of figures are not nearly as grotesque as these. There are so many gorgeous books available for children - choose those instead of this horrible one!!!
- Hands-Down...Their Favorite Book!
     By A1XOQ0IRB09U3U on 2004-09-29
I have two year old twins, and this is BY FAR their favorite book. They LOVE pointing at the numbers and hearts, and they know which body part comes next before I even turn the page. It's a sure-fire way to get them ready to go to sleep, and our own little ritual is that we end the book by saying "Mommy, Daddy, Sister, Grandma, Doggy, Kitty...and there's Baby, sleeping in her bed. Good night, Baby!" and then we each give the last page a kiss. What a fantastically warm and beautiful book!
- Sweet story!

What child (and parent) doesn't love kisses! This is a wonderful book that is fun to act out as you read it. It's one of my daughter's favorites.
- Gorgeous book
     By A132RKNZ0BR07O on 2004-03-03
I was so excited when I saw this book online and read the other reviews. The text is sweet and the pictures are goregous. My daughter, 23 mos, lovingly points to the picture of the grandma with the baby and says "Ga" as it reminds her of her own grandma. And she loves the part when the kitty gives the baby kisses. The only problem I have with it is my daughter gets very upset at the last 3 pages when they're tucking the baby into her crib. She giggles and enjoys the book until we get to that point then starts crying hysterically. We've never had a tough time getting her to go to bed, so I can't figure it out. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to put the book away for awhile.
- Books by Karen Katz Are Winners with Toddlers
     By A2B0O30Z2J2IND on 2004-11-11
Karen Katz is super talented as she zeroes in with perfect style to the task of communicating with babies and toddlers. The art is so unique in it's simplicity. Reading books with children is one of the most worthwhile activities a parent can spend time doing. I highly recommend the series of Katz books as well as Boyton's books to read over and over again with the little ones.

- Wonderful book
     By A2ZVAOF6RNPK9S on 2005-09-29
We love Karen Katz and have several in our personal collection. My daughter is almost two and loves to read this book every night. When we read it to her we follow the book and kiss her where the baby in the book is being kissed. "Ten little kisses on teeny tiny toes" - we then give her ten kisses on her toes. "Nine laughing kisses on busy wriggly feet" - we then give her nine kisses on her feet. And so on... She giggles every time, especially when we get to the part when the kisses are on her belly. A great book to enjoy with your little one.
- Counts Backwards
     By AA8HBQ8J3K6SU on 2006-06-11
This book is very cute! And my son likes to read it and get kisses. However, I wanted to make folks aware that the counting is backwards, starting at 10 and getting down to 1. If you feel this might confuse a child learning to count, you may want to skip this book.
- Kisses Counted
     By AM1635O5LHYCT on 2001-02-06
Counting Kisses, by Karen Katz is the perfect gift for your's child's valentine. Beautiful illustrations accompanied by kisses all over the baby , give you a great excuse to cover those little feet, eyes, hands and messy hairs on your baby's head with sweet soft kisses. You can also teach them body parts and show them how much you care and love them. This is not a board book so it's not as sturdy as you might wish it was. So be a little more careful with the pages, but it's worth the extra care. We loved it!
- Cute premise, but in reality...
     By A2G88IFSSK591Y on 2006-04-04
your mouth will dry up from giving endless kisses if you try to kiss your way through the book. I found that my child isn't interested in sitting for that many kisses. Besides, I don't want him to associate being annoyed with being kissed a zillion times. Not much of a story. It's more for the cuddle time.
- Very cute book for your special little ones!
     By A3QUS696DQZHH3 on 2001-10-04
Illustrations and text are great for little ones! My five month old loves to be read to and stays focused with the words and pictures of this book. The fun part of this book is that you can count your way through the book with your own kisses! You can't have too many of those, which add to the fun of your special time of reading! :)
- My 18-month-old daughter's favorite book! (m)
     By A20WWOYBE7SBC6 on 2003-09-30
She kisses the picture of the baby, and points to whatever part on her body is being kissed in the book. She LOVES this book - it's really adorable.
- fantastic, ingenious

brilliant way to teach kids about numbers while having fun and actively participating. beautifully illustrated as well.
- Cuddly babies will love this book!
     By A7UUNFCO4VW0S on 2005-12-30
My 18-month-old has loved this book since she got it a year ago. It has held up well and still looks great! She loves the pictures, especially the first picture captioned, "My tired little baby, do you need a kiss?" and she will lean in to get a kiss! The only hard thing for me is that it's hard to get to belly buttons and toes and chins to kiss them, if you are holding baby in your lap and trying to read! It's a great, cuddly read anyway!
Update: My daughter is almost 30 months old now, and still loves this book! She always wants a kiss with the first line, and she loves to point out the family members in the book. She loves every Karen Katz book that we have.
- Great to read - impractical to follow
     By A4CJHIO8KSIB5 on 2006-05-19
My 1 year old likes this book ok, I think he will like it more when he is a little older. I did try once or twice to actually follow the kissing instructions, but I don't see how people do it. How do you balance the squirmy baby, the book on the correct page, and try to give kisses on chubby yummy knees at the same time? Now that's talent.
- Very Sweet Book!
     By A45AFZOGDZJMJ on 2007-05-12
I love reading this book to my 20 month old daughter - she gets to learn about counting, family, and body parts and we get to snuggle and kiss the whole way through.
- Ingenious
     By A3PSB8O0CZ5OQH on 2004-03-30
What a perfectly simple and fun way to teach kids counting. And it's as much fun for the parent as it is for the child!
- wonderful book--for babies and toddlers
     By ASPFCHVSO1SBI on 2005-01-27
I love this book and so does my toddler. We return to it time after time. A great gift for a baby shower. Highly recommend.
- A Must Have!
     By A2BCDP4UNI99M3 on 2005-01-27
I bought this book thinking it would be cute and fun to read to my 5 month old son. It is so adorable and has become a nightly ritual. He squeals with delight when he sees mommy coming to give him kisses on his tummy, toes, and chin. He loves it. This is a must have book for parents and kids.
- Our families favorite
     By A3IZN4VXQ0FVPW on 2005-11-14
My 16 month old daughter loves this book and has since she was about 8 months old. She loves getting the kisses and showing me the baby on each page. We love this book so much that we have given a copy to everyone we know that has had a baby in the last year, it's a must for every baby shower gift from now on.
- My toddler loves this book!
     By A2AV37AKRQZSYY on 2006-07-05
I received this in a lot I won on eBay and I'm very glad that I did! It's very simple and short and my 18-month-old loves it. I've only read it to him about 5 times, but when I pick the book up, he knows exactly what it is and raises his little feet in the air poised for me to kiss. It is too cute! The only complaint that I have is that this is not a going-to-bed book at all as I think it's supposed to be read before night-night time. I do read it to him before bed, but if you have a kid that is hard to get to sleep anyway, you might want to skip it or read it during the day. All the kissing gets kids fired up and giggly, or at least for my toddler!
A kiss-and-read book starting with ten kisses on ten tiny toes down to one last kiss on his/her sleepy dreamy head.
- Very Cute!
     By A1OAJX9LBAHSUU on 2006-11-15
My daughter really enjoys this book and I love the opportunity to give her extra kisses! She was only 11 months old when we first got it, but after only a few times reading it, she remembered what kisses came next and would prepare herself for them (ex. when we turned to the page with the knee kisses, she would pull up her pant leg and point to her knee!) Great book!
- The Best
     By A2A0WYXBQDCXXX on 2007-03-08
I read this book to my 3 month old boy/girl twins giving kisses as we go and I get two beautiful smiles and lots of giggle that melt my heart. Any book that can do that gets my vote!
