Nomad Solid Hardwood Platform Bed Frame - Full Sizex$129.00
    (7 reviews)
Best Price: $169.99 $129.00
The Nomad is made of smooth, clean, unfinished poplar hardwood, not pine. Many of the pine frames on the market have a rough splintery feel. Pine averages 18% moisture content, our hardwood is kiln dried to 8%, which means it's far less likley to split or warp. This pure untreated wood is preferred by many consumers seeking a natural, hypo-allergenic alternative to todays chemical laden products. We have been selling furniture since 1984 and these are the finest quality unfinished bed frames we have seen. *Assembly required.

This is a great bed. By A2IL51VC8YKIZX on 2007-07-06
This is a very solid bed, it is very well made and sturdy. I absolutely love the look of it, and it was easy to put together (even though the instructions were very brief). It is much higher off the floor than I expected, so be mindful of the measurements, it doesn't hover right over the floor, as it seems in the picture. It is quite high off the ground, check out the measurements. I absolutely love the way it looks with pillows and blankets. It was WELL worth the $.
Outstanding value! By A16BTWKVHN4D70 on 2008-02-11
I am usually hesistant to order bed frames sight unseen, but because of the reviews (and the price) I took a chance with this product.
Short and sweet: high quality, great finish, perfect fight.
First thing I noticed was the screws screw into metal, not wood. Nice! The finish was very smooth and was ready for staining/sealing out of the box. I decided to finish it with Danish Oil for a natural finish. Looks fantastic. All holes lined up perfectly. All pieces fit together correctly, and everything is level. The quality for the price is A+. It does stand tall.....taller than my old metal frame/box spring/mattress combo. As a matter of fact, it is tall enough for me to easily climb under (6'0", 180lbs), but I like it that way. I was able to assemble it by myself in 30 minutes. TIP: use a box to hold up one end while you work on the opposite end.
The only thing I would warn others about is the gap in the middle is wider than shown in the picture. It didn't matter to me since I was laying down some plywood for a memory foam mattress, but I wanted to let others know.
I saw much cheaper (not to mention heavier) particle board platform beds locally in shops for $250+ and none matched the quality of this frame.
This is a wonderful frame! By A2KUHGME4MWNSJ on 2007-09-07
I am very happy with this frame. I am all for real-wood furniture, which is lighter than "created" wood, looks better, and is much easier to work with. I had no trouble putting this together by myself. It is also light enough in weight for me to move by myself without much of a problem, which is a big concern for me. My only problem is that I want to use a 4" memory foam mattress with it, and you can feel the ridges of the slats through the mattress. I could have chosen a bigger, heavier created wood platform bed that was lower to the ground, did not allow for storage underneath the bed, and was much more cumbersome, but I am still happy with this one. I do think I might try to purchase some plywood to put over the frame, though, so I have a solid bottom under my mattress.
Great purchase By A2A7T375XE8CO1 on 2007-11-30
Putting this together was much easier than I'd expected. Legs are 1 X 3, not 2 X 4. It is at a convenient height from the floor to accomodate under-bed storage. Wood is relatively lightweight, and the edges are rounded, not sharp or splintery or warped. (Not a single splinter in my fingers during assembly!) Screws are joined to other metal hardware, not directly to the wood, so if you take the bed apart and reassemble it someday, the wood in the holes won't disintegrate. Best of all, it's made in USA. Contrary to the photo, the Full size has a longitudinal gap of several inches down the center, to accomodate tightening the hardware. Therefore I recommend a foundation (like plywood) for use under a memory foam mattress. Instructions recommend tightening the hardware after 30-90 days, and that's true. This sturdy bed is a great deal.
Sturdy, simple bed By AZ46H76U3EFCD on 2008-11-04
When ordering this bed, I became excited at all the 5-star reviews. I was hoping mine would be as well, but the bed was a bit more difficult to put together than I was led to believe (needed both my teenage son and daughter to give me a hand). One of the screws did not line up with the metal dowel, so the bed is put together minus one screw. Other than that, the bed is sturdy and attractive with its simple lines. Height: 14-1/2".
