It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia: Season 3x$20.99
    (50 reviews)
Best Price: $39.98 $20.99
Studio: Tcfhe Release Date: 09/09/2008 The folks who populate It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia may be pals, but they sure aren’t Friends. They may be a gang, but they’re not Our Gang--heck, these cretins make Spanky, Alfalfa, and company look like members of the Good Sam Club by contrast. Consider, if you can bear it, the first of the 15 episodes (presented, with bonus features, on three discs) from this, the show’s third season: Mac (Rob McElhenney) and Dee (Caitlin Olson) discover a baby in a dumpster. Do they report it to the police? To Child Services, maybe? Of course not! They take it to a commercial agent, hoping to cash in by putting the kid in TV ads; and when the agent says that Latino babies are all the rage, they take him to a tanning salon so he’ll appear darker and more “ethnic looking.” Meanwhile, Dennis (Glenn Howerton) pretends to be join a tree-hugging group of hippies, merely so he can steal the group leader’s girlfriend, while Charlie (Charlie Day) and Frank (Danny DeVito) spend the day rummaging around at the trash dump. It’s tough to go downhill from there, but that doesn’t stop them from trying. In the course of the following episodes, members of the quacked quintet reveal themselves to be not only rude, devious, unscrupulous, amoral, and dishonest, but also racist, xenophobic, homophobic, and dumb (their endless arguments about nothing are riotously ridiculous). Not that this will surprise anyone who’s seen the show before. Dee, Mac, and Dennis try out for the Philadelphia Eagles while Charlie and Frank drop acid. Dee sleeps with the old, toothless janitor at a competing bar in order to steal their microbrew recipe. They mock a deaf mute. They fart in each other’s faces. When they think Paddy’s Pub, where they work, is going to be sold, three of them quickly land gigs at a nearby restaurant, where they get drunk on the job and steal from the customers. They even get held hostage by the hillbilly McPoyle family, possibly the only people in the known universe who can make our “heroes” look good. And it’s all pretty hilarious, including the bonus features. Those include humorous commentary on two episodes by McElhenney, Day, and Howerton (the show’s executive producers and occasional writers), two featurettes (a season overview and a look at the McPoyles) that are as whack as the show itself, a gag reel, and a “Dancing Guy” sequence so strange as to beggar description. --Sam Graham Beyond It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Season 3 on DVD It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Seasons 1 & 2 on DVD | Arrested Development – Season One on DVD | Arrested Development – Season Two on DVD | Stills from It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia – Season Three (Click for larger image)

You thought Seinfeld was funnY??? By A3ER8CB4T5VS64 on 2008-05-10
By far the funniest show on television. Devito is the best. This show is like Seinfeld only everyone can swear and have really evil plotlines. Do yourself a favor and rent the first two. An Irish pub in Philadelphia owned by a group of weird, competitive misfits-what's not to like?? I guarantee you it's like nothing you have ever seen on television.
"we are electric dream machine - prepare to experience sexual magic..." By ANOBZWKE25SBY on 2008-09-15
Mac, Charlie, Dennis, and Dee are back with daddy Frank to wreak their special kind of havoc and no one is safe from their evil shenanigans. For those who have not yet had the pleasure to catch this fantastic show, take equal parts "Arrested Development" and "Seinfeld" and add in a little "South Park" and you have "It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia" which is truly one of the funniest shows ever aired on television.
The 1960's-style theme music makes it seem like you are about to watch an innocuous show, only to be bombarded with one of the most over the top, hysterical comedies where nothing is sacred and no one is above their particular style of scorn. Whether it is trying to capitalize on a baby they found in the dumpster by putting her in commercials (then of course putting shoe polish on her to make her more "ethnic"), determining if Dee's latest squeeze is learning impaired, getting sold into prostitution by their dad, scheming for an inheritance, cheating at being the final stop on a pub crawl tour, performing in a rock band despite not knowing how to play an instrument, sleeping on the streets because their apartment is too full of stuff from the dump, or trying out for an invincible spot on the Philadelphia Eagles, they always give it their special brand of incompetence and it always blows up in their faces.
Though many plots are straight out of other sit-coms, the Philly gang manages to "make them their own," bringing a fresh voice to the mostly cookie-cutter offerings that currently air on television. The envelope pushing humor and adult situations are not your standard fare; thankfully FX has the guts to keep it on the air (unlike Fox, which would have canceled it after 4 episodes like they did "Kitchen Confidential"). The DVD extras are not that plentiful - bloopers, commentary, a featurette on the show, a featurette on the McPoyles, and the hysterical "Dancing Guy" who shows up in "Frank Sets Dee on Fire" episode.

Tears streaming down my face, fall off the couch, beer through the nose, crude, rude HI-LARITY! If you ain't watching this, get out of your moms basement, put down the Playstation controller and glue your orbs to FX. This isn't feel good television, it isn't reality about dancing, surviving, singing or making over homes. It's comedy; mainlined straight to your funny bone with a chaser of guilt. Couldn't be more pure.
My Life Is Sunny Thanks To This Show By A3JYW6GWR9CS5P on 2008-09-09
I would fall into the group of folks who began watching "Sunny" with the inception of the Dumpster Baby episode and, in turn, quickly got himself caught up with the first two seasons on DVD. Aside from the heaps of praise that "Sunny" has gotten since it first appeared, it's inclusion on the FX Network made it especially intriguing as (in my opinion) they house the best original television on basic cable today.
While the first 2 seasons are picture perfect in their own right, Season 3 delivers the funniest moments to date of this already amazing show. Anyone who is a fan already knows which moments these are (ie; Day Man). My personal favorite is the season finale, specifically the Mac vs. Dennis dance off, which is quite possibly the funniest moment in TV history.
Season 3 also includes the gang trying out for the Eagles, the death in Dennis and Dee's immediate family, battling a local Korean restaurant, Mac joining the mafia and a few drop-ins from the McPoyle family. What makes these scenarios so unique is that they are relatively serious at a glance but are filtered through some of most ridiculous and hilarious circumstances that even the largest hot button issue becomes comedy gold, leaving no one and nothing spared.
With one week until Season 4 begins anew, the public at large has the opportunity to get all caught up or give themselves a refresher of hilarity. I'll be enjoying multiple viewings.
- Puts you in stitches
     By A35Q2BUOZS51ZJ on 2008-06-11
I started watching this show when it first came out and it was funny. The cast has gotten better with age. Season three in my opinion was the best so far. I was litterally CRYING with laughter and not too many shows can do that to you. I am chuckling right now thinking about episode "Dee gets set on fire" or the episode where Charlie is hanging out with the jockeys. This show is freaking priceless. Well written off the wall humor make this a classic in my book.
- The best comedy on T.V....PERIOD!
     By A1B5VH79ZIKCC4 on 2008-07-17
I found myself screaming at the T.V. at the lines saying; "I KNOW...they just didn't say that!" NOTHING on television has ever been close to this. JUST GET IT...already pre-ordered season 3.
- Best comedy show on TV
     By A37JTP5A7EYWBH on 2008-05-23
This is by far the funniest and crudely hilarious show I've seen on TV. I can't stand reality shows and all that drama junk. This keeps me laughing and talking about it to my friends. I have season 1&2 on dvd and I have borrowed it out to 5 of my friends already and they are hooked and cannot wait for the new seasons to come out!! I am a little impatient myself!
- Don't you hate people who review products they know nothing about?
     By ACOY29IAE58HO on 2008-08-27
You know, I really hate it when people review things they haven't seen yet. But if the products don't exist, how do you review it? Okay, so here's what I did. I got out the Ouijia board and asked it if this would be a good product and if all you people would like it when it came out. Well, there I was. With my fingers starting to twitch while held lightly over that little sliding thing-a-ma-bob, and, SUDDENLY!! --it started to slide of its own volition!!!And when it stopped sliding I learned the answer. So the answer as to whether or not this is a good quality product is "Could be!" Straight from the great beyond itself. I guess you'll either have to believe in magic or else you're just gonna have to decide for yourself if it's any good or else maybe you'll have to wait and ask someone who's seen it but that will only happen AFTER the product exists, I guess.
- Almost as good as lots and lots of nose clams, fresh from the sea!
     By A210VNTZC72NQQ on 2008-09-19
No wait, better. Charlie, Sweet Dee, Frank, Dennis and Mac all come back ready to bust comedy all over us with season 3. I've watched Sunny since it's infancy and fell in love from the start. I fell off a bit in Season 2 and then found time in my schedule again once Season 3 got rollin. And with a season like this one, you would be dumber than Lil' Kev to not get this set.
Just about every single episode is a classic. From Fatty McGoo and dating retarded people to getting whacked and the now infamous Dayman/Nightman, there is not one episode you can watch without laughing hysterically at one point or another. With memorable appearances by Rickety Cricket, Peter Nincompoop, Green Man and the McPoyles, and of course, The Electric Dream Machine, you cannot go wrong. Frank is more over the top than ever, Dennis makes a beautiful prototype dress that no model is fit to wear except him (to the tune of Rick Astley's 'Never Gonna Give You Up' no less), Mac's amazing on the scene news camera reporting and makeup and watching Charlie and Dee battle another addiction (glue/paint huffing, crack and steriods before) are all instant day-makers. But there is nothing better than a rousing rendition of Dayman (uhh-aaahhhhhh!) to put a smile (or bizarre look) on the face of anyone in earshot. Even if you just saw one or two episodes from last season and liked those, this is worth the money (especially on amazon, cheaper than the stores) and you will get hooked on the show.
If last night's season premiere is any indicator, there's a lot more where that came from coming up. I mentioned in passing to my mom that she should give it a shot and since she gets everything 3 hours ahead of me, I got a phone call at 8pm where she was laughing so hard she could barely speak. With drama, drama, drama filling up the airwaves, Always Sunny is a very warm welcome and reprieve from the seriousness that will leave you struggling to breathe you are laughing so much.
Some people will say that the show has peaked, but it's not even close to peaking, and when it does peak, it will peak all over the tv.
- Defective Discs
     By A8XJ9229R8HIP on 2008-09-27
I've received 2 box sets so far and both of them have been defective. The 3rd disc causes the DVD player to shake and make a loud rumbling sound. The soundtrack of the DVD has a wobbly sound to match. I have not been able to find others online with the same complaint but a friend of mine had the same experience. Both of mine came from Amazon and his both came from Best Buy in Chicago. I am going to return both of them and wait until I'm sure I can get a non-defective copy.
- A masterpiece
     By A2HH7GQX0DE21L on 2008-07-17
Honestly, this is the funniest show in the history of television. You can check my history, I don't shill for anything but I needed to let people know how great this show is.
Buy the first two seasons as well as the humor builds on itself and the characters get better with every interaction. Charlie is one of the best characters of all time and I dare you to spend an entire episode just watching characters react to dialogue they aren't even involved in without laughing.
I bought copies of seasons 1 and 2 to give as a gift, and because I couldn't wait purchased digital copies of all of season 3. I will also be buying this because the bonus commentary is worth the money by itself, and really, I feel like I owe these guys for all of the enjoyment I've received from this show.
Stop reading, add it to your cart, all the laughter will probably add a year onto your life.
- A Must Watch For Seinfeld Fans
     By A20WSLTEJJ01DR on 2008-08-24
This show is absolutely unbelievable.Like many critics who describe it,it's like Seinfeld on crack. You wont believe how many controversial issues are tackled in this show, and the writing is superb. You will get to know and love all the 5 main characters of the show like you did in Seinfeld. This shows dvd is a must buy for people who don't get FX on cable or didn't watch the show.Don't rent it,this is a keeper.
- Love the show but.....
     By A3VYWO086298U2 on 2008-09-14
1 Star for the product, 5 stars for the show.
The idea that there are only 2 commentaries for 15 episodes is weird. You do know that everyone can watch uncut Season 3 Sunny episodes on Hulu.com right? I bought the Season 1 and 2 DVD and frankly a lot of what I bought ended up on the web anyway for free. You'd think that the Sunny cast would do a commentary on every episode a la the Simpsons or Family Guy and the fact that there are only 2 commentaries makes me not want to buy this DVD.
I'd love to give these guys money but not for a product that I can get for free.
- the best show on tv
     By AE6MUKA9KUGCY on 2008-06-30
I cant believe more people dont know about this show. it is down right hysterical. think, "seinfeld on crack". it picks up where seinfeld left off, only they go way further than seinfeld ever could because its not on network tv. You will not regret buying this, get season 1 and 2 if you havent already as well.
- Always Sunny Always Funny
     By A1CPZXTVDJG0KW on 2008-08-08
The show is great! I love the edgy humor and how they're addressing everyday issues and finding the hilarity in them. I think what I enjoy the most is that they're not tip-toeing around issues, gay, abortion, underage drinking (no, they're not promoting these, they're just addressing them). The way they have the real life situations and the true reactions within a set of friends sets this show apart (Seinfeld anyone?)...there's no following the lives of multi-millionaire brats as lead characters (fill in the blank for that show, there's only about 5 on air right now), none of the worn out "the city is going to blow up unless you catch the bad guy in 5 minutes" plot lines...it's real situations and almost everyone can relate...and laugh at.
- Great Show
     By A2ID1Y8AI8YTCU on 2008-09-09
One of the funniest shows on television! Gets better with season 3! If you're a fan of The Office, Arrested Development, South Park, things like that, then i definetly recommend this show. I started late on this show, but it's better than never.
- Charlie Day is my hero!!!
     By A22NBJWZVJY6OX on 2008-09-11
From the first episode i watched i was hooked. You can never really tell whats next with these guys. You'll laugh until your blue in the face. I wish the best for this comedy foursome and may they but out many, many more spirit lifting episodes.
- Doesn't Get any Better
     By AYLNDVALO47KO on 2008-09-18
It's Always Sunny in Philadelpia is without a doubt one of the top 3 funniest shows to ever be on tv. The writing is amazing- hilarious, over-the-top at times, witty and perfectly executed.
Anyone that's a fan of the show probably already has this on DVD, and if you're new to the show you will not regret purchasing season 3 (and 1 and 2 along with it.)
This is one of those shows that you can watch each episode many times without getting sick of it and you'll always find some new action, facial expression or line that you didn't catch the first time.
Overall, awesome show!
- Disappointing third season
     By A1UWXY4Z5RQYHM on 2008-10-05
Given the positive reviews and the first two seasons of this show, I was really excited about the third season coming out. Sadly, I think the show has lost a lot of what made it great. Seasons 1 and 2 were certainly outlandish, but (mostly) believable. The humor hinged on the character interactions and performances. Season 3 trades the sharp wit of seasons 1 and 2 for things like not funny stereotyped Koreans and unrealistic acid trips. Frank's character moves from being a sadistic/vitriolic/cowardly sob to nothing more than a clown.
So sad, hopefully they'll get back on track for the next season.
- Best Unknown Show On Television
     By A3RSLESBEUY2F1 on 2008-10-27
Where would I start with this show? There hasn't been too many shows I've waited for to come on week by week in my life, but this is definitely one of them. Charlie, Mac, Dennis, Dea, and Frank are the funniest combination of people on TV since Seinfeld; and this show is pretty much "Seinfeld on crack". If you like shocking, bizarre humor, please buy this DvD or at least tune in Thursday nights at 10:00pm to FX and watch an episode! Also, you can watch any episode through the website.

I got hooked on this show from a friend and i'm so happy i did! I don't think Sunny is as well known as it should be. This show is creative, hilarious, and addictive! A must see! Go buy seasons 1 & 2, watch them endlessly, and then buy season 3! You won't regret it:)

- The Green Man is saving your life right now, bro
     By A35BJJFX5IWATF on 2008-06-25
Frickin Hilarious! If you haven't seen this show, you don't know what your missing. Nothing on TV even comes close to Sunny's level of humor and satire. Not for those who are easily offended.
- Best ever.
     By A19561T4QMZBA on 2008-07-05
These guys should be winning Emmy's. The funniest comedy that has ever exsisted on TV, hands down. Every American household should own all three seasons.
- Even if you havn't seen the show, buy it anyway...
     By A2JF9ALMTDPSC4 on 2008-07-27
...because there's no way you can't love this show. If you seriously do not like this show, something has to be wrong with you! Charlie Day and the rest of the cast are incredible! DAY MAN LIVES ON!
- the best show not to appear out of america
     By A2T6VFF57VARTV on 2008-08-11
i live in tasmania , australia and had a friend send me this series , i couldn't believe how good it is , it deserves more kudos but alas. it is easily the best tv to come out on a very long time . Curb and Arrested development stop at a certain point but this show just goes over the edge , it is awesome.
- Funniest Show Ever
     By A92OCCC7YPQGZ on 2008-08-12
I'm a big fan of Arrested Development, Extras, the British The Office and will always be, but nothing makes me laugh and cry like It's Always Sunny. Took me till the 3rd season to give it a watch and now I make everyone I know watch it. Always puts me in a good mood because of how ridiculous and hilarious these five people are, hope it lasts forever!!! CAN NOT WAIT TO GET SEASON 3 AND SEE SEASON 4 IN SEPTEMBER. COUNTING THE DAYS!!!
- the best show ever
     By A12G03FNHAO8DF on 2008-08-19

- The Greatest Comedy Show Ever.
     By A2S019U0GGDS7J on 2008-08-21
If you like over the top comedy that includes some foul language, over the top senerios, this is the best. Better than The Office(which is great) and anything else out there. I personally think it's the best comedy show ever.
